Finding some people in Destiny City was no easy feat. Not everyone had a name you could look up in a phone book and even fewer had a senshi phone with its magical contact list. When one wanted to contact a knight, but didn't have a number to reach them by, the only real thing you could do was go to the last place you saw them and then sort of... circle outwards while you stretched your inner senses for an energy signature that felt at the right level. It was something of a hit-or-miss strategy, with the odds leaning towards the 'miss'.

Ida sighed softly as she paced across the rooftop of the little book store she'd landed on, her senses on high alert for anything powered in the area. Part of it was wariness... she remembered a city filled to over flowing with Chaos, where transforming in the city limits without a cat was suicide. Part of it was hope... there were people Ida so desperately wanted to find, to confirm their existence, but whom had thus far eluded her. It was rather frustrating and forced her out on patrol more than she was really comfortable with. She remembered patrolling nightly, all those years ago, but with how bad things had gotten and the change in her focus... it felt odd now.

Coming to the corner over the street, the eternal senshi paused there to wrap her arms around her waist and close her eyes, reaching outwards to the fullest extent of her senses. I need a squire, a negaverse captain, a guardian cat, a first level senshi and a dark mirror super... If the time is right, that is what they would be. I need to know... is everyone alive? Do they remember? ... or am I the only one going crazy? Liryn remembers... Athene remembers some... I don't understand what is going on, but I just... need to know they're alive. I need to see it with my own eyes.

Suddenly, a light behind her eyes... a speck of a spark of something... Ida opened her eyes as she strained, trying to tell which direction it came from. It felt... like a knight. Like a squire! Hvergelmir maybe? Or Gehenna? She wasn't looking for the mars knight tonight, but seeing him would not be a bad thing. Maybe it was Shangri-La, another squire she would like to catch up with... No matter who it was, Ida really needed to see them.

Shifting from the corner, the dark-haired eternal jumped high, clearing the street to the next building before she took off at a brisk trot towards the source of the signature she sensed. Always, the hair at the nape of her neck bristled, nerves keeping her on her toes and on the look out for the sudden appearance of the Negaverse.

Whisler had had some things he needed to sort out. There was a fight that he remembered having, with someone that he had no idea who they were…but it felt so important, and so very, very sad. The squire was so lost in his thoughts that he didn’t even realize that there was someone coming up on him quite quickly, at least until he finally saw the flash of purple jumping form one building onto the one he was on.

Slowly the blonde blinked, looking up. This girl was glowing. She was honest to goodness…glowing.

The glow on her skin stirred something within him, another piece of the memories of that battle. He had been glowing. Snowflakes…little glowing snowflakes.

For a long moment, the Squire stared mutely at this girl, because, well. For starters, she was completely…completely gorgeous. Truth be told, he had never been rendered so speechless by a girl before…maybe it was the otherworldly glow. It had to be.

Finally, after he was quite sure that his eyes were gonna pop right out of his head, he cleared his throat. “Well. Hello there. Aren’t you a vision.” He tried to play it cool, he really did. “So uh. That…did uh…You’re glowing…did you know?”

Smooth. Of course she knew. People didn’t just glow without knowing it. Ugh.

The knight she found was none of the ones she was hoping to find and Ida slowed in her loose trot to come to a stop. Purple coat, fur trim, crystals in his luxuriously long blonde hair... Polaris, maybe? Unfortunately, the number of knights she knew was not a large one. This would be the first of that planet she had met, but well... another name, another face to add to those she knew. That was always a good thing, even if it was not what she had set out to find.

Oddly, he was mute and staring as she approached. A creeping bit of nervousness made Ida shift, but she put a bright smile on her face anyway, her fingers finding the compact around her neck to fiddle with in a restless motion. Maybe it was the very obvious glow down her face and arm, she decided. She thought it was lovely, but just the fact she was glowing might put someone off. It wasn't exactly natural. Titan had even suggested he thought it might be a disease. Hopefully this knight didn't think that, but... she guessed it was possible.

His greeting made an attempt at coming across as charming, but slid right over to awkward when the next thing out of his mouth was a question about the glow. Ida shifted from one foot to the other, pink rising in her cheeks.

"Ah... yeah. I did. It happened a couple of weeks ago, when I visited my planet and triggered something." She said as she reached up to tuck her hair behind her ear, bangles clinking. "My name is Ida. Have we met before? You look a little familiar."

Ida. That was a pretty name, nice, concise and easy to remember. Whisler stood up and gave a little bow. “I’m Whisler, Squire of Polaris. It’s nice to meet you, Ida…I’m sorry for staring…it’s just.” He looked a little sheepish. “I had this very, very vivid dream..or vision or something..and in it…I’m quite sure I was glowing. Snowflakes. I remember I had glowing snowflakes.” He shrugged. “I must sound quite mad though, so please, just forget it.”

He gave a little grin, tucking some of his hair behind his ear. “I don’t believe I’ve met you before, and I’m quite sure I would have remembered someone as beautiful as you.”

The blonde felt a lot more sure of himself now that he had allowed the glow issue to fade from his mind. He’d figure it out later, seriously. But now…
“Why do you have wings on your butt?” He remembered that the one he was fighting…the guy had wings…but black ones. Bat like ones. But this girl…they were cute and white and…

“Hey, Ida…are you an angel or something? You realize that angels have wings. Maybe you’re part angel.” It came out of his mouth just as naturally as breathing. He had never met someone with wings before, so it was a completely rational thing to say, right? “Are they real wings?” He reached out a hand, touching one of the wings. “Oh. They’re not feathers? Are they part of your costume? That’s…that’s kind of dumb!”

He was disappointed. Part of him really wanted them to be real…she looked the part of an angel. Or a cherub. Or whatever. “I mean. You’re not dumb. I just…I don’t know. Thought they were real wings, that’s all.”

The eternal's smile eased as he offered his name, happy to accept it. Whisler... it was a nice name. Not one she knew, so that didn't explain the weird familiarity, but it probably wasn't that important. What was more interesting was that he spoke about vivid dreams and her gaze sharpened. That was another person who remembered then, though apparently not as well as she did.

"No, you don't sound mad..." She murmured thoughtfully, soon distracted when the conversation took a sharp right turn into unknown territory. The beautiful comment brought color to her cheeks, but it was the angel question that put her off balance, brown eyes widening as she dropped her arms and tucked her hands behind her to touch the wings that stood up from her hips. Pristine white, they had only drawn attention from one other person before and, for the most part, were simply dismissed as part of the uniform... Her mouth worked as she tried to come up with something to say, but he was already in her space, reaching to touch one of the wings.

"No, no, um... I'm not an angel, its just... Yes, they're part of the costume." She said as she stumbled through the response. Her blush darkened at his disappointment in the wings, turning her dusky skin rose and she self-consciously ran her hands along the stiff fabric.

"Wings are part of all Eternal fukus, like transparent fabric is part of the Super and collars on everyone." She said. "They don't really give us a choice on the outfit... Just like I'm pretty sure you didn't get to decide if you wanted to wear a furry hat either. Magic does it, and who knows how that works."

Whisler reached up, fluffing the fur on his hat and grinning. “No, I guess I didn’t get to decide about my furry hat…but boy do I like it. It’s the best hat in the world, seriously.”

He laughed. “Sorry about the wings, didn’t mean to intrude on your bubble or anything. I’ve just…never seen them before…except in that dream…thing. I was fighting a guy. He had wings. But they weren’t like yours. They looked like…” He thought for a long moment, tapping his chin.

“Like a bat, maybe. I don’t even know. He was evil, I think. He felt evil. But…that made me really upset or something. Who knows, right? So. Since you’re a senshi, you get wings…what do us knights get? That’s not even fair you know. I want wings.” The blonde gave a little pout.

“How do you learn all of this stuff anyway? I mean. It’s all still a big…I don’t know. Not a mystery, I’m starting to get it all…but sheesh. I’m still slightly reeling from all of the information that all of this stuff is happening and I can’t be me anymore and…well. You know.” He threw up his hands and laughed. “You seem so cool and collected…I love it. I’m jealous, to be honest. Hopefully I’ll be as calm and cool as you, someday. I should be, at least…right?”

She really couldn't help it... when he fluffed his hat and declared it the best hat in the world, she laughed brightly, the creeper vibe she'd been getting off of him easing. He was just... passionate, it seemed. Intense, sort of. The pout he gave was kind of cute and Ida giggled as she shook her head, pressing fingers to her mouth.

"I don't know what knights get. Armor maybe? That guy though... black wings mean they're Chaos." She said as she sobered a little. "The Dark Mirror senshi have feathered wings. If he had bat wings... then he was a corrupt senshi. That would explain why he felt evil... and possibly why you were upset. Especially if it was someone you knew who corrupted."

It was never a pleasant thing to find out. Seeing Ate corrupted, after the woman had been so sweet to her... but too many of their allies had fallen to the other side over the years, both forced and willing. To many.

"Oh, uhm... well, I've been a senshi for about a year and a half now, almost two. I learned it by meeting people and talking to them. The senshi also have a primer on our phones, to help out new people." Ida said, finding herself a little confused by the 'can't be me any more' comment. It didn't... fit quite right. She felt heat rising in her cheeks again, something that happened often when someone complimented her, and the eternal shrugged awkwardly.

"Its not... anything I try to do." Ida said weakly, picking at her hood.

Whisler nodded, exhaling loudly. “Well. Okay then. He was corrupted, and he was someone important, that’s for sure. I was so upset…he was supposed to be…” The squire paused, wracking his brain. “…my brother? I don’t know.” He shrugged slightly, and finally gave a little laugh. “I mean, it was just a dream…thing right? It wasn’t real. I don’t glow, so it couldn’t have been real. So, I shouldn’t even worry about it.”

He seemed quite impressed with the time frame she had mentioned and nodded. “Well, I’ve been…I’ve been a squire since January…before that…well. I have no idea. I don’t remember anything before that, so…” The blonde shrugged, making this one quite over the top. “Who knows, right? Who even knows?”

After a moment, Whisler gave a small grin. “You know, Ida. You’re terribly cute when you blush. You really are.”

Brown eyes widened when he mentioned brother and Ida bit down on her lower lip, torn suddenly between the desire to tell him it wasn't a dream and not wanting to potentially hurt him with that knowledge. Was it safe to not tell him, though? He could potentially be living with a Negaverse officer... but if he hadn't been hurt yet, that boded well that his brother wasn't interested in draining him for energy or getting him involved in powered business.

"Sometimes dreams can tell us things we're supposed to know, especially being senshi... magic does all sorts of strange things..." Ida said, trying to be some sort of diplomatic about it. Tell him without telling him... "You should maybe just be careful around your brother, especially about powered things. I don't know..."

She shrugged as she fiddled with the compact around her neck, worrying her lip again. He didn't remember anything before January? The thought pulled Ida's brows together in a frown of confusion.

"What happened in January? Was that when you upgraded? Were you alone or something, with no one to tell you what happened, you just woke up without your memories?" Well, no wonder he had no idea what was going on then. It would be like starting over as a page, but with squire powers. If he had forgotten more than just powered stuff, he could be really confused. What had happened to suddenly make him just forget?

The rush of thoughts was quickly derailed though. Brown eyes widened as Ida stuttered out something and clapped her hands to her cheeks in embarrassment, feeling them heat even more. She dropped her gaze as she shifted fitfully, trying to force down the surge of uncertainty.

"No, I just... I mean, I'm not... Its not..." Drawing a deep breath, Ida let it out in a rush, forcing her hands down to clench in shy fists at her waist. "Thank you, I guess? No one... says stuff like that to me. Its embarrassing." Her voice and expression were edging dangerously close to a pout and the eternal smoothed it away, forcing her lips into a sterner line. He was side tracking her... but it was hard to tell if he was doing it on purpose.

Whisler blinked and laughed slightly. “I mean. He wasn’t…I don’t have any siblings. I think. I don’t know. He was supposed to be like a brother? It was complicated. But it was some guy that I have no idea who he is right now? And…well. Yeah. But I’ll be careful around people with powered information…” He reached up, taking his hat off again, spinning it on a finger.

“Well…I don’t know. Back in January…that’s just when I…” He shrugged. “It’s when I started being Whisler, I guess. It was when I…you know. Well, maybe you don’t know. But. I don’t really know either, so…yeah. I was in these clothes and I had no idea how I had gotten there and…the people I was with told me that I couldn’t be myself anymore…for uh. Safety reasons…”

He just didn’t want to admit that he had been part of the Negaverse. Didn’t want to admit it. Sure, he couldn’t remember it, but that didn’t mean he didn’t feel shame from it. How could he had ever made such a bad decision? How could he have ever been stupid enough to join that…that evil cult.

The blonde let out a heavy sigh and shook his head. “We all make mistakes though, I guess I was just smart enough to fix my mistake…so yeah.”

She really did seem embarrassed by his compliments, so he chose not to touch back on that issue. She was very pretty, so he wasn’t going to push the issue. Maybe later…

"Oh." Well, that put some of her fears to rest, but it raised a lot more questions.

Ida watched him spin his hat and relate his experience, a hint of a line between her brows as she put the pieces slowly together. New clothes, new place, no memories, people who wanted to keep him safe from his old identity... A mistake that he fixed. Brown eyes widened as the bits clicked together and Ida's lips parted in surprise.

"You purified." She said softly, her whole view of him changing as though pulling back a curtain. Now the things he said made sense to her, from the memories to not knowing what to do. He really was like a page thrown straight into a squire uniform... This also maybe explained the familiarity she felt with him too. Thinking about it, eyes narrowed as she frowned at him, Ida could just call up a face with the same purple eyes and long, blonde hair. A man who had put out much the same vibes as this one, and ironically, had been just as interested in the wings on her uniform.

"Oh! We met before!" Ida said as her face cleared, a smile breaking across her face. "I think the name was... Mariposite. We talked about things and you seemed interested in purification... Oh, I'm so glad I got to see you again."

Excited by the discovery, Ida reached to grab up Whisler's hands, giving them a happy squeeze as she laughed softly.

"I'm so glad everything turned out okay for you... I'm really sorry you lost your memories, but being here on this side... I couldn't be happier for you. You're free, no chaos to taint your thoughts or actions. You're free to make your own choices now."

Whisler glanced up, freezing slightly as she understood. Damn. He was hoping to just remain some sort of wild enigma and not have that stigma of being someone who purified plaguing him. He didn’t like people to figure out that he had been part of the Negaverse, because honestly, when he thought about it, he had the smallest prickle of fear, and a large prickle of utter disgust.

When she spoke the name that had been his…or so he kept being told, he looked away shrugging. “Yeah. That’s what they say was my name. I guess you knew me then, hm? Like, legit knew me. Well that’s a pain.”

When she grabbed his hands the squire looked back at her, blinking. “You’re…not mad at me for what I was? Well. That’s good then.” He paused, then broke into a slight grin. “Yeah, you know, I guess I made the right choice with doing this. I can’t remember a damn thing about being on that side, about being Mariposite, but I’m glad I’m who I am now. It sucks not being able to be…you know. Who I was before. But…I suppose it’s not so bad. It’s gotten easier as the time has passed, and when I really think about it…it’s a lot of student loan money I no longer have to cough up!”

Sometimes, it really was the little things that made life so…worthwhile.
Whisler seemed slightly thoughtful at her last statement. “Free to make my own choices, hm? Well. Then I suppose I’ll just continue to make them. We’ll have to meet up again, Ida. I’ve enjoyed talking to you, and I’d like to get to know you more, if you’re up for it.”

The eternal caught the way Whisler's face fell at her recognition. She squeezed his hands again, her thumbs rubbing gently over his knuckles.

"Who you were before purification doesn't have to affect who you are now. Purification is... a fresh start, you know? You made the choice to free yourself from Chaos and now you're fighting for us, not them. I think that should earn you a boatload of brownie points right there, and that's before you consider everything you've had to give up for this... Losing your old life... that's a big deal." She said firmly, hoping it would give him some small comfort to know that someone didn't hold his past against him.

Feeling color come to her cheeks again, Ida released his hands to fiddle with her hair, tucking her bangs back behind her ears. She was suddenly reminded of something she had said last time and the senshi wasn't sure if she wanted to bring that up... considering she had never really thought she would see Mariposite purified. But... not telling him when he had obviously forgotten felt dishonest at the same time. Maybe a compromise was in order. Rather than tell him she'd go on a date with him for purifying, she could promise to see him again and indulge his wanting to know her better. Ida's face eased into a smile and she tucked her hands behind her.

"I think I could do that." She said shyly, rocking on her heels. "I was going to suggest helping you out, so maybe we can do both. I make it sort of my job to help out the new members of our faction, and you're kind of like a newbie, even if you're a squire. I can give you my contact information and when you're ready to go out, you can let me know."

Reaching out, she offered him her hand again. "It was really good to meet you, Whisler. I'm really glad I did."

“Pah.” Whisler shook his head, smiling just slightly and taking her hand for a moment, squeezing gently. “I hate being called a newbie, but yeah, I would really appreciate the help, I think. It’s good to have some people out that know of my uh…’special circumstances’…because there’s been a few people, at least one, I mean that are not on our side who have remembered me, and that hasn’t really ended so good. Really. So…” He scratched the back of his head and shrugged.

“We’ll have to hang out soon. I’d really like that Ida, thank you. For more than just this…thank you for the support you’ve given me…it really means a lot.”

He took the offered information from her and gave a little smile. “Well, I should be heading out. It was nice to uh…meet you, or see you again, whatever you want to call this. We’ll have to do lunch sometime. I’ll call soon.” The squire winked and began making his way back home, looking down at the number in his hand.

Hopefully it wasn’t a dud. Because, that would just suck.
