Torcha had been too distracted with plans of going to Ayr to attempt the Test of Courage all the older members were chattering about. She wanted to participate, but they’d never take her along, after all, she was “only a child”.....annoying big people, because she’d wanted to go, she’d been focused on arguments and plans and didn’t see that Ysali! She could have been seriously hurt...after all Granny had yet to teach her combat magic. Granny had always told her that when going hunting for anything you must be prepared and focused. Clearly Torcha had failed that because she had been surprised by dragon and had done the sensible thing to do: run away. Fluff had followed her so that was good, but she had no idea where she was. As she wandered through the red moon stained woods she tried to figure out where she was and how to get back.
The night wore on and Torcha had been walking for quite some time, holding Fluff who had fallen asleep, when she heard the sound of beasts. Beasts mean a possibility of people, and Torcha was foot sore enough to risk talking with potentially deadly Orderites.
Maybe I’ll get lucky and it’ll be a lone person who won’t hate me, or can at least give me directions to a landmark so I can go back to camp. Granny is going to yell at me for being late as it is. I’m going to have to wait for the sun to come up most likely given how late it is. Maybe they’ll even know about the test? That would be great...I can get more information about it! I want to go explore this new place...why can’t I grow up faster so I can go do interesting things?
Talking to herself Torcha headed out of the trees to where there was a corral of beasts, and a patch of cleared land with a house on it. The moon had set and there was no light to be seen as the dawn was still an hour or two away.
