The next morning, Pinkie was up early. He wanted to make sure the area was secure and he was use to being the first awake out of his family. His father and mother slept for as long as they wanted, the same with his brother, but not him. He would always be up a little bit after sunrise.
Tilting his head to the side, the stallion eyed the sleeping mare for a moment before turning away. He didn’t know why he stuck around her for so long. He was never like this with anyone and meeting her a second time wasn’t just a coincidence. He didn’t think on it too hard knowing it would drive him crazy. He felt a rush of wind sweep past him and it chilled his body a little bit causing him to shiver slightly. He wasn’t sure if he should wake her or let her rest a little longer. He knew their meeting was at an end. He needed to move on even if it meant distancing himself from her, as he never stuck around anything long enough to form a bond. He gave a flick of his wings feeling the presence of another in the area. He didn’t know where they were or if they were even close. He simply knew something was close.
“Miss..” He said softly as he nudged her neck gently. It was the only kind of physical contact he ever experienced. “It’s morning.” He hated that he had to do this, but it was for her own good and the last thing he needed was for her to be injured. “Do you need me to walk you home?” He didn’t know if he should. The thought of that stallion from the other day was still lingering on his mind. He didn’t know if that guy was still out there.

Ophelia was sleeping soundly until she felt something brush against her neck. At first she was tempted to swat away whoever it was and continue on sleeping, until she realized the night before. She shot up quickly and rested her sleepy bi-colored eyes on Pinkie. She yawned softly and smiled “Please call me Ophelia.” The term ‘Miss’ just felt formal to her or as if they were just simply strangers meeting for the first time. As she rose from the ground she stretched her wings as if trying to shake off her sleepy haze.
When he asked if he could escort her, she thought about it a bit. She wouldn’t mind if he stayed around her longer. Though, she didn’t want to take his time up either. Ophelia remained quiet as she thought about it some more before she answered “If you wish to escort me, you may.” She didn’t exactly know how to explain the feeling she had right now. She was happy and the idea of parting ways made her a little sad.
“That is—if you’re not busy.” She could fly now. So it’s not like she would be in any danger. However, she didn’t know if that stallion was still out there. He had wings so he could follow her. She only hoped that stallion had better things to do then stalk her again.

He didn’t know if he should call her Ophelia or not. Calling her by her name just seemed too personal and he liked to separate himself from that. “Okay. I will call you Ophelia.” He said gently to her and didn’t really have a choice in the matter. If he continued to call her Miss, she might grow tired of him and leave.
“I don’t have anything to do really. Only thing I have planned is going back to my parents to see if they need anything. Other then that I’m free. “ He said with a firm nod before walking slowly away from her then stopping. “You lead the way. I will keep an eye out for anyone else.” He said calmly before looking around to see if there was anyone or anything in the area. “By the way…does anyone find it odd that you’re pink?” He asked feeling like it was something that really made others steer away from him or think of him as a joke.
He flicked his tail and continued to walk slowly seeing that she was following after him. “I don’t know if we will ever meet again, but it was definitely nice seeing you again. Also don’t give up. I’m sure your love is out there somewhere.” He nodded feeling strange to part with her so soon. He felt like she was the only one he could get along with or have a civil conversation with. Everyone else was a waste of his time, but not her.

She nodded as she started to walk along heading in the direction of her herd. She smiled at him when he called her by her name. She liked hearing him say it. As the two of them walked along she thought about his question and she blinked her eyes “Hm, well it’s hard to say.” She never felt rejected by her color it’s just she really hadn’t met any suitor. Her sister was pink and she found a mate—so the color pink couldn’t be that repulsive. Ophelia tilt her head slightly “My father is pink. I suppose he might have faced some troubles.” Though, she doubted it since he managed to find two mares.
“Thank you. I know you’ll find someone too.” She smiled sweetly.
Just then she noticed in the distance up in the air a winged pink stallion surfing through the clouds. She stopped in her tracks and flinched at the sight. She should have known her father would grow worried of her absence. She sighed, so much for being alone with Pinkie.
Swift Wind caught a glimpse of his daughter walking along with a stallion. As he flew closer in he noticed the stallion had kalona features. His eyes narrowed and quickly flew down to the ground landing before the two of them and his eyes rested dead on Pinkie “What are you doing around my daughter?” he asked him.
He noticed Ophelia open her mouth to say something but he silenced her with a stern look. He debated on calling for back up. Though, he had a feeling he could handle the stallion on his own.

About to open his mouth to say something to Ophelia, the stallion’s words were cut short by the stallion that landed only a few feet away from them. He didn’t know what to say at first since he was caught off guard. The stallion was protective and it was only natural since he was her father. He could see the same features in him that he saw on her. She definitely had her father’s looks. “I ran into her and scared away a stallion that didn’t seem to be so friendly. I was on my way to take her home.” He stood his ground and had never been afraid of other stallions especially a father only looking out for his daughter. “Did I do something wrong?” He asked curling his spiked tail around his hind leg watching the stallion closely.
He didn’t want to be attacked nor did he mean to be a smartass. He was simply trying to state what he was doing around her. “I can tell your worried about her safety so if you would rather I leave, I’m fine with doing so. I don’t want to worry you more then you already are.” He told him looking over to Ophelia who looked genuinely sad. He didn’t know why she looked that way. Was she that lonely? He didn’t mind being alone or lonely for that matter, but he could tell she did. From there first meeting together he could tell that she didn’t like being by herself.
“I’m Prince Pinkie..what is your name?” He asked out of formality.

Swift Wind blinked his eyes “You were in danger?!” he glanced at his daughter. That was it! He couldn’t allow her to roam alone again! This was the kind of danger he knew that was out there. His eyes rested back on the kalona. Seeing as he had saved her daughter he owed him and gave a light bow “Thank you. Prince Pinkie.” He held in a snort at the name.
What a cruel mother to name him that way! He felt his guard going down seeing as the kalona was no threat. He had heard tales that not all kalona were bad. He was quick to judge but it couldn’t be helped since his daughter was in the company of a kalona “I’m Swift Wind. Sorry for being rude.” He was easy going. Also pretty accepting considering he looked after his son’s grandson who was part harpy. He glanced at Ophelia who wore an expression that was worrisome.
“So—you’re pink…and a kalona…”
“FATHER!” she snapped. He was being so rude now. She could tell by his expression he was studying the stallion. Though she was unsure of what was running through his mind at the moment. She also felt a bit embarrassed having her father here at the moment. She wished her father would hurry up and find a love interest to plant his seed so then he’ll have new kiddies to fawn on. She glanced towards Pinkie wondering how he’ll react with her father being so obnoxious.
She had hoped it wouldn’t scare him away. She really didn’t want to lose someone that she wanted to get close to, since well she had no friends. She was pretty lonely and needed to expand her horizons. She shifted her gaze towards the ground and sighed wishing right now her father would just go away.

Pinkie heard the father’s words and looked down for a moment. He had always been a little self-conscious of his color. It was something he really didn’t like, but he was just going to have to get use to it. Not everyone saw eye to eye with the fact that he was a kalona as well as being pink. It amused most. “Yes I am.” He said looking up at the stallion for a moment then over to Ophelia. “It’s alright. I’m use to this kind of behavior.” He told her with a nod. He looked back at Swift Wind wondering if there was something else he was going to say or if that was the only thing on his mind. “Your welcome. No matter what your always at a risk of facing danger out here in the lands. It’s not always safe.” He told the stallion as he took a few steps away from the two.
“I should get going.” He told them both feeling a little awkward especially since it seemed like her father didn’t really want him around. “But I do want you to know that I’m not like all the other kalona you might have heard about and I’m not full kalona even though I look it.” He told her father before looking over to the mare with a small smile. He had to at least tell her goodbye. He still had little hope of ever seeing her again. “Goodbye Ophelia and I hope we meet again someday. I don’t know if we will, but you never know. “ He nodded then slowly walked away from her. He had a strange feeling in his gut like he shouldn’t be leaving her. He felt sad and it was an emotion he really wasn’t use to feeling. He let out a sigh and continued to walk slowly forcing himself not to look back since he didn’t want her to see how sad he looked right now.

“It’s okay. I’m pink so as a fellow pink stallion I can relate.” He was after all a self-claimed knight. Even though he had no princess to protect unless he considered his daughter the one he protected a princess. He gave a light smile at the kalona “Understood. I was careless to allow my daughter to wander so far!” he would never do that again. At least not without someone present, his daughter is precious and since she was once kidnapped by a pirate he felt the need to protect her more.
It was probably his fault for not training her to fight and raising her like a delicate little flower. He glanced at Ophelia and noticed her expression change when the kalona said he was leaving. His gut twisted and he nodded “Take care, if you do happen to be in the area. You are allowed to visit.” Perhaps that would be alright? Would that make things better? He did after all owe this Pinkie fella something….
Ophelia blinked “Oh…okay! Well I hope to see you again! Goodbye Prince Pinkie!” she smiled after him. She watched as he started to head off and something gripped at her heart strings. She didn’t want to see him leave. She didn’t want to be alone again. She looked away and glanced at her father who was watching the kalona.
Her father just looked to her and smiled then turned around to head off towards their herd. She sighed and followed after her father. She glanced back to only barely make out Pinkie in the distance. Was this how her life would be? Alone?
