Slowly but surely, Nellie was getting better at interacting with other people. Or so she would like to think as she picked up her scarf then left her room to head to the cafeteria. This time for the purpose of meeting up with Roland, another Mist like herself but who seemed to have been around for far longer.
She had no idea at all that there were people who disliked the Mist division. Weren't the divisions supposed to all get along and work together? At least that was what she was told during the briefing that took place shortly after she awoke from her slumber in the pod. In any case, so long as someone was volunteering a history lesson that might help her better relate to and understand those around her, Nellie certainly wasn't about to pass up on an opportunity like that.
Stepping into the cafeteria, the Mist trainee looked around for a bit, trying to see if she could spot the other Mist whom she was supposed to meet.
Miliardo Kason Hope this's fine with you! ^^

Roland was already waiting in the cafeteria after the exchange on twitter, he wasn't in his usual jacket, his hair was untied and hanging loose around his head as he fiddled with his coffee making sure to get the right amount of cream, stir, add more, sip, some more sugar, stir, sip, nod in approval.
When he turned around he caught sight of a girl who matched the picture on Twitter, a hand raised into the air as he walked over. "Nellie? Hey, didn't think you'd be here so soon." He held up another empty cup in his spare hand, "Don't know how you like your coffee but I got you a cup."baby_gwing Omg yes it's great <333 edit: I also fail at quote tagging name spelling Q _Q

Nellie had a smile on her face as soon as Roland got her attention and crossed over to where she was. "Nellie could say the same to Roland as well. How long has Roland been here in the cafeteria already?" She had left her room shortly after the brief conversation they had over Twitter, hoping to reach the cafeteria earlier than him since she really didn't want to hold the other Mist up any longer than necessary. Yet he still managed to reach the cafeteria earlier than her so... so much for that.
Taking the empty cup from him, she helped herself to some coffee then started to reach for the milk and sugar. "Thank you. This is really kind and thoughtful of Roland."

"Oh no, I was already halfway here for a cup, figured I'd just invite you along. I've only been here ten maybe fifteen minutes?" He shrugged, "It doesn't really matter though." He waved his hand, "I'm not tied up in anything for another hour so I have time to spare."
Again he shrugged, "It's nothing, really, so you're still pretty new? I'm guessing since you haven't heard a lot about the division and whats happened inside it?"

"Ah... that will make sense then." Nellie nodded, her brows furrowed as she took a sip of her coffee then added some more sugar to it. She had only come across three other Mists so far - Noemi, Finley and Harlow. But she was never adverse to meeting up with or getting to know more of those who were in the same division as her. After all, there was no telling when she would be required to work together with them or hunters from other divisions on various missions in the future. Plus it was always better working with someone you knew rather than a complete stranger.
Stirring her coffee for a bit, she lifted her cup to her lips and smiled when she found it to her liking this time round. "Yeah. Nellie's been around for slightly over two months now. What about Roland if... Roland doesn't mind Nellie asking?"

Roland waited as Nellie worked on her coffee. Sipping his own quietly studying the girl as she spoke. She spoke, oddly to be honest, not rude or impolite but she seemed to refer to herself in the third person?
"Two month's is pretty short, you're lucky though. Almost a week after I woke up from the pods we had an invasion on the island, Horsemen and Halloween attacked us. It was a royal mess..." He focused on his cup for a moment but looked up again with a soft smile, "That was over two years ago though."
There was another pause, "So what kind of questions do you have about the division? I could just kinda... ramble into what we where talking about on Twitter if you want too."

"Oh..." Nellie immediately set her cup down on the table, her fingers curling around it now as she frowned at the mention of an invasion by both the Horsemen and Halloween. "Wouldn't that make Roland even luckier then, having survived something as serious as that?" She pointed out tentatively, lifting one of her hands slightly so that she could trace the edge of her cup idly with an index finger.
"That works for Nellie. The division lead, Lance, seemed like a pretty nice guy. Everyone from Mist whom Nellie has come across so far have been nice. Nellie can't quite see why people wouldn't like the Mist division..." She eventually confessed.

Roland paused, considering her words. Slowly he sipped his coffee. "You make a really good point actually," he raised his cup in turn nodding.
Taking a seat on the table beside her he looked over, "Lance is pretty cool, the problem was Aria before him," what smiles where on his face seemed to fade now. "She apparently was working with Halloween, betrayed us even some have said. We don't know all the details but she bailed on us leaving us without a leader till Lance stepped in."
Shifting about he continued sipping at his drink, "Most people don't like us because we used to be... like special op try hards? Some people thought we got special treatment and other weird stuff. Some people don't think we're as 'good' as another division. Which is kinda true. I'm not a great moon or a great sun but I can defend others and handle some medical work while just as easily hitting big baddies."
The smile returned, "We aren't bad people, we're just a bunch of odd balls."

Nellie smiled sheepishly at Roland's words, falling silent for a bit to consider how she ought to react before eventually deciding that thanking him was probably the appropriate thing to do. "T-Thank you..." Picking up her cup to sip slowly from it, she nodded at Roland's account of what had happened with Aria, the previous Mist division lead. "Did Roland think that Aria did that? What was Aria like?"
There had to be some reason as to why a division lead would choose to align herself with Halloween. She found herself wondering fleetingly but kept her thoughts to herself while Roland elaborated on why various individuals might not take kindly to those of their division. "Not odd balls. More like a Jack of all trades but a master of none. A versatile stand-in wherever an extra pair of hands or skill set is needed." She chipped in, her mood becoming somewhat sombre now as she set her cup down on the table after thinking hard on what he had said.
"Nellie's not sure if she's going to be able to fill such a role though."

Roland nodded raising his glass to the other hunter, "You're welcome Nellie." Working down a bit more of his coffee he debated her question, what did he think Aria did? Setting his coffee aside he rubbed his nose debating the situation some more. "I... I don't know honestly. I haven't really spoken to many people about it. She was strong though, very bold you know? Like you didn't fight back against what she thought she was serious about everything."
What reason did she have for it? He wasn't sure, he wanted to talk to Candace about it honestly, she had been around longer, she might have known more. When Nellie explained her opinions of the mist Roland only nodded, "Right. That's exactly what we've become and where intended to be. It's not a bad thing at all."
He paused, head tilted, "Why do you say that?"

"If Roland says so... Nellie thinks that Aria must have a good reason for doing what she did then."
Nellie didn't see any harm in sharing with Roland her thoughts on Aria based on what had been related to her by far. If it was an ignorant trainee in question, many in her place might just write it off as a case of the enemy successfully swaying one of their own to their side. But this was the previous Mist division lead whom they were talking about here. Someone whom Deus saw fit to lead an entire division that was meant to fill the role of any of the other four divisions should the situation call for it. Someone like that wouldn't just question what they were fighting for and defect without due cause - at least that was what Nellie thought.
"Agreed." Nodding a few times, she began to look somewhat awkward when Roland questioned her rationale behind her previous comment, lowering her gaze to the table and lightly tapping her fingers on its surface a few times before mumbling quietly.
"Nellie... thinks that she was assigned to Mist since she's not good in anything specifically at all."

"She might have, the thing is we won't ever really know because she's gone now. She blasted out a chunk of the head quarters and bailed out. She's on the run technically, but like hell if one of us saw her and tried to bring her in. She's out there doing whatever she intended to do and there isn't much we can do about it," he said with a sigh shrugging as he drank more coffee.
Finally he turned to her frowning slightly at her rather bleak outlook, "Hey now... don't get like that, none of us are good at anything when we first get here. Sure a Sun might know how to fight but not with a weapon. Moon's might have some medical knowledge or a desire to help others but they don't know how to defend in a fight. We're not perfect at all to begin with. You just get a chance to try out a lot more things till you find stuff that suites you."

"Oh." Nellie found herself wondering if anyone was injured or, worse, killed when the blast happened. Even if the previous Mist lead couldn't see herself working for Deus anymore for reasons that only she knew, it was another thing altogether to hurt and kill those whom she fought alongside previously. "Has anyone run into Aria since then?"
Stilling her fingers, she looked up from the table, taking in the frown that was on Roland's face. "It is the truth. Nellie has a cousin who's a Moon probably because, like Roland said, Lilac was a nurse before coming to Deus." She told him flatly then shrugged with a wry smile. "But Roland's right. It's just a lot to take in at times that Nellie isn't sure how she ought to go about it."
She hoped that she wasn't coming across as a whiner or someone who was trying to make up excuses for herself when she was actually telling the other hunter truthfully what she was going through. "Has Roland found something that suits him then?"

"I don't think anyone was hurt during the escape, and I don't know of anyone who's seen her since, she'd be hard to find if she didn't want to be seen. She was always kinda like that."
The frown lingered as she spoke flat and almost disappointed, "And all I was, was a kid who was blamed for everything wrong about his family while I could see the hints of the shadows that where behind it all. We aren't all drawn in for our skills, but because we have the power to see and do what others can't and fight." He tipped his cup up lowering it down smiling a bit, "We're all useful here in some way, we have weapons, we can fight. Even if we don't know how." Moving over he took a seat beside her finally.
"Well I seem to have a sensitivity to fear, back before Aria left I broke my promotion exam. I had to track down parts in a dark warehouse by sensing out fear markers tagged to them. We finished so fast Aria thought I had broken her timer. I haven't had much time to work in that field though, not a lot of use for it yet? Right now? I don't know."

Lifting the cup to her lips so that she could resume sipping from it for a bit, Nellie lowered it to the table as soon as Roland started to talk a little about himself. "Did Roland choose to come to Deus then? What about Roland's family?" There was no one left at home in her case when Deus came a knocking with their offer so it wasn't as if she had a choice compared to someone who still had a home and family.
Tucking that particular thought and its associated memories away, she smiled. "Nellie figures that everyone has to start from somewhere even if it's just a blank slate at the moment for someone like Nellie." Pausing, she clasped her hands together and began to look somewhat hopeful. "But Nellie hopes that she'll become good at something and be a Hunter whom everyone can depend on and enjoy working with some day."
Nodding a few times at Roland's words, she pondered over it for a bit before offering her own thoughts on the matter. "Nellie thinks that that could be pretty useful if people needed a fear tracker of sorts to help track things or even individuals down. Perhaps Roland could consider talking to some of the other Hunters or even Lance about it to see if that skill could be channeled into something useful?"
