Recently, they'd come back from a mission. Or at least, Harland had, and almost everyone else he knew. He wagered Molly had as well, though he had neither the pleasure nor misfortune of meeting her on the mission; he was grateful that rather than see her potentially infected he had not seen her at all, which left him open to believe regardless that she had been spared that agony.
Harland had texted her to invite her out shopping, in fact. He had, a short while ago, spent the night with Alistaire in a relatively meaningful way. That had made him acutely aware there were certain things he needed to go buy, because he hadn't quite made the night a success in all the ways-- he had needed to improvise.
Being specifically vague.
In any case, Harland was NOT about to tell Molly what he needed to buy, but he very much wanted to go shopping with company, because shopping alone was kind of weird as far as he was concerned. And it was a great potential trip out to see the world, so why not ask for company? Harland waited near the portals, for Molly's arrival.
He had not eaten breakfast yet, though he did have a couple coffees in hand. Did Molly even drink coffee? He didn't know, actually. He shot her a quick text.lucyal Text to Molly from HarlandMorning, luv smile Do you drink coffee? See you soon.

This was, honestly, the most unexpected and pleasant surprise right now. It was also wholeheartedly welcome. That mission had thrown too many things in Molly's simple world for a loop, and one loop in particular, Dakota's change in behavior due to his recent Sahara mission, was heavy on her heart. Maybe getting off Island for a bit would help keep her spirits up...maybe? She was incredibly flattered and grateful that Harland had asked her of all people to join him on a much cherished time off trip...like incredibly honored. The hunter was skittering around her room in a bit of a rush to get ready, wearing a simple green button up baggy sweater with a tank top underneath, black leggings, and her usual boots. She pulled her hair back into a pony tail, checked to make sure she had her wallet, bit her lip, and then let out a startled noise as her phone went off. She scrambled for it, and immediately texted back: Face your demons Text to Harland:I love coffee! See you soon! Leaving my room right now! I'm sorry! She felt like she was running late, and zipped out her door, closing and locking it behind her before she started making a hurried dash to the light house portals. Once she was close enough, to offered Harland a flustered yet genuine smile in greeting. "I'm so sorry to keep you waiting!" She exclaimed, a bit out of breath.

Harland could not have thought of anyone whose company he'd enjoy more, after that depressing and terrifying mission. After all, they all needed friend time, right? Especially after, yeah, the stress of Deus-centric relationships probably was hitting a crescendo.
Besides, Molly had been a really nice influence on their emergency mission, and if Alistaire liked her and even trusted her enough to take only her along on one of their outings, Harland immediately trusted her, too.
At least the text said she liked coffee, that was good. Harland beamed at her, when she arrived, and held his arms open as if asking for a hug. "Molly, luv, I've got all the time in the world for ye today, an' waitin' for that pretty face is no trouble weighin' on my heart," he said, with a wink and one of his sunny smiles. "Brought an extra coffee for ye, too," he added, offering the tray out. A couple creams and some sugar packets with a stir stick were sitting in the middle of the tray.

Molly stared at his open arms as if she didn't grasp what he was asking before it clicked. "Oh!" She smiled sheepishly and moved closer, opening her own arms to give him a fond hug, squeezing him comfortably before releasing him. She ducked her head, blushing, and smiled in embarrassment. "A-ah...goodness...you're too kind! Thank you so much!" She then popped her head up and looked at the offered coffee, and for a moment, looked like she wanted to cry. It was a small gesture, but it was so unexpected and kind, and Molly had been having a rough time, that it hit her hard. "Thank you so much." Her voice was a bit thick with emotion as she took the cup, and took the offered couple creams and sugar packets as well. She worked in prepping her cup just the way she liked it, and then took a sip. "Heavenly!" She breathed.

Given Harland had been kind of absorbed in Alistaire for a while, he hadn't done much other than go work out, do mission-y things and then glancingly reconnect with friends he'd once made. Well, okay, and a lot of spars because they were fun and good planning for the future.
He didn't know how hard things had been on Molly, lately, or he would have asked her to do something like this a lot sooner.
His hug was warm and all-encompassing for a moment, like it wasn't just a gesture, but rather he legitimately wanted to hug her. Which, in fact, he did. Harland loved hugs from friends, and he could never resist making a cute chick smile. Not that he'd admit it in such a blunt way.
"Is it not the right kind??" he asked, suddenly concerned when she looked like she was going to cry, "Please forgive me if I've done somethin' offensive," he said, quickly, but when she thanked him, he relaxed a little. He didn't ask her what was wrong; not because he didn't care, but because he thought, perhaps, it would be impolite to pry.
He could find out later, maybe, in Molly's own time.
"Glad it suits," he said, visibly relieved. He took the tray and his own coffee towards the portal, offering the crook of his arm to Molly, to escort her in. "Ready for one o' the world's most fascinatin' shoppin' experiences?" Harland said, with a wide smile.
On the other side of the portal was a mall in Vegas, which had real canals inside, and they could ride boats to get from section to section. "I just need t' pick up a couple things from... hmmm... pharmaceuticals... shall we get breakfast first, Molly?"

The warmth of Harland's hug reminded her of Dakota...or the way Dakota used to be, and briefly, it made her sad. She hoped with all her heart that nothing utterly terrible would happen to Harland to make him change. She hoped nothing would happen that would make him stop giving hugs like that. "O-oh!" Molly waved her free hand reassuringly. "You've done nothing at all, I'm sorry! It's just..." She smiled a bit, staring down at the coffee. "It was such a nice gesture...it made me really happy." She then nodded her head enthusiastically. "A-ah yes!" She then paused, and gingerly placed her hand in the crook of his arm, nursing her coffee with the other. She wasn't sure where they were going, but it was apparent soon enough, and Molly's eyes went wide in pure awe. "Wowzers..." She breathed, staring every which way, especially at the water ways which were like the ones in Venice...complete with gondolas! WOAH! "A-alright!" Molly replied, managing to tear her eyes away from the extravagant mall to look back at Harland. "Oh, yes!" She smiled. "That'd be wonderful!"

If Molly knew the things that had made Harland the way he was, it was unlikely that anything ever would change him in the future. The one forseeable thing: if Alistaire ever stopped loving him, Harland would undoubtedly change. And not in a good way.
"Well, hope I can do nice things in the future, too, mo chailin," he said, with a wink. "Alright, the cafeteria is... well, now, let's see..." After some analysis, spinning, turning, and finally asking one of the gondola guys for directions, Harland figured out the way to food.
He just got a breakfast sandwich from the first place he found, preoccupied by the errands and wow this place had really nice stores. Ones he definitely thought Alistaire would appreciate. He'd have to pick up at least one gift. Sitting down with Molly and his sandwich and hopefully whatever Molly had purchased, Harland pulled out the map of the stores, and plotted a plan of attack.
"So I need, above all, t' get some stuff from the pharmacy here... then I need t' stop at this Renaissance housewares, an' at this shavin' place... sorry that won't be too interestin'... an' ah, I was goin' t' get Alistaire a gift-- Burberry? I think that's classy?..." Harland said, shrugging and smiling.
Right beside Burberry was a very upscale lingerie shop. Unbeknownst to Harland, that would also be a surprise stop. "Anywhere else ye need, Molly?"

Molly didn't at all mind it took them some time to find the cafeteria. She just continued to hold onto Harland's arm and sip her coffee with the other. She was just simply enjoying being out and about...and away from Deus. Upon coming to a place though, Molly also purchased a breakfast sandwich from there, and sat down with the other hunter. While nibbling on her sandwich, she leaned and quietly looked over the map with him. She needed a J.C. Penney's...and a ...Macy's.... ... She wasn't seeing any. Oh no. Her brows knitted. Such a ritzy mall, wow. Where was she supposed to shop for sweaters and pants and boots? Oh dear. Molly was pulled out of her thoughts as Harland listed off the stuff he needed to do, and she nodded her head vigorously. "Oh, that's alright! I don't think any of it will be boring at all!" She beamed at the mention of Alistaire. "How is he doing?" She asked, wondering if his ear would be ringing back on Deus now because they were talking about him. "Oh...um..." Molly glanced at the map before she sheepishly looked up at Harland. "...I just need to buy some...clothes. Sweaters and pants and...stuff like that...but the usual store I go to...isn't here..." She was at a loss. While having a boatload of money now, way more than she knew what to do with, she never thought to spend it at a high class store.

Harland's face was red, but he had a goofy smile on. He folded up the paper that had wrapped his breakfast sandwich, and set it aside to toss it out. He took another sip of his coffee. The last sip, actually.
"He's doin' wonderfully," Harland said, but the way he pronounced it sounded a lot more like he was saying he's wonderful. Which was, in fact, what he was thinking just then.
Harland wasn't subtle.
"Maybe we can all do somethin' together again sometime," he added. "Might help with the stress of livin' where we do."
Harland looked at the map, studied the directory names. "Why don't we try Ann Taylor then, first, mo chailin?" Harland asked her, with a smile. It was just regular stuff, wasn't it? He wasn't sure what kinds of sweaters she was looking for, but maybe Ann Taylor would work out.

Molly beamed back at Harland. "Oh, I'm so glad!" She gushed, clasping her hands together briefly. The last time, aside from the mission, she had seen Alistaire...she supposed they had what you'd call a moment, and since then she was able to see the man in a new light and even feel...closer to him! She thought it was nice. "That'd be wonderful!" She agreed whole heartedly, nodding her head before tilting it. "Ann Taylor...?" She echoed, and her green eyes rolled to the ceiling as she tried to recall the store. After a few moments, she could picture what they had, and nodded her head vigorously again. "Oh, yes! That'd be wonderful, thank you! If only you don't mind and if that's alright---"

Harland was happy to be around Molly, especially with the gushing-- he didn't get to be so openly into Alistaire most of the time, because they were a well-kept secret; in fact, he wasn't even sure how much Molly knew, or how much she'd figured out.
Enough, probably, by now or at least by the end of their trip.
Harland waited while Molly decided if that was acceptable.
"Molly, luv, I'm draggin' ye halfway across the mall to a handful o' stores, the least we can do is visit one for ye," Harland said, shaking his head and beaming. He reached across to try to grip Molly's hand warmly, squeeze it and let go.
He waited until she was done eating, and rose to his feet, using the map to navigate to the first store. The most important one, too. Yes, Harland was going to carry the condoms and lube around all day. He also didn't try to hide the fact he was going down that aisle.
