Blush trotted out of her storefront, floating a basket in front of her as she closed and locked the door behind her. Blushing Bride's event planning business was located in a lovely and prime location in phonyland and Blush had taken great care in the decoration and upkeep of her offices. Modern, luxurious, classy -- those were the bywords of her brand.
The only thing that had sunk the view of her business, in her estimation, was the awful gourmet popcorn shop that had long taken its place beside hers. All day long she had to suffer through the smells of popcorn and whatever other ingredients the shop proprietor decided on that day -- garlic, cheese, caramel, cinnamon, whatever! She had been overjoyed when Popped Secret finally decided to move his store closer to the amusement park's center.
But then there had been NOTHING next door, and while that smelled exponentially better, it wasn't a very exciting look to have nothing beside her business. Weeks passed, and finally a new tenant had arrived! And Blush, carefully arranging her hair and making a welcome basket that included a lovely wedding-themed cupcake, pamphlets about all the stores on the street, and little bags of Jordan almonds, steeled herself for meeting whomever the new shop owner was.
Whomever it was, and whatever their business, it HAD to be better than another popcorn shop...

Hidden Hearts stood in the middle of her modern looking office and peered around at her handiwork. It had been weeks of planning where to place her various potted plants, where she wanted her desk and the much more plush client seating, and the color scheme of the entire affair. It had taken her three times as long for her to find her brand and how to market it accordingly. But- Here she was. With a sign before her that in bold letters read: "Hearts & Hooves". Written in delicate script beneath was "professional match-making and dating services". She just needed to step outside and put it in it's proper place above the door.
The blinds on the windows and entry way were drawn. It came as a great shock then when she opened the door, stepped under her new awnings, and was greeted with the sight of a white unicorn and a basket of treats.Atmadja Quote totally worked! Eeee~ It's happening!

Blush was busy looking for any sign of what laid within the shop front when the door opened. She started gently, flushing with surprise, as her eyes reoriented and found the brown unicorn standing before her.
Her first reaction was elation. The new proprietor was attractive and well-groomed, and there was no scent of popcorn or any other food that wafted out of the open door. Her second reaction, which occurred when she dipped her eyes and read the placard the mare carried, was a truly surprised pleasure. A matchmaking service!? What on earth were the odds?
"Oh!" she said, realizing it had taken her an extra moment to speak. "I'm sorry -- I'm Blushing Bride, I'm the owner of the store just next door." She flashed a brilliant smile, holding out the welcome basket. "I just wanted to come by and say welcome to the neighborhood!"

Hearts blinked in confusion as it took her a moment to register that she was being spoken to. The basket was for ... her? She glanced at the store front next door and felt like an idiot that she hadn't even thought about there being someone there.
"Oh," she stuttered out. "This is very nice of you. Thank you."
She spoke slowly to concentrate on getting the words out without her speech impediment getting in the way and her voice was soft.
"Would you like to come inside?"

Already, Blush was charmed by her soft-spoken neighbour. She seemed surprised to see her, but Blush tried quickly to assuage any shock by softening her own smile and taking a half-step back.
"I would love to, if course," she said, pleased. "But would you like any help putting that sign up, first?"
She nodded down toward the placard still beside Hidden, encouraging. "I would hate to get in the way of your preparations! A matchmaking shop? How lovely!"

"O-oh, yes, please." She answered carefully. She pointed with her hoof to the rod she wanted to hang her sign from and smiled.
"Thank you."
Once the placard was in place, she opened the door for her guest with a smile. "It's always been a hobby of mine to match-make my friends in my head," she explained, "and now I'm just putting my ... skills to use."
She opened the blinds and curtains to let natural light into the room and headed to the comfy chairs in the middle of the space.
"I apologize, though. I've been so excited to start that I d-didn't pay much attention to the other businesses around me. What is it that you do?" A look of guilt flashed across her face in the color of an embarrassed blush. She couldn't believe she'd let herself be so self-centered.

It was the work of only a few moments for the unicorn to help put up the sign on the new rod. It was a lovely-designed sign, Blush thought, and well-suited to the rest of the street.
"What a lovely hobby! People do so well when they find a mate, and it's really quite enchanting to see." Blush smiled sweetly. She walked into the shop and seated herself in one of the available chairs. "I think it's wonderful you do such a job. And to be honest, it helps me out!"
She laughed. "Don't worry about not knowing the street. I'm next door to you. I run a wedding and event planning business. If I see any lonely bridesmaids, you better believe I'll be sending them your way! Other than me, we have a seamstress, a baker, and a wine lounge on the street. All very lovely people. A little further there is a few boutiques."

She let it all sink in. A wedding planner, a match maker, a wine boutique, a seamstress, and a baker. All they needed was a candlestick maker and they'd have ...
"Our street is a one-stop shopping experience for a complete wedding package. Right down to forming the wedding couple."
A giggle spilled out her. What were the odds?!
"That should be on a sign at the start of our little avenue."

Blush began to laugh. "Oh my gosh, you're right! How did I never notice that before? We should get everyone together and ask them about it. You know, I've even used Pinot Noir's collection for a wedding before! That's so funny…"
She smiled broadly. "You certainly fit in with us better than the last phony who was here, Popped Secret. It's nice to have a lovely mare here and not the smell of popcorn 24 hours a day!"

Hearts let herself laugh along with Blush. Her eyes widened in mild horror at the mention of Popped Secret. She wasn't usually one to talk negatively about anything but the popcorn smell ... She frowned a little.
"I can't even begin to tell you how much work went into literally scrubbing the combined stench of butter, caramel, chocolate, and cheese out of everything. It was in the walls."
She waved a hoof as though trying to rid the thought and any imagined lingering scent away.
"Oh, I'm so glad that you came by to visit. It's wonderful to know I get along with my new neighbor."
She hadn't even really stuttered this whole time. That was a victory.

"You didn't! Oh, no! I wish we'd all have known, I'm sure everyone on the block would have come in to help you!" Blush gasped at Hearts' mention of her having to scour the walls, her eyes widening. She could easily imagine the amount of work it must have taken the mare to make the place as comfortable and inviting as it was now. The whole place spoke of hard, earnest work... Blush found herself hoping, very badly, that the business would take off quickly for her neighbour.
"Well, you should know that it looks and smells just wonderful now. It's a really lovely place you've set up here." Blush rose. She didn't want to burden Hidden Hearts too much when she just meant to welcome her to the street! But part of her was hopeful that the two mares could meet up again soon and talk for longer. "I'm really happy to have you moved in here. Oh -- here's my card."
She floated it out of the welcome basket she'd prepared. "I'd love to show you around here, if you're interested!" Blush smiled broadly.

Hearts graciously took the card she was offered and delicately put it on her desk. As she did so a subtle green shimmer collected her own business card. She directed it towards Blush and smiled.
"It's only fair to offer you mine as well! It has my personal number on there as well ... Of course, I should probably change that eventually."
She giggled quietly to herself at the thought of desperate couples calling her at home to gab about their first dates. A slow blush spread across her cheeks thinking about it, but oh! There was a guest here still!
"Thank you, so much, for your lovely comments and the welcome basket!"
She eyed the cupcake and made note to eat that as soon as she was alone again. The almonds would look so pretty in a glass dish on her desk and the pamphlets would certainly come in handy. Though maybe not as handy as a tour of the area.
"Am I interested? Oh, very much so!"
She became all business in pulling out a calendar and personal date book. It wasn't that she was particularly swamped, she'd just opened after all, but rather she'd set aside very specific days to tackle different tasks. Hearts poured over the pages quickly before looking up at Blushing Bride.
"How does a week from today sound?"Atmadja Do you want to do the last post and we can call this one done? <3
