I was just wondering how you go about choosing/deciding on what items are to get a recolor? Do you decide? Do you look at our posts requesting these recolors? Also if one made a request for an item or a group of items to be recolored, and gave image examples, would you consider?

We base our decision off of lots of things: user requests, what colors have been popular in the past, and items that we think are too good only to exist in one color!

I apologize if this is a repeat question. Any further word on the old unisexing project? Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems that the staff that were working on it are no longer with Gaia and I'm forever patiently waiting on those Cobalt Split Socks. Those are a nice color for socks...and a blue I feel should be used more often. xd

For example we've had a couple REI's dedicated to NPCs. Those were fun! I loved learning more backstory regarding our NPCs. Could we have more of them? Or even better: A CI based on the plot or vice versa. The Nyx vs Gaia plot from the Airship Saga would be a great example of a potential future CI.

Another Monday, another day to inquire, plead for some praying mantis related items. A pet with a I AM pose would be loved, but even a Mantis themed Strut or March would be met with much claw flailing.
Main Question: Is it possible for me to get the username of the Gaia Artist that snuck in the hidden praying mantis in Dirge's Serenade?
I've never been able to pin down who the artist for that item was, and my mantises would really like to give a special thank you to the artist in question.

this is a personal request, but is there any hope to see an EI based on Nicolae and Cresento? I know this is something that's half loved half hated by the GCD, so.... It's just kind of a suggestion, i suppose. I'm hoping more for EIs about those who aren't very explored such as the few i listed above, since i have a feeling people would definitly prefer seeing them instead.
A Nicolae and Cresento EI isn't something we have planned currently, but we are working on more NPC related sets and REIs in the future.

Will you consider being more flexible on the gender based items? Most of the rewards from the tired spender give female biased rewards and are useless unless gifted/sold. Same thing with shop, it would help if you would make a male/female section in such case.
Hey there! Almost all of our items can be worn by both genders, so I don't foresee a gender specific tab in our future! However, yes, many of our items are more feminine. This is actually because a large majority of Gaians are female! However, we have been trying to make more unisex items that work for both genders since we want to give our male Gaians love too.

is it possible to pass this onto some of the artists? a lot of female items coming out these days have very thin arms that will make the male base looks like it has t-rex arms, could the artists possibly check on the male base too after the finish making the item? same for mouth and eyes positions, they always looks horrible on the male base. there's also the question of having blush/muscle/mouths/etc any shading poses looking bad on the darker skin tones.
just... basically, please ask the artists to check the item on the rest of the base/skins other than just the pink female skin base when they finish something. thank you
This is definitely something I can remind our artists! Making sure both sexes look good wearing Gaia items is an important part of the process, as is checking against other base skin tones. Unfortunately, there may not always be a one size fits all, but I will make sure the art team is reminded to check their items moving forward.

And I guess items too, but I've been really interested in this especially since Winter Hue was hired as a recolor artist. How much work does go into making, and recoloring items? I have a lot of fun making my own recolors with tektek items, but I really want to know how much more complicated making an actual usable item in Gaia is.
We have several phases when it comes to item creation. First, we create a mock-up that shows the rest of the team what we intend the final item to look like. After it gets approved, the item is then recolored on each individual layer to accommodate all of the avatar's poses and orientations. It is then entered into our giant Gaia item database. Many items have over 120 individual layers that need recoloring! We couldn't manage make all of our recolors without every member of our talented artist team working together and supporting each other.

Will shoe items be altered for use by Imps/avatars with non-human skins? (Just in the current event this has been a hindrance since I cannot wear the advocate shoes to get the same stat boost other users get to have)
Hi there, unfortunately our shoe library is far too vast to be making this type of huge change and have the shoes equippable on Imp skins, which would glitch considerably with the imp feet. However, for the event, you can temporarily change to a human skin to use the Advocate 2k14 shoes. Sorry for the inconvenience!

I purchased an item from the market place that said it had a chance at winning a Special Item, or other random items. Only to find out after i purchased it that the item i bought was no longer valid. No where did it say before I spent A LOT of my gold that the item i was purchasing was no longer viable. PLEASE change this in the marketplace so that timed items can't be sold after the event is up, or put in the market description This event ended and will no longer grant anything. All i did was hand my gold to someone because i thought it was a VALID ITEM and it wasnt.
I would nbot have spent my money on this item had i known it was an empty item. How do i get my money back?

Recently I got really inspired to make an Avi (my current one except a bit different) and found its VERY hard to find an appropriate tank top for it (for lack of a better more appropriate term, a wife beater tank top). Any chance we can see a new more updated white tank tops that guys wear all the time? Either as a gold shop item or a pose on a new LQI or something? Gaia could really use it as the only 2 I found were extremely old and outdated. You could even make it look like toned muscles under the tank top or something, I trust you guys would make it well though.

Could we potentially get lion skins for both animal avatars and full-size avatars? smile I'd love to dress up as my OC, Maximus, but that's a slight challenge, as there's no lion items for animal avatars, and the closest the full-size avatars get are the bakeneko items(Which aren't quite what I want), or the Uncanny Form's snow leopard skin... All of our artists check the glitch report whenever they have time. However, we understand that the report thread gets cluttered very quickly, especially when people quote repost their bugs repeatedly or report intentional features or layering requests (as opposed to illogical layering/bumping) as glitches, and it makes it harder to sift through. Currently, we are working on a new bug report system in and we hope that it will increase the effectiveness of avatar glitches. In the meantime, yes, please still fill out a report in the Avatar Item Glitch Report Thread! That is the best place to report your glitch. Thanks for your patience and understanding.

Are your trends of prioritizing female items over male ones and making arm/leg mods instead of separate pieces going to continue? (We need more male items, more pants, and more boots. Not mods.)
Our art team tries to make our items as interesting and innovative as possible, so we tend to lean towards creating lots of arm mods and leg mods which are more expressive, as it's increasingly difficult to make things like pants and shirts that aren't near-exact duplicates of items we already have. However, please rest assured that we definitely plan to make plenty of male-centric items!

We've been getting more arm and leg mods that respect our diverse skin tones which is great. However, for those of us that use other skin tones besides the base ones, will artists consider using more transparent bases so that they are friendly with alternate skin mods such as vampire, grombies, Hoarfrost Pass, body dyes, etc.?
I find that I cannot use some of the new items because my character is not white nor the base shades of skin.
Unfortunately, the transparent arm mods are especially difficult to implement because they require catching onto a piece of the base skin that is not heavily shaded or otherwise impacted by other items, and therefore limit the diversity of poses that can be created. As such, the recent arm mods with various skin tones as different arm positions are our compromise. We try to include black or white versions where possible, but given that we have so many different additional alternate skin tones, it's nearly impossible to be 100% inclusive with these types of arm mods. However, whenever it's possible to use the transparent arm mods, you bet we'll go with that option instead! rofl

With the animate items, is there any possibility to do moving hair/wigs and moving capes and stuff? I know you guys did the moving bow.
Unfortunately, right now animated items can only be animated in the very front or the very back of the avatar due to the way the avatars are compiled. Moving hair would require more complex layering and it is something the artists personally would really love to do if we had the capability to do so! In the meantime, we do have a few animated capes already such as Astra: Raven Billowing Cape.

For our older, more classic items like the Ninja band, most Gaians are already accustomed to and use to the current layering, so we will not change the layering and potentially ruin hundreds or thousands other Gaian's saved avatar outfits. Hopefully we'll be able to release a new, similar-looking item that has layering that's more to your liking!

Comic books are a plenty here in America and not all revolve around the Avengers or Justice League. If someone can just look through some more famous works like Sandman or Transmetropolitan, that would be neat. Though if you want to stick with well known Marvel / DC comics, there are so many, many many many characters out there that have yet to be explored that look awesome.

I know that there are quite a few layers for avatars. And I know there really isn't a whole lot that can be done to let us layer the items the way we would like to, like on tektek. I think with certain items like gloves, shoes, and jewelry/ accessories . When they are released make them on a few layers so we can pick which layer we want to use it. Kind of like the kitsune mask. That item you can use over your hair or under your bangs.
This might be possible for smaller items, like jewelry and accessories, but unfortunately with larger items like gloves and shoes this becomes really just technically unfeasible for our database. Gaia avatars have a lot more layers than you think!

I've loved the looks of several items released lately, but it seems most pink items are colored with brown/cream/tan in mind, rather than neutral colors like white/gray/black. The brown-based pallet reduces the ability to create well-balanced colorful avatars.

Bare leg mods have been highly requested since our Right to Bare Arms CI and we have been trying to figure out a way to make these available for users. Unfortunately, since we are a pixel-based dress-up system, we are unable to make existing pants that are conformed to the default leg stance to fit with these new legs. The compromise we came to is as you described: pants that look like skin. Many of our skirts are on the same default layer as pants, so they are bumping these legs. However, each leg included a white tights and black tights version for the maximum usability, and additional adjustments regarding layering with skirts is still in development. These are a novel item, so it may take a little time to get it right, so please be patient while we do the best we can to offer bare legs for Gaians to equip!

In some nice Jewel tones or the more darker richer colors....such as Sapphire, Amethyst, Onyx, etc. I am tired of pink, white and bright pastels. I loved the sweater for: Minty Skate Date, but it wasn't in a color I would wear.
I would love me some shirts, sweaters, Etc. that come down to around the thighs that are not connected to arm mods, in colors that I would wear. Because I am so not a pastel type of person and please no cosmic or galaxy purple.... I am so tired of Arms mods for this stuff, it limits us.

In response to the Shake A Leg question. A work-around could be to make them equip like tights, boots or stockings. There are plenty of items that change your legs without being pants and may be equipped with a skirt or underwear of the user's choosing. Also, in the future, maybe consider removing the shoes. I was a little disappointed they weren't actually completely bare legs.
Hi there! This was something we considered but it would limit the expressiveness of the legs considerably and cause really strange glitching with regards to dual equipping with slimming pants, which we have a lot of. We decided for the first release of bare legs to just try the skin-colored-pants version but your version is definitely possible for future if bare legs are requested!

a) Won't be answered.
b) Will be answered, but in the most vague and unhelpful way possible.
But for once, I've decided to drop my pessimistic attitude and prepare my question ahead of time. Two days ahead of time, to be exact. And my question is:
Why is there such a frustrating lack of African American-themed items? Surely, you can't honestly think that ALL of your members are Asian/Caucasian, right? Now before someone chews me out, yes, I have seen Josie's Journey. And I was ECSTATIC when it first came out. I'm actually trying to sell a few things to get it right now.
But even THAT item was LONG overdue and there hasn't been a single item like it since then. (Granted, there were a couple of smaller recolors of the item, but even then, only ONE of them (Josie's Exursion) gets a good grade from me.)
Yet you can release and rerelease all of these frilly, lacey, lolita, Barbie bubble gum J-pop items without an issue. And don't get me wrong, I adore the Japanese culture and it's styles and fashions. I grew up reading manga and watching anime.
But just because I don't mind creating those types of avatars, that doesn't mean that I wouldn't like to see a few items that I, as an African American, can relate to and be happy with. Hell, even just MAKEUP would be nice.
Do you know how difficult it is to make the MAJORITY of your makeup items look good on dark skinned bases? The only one that works flawlessly is the face mod from Sainte Ciel: Eros. At least, from what I've experienced personally.
In short, it'd really be nice if you could be a bit more culturally sensitive towards people of a darker skin color. We don't always WANT to be chibi Sailor Moon look alikes, you know. And I bet that if you took that into consideration a lot more often than you have been, you'd find yourself raking in a lot more of that green stuff that you're so obsessed with.
That's very understandable and I can appreciate this request. I know that artists are asked to mock face and body modifications on more than just the pale skin tone. I will ask the team for a list of items that they feel work seamlessly or better on darker skin tones. We are always happy to hear what you have been satisfied with in the past to give a cornerstone on what works and what doesn't. With Paws now having the option to remove the ears from their avatar through the Hear No Evil item, is there a possibility to make such an item for the humanoid base? Some of us enjoy putting animals ears on our avatars and don't want "human" ears to show, so this limits us to wigs and hairstyles that hide the base avatar ears. I saw this thread about it in Site Feedback, and it seemed like a good idea to me. I don't know much about how layering works, so this might be entirely out of the question, but I thought I'd ask just in case it might be.
That's a good idea and something we can do some looking into. I know that for animals it's much easier due to ears being on a separate layer from the head while human ears I think are painted on to the head. I will ask our art team!

Since we buy keys for the Luck Chest for 99 Gaia Cash out of the shop, I think it would be in your best interest to do regular updates, or cycle out some of the older items in the chest. Right now the items are common and have no value, no one really buys the keys anymore because of this and that means you're loosing profit. Can you start updating them?

Can we please have the odds for rare items in rigs like pets and exclusives easier to get? not everyone is rich and like with touch of color rig. i bought over 60 touch of colors mainly white and i got no exclusives. the odds are really bad. i like rigs but i wasnt happy that i couldnt even get one rare exclusive out of 60.

We keep getting new items, and recolored items in the same limited colors. Creams, pinks, blacks, whites... Those are all well and good, but really REALLY boring. What are the chances of us getting items in OTHER colors, such as orange? Gaia is REALLY lacking orange items that aren't halloween/fall themed.
Sure! We try to have lots of different colors in our Mini-recolor RIGs- if you have some specific suggestions feel free to send them, our team is always open to more.

Will there be any chances of seeing more fur skins for human bases? I don't mind paws but I've always opted for skins on this base. We have Superior form and Uncanny form that has a few for us as well as other items for more of a reptilian look. I'd like to see skins for like... Foxes [Arctic Fox, Red Fox, Silver Fox, Grey Fox, Fennec Fox, etc.], there are a ton of cats and dogs to touch upon that many would enjoy.

In the announcement for Checkmate Dominiom , two recolored dolls for SDPlus White Bishop were featured, yet these two items have yet to be found or are still not in existence. Was their preview a mistake? Or are they just extremely rare?

ok im going to ask this. we have items like Secret Retreat that add abs to guys avis... is there a possibility at some point we can have some girl options? lol it would be nice to have an item that gives us decent cleavage that layers under shirts... the only options we have are skimpy tops that dont layer well. I know this might open up some kinda pervy ideas but come on... why should guys be the only ones who looks nice with abs and such?

The skirt was designed specifically to layer on top of shirts as a high-waisted skirt, and many Gaians are already using this feature of the skirt as it has been created. Currently, the recolors recently made of the DJ Studio Headphones are user-designed recolors. You can request your own specific color using a Rainbow Ticket! We don't have any plans currently to release non-user recolors of the DJs.

Just think about it -- you could release it in standard colors at normal drop rates through a CI, while the user gets to pick the six special colorations to be released as a premium, ultra rare drop.

It has always bothered me that the layering of glasses and smoking items never work out. I want to add a pair of glasses to my avi a lot of the time but I love my sinful spice too much to let it go off an avi. As someone who smokes and has glasses in real life, why is it not possible for these to be worn together? Yes I understand the technical details of it but is there any way to fix the layering so these types of items can be used together?

Some time ago, Checkmate Dominion the RIG was released featuring a gold and black, as well as a black and white recolour of the SDPlus White Bishop Mage doll. But it has yet to be found. Are they going to be released any time soon, or are they merely incredibly rare?

Items Please please please can the Red Rose corsage please go back to sitting on top of the angelic sash. It was the only way people ever wore this very unloved item because it is easily the best way to wear it since it was moved to below the sash general wear has gone down.

Items The Angelic Bracelets where originally a one handed item. Along the way gaia changed it so when equipped it displayed on both hands is there anyway to go back to one or add the options back to choose to wear one handed.
Unfortunately, there's no plan to change the Angelic Bracelets. The single-handed equip was originally a mistake in the item's coding. Sorry!

The items like bug traps or philopher's cache have to be opened one at a time, and I was thinking could there be a button to open all added to those?
Well you see, if you opened all of these items at the same time, its combined synergistic effect may be so powerful that your inventory might spontaneously combust! For the safety of all users and their highly flammable inventories, we will not be able to add functions to open multiple CI items at this time. Or, at least until we find some way to fire-proof the inventory system. [Seriously, though, they've said before that they tried to make this happen and the strain crashed the server. -Platonix]

The older event items like Bunny Slippers and the Jacked up items are fairly expensive in the MP. You guys re-release the older monthly collectible items all the time in sales and RIG's. Why cant you do this with the older event items? Adding more to circulation would help out with inflation and make questing them more user friendly.

I'm not really sure when we ever had chance items DAILY with new items? O___O I think the only way we can pull off new item CIs every day is if the entire art team became robots! New items take a long time to make and artists need to sleep, so we're taking our time to make sure that each new item is something interesting. Thanks for being patient.

Items Would it be possible for us to get Twin Tails for both Humans and Paws, that go just past the shoulder in a Darker Purple such as the hair in: Monsieur Blackberry Macaron or Sparkling Neighbor, even the purple I am wearing now....Some nice Dark Green(since most of the greens in hair RIGs seem to be the lighter greens, especially the Tea Green) or other Dark Colors would also be nice.

Has any thought been given to designing items specifically for some of the other bases? Not on a constant basis like the [animal] items, just every now and again. Specifically Centaur and Zurg/Alien bases. Because they would be rather cool bases to use if there were some items that fit on them properly. Like spacesuits for the aliens and armor for the Centaurs
We don't have any plans at this time. It's also a technical issue as we can't prevent someone without a Centaur/Zurg base to equip Centaur/Zurg only items so it wouldn't layer correctly on human bases.
Long, long time ago when the Cash Shop was still young, you guys released the Mint Frilled Hat through an item generator. I'm curious if we're ever going to see the other items in mint that are part of that set, such as the Sweet Lace dresses and skirts. I wouldn't mind seeing the set in either Loyal's or even Mecha Neko considering that the Mint Frilled Hat came from a RIG.
We can look into the possibility of including mint recolors in a future Gold Shop grab bag, but at the moment we don't have plans to recolor the rest of the set in mint.

A previous ATS, my questions regarding the existence of the previews of the Black/White & Gold/Black SDPlus White Bishop Mage dolls previewed in the announcement for Checkmate Dominion were answered with: "they were leaked" and "we can look into releasing them."
An ATS before that, another staff member also mentioned that "they were leaked," but were said that "they would be released soon." This question, however, was answered before the year of 2015.
How soon could it be looked to for these dolls to be released, and are they going to be released at all considering they did exist in Checkmate Dominion's announcement?

A breezy window would be great but as an astra we can't currently layer it above background items as astras are currently confined to being all the way on top or bottom. It's a great idea as as a still item though!

The recent update in Dernier Cri was a pleasant surprise. That said, would it be possible to have another version of "Pouf A La Reine" which would be hairless? Those ribbons would be fun to play with other hairstyles smile If needed, they could be placed a little lower on the head or simply include 2 versions; one at the same position and another a little lower.
