Snowball's tail swished as he felt an energy signature that was something different from the normal. He was fairly certain that it was a Mirror senshi. . . However, the cat wasn't quite sure, nor was he going to go off the assumption of what it was. He could totally tell it was a second stage whatever this aura was though because it was stronger than any first stage or youma.
The cat's tail flickered as he slinked around in the shadows until he found his target. Sure enough there was a dark mirror senshi not too far from him. He sucked in a breath of air and then asked, "So . . . . this is probably not your usual question" He asked from his hiding spot, hoping that the Dark Mirror senshi couldn't see him just yet. "What happens if you're greeted by a cat?" Snowball had made fairly sure that there wasn't anyone else around before speaking.

Tantalus stopped walking as soon as he hard someone's voice, and the Super Senshi looked aorund, trying to identify the source. "Usually, I feel a bit bad for not having cat treats on hand," he said. Clearly there was a Guardian somewhere, but they weren't easy to spot, by aura or by eye. He considered for a moment calling light to his lantern, but there was no reason to do that and waste its magic when he could instead wait for the cat to come to him.
"You're in no danger from me, I promise you that. I owe a Guardian Cat my life."

Snowball's ears twitched as he listened and the source seemed to sound friendly enough, "Mmm, last person that brought me treats kicked me." He moved from his perch to just sitting safely out of arms reach but the white furred cat could be seen, sitting on a nearby fence.
"Do forgive me for giving a bit of space . . ." He added as he settled ears twitching, though he was fairly sure the Mirror senshi didn't bother to corrupt cats. "My name's Snowball." He offered towards Tantalus, who did seem at least honest. "Do you?" He looked as if he could be colored confused by the fact the dark mirror senshi owed a guardian his life. Granted he wasn't completely surprised.

When he finally spotted the fluffy white cat, Tantalus felt a moment of relief. A cat indeed, and therefore likely not a reason to be afraid. "Kicked you, you say? That's awfully rude."
Perhaps it was a little dramatic for an introduction to a cat, but Tantalus still swept a bow. "Sailor Tantalus, of the Dark Mirror. A Guardian by the name of Liryn stopped a Senshi who intended to see me dead. I would not still be here if not for him stepping in. So I can promise you there will be no kicks from me, Snowball." A more typically cattish name than Liryn or Absinthe or Sitara, for certain.

Snowball watched as Tantalus spoke, "Indeed." He answered as his tail flicked back and forth.
"Ah, well nice to meet you Tantalus." Snowball was still careful as he lept from his perch to the ground. "Ah, I know Liryn." He said as if it was a thought that crossed his mind when the senshi spoke. Granted they'd been digging for something behind a jewerly shop last he'd seen the cat. He couldn't help but nod.
"Well, I'm glad that you are still alive." The mention of Dark mirror crossed his attention, "So you're a Dark Mirror?" He actually moved closer as he inspected the boy. He didn't look like a zombie despite what Zirconia had mentioned.

"And it's a pleasure to meet you as well, Snowball," Tantalus said, and he knelt down and sat back on his thighs, so he was a bit more on the cat's level.
"I am indeed, since...oh, almost a year ago now," he said. "Why? Have you not met one of my Court before?" Not too suprisng, he supposed, there were - what? At best perhaps three or four dozen? Nothing compared to the vast number of Order senshi or Negaverse officers.

Snowball gave a small nod of his head when the other said it was a pleasure. Snowball sniffed at his hand. Nope clearly didn't look like what had been described to him though he decided not to bother with that thought.
"Ah, I haven't actually. I've heard about your court but never met one directly. Apparently the Knight I know, knew one of your members more directly." He sat down with in ear scratching range though mentally ready to shoot the dark mirror in the face with his laser beam if the senshi tried anything funny.
"What do you guys do?"

"There aren't many of us," Tantalus conceded. "We're a rare breed. I'd say dying, but despite everyone seeming to want to kill us, I'm not actually sure how successful they are." He laughed it off as if it were nothing, and extended his hand to scratch.
"May I?" He asked. It seemed only polite, before putting his hands on another sentient being. "Mostly we do a lot of trying to survive. We do drain energy, but I try to make a personal policy of draining criminals - muggers, burglars, gang members. There are plenty of those, no innocents trying to get home need suffer to help me."

Snowball watched him curious, as he spoke, "I see."
There weren't many of them, that sounded both confusing and well, maybe a little comforting. He paused as the other asked about being allowed to scratch, and there was a quizzical look before Snowball sighed finally settling down and nodding, "Sure. As long as you behave, I've no reason to not trust you. Besides I could just scratch your eyes out if you tried something dumb so. . . ."
Snowball just wanted to make sure the other knew he was still wary despite the friendliness. That's usually how they get you to let your guard down. The cat's ears twitched a little, "How do you distinguish this? Aren't muggers, burglars, gang members and all that still also innocents in a powered war?"
Purple eyes looked up towards Tantalus, "They could've turned into any of that because their dwellings got turned into trash from the fighting between superpowers."Noir Songbird ROFL I used the wrong color

Tantalus sat down, and only once Snowball said it was okay did he start to scratch behind the cat's ears. He'd learned well enough from other Guardians that they liked scratches in the same place as normal cats, which was one comforting thing about them.
"I solemnly swear to behave," he said, as seriously as he could manage. He was fairly certain that yes, the cat could actually do him harm.
He frowned, briefly. "Noncombatants, perhaps, but not innocents. And it isn't as if their type isn't the Negaverse's favorite recruiting ground - but I digress." Not that he wouldn't have bene pleased beyond all reason to "accidentally" drain an officer in civilian form.
"They might have all the good reasons in the world, but that doesn't give them the right to mug, to rob, to hurt other people. And if I can stop that - even if just by making them too tired to want to - then I've saved another person from being terrorized by something far more mundane, but far more personal than a powered accident."

When the other swore to behave the cat seemed to settle and start purring as he was scratched behind the ears. Okay how could he not say he wasn't enjoying this.
There was a pause, considering the words the other was offering. "I believe they also prefer the easier to manipulate and younger, impressionable minds. Or the already easily corrupted." Snowball added with a small murf, thinking about politics and how much he wondered if some of the officials in DC weren't already under the negaverse's clutches.
He nodded though, "I assume that is a fairly decent reason. I've heard Polaris would often catch the burgles or muggers or what have you and drop them off at the door steps to the police station. I guess for the same reasons even if they're different methods. Since White moon doesn't really have a way to drain anyone."

Tantalus nodded idly at the cat's assessment of the Negaverse's recruiting techniques. That seemed about accurate - they'd taken Natron when he was a confused teenager looking for a place to belong, and Persephone when she had fallen so low that anything seemed like up. Desperation was apparently appealing.
"It isn't as if I enjoy taking energy from other human beings," he said, "but if I must - and I must, if the Court is to keep functioning - then it might as well be from those who would hurt others, given the chance. A public service, of sorts. Not, indeed, too unlike what your Polaris does - though dropping them off for the police is something I hadn't considered. An excellent idea, really."

Snowball's tail flickered as he sat there beside of Tantalus who nodded. He shifted slightly and looked at the other, "So why does it feel like those in your court have a similar chaos taint?" He asked curiously.
His ears flicked, "Yeah, I suppose that's the better answer - shame you can't just drain the negaverse but I assume then it'd be a draining war instead of anything productively gained." He tilted his head when the other said that he hadn't considered that. "I mean after all if you can make their job easier why not? It might - gain any senshi some favorable light."
He paused, "I guess then it doesn't matter who's side you're on. It's just a little shocking to feel chaos without having to worry about being kicked." He hadn't liked the idea of being kicked the last time.

"Because we are Chaos," he said, and he said it as if it didn't matter. "But ours is not theirs - I don't answer to their mad queen or goddess or whatever Metallia is, and I'd die before I took the knee to her." Which was probably exactly what would happen if he openly defied the Negaverse. He, and likely people in his Court, would end up dead.
"Unfortunately," he said, "I have no doubt that if the Negaverse ever turned on us completely, we would be wiped out. To drain them, as much as I would enjoy that, would only bring them down on us - and there are more of them by a large margin." Never mind that magic was only so good against a blade through your chest.
"But I would never kick a Guardian Cat - or any kind of animal. I think my boyfriend would murder me, if I did, he loves animals."LP it was so weird not to call damocles his fiancee lol oops

Snowball nodded as he listened. "Well it's good to know that others are against her too." He frowned sadly though when he mentioned he had no surprise the negaverse could wipe them out if they wanted.
"It'd still be nice to be able to actually fight back and seem like we were all gaining ground on them." He sighed softly before leaning his front paws on Tant's thigh.
"Oh, well that's good to know! I can come hide behind you if someone tries to kick me again. I mean I know I'm not as small as some of the other cats but that still hurts."
He was laughing a little bit as he watched Tant, settling on his hind legs so he was sitting with his front paws still on the man's thigh. "So, I have a question, I know the Negaverse has youma. Do you guys get any threatening monster since you're chaos too or is it just the negaverse?"
He was fairly curious about his new friend and their whole little court. "I mean after all, I'd like to know what I'm looking at."
