Faith still wasn't sure if that dream she'd had was real. It had felt real, but how could it be?

She hadn't been herself, in it. Well - she sort of had, but not entirely. She was...she was something else.

Asmodeus, Dark Mirror Senshi of the Inferno.

What the hell did that even mean, anyway? What was a Senshi, or a Dark Mirror? Why was her name something straight out of the damn Ars Goetia?

She hadn't done a lot of late-night wandering since the wacko with the bat had attacked her, months ago, but she had to be out now. Those weirdly-dressed people (like she could talk, in full fluffy lolita wear) had to know what the hell was up. Everything bizarre in this city could be traced back to them.

She turned down a familiar street, and spotted some very familiar colors, even though she had never met the man who wore them in her entire life. (Not yet, not in this life, but in the other one? She had. For sure.)

Prince Remarque, her mind provided, and that was the name she called out.

"Hey! You! Remarque!"

Remarque was not particularly accustomed to civilians calling his name, particularly those that he did not immediately recognize. He had turned, figuring it was some senshi he'd missed while daydreaming, though this girl had no aura.

She was just a girl.

Who knew his name.

He was immediately suspicious and raised a brow, casually planting his hands on his hips as he gave her a quick look over. "Yes, that would be me. Do you need something?" he asked. He sounded guarded, though not necessarily unfriendly. He hadn't been sleeping well and had more than his fair share of strange thoughts and dreams dripping into his mind. But that was even more confusing than a girl he'd never met calling out his name. Even if he didn't know what was going on, he couldn’t help but try to keep himself approachable.

…Or, at least, he could pretend to be approachable for at least long enough to figure out how this girl knew him—and find out whatever it was that she wanted.

"I know you," Faith said, "I had dreams, of the future, and you were in them." Best cut straight to the point, because there was obviously sometihing deeply bizarre going on here, and she needed to cut through whatever BS there was and figure it out.

He didn't seem to recognize her, which was...interesting. She straightened, and rested her hands on her hips. "I'm Asmodeus. Or, I will be. Sailor Asmodeus, Dark Mirror Senshi of the Inferno. I don't know what that means, but I know it means something."

It had to, didn't it? There was no way she was remembering these things without them actually being important. They felt so real, so...definite.

She remembered fighting, and she remembered surrendering, and she remembered giving up herself to something she didn't...really understand. "So what the hell is up with that?"

That, Remarque found to be highly suspicious. He cocked his head to the side inquisitively and gave the girl a quick look over. Even when digging around in the recesses of his memory, he couldn’t seem to draw something familiar.

And yet, he saw no reason to distrust her.

He’d had dreams of the future. He’d dreamed of new faces, new names. He’d dreamed of a lot of things.

Most of which, he hoped would never come to pass.

This, though.

If she was an unawakened Senshi, he would take that pleasant surprise.

“Do you want the long answer or the short one?” he asked. “Because, what you’re asking is complicated enough even with knowledge of present day. But what you’re asking,” he shrugged.

“Is better left shown, than told. If you’re willing to approach some stranger you saw in a dream, are you willing to take a trip with me?”

If she had seen the future, if she knew the name of their court, her homeworld, and her sphere, certainly she had to recognize the importance of mirrors.

“Through the Mirror,” he elaborated. “To Mirrorspace. Where I can show you exactly what ‘Sailor Asmodeus, Dark Mirror Senshi of the Inferno’ means.”

He gave her a moment to consider and then extended a hand. “If you’re serious about it all, at least.”

Faith gritted her teeth and considered. Was she willing to fully trust him? She had all but flung herself at him on nothing but vague recognition, and if that wasn't a form of trust, it was hard to say what was.

And he was offering her answers. There was nothing she wanted so much as answers - something she could use to contextualize what she had seen. What she had become.

She remembered mirrors. She knew mirrors like she knew air, and she knew Mirrorspace, a safe place to hide when things had gotten too bad. A place to find her Court. A home.

"I'll go with you," she said, without further hesitation, and she placed her hand in his. "Show me everything."

Remarque nodded; he wrapped his hand around hers and then gave her a gentle tug towards the nearest mirror. “I appreciate your trust,” he said as he guided her.

The mirror he directed her to seemed simple enough. It didn’t appear to be anything fancy nor did it seem to be hiding any secrets or tricks. And yet, when Remarque reached his hand to its surface, it rippled. It wasn’t surprising for him; he had walked through these mirrors more times than he could count. But, he gave her a moment to take it in before he stepped through it, pulling her with him.

They arrived in the Common Room but that wasn’t his final destination; he dropped her hand but continued to guide her towards a set of great doors.

To the Throne Room, and the Black Mirror.

“In here,” he said simply, gesturing for her to follow.

When the mirror was in sight, he explained, “All your questions will be answered, there. If the Mirror accepts you, at least. But,” he shrugged. “If you had a name then, you’ll have a name, now.”

Probably.

“Step through the mirror like you would a door. Mirrorspace,” he nodded to the white walls around them, naming this location for her, “Will give you what answers it will. And when it is finished, I’ll be out here to give you the rest.”

Faith followed him. She stared, breathless, at the mirror, for a long moment, and then smiled. Yes, that was...familiar, in a way, and so was the sensation of stepping through the mirror. It was like deja vu, like she'd done all of this a million times before even though she'd only seen it in dreams.

She kept following even when he let go of her hand, as if she could do anything else. She paused, a few times, to take in this place she was in - familiar and yet utterly alien - but never long enough to really fall behind.

And when she stood in front oft he Black Mirror, it took her breath away.

This was it. This was what she had been waiting for. This was where her answers would come from.

"Okay," Faith said, and she walked towards the mirror. She extended a hand to it, fingertips lightly brushing the surface. It seemed almost unreal - like she was asking for too much. Like it shouldn't work.

But it gave under her fingers, and she walked forward, through the mirror.

Sailor Asmodeus stepped out the other side.

She looked down at herself, and let out a gasp of delight.

"It worked!" She ran back tot he other side, and grinned, spreading her arms wide. "I knew it! I knew they were more than just weird dreams! I knew it was all real!"

As real as an alternate future could be, of course, but real enough to mean that she was standing here, in familiar colors, bearing a familiar mantle.

Remarque looked at her, a half grin on his face. He nodded approvingly and, for once, couldn’t find himself to begrudge the strange dreams he’d had of some mysterious future. How could he, when it had lead her to the Court?

“Looking good. But, I hope you know that this means it’s only the start of what’s probably going to be a very long journey. The future that you saw? …We can’t let that happen.”

Her joining them, good.

Everything else? Not so good.

“We’re going to have to take advantage of the time we have now and do what we can to make this Court—and you—as strong as we can.”

Her enthusiasm would help, but they still had a long way to go.
