Winter surely wasn't' far off now. Maisie could tell that much by the bone chilling breezes in the late afternoon as the sun kissed the horizon. Often times she watched, wondering if her mate was out there doing the same. Wondering if he often thought of her sweetly as she did of him. Being alone was a hard pill to swallow but what was even worse was wondering why she was alone. Raiden had been there one day and then gone the next without say. Maisie had worn her hooves down in search of him, venturing far out of her comfort zone many a times but never finding her beloved.

This search would explain why the Maisie was so far from the forest in which she called home. Night wasn't far off and shelter was a necessity for the defenseless Cerynei. A cave could be seen at the base of a small mountain and by the looks of it the darkness had much room to spare. Slowly she approached and clicked her tongue at the mouth of the cave, hearing echos in response. It was deep, and a good place to hide. The mare began to venture inside with cautious footsteps.

The winter was one of Camilla's favorite time of year. The nights were long and the world became pure white and quiet. Everything felt so calm at winter time. It came in only second to fall. Autumn had the added benefit of not being completely devoid of food.

It was the need for food that woke Camilla up, or at least she thought that's what it was. Her stomach rumbled softly as her bright red eyes opened. She blinked a few times to clear her vision. It was dusk, she could tell by the orange hue to the stream of light that shone on the wall across from Camilla's sleeping spot. From the entrance one had to travel down a stretch and go around a curve to reach Camilla's "room." As she was observing the light a shape appeared in it, a shadow. Camilla blinked to make sure she wasn't seeing things. The shadow was joined by an unusual clicking sound and then the slow fall of footsteps on the stone floor.

Camilla frowned and shook herself off. She had company and there was no telling whether it was friendly or not. Camilla had had her fair share of wicked creatures and she didn't want to deal with another, especially not right after waking up.

"Who's there?" She called her voice rasping slightly, tongue and throat still dry from sleep. Hopefully that didn't make her sound too unpleasant if the visitor were a friend. If they were a foe she hoped it made her sound entirely vicious so that she might avoid fighting to save herself. She didn't care to hurt anyone.

"Who's there?" called a rather phantasm-like voice. Maisie's first instinct was to freeze, much like a dear in headlights might do. Then came the processing. The voice wasn't masculine, and that was a blessing to the mare who was faint of heart. This female in particular had been scorn many times by a stallion and from a young age it imprinted a negative impression. Now the female was extremely weary of all stallions despite their disposition. Mares and foals on the other hand were quite respected and cared for. Oh yes, even the nastiest of characters would fall victim to Maisie's sweet disposition. With a voice as sweet as honey and mannerism that surpassed your average Soquili it was no surprise this gentle Cerynei had quite a handful of the more delightful friends. Perhaps it was the appreciation she had for them that made those select few so loyal.

The purple hued doe began to venture in a bit deeper just to possibly capture a view of this cryptic stranger. "Forgive me for intruding but the sun is setting and I have no place to stay for the night. You see, I am traveling in search of somebody and I am a great distance from my own home. Might it be possible for me to rest here for the night? I promise to not be a bother." The soft spoken creature cautiously stepped in further, venturing down the stretch of stony path before noticing a corner.

Maisie's eyes weren't well adjusted to the lighting in this cavern so upon seeing a silhouette she wasn't initially startled. There were wings. A great deal of them at that. Judging by their soft shape they were feathered. A good sign to a girl who wasn't so terribly fond of Kalona or their crude temperaments. "I hope I'm not trespassing or disturbing you," she laid her wishes out, nervously shifting hoof to hoof.

The steps stopped as soon as Camilla's voice had called out, for the briefest of moments she thought she might have deterred the stranger just by speaking. Then a voice replied and the steps began once more. It was a soft voice, almost like a mouse, and the words were nothing but polite. Camilla allowed herself to relax. This was no mountain beast that had come in, only a weary traveler. Needing a place to stay and rest was no unfamiliar sensation to the angeni being quite the traveler herself. She stretched her wings out before tucking them into her sides.

As she finished settling herself she noticed that the other had already found their way back into the cave. Camilla smiled softly. "No, it's fine. I was just waking up." She said gently glancing to the ceiling. Her bat still clung to the roof, asleep. That wouldn't last for long. She turned back to face the stranger, she was as dark as Camilla was light and boasted a delicate frame. The hooves, antler stubs, and tails gave her away as a cerynei, a breed not known for any love of violence.

"The cave is yours to use. As soon as my friend wakes up we'll be heading out anyway." She nodded her head toward the bat to ensure that the other could follow what she was talking about. It wasn't her cave to dictate who could stay and who couldn't. She was only a visitor to it herself.
