and be blue Text to Julian: Come out to the training field. You can try to kick my a**. -Try- You'll get a reward if you do. Knowing how unfamiliar Ever was with his phone made texting the man just a little more amusing. He could imagine the Lifer staring down at the screen, a look of concentration on his face, as he worked out a reply, and it just had Zeke grinning.

Let him wait, then, and stew in it -- because Ever didn't waste the time trying to text back, with coming up with something clever while his thumbs prodded awkwardly at a tiny, unfamiliar keyboard. Instead he just considered for a moment and then tossed on his coat to head down to the training field. It was leisurely, at least, hands in his pockets, toying with the ornate cigarette case that never left his pocket while his weapon complained, in his head, about things he didn't sign up to watch. Amory was both grudgingly appreciative and impossibly annoyed by Zeke's repeated presence in Ever's life. Or, at least, in his bed. He wasn't smoking as he approached the field, though, dark eyes scraping over the scene, wishing [not for the first time] that he'd remembered to haul on a hat, and hunting for Zeke.

{ He is not coming, boil. He has wised up.} Zeke snorted, fingers toying with the rune carved stone pendent that hung around his neck. There was a picnic table situated beside a tall tree on the edge of the field, and the Mist had stretched out on top of it, eyes closed against hte dappled light of the sun that filtered down through the leaves. It was actually pretty damn comfortable. Lagertha's attempts to p***k at his ego did nothing. Zeke knew his worth, knew the effect he had on Ever, and had no doubt the blonde would make an appearance, with or without a text in return. Any delay would be attributed to that unfailing desire of the other man to push buttons, to see what he could get away with, and as retaliation.

He'd know, at least, when Ever hopped up next to him on the picnic table. That faint scent of cigarettes mixed with lingering smoke, the easy stretch of long legs out over the bench, the rumbling hum as he considered: Zeke was familiar enough with these, already, to recognize without opening his eyes. "What if I lose?" It was teasing, easy: something he should have typed and sent via text but was more fun, certainly, one-on-one. Ever twisted the case, absently, across his palm.

He did know. A light breeze carried a touch of smoke, and he was turning his head before Ever had even sat down. Lagertha gave an irritated groan, retreating to the back of Zeke's mind as a lazy smirk slid over tanned lips. "Laggy gets all pissy whenever I spend time with you. It's funny as hell." { To Hel with you, boil.} He chuckled. "If you lose? Well obviously then I would get the reward." Hazel eyes cracked open, sliding up Ever's back to reach his face.

"Hmm." It wasn't really a fair bet; not with Ever's months of extra experience. Of course, maybe the fact that Zeke seemed to run every day would play some part as well -- the fact that Ever spent more time in the library than training, really. That it had been a while since his last spar, and most of his missions seemed to be turning out diplomatic. Or shopping. But he stood all at one, shrugging, shaking himself out and holding out a hand to help Zeke up. "What shape does it take? Your weapon."

Zeke took the offered hand and used it to haul himself up so he could hop off the end of the table. "Pair of chained axes," he answered, rolling his shoulders in a small shrug. Lagertha wasn't big or flashy, but she got the job done, and her charge was wicked. A hand twitched, fingers brushing over a layer clad hip, before he was backing up a couple of steps. "She was a Valkyrie, so she says." He summoned his weapon, squeezing the wrapped handles so the ridged grips dug into his palms. "Your's?"

Ever hummed, eyes raking over Zeke's axes in a considering sort of way, and then the cigarette case melted away into his blade as it appeared now. In his right hand, the stiletto: a bit wider, a bit more brutal, but still slick black and dangerously sharp. In his left, the sheath -- dull, attached by a long length of heavy chain behind him. The new shape was still surprising, to him, maybe a bit uncomfortable, but it was getting better. He brought up the sheath in a thoughtlessly defensive gesture, testing, maybe. "...not a bad match. Two against two."

"To an extent," he agreed, smirking. Laggy was perhaps a little more brutal in her versatility, but. "Let's not forget the rank and experience you've got over me."

"It used to be one, though." As he said it he shifted the bladed part in his right hand: turned it back against his arm, maybe just a bit nervously. It meant looking down as he took the few steps required to put them on the training field proper, maybe just a bit on edge.

Ever looked a bit tense, a little less his usual carefree nature. It had Zeke tipping his head as he watched him. "What's wrong Snow White? This'll be fun." Then he grinned pointedly. "I'll be gentle."
He was chuckling at his own joke as he charged forward, swinging one axe in a wide arc, aiming for one of Ever's arms.

Off-guard, it wasn't hard for Zeke to catch him, but Ever clicked immediately back into focus -- twisting and bringing the sheath up to catch him across the backside as he did. And for all Ever's usually passivity, he did hit hard, when it came down to it, his expression coming into sharp focus. "I can take it, I think." HP: 49/50 Charge: 1/3 DMG: 6

"Of that I have no doubt."

Ever wasn't exceptionally strong nor exceptionally fast, for a hunter, but he made up for it by fighting dirty: shoulders rolled in a brief shrug before he stepped in again, swinging with the deadly sharp blade of his dagger but, at the last moment, kicking out for Zeke's leg instead. It came with a quirk of a smile, at least, teasing. But only a quirk. There was still a surprising amount of focus in his expression, mostly to appease the quite voice in the back of his mind saying bite, bite, bite.HP: 49/50 Charge: 2/3 DMG: 6

It was a surprise when Ever kicked out at his leg, but not entirely out of character for what Zeke knew of the other man. He seemed the scrappy sort, the type to do whatever it took to stay ahead. Not necessarily to win, but to survive. Regardless, it did have the Mist grunting, staggering back a step to get a little distance between them. { Boil, you were rougher with him the other night. Fight back!} An internal growl followed, hands tightening on Laggy's handles, then he was moving forward again. His right hand came out, tearing thread Ever's shield across his stomach.
