Holly Wulf

"Who is afraid of the big bad wolf?"

As Holly had walked up to the mic, she had pulled off the deep red hood off from over her head. Smiling brightly to the judges, Holly bowed politely to each one of them. "Hello everyone, My name is Holly Wulf, and I am glad that I was chosen for this competition. I am only 16, so this is a real honor." Holly said with an earnest smile plastered onto her face. "Well, I do have to say, out of all the maaany kinds of music out there, my favoritist of favorite kind would have to be country music. So for everyone, I will be singing Little Red Riding Hood" Then, after finishing her introduction, Holly started humming to herself the music that usually went with the song, her eyes calmingly closed as she did so. "Hey there little red riding hood~ You sure are looking good~ Your everything a big bad wolf could want~ " As Holly sung the song, she put her heart into every word she said, keeping to the mood that she knew in her head. "What big eyes you have~ The kind of eyes that drive wolves mad~ Just to see that you don't get chased~ I think I oughta walk with you for a ways~" Every word she sang, rehearsed to herself multitudes of times before, contained an essence that seemed similar to Holly herself. "What a big heart I have~ The better to love you with~ Little red riding hood~ Even bad wolves can be good~" As she came up on the last few parts of the song, Holly started to give that extra oomph, just to try to catch the attention of the judges. "What full lips you have~ They are sure to lure someone bad~ So until you get to grandma's place~ I think you oughta walk with me and be safe~" As Holly had came to the end of the song, she politely bowed again to each of the judges "Thank you for listening to my entry."

Judges' Comments:

Gabi: "Over already...?"

Mitsuru: "The performance was certainly adequate, however, the choice of song...was, well...sometimes it's best not to go with something so obvious. Lest it feel tacky..."

Kai: "My god, I didn't realize I'd be forced to listen to a little girl try to sing. Do you even listen to yourself? Does that hood come with ear plugs? Are you just tuning it out? Because if not, I don't know how you can possibly sound like that."

"Yeouch! And a scorching review from Raidou. But, it looks like the crowd enjoyed the performance, and I hear some fans rooting for an encore already! Alright ladies and gentleman, it's time we move on to our next contestant! A prominent local and up an' coming figure, you'd think this guy was too busy enforcing rules to practice his singing. Well we'll find out if he has the pipes, so lets give it up foooor Mataki Hiiitoo!"

Mataki raised his hand as a piano began to ring out, keys playing a slow melody to lead in to the song. His other hand held the microphone up as the song began, and he glanced over the audience, giving himself the courage to performance he needed. Wanting to sway other people moved him, and instead of a bead of sweat, he felt a smile slide over his face, a smooth grin that signaled his comfort. It was time to begin. "Blue jean baby, L.A. lady, seamstress for the band~" The song was an Elton John classic, and though it came from some years ago, it rang out as true today to him as it did in it's own time. He wanted something that came from the soul, and Tiny Dancer was a song that spoke to the heart just like that. "Pretty eyed, pirate smiiile, you'll marry a music man. Ballerina, you must have seen her...dancing in the saand~ And now she's in me, always with me, tiny dancer in my hand~" Eh, you get the rest.

I'm gonna kill whoever signed me up for this.
The less than flattered repeat senior slowly made his way out onto stage, the Emcee's introduction was similarly well received, before he picked up the Mic. He waved slightly at the crowd, seeing a few familiar faces....before the music started to pick in, a steady guitar accompanied by some background music. Hope I don't screw this up, and flub the lines...
Time counted down in his head, giving him a Rhythm to go on. Three..two...one....
"He was sitting there beside me....Throwing doubles down." he started, lightly tapping his foot to keep Rhythm. "When he ordered up his third one...he looked around....Then he looked at me.." His eyes glanced around, as if looking for someone in particular. "And said....I do believe...I'll have one more."
Almost subconsciously, his eyes glanced through the judge's table, at the new Raidou.
"He said 'I hate this Bar....and I hate to Drink." he continued, likely not winning him any favors. "but on second thought...Tonight I think..."
Definitely no favors. But, as he glanced over Kai again, he continued.
"I Hate Everything."
He gave the music some time to fill the silence, as he started to look around at the crowd again.
"Then he opened up his billfold...and threw a twenty down." Jo(shu) continued, his hands starting to feel a bit restless. "and a faded photograph fell out....And hit the ground."
He started to move slightly at this, bending at the knees.
"And I picked it up......He said 'Thank ya Bud'....I put it in his hand." he called, making the gesture, as his eyes started to wander back.
"He said 'I probably ought to throw this one away." he called, making the movement like he was holding it. "Cause she's the reason...I feel this way....."
Another small pause, before he put his soul into it.
"I hate...Everythinnnnng."
His eyes glanced around again, as he continued the song, now singing with himself in mind, rather than anyone else..
"I hate my job......And I Hate my life.." he added, glancing about the audience. "And if it weren't for my few kids...I'd hate my ex-wife."
He may have missed one line...but it was less about mimicking the lyrics at this point, and more....from his own experiences.
"I know I should move on.....Try to start again..." he called, now thinking to his family...both, prior to moving, and current. "But I just can't get over....Her leaving me for him.."
His eyes glanced over again, before starting to look down.
"Then he shook his head...and looked down at his ring."
He glanced downward again, and took a breath.
"Said 'I Hate Everything."
He continued to sing through the rest of the song, making little movements through it...but his eyes making no more prominent movements...Or focusing on someone in particular.
As the song started to wind down, he slowed his own movements, glancing about, thinking about someone in particular...though, it was impossible to tell whom from looking at him.
"So I pulled out my phone...and I called my house." he stated, making the gesture once more. "I said 'Babe I'm coming home...We're gonna work this out......'"
He paused once more, before glancing back at Kai.
"I paid for his Drinks...and I told him 'Thanks'."
He looked at the crowd once more, almost thinking he saw a familiar shade of purple hair, thinking of his former master...as he poured his soul into the last line.
"Thanks for...Every....Thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiing."

Lights flickered across the stage as a bunnygirl moved onto the stage, a song welling out from her heart and flowing across the stage. "Looking in your eyes, I see a paradise~ This world that I found is too good to be true~" She winked at the audience. "Standing here beside you, I want so much to give you~ This love in my heart that I'm feeling for you~" Bringing the microphone close to her lips, and singing with all of her passion, "Let them say we're crazy~ I don't care about that~ Put your hand in my hand, baby, don't ever look back~ Let the world around us just fall apart~ Baby we can make it if we're heart to heaaaart~"

Okay...calm down..and focus. You can do this. the girl thought to herself, as the two previous singers finished their songs in turn. Jo(shu) had a rather simple, quiet song...and the bunny girl...
"No...I can do this.." she called, standing on her toes, and holding her hands up, backstage. "I can do this.."
A figure cued her on...And she turned, a determined expression on her face....before she darted out, the music picking up before she would even introduce herself. She quickly moved into position, and pulled the mic to her lip, bouncing on her feet as she started.
"What if everyone skipped down....." she called, gently rocking around. "Along the city streets that run all throughout the town?"
She stepped back at this, and started to kick her feet out slightly.
"Imagine if they met up in the city's heart....." she called lightly "And one by one they held hands, and gazed into the night sky..."
She then stood back up, moving back and forth with her words.
"If everyone would look around from where they stand..." she glanced around the audience at this, gauging their reaction. "And open up and learn to give and take a chance...."
She swept her hands around, glancing at the audience, with a bright smile.
"Then that would be the hope to chase away my cries....So don't you fret, just live with your held held High....Iyai Iyai~"
At this, the tempo of the song quickly shifted, Ellie spinning on her feet to match the bouncy, upbeat song.
"Pon Pon, set it free..Come on let the crazy show!" she called, her hands moving along her face at this. "Be~cause, if you don't..Life would be so dull you know."
She moved to the side at this, holding her ears for the next lyrics.
"Head Phones, at full blast.....Rhythm's got me pumped at last.....Way way Open road..."
Wink
"Got to make it on my own." She bounced back, not skipping a beat.
"Pon Pon, Can't you see? Endless poss~i~Bil~i~ties."
She moved her hand over her chest, gesturing outward at this.
"Don Don...Hear that beat? Sounds like it's your heart to me."
She gestured outward, towards someone in the audience.
"Boy boy, Stay with me...Don't abandon what could be." she mused, putting on a bright smile. "Yeah yeah, that's the way....Ah, You make me Hap~Py."
The song started to ease on the tempo ever so slightly, as she started to sing the easy part, lightly moving in place, before the tempo kicked in again.
"Pon pon, Set it free...Come on let the crazy show.." she continued, bouncing as she went over the lyrics once more, getting to another stage, and honestly having a great time with herself. Even if she didn't win....
"Pon pon, Waywayway..Pon Pon WayPon way Pon pon...way way, ponponpon...Way way pon Way Pon way way..."
She backed up a bit again, before continuing.
"Pon Pon, WayWayWay Pon pon way pon way pon pon....Way way, pon pon pon...Way Pon way Pon way way.."
The music prompted some more fluffy dancing at this, follwed by some clapping in sequence...before returning back to the first lyrics once again.
"What if every~one skipped down.."
And, after several more charged, energetic minutes, the music finally died down, giving her time to make a deep, healthy bow, her exhaustion thankfully not having caught up with her just yet. It was a tiring song..but it was fun!]

The girl walked over to the stage with her head high, self-confidence radiating off her. She was comfortable on stage, not being new to the show biz; and as she stopped in front of the mic, eyes turned to the public. "Primadonna girl~ yeaaah" The music started along with her voice, a lopsided grin appearing on her lips. "All I ever wanted was the world...I can't help that I need it all...The primadonna life, the rise and fall ~ You say that I am kind of difficult, but it is always someone else's fault~ Got you wrapped around my finger, babe...You can count on me to misbehave." A finger twirled her long hair, as she winked at the audience.

"Primadonna giiiirl~"

"Would you do anything for me? Buy a big diamond ring for me?" She moved around the stage, her hips swaying playfully, almost whimsical. "Would you get down on your knees for me? Pop that pretty question right now, baaaby~"

Haruto Mashiba, Dashing Rogue and Mysterious Fool
"...The silence echoes through me, like the voices of the ones I've lost. It's better to live with their whispers than with nothing at all..."

And to close the show, after all the performances energetic, mailed in, or otherwise...out came a young man with pale skin and hair over one eye. In his hands was a guitar that had already been plugged into an amp behind the stage, his lips curled into a smile that could only be interpreted as a near-perfect blend of confidence and amusement. Which, in the case of Haruto Mashiba, could only mean that something strangely awesome was about to happen...emphasis on 'strange'. And that was when the music kicked in; the lights dimming, and icy blue strobes flashing all around the facility in-time with the sudden powerful riff of the guitar filling the entire auditorium. Was this...? Before one had time to consider the answer, he was suddenly singing...a powerful, shamelessly punk rendition of...

"The snow glows white on the mountain tonight, not a footpriiint to be seeen~" the words began and those in the room had to be wondering just what would have possessed him to try, "A kingdom of ice-olation...and it looks liiiiike I'm the Queen!"

Yep. He was doing 'Frozen'. And by the way he rocked the guitar and sidled up to the mic with his smile, head and body rocking and nodding to the beat with each strong note, he was absolutely going for it. Now, others with less confidence or certainty of their own masculinity might not have had the sheer bravado to rock a Disney ballad in a talent contest before the rest of the world, but if you thought that Haruto lacked for any of those things, you really didn't know him at all. His eye shimmered as he plowed through the first verse with a smirking wink towards the first female eye he caught in the crowd (he hoped it was Noelle out there for his own sake), belting out note after note of his punk-inspired send-up of Princess Elsa and her considerably talented voice actress. And as he raised his hand at a dead spot in the guitar, motioning the crowd to chant 'Hey!' and sing along with him, he was completely owning this thing. Why not, right? What was the worst that could happen? He had fun, people enjoyed themselves, laughed, sang, and everyone went home with a story to tell? He could deal with that kind of thing with panache.

And the song went on...

"Don't let them in, don't let them see! Be the good girl you always had to be! Conceal, don't feel. Don't let them knoooooow~" his hand ripped across the strings emphatically as the chorus soon came calling, and with a wild leap into the air he came down and hammered the note, REALLY playing to the crowd and energizing the room before at last the line they were all waiting for came...demonstrating at the same time his audacity and his considerable talent, "Let it gooooo~! Let it gooooo~! Can't hold it back anymoooore~!" Moving up to the mic and singing hard, strumming to the upbeat punk tempo of the revised song, he continued to bring the house down until at last his time was nearly up...and with a flourish he let the music drop out for the grand finale. "Let the stoooorm rage ooooooon~!"

He practically purred into the mic as he put his ribbon on the entertaining spectacle, his smile a thousand watt and his confidence as unshakeable as ever.

"The cold never bothered me anyway..."

...

Well, that was a thing.

The lights dimmed, slowly focusing towards the center of the stage. Soulful singing had been his forte in the first round, and he felt that perhaps it would work for him again...a fact that quickly became apparent in the melody."I close my eyes and I keep seeing things...rainbow waterfalls...sunny liquid dreams. Confusion creeps into me way on down...got to get to you...but I don't know how..." The song was just as slow as before, but this time shunned a piano for a guitar. He might not have been a musician, but the focus here was singing, not his skills with the instruments that accompanied him. "Call me, caaaaall me~ Let me know it's alright. Call me, call me. Haruto Mashiba, Dashing Rogue and Mysterious Fool
"...The silence echoes through me, like the voices of the ones I've lost. It's better to live with their whispers than with nothing at all..."

The lights on the stage had been dimmed to a pitch black; nothing was visible on the platform following the previous performance. Whispers amongst the crowd could be heard in anticipation of the coming song, knowing that whatever was to come was likely to be even better than the last round for all of the competitors. But the silence lingered on a little longer than perhaps they had expected, the darkness shrouding whatever preparations were being made until the very last second. All the auditorium was at a hush at last...a silhouette made its way from backstage slowly, until at last it faded into the shadows on the stage...somewhere near the center.

And then...the music hit. A haunting, twinkling melody that was...familiar...? And yet, a little riff in there that hinted towards an alteration...was he really...?

"Rah! Rah! Ah-ah-ahhh~! Roma! Roma~mamaa~!" the voice suddenly pierced the dark, cutting like a knife...the music firing up sharply behind him as a sickly green spotlight settled upon the figure of the singer, who seemed to be hunched over on his knees at the center of the stage as if ailing from...something? "Ga Ga! Ooh~la~laaaaa!" ...Yes, this was seriously happening.

"Want your Bad Romaaaance~!"

A very-slightly punk-version of the Lady Gaga baby-speak/unpleasant relationship classic was filling the auditorium with its incredibly unexpected sound, and on the stage, the young man with the pale skin's eyes shot up from the ground and he suddenly reached out with a hand as if gripping at something...someone...desperate, needy, and...was he smirking as he goofed about on stage?! "I want your ugly...I want your disease...I want your looove...LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, I want your looove~" the verse began with his eyes sharply upon the crowd, latching onto the first girl he could find (praying it was Noelle, again, for his own safety) to dig deep into her with his gaze and sing his words into the pit of her...and the crowd's...stomachs, "I want your drama, the touch of your haaaand...I want your leather-studded kiss in the sand...I want your looooove...LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, I want your looove~". If there was one thing Haruto seemed to have in spades, it was performance talent and a distinct lack of nerves. Selling the sickness of the song and lyrics was one thing, singing a strange song, but to do it with this much aplomb and gusto was something that truly sold the incredible stage presence that he put forth into the performance. How do you upstage a clean-cut classic like 'Let it Go?" ...Of course, he'd thought when choosing his song...you get dirty. Retching his body, reaching out with a crooked arm, he clutched at something unseen and crawled slowly towards the front of the stage...the microphone attached to his ear picking up the words as he belted out the words and moved slowly, achingly, towards the crowd before him.

By the time he'd reached the front of the stage he appeared tired...his gaze wild, his body slowly straightening from the crawling position...hand reaching, pulling...dragging him slooowly to his feet as his lips curled into an almost desperate, crazed smile...

"You know that I want you...you know that I need you..." his voice was soft and strong at the same time, finger raising to point out into the crowd, latching onto someone and holding them...working the crowd in a sensual, direct manner that...didn't exactly match his gender...? And yet somehow with all his bravado it seemed to be working...? "I want it baaad...your bad romance

And then he was up, the lights suddenly flashing on stage, green strobe lights pouring throughout the arena as if infecting each and every set of eyes watching him with the madness and intensity of the song...the beat pulsating, his voice cutting through the auditorium and filling every ear with the chorus of a song they all knew, but never, EVER expected to hear performed quite like this!

"I want your loooove~aaaand all your lover's revenge!" he belted out, moving along the stage and dragging his finger with him, leaning forward at the end of each line, then reeeling back as if stricken... "You and me could write a baaad romaaaance...WhoaaawhoaaawhoaaAAA! Caaaught in a bad romaaaance~"

...

It was entirely possible he was just completely out of his mind at this point. There wasn't any way this could have possibly been planned, right?

"You stole my song, you little s**t!" Backstage, the girl made her tantrum, fuming and stomping her heel on the floor. Pouty lips shifted then, though...after all...everyone in this kind of show needed a second plan, no?

The lights were bright in the stage, a spotlight in the center of the platform as Mirai's turn came by. Though, there was no one to be seen. Music began nonetheless, a little tune before her voice echoed. "We clawed, we chained our hearts in vain...we jumped never asking whyyy...We kissed, I fell under your spell....A love no one could deny..." Still no sign of the girl as the song continued. "Don't you ever say I just walked away...I will always want you..."

... ... Wait...

"I CAME IN LIKE A WRECKING BAAALL..."

Was she-? Did she really-? Wha-?

And that she did. She swung in a wrecking ball. As she sang. No, she wasn't naked.

Jo(shu) Michieru

Jo(shu) was rather surprised that he'd been accepted enough to make it to the second round of the singing contest.
Sucks Ellie wasn't here instead. he thought, shaking his head as the girl snapped at the boy with an earring, for stealing her song. He smirked a bit, before silently thankful he was the only one singing his genre. Soon enough, the girl finished her song, coming in like...
Well.. he thought, as he started out. They're gonna be dissappointed with me closing this round out...
He started out at this, exchanging a polite smile with the girl as he moved to the stand, bowing slightly to the judges....Before picking up the Microphone. He snapped his fingers slightly, as some music started to fire up...Some rather up tempo music as he wordlessly nodded at the crowd. Fiddles played sharply, before it built up...And he cleared his voice...
"The Devil Went Down To Georgia, He was looking for a soul to steal." he started, a bit more up tempo than usual.
"He was in a bind, cause he was way behind...He was willing to make a deal.. When he came across this young man sawing on a fiddle, and playing it hot....And the Devil jumped up on a hickory stump, and he said 'Boy let me tell you what.."
He leaned in, like he was whispering, clearly playing the parts of the people in the song.
"I bet you didn't know it, but I'm a fiddle player too. And if you care to take a dare, I'll make a bet with you...Now you play a pretty good fiddle, boy, but give the Devil his due....I'll bet a fiddle of Gold, against your soul, cuz I think I'm better than you."
He barely paused for a breath, before pulling back at this, preparing for the second role.
"The boy said 'My name's Johnny, and it might be a sin, But I'll take your bet, you're gonna regret...Cause i'm the best there's ever been."
The song continued, Jo(shu) singing every role in turn, shifting his voice every so often to differentiate between the group....Before coming up one the last lines in particular.
"Devil just come on back, if you ever wanna try again." he called, giving a firm, confident smirk. "Cause I told you once, you son of a b***h...I'm the best there's ever been."

Gabi: "He's a good guy!"

Mitsuru: "While the performance was thoroughly entertaining, I can't help but notice there's not a lot of vocal difficulty in this song...but given the last two performances, I'm not even sure it matters. For better or worse..."

Kai: "Georgia is Hell. Reminding me about it does you no favors."

Jo(shu) Michieru

Wow...didn't think I'd make it this far. Shu thought to himself, glancing around the backstage. The girl who managed to bring in a wrecking ball didn't seem too pleased, and the purple haired soulful president was passed over. He was now alone with the mysterious figure with a stud earring. Someone that, unknown to him, was in fact an infamous leader of his own unofficial radio station..But, ignorance is bliss, yeah?
Shu started around backstage, trying to psyche himself up.
Alright..Finals. Gotta sing something powerful. Something emotional! Something...
He stumbled a bit at this, before seeing his green haired friend. [who was likely the reason he was in this mess in the first place.]

"Oh, there you are." Ellie remarked, before holding out a small envelope. "Somebody told me to give these to you."
Jo(shu) hesitated for a moment, before something clicked..and he smiled.
"Ah, Got it." he called, taking the envelope and starting along. "Thanks Ellie!"

"You're...welcome..?"
==========================================================
Jo(shu) had it all planned in his head..and was getting into position. While he couldn't match his opponent in the rock category...He had a plan...One that might work. But, as he took his position...The music slowly started in.
It's time.. he thought, before holding up the microphone, as the music started in..a somber, easy beat. He pulled out a piece of paper from his coat, and held it out to the audience, showing it was empty...but....
"My dear Son, it's almost June." he started, as if reading from the note. "I hope this letter catches up with you...and finds you well..."
He paused a bit, transitioning paragraphs.
"It's been dry, but they're calling for rain.." he added, still in the same easy tone. "And everything's the same old same...In Johnsonville.. Your stubborn old daddy ain't said too much...."
A flicker of his eyes towards the audience from a bit of movement, before he went back to the song.
"But I'm sure you know he sends his love...And she goes on.....In a letter from home.."
He gave a light pause, before raising the envelope at this.
"I hold it up, and show my buddies...Like we ain't scared, and our boots ain't muddy."
"And they all laugh..like there's something funny about the way I talk... When I say 'Mama sends her best Y'all...."
Another short pause, before he brought it back down, lowering his eyes again.
"I fold it up, and put it in my shirt." he mused, doing just that. "Pick up my gun, and get back to work.....And it keeps me going on.....Waiting on...."
He pulled the envelope out at this, gesturing.
"Letters from home.."

He mused over the next lines, regarding the letter as if from a lover...Though, after he pushed the last one into his pocket, his hands pulled out the third one, having thought it was a prop. However...As he opened the last one, he seemed to pause a bit. There was writing on this one...Though, most people wouldn't be able to tell from the horrid writing.
"Dear Son, I know I ain't written.." he started, looking a tad shaken...but, determined to see his way through the song. "And sitting here tonight alone in the kitchen it occurs to me....."
He paused, looking like he was about to choke up.
"I might not have said it, so I'll say it now.." he stated, the lines on the paper meeting up with the song for a brief moment. "Son, you make me proud..."
A long, heavy silence filled the area at this....As one could notice Shu trembling on stage. A bit of water formed at his eyes..Making one wonder if the pressure got to him..before he held up the letter.
"I hold it up...And show my buddies...." he stated shakily. "Like we ain't scared...and our boots ain't muddy.....but no one laughs.. 'Cuz there ain't nothing funny when a solider cries."
He lowered the letter at this, and brushed his coat over his face.
"And I just..wipe my eyes."
Another long, somber pause with the music filling the gap..before he continued, aiming to see it through. He lowered the letter at this, back to his coat.
"I fold it up, and put it in my shirt..." he stated, near the end now. "Pick up my gun, and get back to work. And it keeps me driving on......"
Another pause, as his gaze went downward a bit. "waiting on....."
He paused again..before looking back up at the audience, a vaugely familiar head of hair leaving the area. Was that....
"Letters from hoooooome...."
