There were many female dragons who got irritable, moody, grumpy or erratic when they grew proddy. Mirath was not one of them. She grew a little more restless, but mainly she grew more affectionate. Most people would probably not notice, though. She was a naturally social dragon after all, and always poking in to see how people were doing, especially any youngsters she could find. But Lia knew her lifemate’s habits and could tell the difference, so when the crimson began spending even more time than usual encouraging the weyrbrats (or would it be wherholdbrats?) to climb all over her, the young woman started looking for a courteous and gentle fellow to spend the upcoming Flight with. In the coming days it became clearer to the rest of Malvren as Mirath began to glow, giving interested male dragons from Benden time to come over to Malvren for a visit.

It was late afternooon, nearly sunset, when Mirath finally stopped flitting around the wherhold and headed for the feeding pens. She bugled long and loud as she swooped for the herdbeasts and pounced on one.

Lia hurriedly sent a borrowed firelizard with a message to her chosen stand-in, then locked herself in her room to focus on Mirath. She forcefully reminded the crimson to blood her kills only. If it helped the queens have better flights, maybe it would help her crimson clutch for once. Mirath posed little resistance. True, instinct urged her to eat ravenously, but there was still enough logic to her to know the wisdom of her bonded’s instructions. She wanted to have eggs of her own!

She drained the blood from that herdbeast, and then a second. For a moment she considered a third, but now her wings ached to fly. So she launched herself into the air, bugling once again. As she ascended, she called out to the males who chose to chase her. Come, my loves! Let’s show the Wherhold a Flight to be proud of!

__________

Let's get this show on the road! Roll your Speed Dice to find how fast your dragon gets into the air.

Numbers to Match: 13, 11, 18, 16, 13

This Flight will still be a dice game, but the system is going to be a bit different this time around! There are going to be stats involved: strength, speed, and toughness.

It is still a number-matching game, at the beginning of which Mirath will roll a 5d20 for the numbers the boys need to match, but each post of hers will specify which dice the boys need to use. Please pay careful attention to which stat is indicated and roll your dragon's appropriate number of dice. As usual, each male gets one rolling post for each action post Mirath makes (but if you accidentally roll the wrong dice, you may reroll with the correct dice as long as you do not delete the mistake).

For quick reference, everyone's dice are as follows:

Blues
Magith (moonlit-raven): 1d20 Strength, 7d20 Speed, 1d20 Toughness
Lophorinth (Dizzy_Kat): 2d20 Strength, 5d20 Speed, 2d20 Toughness
Jareth (Revel1984): 3d20 Strength, 4d20 Speed, 2d20 Toughness
Capuleth (TawnyAngel): 1d20 Strength, 6d20 Speed, 2d20 Toughness
Gmerth (DraconicFeline): 1d20 Strength, 5d20 Speed, 3d20 Toughness

Browns
Ivanhoth (Meepfur): 3d20 Strength, 4d20 Speed, 2d20 Toughness
Ititth (magnadearel): 3d20 Strength, 3d20 Speed, 3d20 Toughness
Ryth (Nilah44): 3d20 Strength, 4d20 Speed, 2d20 Toughness

I'll make a new post once a day, sometime in the evening. Once I post, everyone may roll again.

Blue Jareth (G'nar)
Speed - 4d20

Jareth had been watching the crimson, he rarely bothered to chase greens and NEVER attempted to chase a breeding Queen.... too full of themselves he felt, especially that uppity Banshideth, especially when she'd lashed out at the males the way she had, just typical of the golds, thinking they were oh so superior. Anyway to the matter in hand... or claw as dragons were concerned. Crimsons were a very very different matter to greens and golds, they could CHOOSE whether they would fight or keep the ability to rise and Mate, those he held in slightly more esteem than other female dragons, more-so the ones that chose to fight but those that decided otherwise were definitely of interest to Jareth.

He was among the first to rise into the air once Mirath had blooded her kills, this would be interesting... very interesting indeed, "You fly well Mirath" he commented, a rare thing indeed for him to compliment another dragon however he was smart enough to at least attempt to play to her temperment, he knew she was a very social dragon, perhaps she would clutch after this flight, well ... maybe he would be the sire of the hatchlings she may coo over.

Blue Magith

Mirath had much better timing than the gold had, chosing a much better hour to rise, and Magith was quick to join the males that would be flying for her. He suspected that there would be more blues chasing the crimson, as there were less social and size issues than the ones surrounding the gold, but was unsure of just which ones would.

It should be fun, and the blue rose into the air, eager to fly.

Blue Capuleth

As the sun began to set and the crimson began to rise Capuleth lifted his head and answered her call in a soft sweet voice.

thou art of greater glory than he above.
I would give both my strong wings on th'morrow
if on this night I might fly beside thee.>

T'bolt scowled and shoved his papers aside irritably. Of course he must, Capuleth never passed up a Flight if he could help it. Muttering under his breath the powerful man swept out of his weyr in search of a partner for the evening; if he wasn't going to get any work done he could at least have some fun.

[NPC] Brown Ititth
3d20 Speed

It had taken some convincing on Ititth's part when his rider, Z'ach informed him that there were signs a crimson was going to Rise in Malvren. In the end though he won. Several days before the flight they made frequent visits to the other wherhold.

When word came that it was time, the pair made the practiced hop over to Malvren. Ititth dropped off his rider and went to wait by the feeding pens. The crimson was glorious. He gave a soft croon but otherwise said nothing while she bled her kills. Then she leaped for the sky, and Ititth was destined to follow.

[NPC] Brown Ryth
Speed = 4d20

Ryth had not decided if he would fly the crimson when she rose until she rose. He wasn't much of a competitor but had decided why not? From his information, Mirath was a more sociable dragon so he hoped that it would not get as bloody as the Queen had made her flight.

Ryth jumped into the sky after several others, and unlike the others, he was content to let his actions speak for him.

Lophorinth:
2d20 Strength, 5d20 Speed, 2d20 Toughness

Lophorinth normally wouldn't have chased a dragon from Malvren (not his own choice! Only that he usually wasn't around!) but lucky lucky him he was in town. He gave Luka a few moments to decide her own route away from her weyr and flew off with her blessing as she looked for a partner of her own to share the event with.

Lophorinth trumpted as he arched up to join the line of males following Mirath's call. Who wouldn't be proud to see such a gorgeous lady gracing their skies? What a sight! I can't take my eyes off of you!

Brown Ivanhoth

Ivanhoth had missed the Queen's flight, rather by accident, and couldn't help but be a bit disappointed that he had. Flights were wonderful things! Somewhat less so than when they were violent, but his rider had been most amused by the stories they'd heard about the gold's, so it only followed that she probably would have liked it even better if they had been there. He'd been quite apologetic for a few days after, sorry for missing out on the spectacle as much as for missing a chance to be one of the rare browns chosen by a gold. But, again, it was msotly for his rider's sake. He was perfectly happy with greens and crimsons.

The brown's thick tail waggled with excitement when Mirath finally called, and he bugled exuberantly in answer as he gathered his poerful hindquarters and leapt into the air.

Mirath turned her head to take stock of who had taken to the air after her. A few browns and several blues, not a bad turnout. Lia (with what attention she could spare), was faintly annoyed that no bronzes had chosen to chase her dragon, but Mirath didn't mind. There was a respectable number of fit and handsome males in the air with her, and that was all she cared about. Now, to see how well they flew!

Two blues were leading the pack so far. She addressed the one in the lead first, the eager Magith. Your takeoff is remarkably swift! Let's see if you can keep up that pace, hmm? she told him cheerfully.

To choosy Jereth she responded, And so do you. It is a pleasure to share the skies with you this day.

Capuleth's elaborate speech was as unusual as it was fascinating. To him she said, I'm afraid I don't know how to speak as poetically as you, but rest assured, I appreciate your words.

Yet another suitor bespoke her, and Mirath called back to charming Lophorinth, I'm glad you think so. But do spare some attention to the skies! I would hate to see you make a silly mistake and lose track of things.

The others had done nothing to distinguish themselves yet, but the Flight was young. Now to see who would prove themselves. She crooned encouragingly at them all before rising to fly into a thick cloudbank. Then she turned until she reached just the right angle and, her eyes squinted into slits in anticipation, she burst into open sky, flying straight towards the setting sun.

Magith

I will try my best, the blue responded simply. She deserved that, that she be given the same, or perhaps even a bit more, effort that he had given the gold. He did not expect to catch her, either, not with the worthy males he was flying against, but that just meant that he would be trying even harder.

He was not expecting her to fly towards the sun, and he faltered briefly as the bright light struck his eyes. It was not enough to stop him, no, but his admiration of the crimson went up. She was a smart one, and he rather liked that in a dragon.

[NPC] Brown Ititth
3d20 toughness

He wanted to win this Flight. However, he wasn't very much good at flowery words. Instead he'd have to impress her with his flying. Ititth He didn't need much encouragement to follow her up into the clouds. It did startle him when he popped back out into open air. The sun flashed across his eyes as he squeaked. His wings fell out of patterned and he dropped close to 10 ft before regaining his equilibrium. What a sneaky crimson!

[NPC] Brown Ryth
2d20 Toughness

Although Ryth hadn't made himself well noticable yet, he decided to try and learn from others. Perhaps if he watched closely enough he'd figure out what not to do, where not to go and the like. He almost chuckled to himself as one started spewing poetry. Perhaps now, as they made their climb, it was time to speak. "Mirath. I wish I could spew words of your beauty, but I fear there are not the proper words." Hopefully that was eloquent in it's own way. As she flew right into the rising sun, Ryth cringed but did not falter. His eyes squinted. She was smart, this one, it would take all he had.

Lophorinth:
2d20 Strength, 5d20 Speed, 2d20 Toughness

Lophorinth followed her gamely into the bank of clouds, no hesitation for the lack of visibility. He chuckled and thrummed back at her. The skies aren't near as interesting as you are baby!

Alas Mirath called him right though as he burst into the cold air above the clouds he squaked and floundered in the intense light. And she has blinded me with her beauty! He lamented allowed to all with another mental chuckle.

Having made a bit of a slow star thanks to pausing to speak Capuleth powered on and up after the crimson. with wings, with strength, with speed I hear your voice.
In our flight the truth be->

And there the blue stopped speaking and let out a yelp of surprise as the sun near blinded on him. Shutting his first set of lids Capuleth flew onward but the flinch had cost him a few precious moments and he feared that others might have moved ahead of him.

he observed softly, including the other males in his words too.

Blue Jareth (G'nar)
Toughness - 2d20

"And more i should hope" Answered Jareth with a low rumble deep in his chest. Less pleasant thoughts were directed towards the other males, especially the browns, how dare they... the only time Blues ever got a chance to sire hatchlings and BROWNS were muscling in on the opportunity? ... Well ... let's just see how they'd fly with shredded wingsails if one came near him....wait what?! She was flying up towards the sun? Eyelids tight, leaving the smallest slits to see out of, he powered after her.
