A moment later, he arrived at Deus, noticing he was at the training grounds. This would do for a place to talk, right? He supposed he could also bring her to his room, but that sounded kinda awkward. Or maybe outside? "... what am I doing? Is this even the right thing to do?"
Jake sighed. Well, for now, he just hoped she made it here in one piece.

It was the oddest thing she'd ever experienced. The instant she arrived at her destination, Lark peered around with wide eyes. It wasn't what she'd been expecting - but then again, she didn't really know what she had been expecting. After a few moments of taking in her surroundings, Lark hustled over to Jake where he stood just a few feet away. "What's this place, then?"

Thankfully, she made it here, and waited for her to catch up. "This is Deus. Well, this area in particular is the training grounds, where we practice sparring and such, but yah, this is the island." He looked around to see if there were any hunters around, and when he seemed it was clear enough, started to walk, motioning for her to keep up. "I'm going to go put Chester in a golem so that you can talk with him, but there's a time limit as to how long he can stay out. Should be enough time, but if you have any questions you weren't able to ask him, feel free to relay them to me."
"...oh, and, uh, I'm going to need that pendant back."

Lark thrust out her hand, pendant clasped in her palm. "Oh, sorry." She didn't have much of a problem keeping up, her long legs eating up the ground. It was going to be exciting to actually see a weapon in a golem, and Lark couldn't help but feel a little more excited. Everything was exciting. "I just got a few questions is all, ain't nothin' too complicated, jest kinna personal, I guess."

Taking the pendant back, Jake gave her a sheepish grin. "It's alright. Just... safety protocols. I also need to return this to the owner." It was a little strange seeing her so excited, considering what she had come here to ask about. Hopefully things would work out in the end. "Alright, no worries, I won't pry. Just give me a minute, and you'll be able to talk to him."pinchmonster Sorry for the slow tags. School QQ

"Naw, I understan'," Lark drawled softly, watching Jake and returning his smile. She couldn't help but feel excited, and like this was a step in the right direction for her. It all felt good, and it felt right, and she felt... almost happy, even just being here. It was so strange, but she couldn't explain it if anyone asked her to. "Where I gotta wait, then? Jest here?" Jake nodded, gave her a small smile. "Yah, don't go anywhere. I'll be right back." He didn't waste any time, and went straight into the life labs. It was a good thing he had made an appointment beforehand, and one of the perks of being a full hunter.
Not long after, he returned, a shorter figure trailing behind him. He probably would have passed off as human, were it not for the black sclera, glowing green eyes, and tail. The weapon looked up, and smiled at Lark. "Hi, I'm Chester."pinchmonster ; u ; Sorry for the wait ahhh, papers and midterms u v u

The first thing Lark did upon seeing Chester was not to greet him or smile at him. It was to touch him. He felt like normal, and even looked like normal. Well, as normal as normal could get, Lark supposed - and it wasn't like she'd known him before he started his life as a weapon. "M'Lark," she took a step back and eyed him, worrying her lip between her teeth. "You... I got so many questions an' I ain't got no clue where t'start, Chester." She laughed nervously and shook her head. "You like yer Jake?"

Chester flustered, not used to being touched by a ghoul, but smiled. "It's nice to officially meet you, Lark." He gave a soft laugh. "I can imagine, but I'll do my best to answer them. We could just... talk for a bit, if that helps?
And I do. He's my partner, after all."

"Talk's good. I wanna know everythin' you can tell me. I mean, like, do y'ever regret makin' th'choice t'become a weapon? D'ya ever wish that you ain't never become a weapon? D'ya make friends while you here? Like, with other weapons?" Lark pressed her hands against her cheeks and let out a low sigh. "Sorry. S'lots of questions. But I wanna listen to y'talk about everythin'."

"Mm, well, I don't think I regret my choice. I don't remember much about what life was like before, but it's not that bad, being a weapon. One thing I can say for sure, you're never alone. We can always take to our partners, and... now that they're regulating weapon golems a bit more, it's almost like we're in our own bodies, albeit for a limited time. I haven't talked a lot with other weapons, unfortunately, though I'm sure they're not too bad." He shook his head, and smiled. "Nah, it's fine. I know it's a lot to take in, and it's not a decision you should make on a whim. Not if you've got someone important to you, who'll miss you if you gone. But sometimes... these decisions are necessary, I suppose." At this, he looked away. "I don't like fighting, but... if it's for the sake of protecting someone important, then... I'll do whatever it takes to protect them."

Lark listened intently to Chester, watching him all the while. It was kind of baffling to her that he was actually a weapon - and not just a weapon, but Jake's weapon. He had a personality, and feelings, and opinions. And he was never alone, because he always had Jake. But ultimately, he was a weapon. Lark was quiet for a while. "D'ya got friends? Outside'a what friends Jake got. And I ain't gonna make this decision real light. But.. at the same time it jus' kinna feels right, y'know what I mean?"

Her question made him pause, and he went quiet, seeming to give it some thought. "I... hmm." He turned to look at Jake, and the hunter merely shrugged. "I think so? I'm not sure. I haven't really talked much with other weapons, and the only other hunter I've talked face to face with is Solia. I guess I haven't really given it much thought. But... you're right. It's not a decision you can just make on a whim. There's a lot you give up, but... there's also a lot that can be gained."

"I think I wanna do it," Lark pressed her lips together and sighed softly. "I think I wanna do it, y'know?" She glanced at Jake. "Would y'say that you two is best mates? Y'both always get along? Or there ever a time when y'didn't? There any hunters what don't get along w'their weapons?" She worried her lip between her teeth. "Might be scary, y'reckon?"

Chester couldn't help but laugh. "Well, um, I wouldn't say that we were the best of friends at the very beginning. In fact, I think he might have hated me a little at first. But... I think we're on better terms now." Jake only sighed. "Can you imagine suddenly hearing a voice in your head that didn't have an off switch? Granted, it's saved my life a couple times, but yah... we've had our disagreements here and there. We still do sometimes, but Chester... well..." At this, he flustered, scratching the back of his head. "He's kinda like a brother to me now, I guess."
At this, Chester smiled. "I can't say for other hunters and weapons. I'm sure some get along quite well right off the bat and others... might take some time getting used to each other, and even then, it may be nothing more than a mutual understanding, but no matter what, some sort of trust needs to be formed. A weapon can't function without the hunter, and vice versa."
He reached out and put a hand on Lark's shoulder. "I do, which is why you need to be absolutely sure. The way a weapon bonds with a hunter... I can't explain it for sure, but there's some sort of connection which draws you two together. Once you bond with a hunter, you're considered their partner for life. They act as your eyes and ears, and you as their protection. You have protect them no matter what. If anything happens to either of you..." He trailed off, and looked away. "A-Anyways, you're a nice ghoul. I'm sure you won't be bonded to someone terrible."
