"You really weren't kidding when you said that there wasn't anything of interest out here." Kovu muttered as he poked at a large wart covered frog with an arrow tip. He jerked the serrated edge away when the frog croaked and started to cover it's back in a milky substance. Grimacing Kovu stood up and sloughed his way over to where Elleth was sitting, on one of the lower branches of a rather dead looking tree. Balanced on her lap was an opened square of wax paper and a few honey cakes. He snagged one from her and stuffed it into his mouth before she could swipe it back.

Elleth snorted and flicked his nose in retaliation before taking one of her cakes and wrapping the rest up. Clumsily she managed to tie the string together one handed, before Kovu reached out and redid the knot. He licked crumbs from the corner of his mouth and smirked at her. It was hard to resist the urge to shove him into the water. She'd do it when she wasn't in danger of getting pushed in as well.

"Right, we've already gone around the perimeter of the swamp and we've seen nothing. We might as well start heading in deeper." Elleth sighed, packing away the wax paper back into the pouch on her hip. She wouldn't tell him so, but the utter lack of movement they'd seen on their trip was disturbing. Even the night prior had held some creatures. The frog Kovu had been bothering was the first thing she'd seen all night. Maybe his superior hearing had picked something up, to keep him so calm, but to her, the quietness was stifling.

Letting out a huff Elleth allowed Kovu to help her down from the branch, the other citing that he didn't need to see her underwear when she jumped down. That he'd already been scarred for life because of all the times she's flashed him, with her ridiculous ability to jump high. She waited until she was safely down before shoving him and walking away, a satisfied smile on her face at the yelp and splash that followed.
