Off of the main street a cobble stone path leads to a tranquil public garden. The garden is a quite, peaceful, place to just rest and relax the cares of a busy day away. A cobble stone path creates two circles in the garden providing a walkway around the pond, and around the gardens edge; benches are placed along the path for a place to sit when feet grow weary or to chat. The pond in the center contains large lazy Koi fish of multiple colors swimming around the reeds. Native birds sing in the trees providing natures own music.

User ImageShinku laid on a bench, near the pond, watching the Koi fish swim. His green eyes where locked on a rather large one of deep orange and spotted in black. He pushed back his sandy brown hair and sat up tugging his kimono back in place, smoothing out the wrinkles.

The young Haka glazed up at the bright open sky and started to sun bath. It was rather relaxing to just lay here in the sun admist the sweet sound of the birds singing for their mates.

User Image Intricate flashes of golds and reds and all colors imaginable flashed underneath the surface of the cool pond, creating a splendid, pleasureable display for one who had come to this peaceful place for a time of relaxation. His mother had told him to go feed the fish within the pond, handing him a handful of bread crumbs. Unable to don a shirt at the time, the Gehaka simply left with his pair of silken, white shorts, large wings tucked neatly against his muscular back. As the birds chirped merrily overhead, the Gehaka allowed a gentle smile to cross his impassive features, gently tossing the bread crumbs into the water so that the koi could feed.

He hadn't noticed the Haka laying upon the bench, his aquamarine eyes focused upon the glittering bodies of the fish instead. The warmth of the sun coated his exposed back and chest, making his wings open partially so that they too, could catch the beams. It was a very peaceful place here, and Hachiro wished he had time to spend here more often.

User ImageShinku long brown tips ears flickered in the warm beams. He gave a pert little yawn, dainty hands reaching to the golden orange orb above. His long brown lashes fluttered and he turned back. His jade eyes flickered catching sight, for the first time the Gehaka feeding the koi.

He was a handsome build creature, with creamy skin and black inky hair. He seem to be enjoying the warm, serene atmosphear as well. The sun was glittering on the Gehaka skin making him glow slightly; a rather pleasing sight. Shinku gave a small cough to call attention to himself.

User ImageAt the cough, the Gehaka glanced over, immediately feeling contrite for not realizing that a Haka was enjoying the park's tranquility as well. Scattering the rest of his crumbs, Hachiro offered a small bow in the other's direction, not quite sure what to do next. The raven-haired Gehaka had no husband, and had little to no confrontations with Haka besides his mother. However, he did know enough to turn fully around, head dipped towards the ground so he could submissively wait.

Never address a Haka unless they speak to you first--that had been the first rule taught to him. Modesty and submission were the two things that were the most revered in a Gehaka, and Hachiro would do his best not to offend this one. After all, who knew what sort of punishment he could receieve if he offended a Haka...

User ImageHis eyes fell to the cream skin arms. No marriage bracers and the Gehaka was young. He couldn't be much more older then his own seventeen years. Shinku sat up on the bench; his eyes boldly taking in the Gehaka. "What is your name?" He questoned; his voice was sweet and calm leaving no clue of his emotion.

His ears gave a little twitch as he waited for the answer. So far none of the Gehaka he had met acted like Sei. He respected his elder Gehaka brother, even treated Sei as an equal for Sei treated him the same. In his brothers eyes he was just Sei's little brother, not just a Haka to be feared and submissive to. Mother didn't approve of their relationship though. His ears fell slightly hoping his elder brother was alright.

User ImageAs the melodic voice of the Haka drifted to him, accompanied by the twittering of the birds within the trees, Hachiro lowered his had a little more--quietly obsering the Haka through the few, wayward strands of dark hair that had escaped from the rest. Like the few Haka that Hachiro had seen, he was very attractive, with silky hair that was a most extraordinary shade. Like hazel...Realizing that he had been asked a question, the Gehaka shifted postions, wings tucked close behind him so that he appeared smaller, even if he towered over the Haka.

"Kohaku Hachiro." Came the quiet, but gentle reply, and Hachiro patiently studied the ground, waiting for another command or to be dismissed. This Haka seemed...different. Hachiro felt a twinge of uncertainty, but nothing like the normal feelings he got when seeing a Haka. This one...didn't seem quite so intimidating, nor arrogant. But Hachiro wouldn't make any observations just yet, not when he hardly knew the one who was his superior.

User ImageShinku eyes moved away, glancing to the single Gehaka compaion he had taken with him. He motioned the older samuri not to move towards them and turned back. "Kohaku Hachiro hmm. What is you're profession?" He questioned polietly. Gehaka truely had no actual profession but they exceeded at a certain job. His brother, like their father, was learning black smithing. Profession was simpler to say and seemed more poliet.

The jade eyes glazed patiently into the others blue eyes, no not blue, they looked like still water cool pure water. There was not true color to really describe them. His ears tilted fowards, and he clasped his hands setting them in his lap.

User Image As the Haku gestured to what must be his Gehaka companion, Hachiro's own gaze wandered over the feminine creature once more, taking in his fine clothing, his delicately carved features...As soon as the Haka's attention was returned to him, however, Hachiro dropped his eyes once more. He musn't get distracted like that; offending the Haka would not be very clever, and even though Hachiro hadn't seen too many didn't give him the right to observe.

The question, again, surprised him, and his left ear twitched once. "My mother is a silk weaver, and I am the one who gathers the worms to bring back to him...I do know how to make a few articles of clothing." Then, he lasped into silence once more, wondering why the Haka would be interested in his profession.

User ImageShinku made a small face, giving a little shiver. He was a bit tom boyish for a Haka, but anything buggish, excluding butterflies and dragonflies, he was rather squimish about. His inquestive nature would not let the subject drop, no matter how icky the idea of worms was. He had never seen a silk worm before. "What do they look like? The silk worms?"

The Haka pushed his hair back out of his eyes, slightly wondering if he was confusing the Gehaka. He hope a other Haka wouldn't come on the scene. He would have to turn all mean spirited and arrogant on the hansom creature.

User Image Hachiro noted the shiver, as well as the face. That was the expression that most Haka gave him when they heard of his job, so he was quite used to it. What confused him even more was when the Haka actually asked about them. Most were so disgusted that they dismissed him right there. Despite himself, the Gehaka felt himself relaxing in the presance of the other, his wings stretching a little bit so they weren't so tense.

"The silk worms can only be used when they are in caccoon form. They appear to be long and white and very round...they do not move, so it isn't unpleasant work...they are very soft." Hachiro's eyes had lifted slightly, occasionally glancing at the Haka's face while he spoke before flicking away.

User Image Shinku ran his finger over his silken kimono. Little worms made his outfit so maybe they wheren't so bad. As long as they didn't touch his skin. Which brought out the question. "How many worm do you need to make a kimono?"

He never seen a worm much bigger then his pinky; he was small only five foot but still that must mean hundreds of little worms to make one outfit. How did they get the silk? "How do you get the silk from the caccoon?"

User Image A thoughtful look passed over the Gehaka's features, as though forming his thoughts into words. No one had ever asked that before, so he would do his best to explain it in a matter that the Haka would be able to understand. "Well...the silk worm farmers have already killed the worms inside, for if they were to hatch, it would ruin the silk...the cocoons are soaked in boiling water, so that the thread the makes up the cocoon is loosened. Then, the end of the thread is found, and is placed on a winding bobbin. then the silk is unrolled from the cocoon, and five cocoons mixed together makes one silk thread. Then we can weave the thread into cloth."

Making silk took quite a bit of effort, and it made one's hands very sore after countless hours of unwinding the cocoon. His oddly-colored eyes flicked to the Haka's face once more--checking to see if he had rambled on too much.

User Image Shinku eyes where slightly dazed as he digested the information. So something had died to make his outfit? It was a little sickening to think about for long. His fingers twined in his hazel hair, before he finally spoke. "It seems a lot of work for one silk thread. It must be very time consuming to form one outfit." His right hand covered his left subconsciously. Callus where on the tips from Tessen practice, when he still had his bladed fan.

User Image Yes, millions had died to make that garmet, and although it had saddened Hachiro as a child, he had now come to accept the fact. The worms lived a happy life until that point, getting to eat as much as they wanted...and when they built caccoons, he simply thought of the process as though they were dying in their sleep. It relieved some of the guilt from his mind.

"It is, Honorable One...it takes many days for one kimono to be made, and countless more for a one that is as beautiful as yours." He inclined his head respectfully as he said this, again settling his gaze on the ground.
