Raphael couldn't contain his excitement for this day. He and Ethanol had been discussing it for some time now--going to see his family, but it was too difficult with Pali so small. But now their son was practically grown and there were no more reasons to wait to go.
It had been a long time since he'd seen his father or Karloff. And a bit longer since he'd seen his sister though he wasn't sure if she would be in the area.
Blood calls to blood, he could feel them out there as though their hearts were beating in his chest. He wanted to show them his love, and perhaps if she was willing....
He smiled as he nudged Ethanol awake, "It's today. The sun is up, we can go." The exctement in his voice was clear.

Feeling the gentle nudge of her beloved had the mare sleepily blinking, a little yawn escaping as she shook off sleep. Once upon her feet Ethanol gave the handsome male a tender nuzzle..breathing in his scent with a sweet sigh. "Good morning..I can't believe it's today already. Are...are you sure they'll accept us? That they will accept our tiny one?" Smiling the mares gaze swept to their still slumbering son and his precious little bunnies. "Pali Zindelo, it is time to face the day my dear son! Up up." With the rousing of their son taken care of she stepped away to stretch, warming her muscles for the journey ahead. It wasn't just excitement that filled Ethanol. It was nervous butterflies. After losing touch with family right before meeting Raphael and never truly knowing more than one member of her fathers family it was clear why she felt such nerves. Would they hate her or worse not approve? A small lance of pain shot through the mares heart, eyes sweeping downwards. It would break her heart if they didn't at least tolerate their family unit.

 Ears pinning down in annoyance, the young stallion shifted with a huff. It couldn't be time to go already..it had seemed like just yesterday that the young mini was barely bigger than his fathers hoof. That he was tasting meat/blood for the first time. Now Pali had aged to near adulthood..still retaining a bit of foal energy mixed with a teenage soquili attitude. "It's too early!" Despite the muffled protests he was soon on his feet doing little stretches of his own and slipping his bone mask into place. Today felt like a day for the mask..while bent Pali allowed his two companions to clamber aboard his back. "Hop, Mop. Be careful.." Smiling from beneath the mask he stepped over to bump along Raph's legs, then he did the same to Ethanol. She nuzzled him in return and gave his ear a little playful n**. "Are we ready?" Even if it wasn't showing because of the mask Pali felt his own level of apprehension at meeting family, by now he'd learned of the past. Of the birth mother that had died protecting him..of his adoptive mother whom had breathed life into the basket from which he'd popped. The loving tenderness with which he was raised..surely this was fate. To be a part of this family..even if Pali wasn't the tallest guy around. "I just don't want to be called tiny anymore. Hopefully they won't start calling me little one or something.." Gods that would be terrible.

Raphael nudged his beloved back gently, "It's going to be fine. They're going to love you." How could they not?" He eased his eye open in the soft morning light to look at her and all the radiance of her beauty. He wanted her to meet his family, let her see his family was hers and then---he couldn't help but smiling.
Pali got up with his two little bunnies and Raphael felt a lurch in his heart. Their son was growing up too quick, it would be nice to have little footfalls again--more little bunnies to love and teach. When they were alone, he'd have to bring it up with her. "Miro ilo drita (my heart's light), Our čhavo is grown." He bumped back into the little foal. "He feels we are embarrassing him." He paused, "Your great-grandfather, the one who raised your grandfather--Karloff, he makes everyone look tiny."
It had been so long since Raphael had seen the rest of his family, Rinkini had had her own kids and his mother was out there roaming as the Rom were like to do. They would have to find her sometime, his heart missed her. But for now it was his father Lucian and Karloff they would go to as they were easier to find.
He closed his eyes mostly to blot out the effect the sun had on his eyes, "They will love you both. You are family."

Heart fluttering still the mare took a few small nibbles of grass, not very interested in it as a meal..it was more a comfort to feel something. anything within her mouth. The sensation of tearing the prickly grass out gave her a small since of relief..for in no time at all they'd be meeting 'family'. "My own mother did not much want me or my siblings..I think that's part of the reason I feel so anxious. My uncle also always warned me to never seek out his side of the family..for fear that they will kill me." Voice breaking ever so slightly..she started walking down the path, tail swaying in time with the beating of her heart. Ethanol took up the lead position mostly to hide the look in her eyes..to stay strong for her family and to show great trust in the stallion that had stolen her fragile heart. "I would walk anywhere you might lead me my beloved. If you say it will be alright then I will be at ease..it might be nice to have even more family." Yes. The idea of finally having more connections made the bunny eared mare smile brightly, hoofs falling along the path easily..her pace not too fast and strides not too long; for fear of Pali falling behind. "Then let us go and find our family! We will greet them with smiles on our faces and songs in our hearts." With Raphael she felt invincible..and moved with her head held high.

Snorting aloud the young stallion hurried to step alongside his parents, wondering momentarily if he should eat some more 'greens' to help himself grow even taller. "I am growing! One day I'll be tall enough to reach the delicious apples Day loves so much. I'll get a whole basket full of them for you." It was big talk but, in his heart of hearts Pali believed he was a regular stallion..that had just not finished growing yet. He had dreams of becoming the same height as Raphael or Ethanol..when strangers called him 'miniature/mini' he took great offense. "I might be different but, I'm just a late bloomer..right Dat?" Even behind the mask his burning, hopeful gaze could be felt and he could see his mother shifting a bit anxiously at his words. As they journeyed and spoke to one another it was clear that not many other soquili lived nearby..that or they were all sleeping or maybe even hidden. Having been raised with the skills of a hunter Pali's keen little ears noted an odd sound further down the path which they walked. "Do you hear it Day? Something or someone..is that crying?" Uncertain the male kept up the quick pace..hoping they would find out what was making such a racket so early in the day.
