It was moons since the separation of her family, even if their parents were simply just a fling. How her parents met? She did not know, but there was one thing that the wolf knew for sure - she did not know if she would see anyone in her family nowadays, for she lived in her father's pack. The pack. She would always wander around the territory, remembering her father's harsh rule of not crossing the boundary lines, for there was no certain idea of what lived outside of the territory. A rival pack, some soquili, nothing really threatening, right? She was naive, believing that all wolves were like her - kind and understanding, but instead, her father was the complete opposite.

Now that she was old enough to settle down and start a family of her own, she had a cautious eye of any male that she met. She did not want to fall for the wrong wolf, and possibly never see him again, after all. She did not want the same thing to happen to her pups like what happened to her. Even her father, the alpha, desired for her to settle down with someone who was willing to call the pack their home, but so far, there was no one who was up to her standards.

Walking around beside the border, she sat down, and stared at what was outside. A forest, woods, probably even the potential father of her pups. How would she know if he was the one though? There was already a large number of males she turned down, sometimes because her father challenged them, other times because they just did not have that great of a personality mesh. She blinked, seeing some figure lingering around the trees, but once she looked up once more, the figure was gone.

As if that was normal. She stood up, tail straight forward. If this was one of the wolves who tried to get at her, they would regret it. "You don't ever learn, do you." she growled, not able to yet tell who it was that she saw.

Damian

There was only one reason that Damian and Tenzin ever separated from each other. Damian needed to go hunting. It was not an occurrence that happened regularly, but when Damian couldn't restrain his natural carnivorous spirit, he had to separate from his herbivore companion. Nuts and berries were tolerable, but the taste of a squirrel, or a sparrow, or a mouse... That's something that wasn't easy to forget.

While other wolves may've been taught by their parents during some part of their lives, Damian had never gotten the opportunity. His hunting methods were purely instinctual and rather clumsy, but he always managed to catch something, in one form or another.

On this particular occasion, Damian had managed to find himself following a rather curious scent. It did not seem like a prey scent, but it did seem rather familiar. It wasn't Tenzin, either. He walked about, trying to locate the source of the scent, when he stopped in his tracks. Not a few paces ahead of him stood a lovely, grey she-wolf.

He approached slowly, not wanting to startle her, and upon further investigation, he noticed that she was the one he'd scented earlier. What he noticed secondly was even more curious. The markings she had on her pelt were very similar to his own! He felt a tugging sensation at the back of his mind, like a blurry memory trying to come into focus. Before he could place her face to a memory, the she-wolf looked up, and he stumbled back behind a tree.

Why am I being so skittish? Wondered the wolf, hearing her approach his hiding spot, he froze up, his entire body tense. Then she spoke. That voice... That face... Those markings... It couldn't be...

Stepping out from behind the tree, he faced the she-wolf, his head tilted slightly to one side. Then, hesitantly he spoke,
"Hane?" He shifted his paws, hoping he'd gotten her name right, "I'm not sure if you recall. I'm Damian, your brother." A hesitant smile and hopeful eyes, he wasn't sure if she remembered him."It's nice to see you again."

'Hane?' Her ears perked up, and she was confused of why this unfamiliar wolf knew her name. One of the males she met must have spread her name, that was it. That was, until the male introduced himself. Damian, her brother. Her brother? That could not be possible! He should have been dead by now after living alone for so long! He did look rather healthy though, so maybe he was part of another pack? What if their mother was an alpha too? Just the idea of having two alphas as parents gave her a bit of hope.

"It's been ages since we separated paths." she said, not really knowing how to greet him. To playfully jump on him and wrestle like their young puphood days, or to treat him as a potential threat to the pack? He was family, and still is, but she did not know about his whereabouts. In a way, they were now complete strangers, and that did not sink in correctly with her. No. She would want her pups to grow up with one another, instead of having an awkward encounter like this.

Since it was her duty to protect the land, she fixed herself to sit of the border, seeing if her brother would test her and try to cross. She did not know what to do. To tell Kovak that his son has returned? What if he wanted to become a pack member? She could not wait to introduce Damian to the rest of the wolves!

"I'm sorry. I just - wow. I just can't believe that you're actually here." Now that she could clearly see him, there was a spark of their mother that she saw in him, through the reds. Yes, the image of Brid was now starting to come back to her. "Have you seen the others?" she asked with a hint of desperation, wondering about their siblings.

Damian

Damian had remembered her name after all. Good. Names were always a good start. He watched her ears perk up, but her eyes seemed to narrow as she stared at him. Again, he found himself fidgeting slightly, but he didn't take his eyes of the she-wolf he knew as his sister.

At her remark, he let out a small sigh. It certainly had been a while. The memories he had of her were as fuzzy as those he had of his parents, and he struggled to remember his other siblings. There was another sister of his, he was sure of this, and he knew he had at least one other brother, but there could've been two. He hadn't seen any of his siblings since he desired to make a name for himself in some fashion, and leave the pack. Why had he decided to leave again?

To get away from my father's overbearing personality. Came the answer, and Damian realized the truth of it. A picture of his father snarling at him for some wrongdoing flashed into his mind, and he jumped when Hane addressed him again.

"What? Oh, no. That's alright. I was rather surprised to find you out here too. I didn't think... I didn't think I'd ever find my family again." He said starting to smile more brightly at her, but her question caused his smile to fall away into a frown. He looked at the ground briefly, shaking his head, "Unfortunately, the path I've traveled hasn't led me to any of my siblings. Except you, that is." Said Damian, looking back up at Hane and giving her that bright smile. "And I am so happy that it has. Hane, I've missed you so much, and there's so much we have to catch up on, and-" His stomach gave an audible growl, and Damian's fur bristled in embarrassment. "Oh... Whoops. Sorry about that. I had been hunting before we met." He explained sheepishly, hoping she didn't think him rude.

While her brother seemed to be lost in thought, she stared at him, trying to find more of their mother in him. There were still some features of her missing in him, and she did not blame him. He looked more like their father instead of their mother after all, so there was no way that she could blame him. In fact, he looked rather too similar to Kovak, and she wondered what other wolves might think to see both of the males together. She hoped that there would not be a battle of any sort, considering that males tended to fight over the smallest of purposes.

She frowned, hearing his response. So their siblings could still be dead for all they knew, but seeing Damian, she had the smallest faith that they were still alive. The five of them just had to reunite one day. All five of them in one place, but how, when, and where? It was not like the two knew where the rest of their littermates were. What if they were bonded with the soquili? She shuddered a bit at that thought - getting close to one of those large boned beasts that could kill you with one blow. No. That was why the pack had an usdia to watch over the herd at times, and he hardly showed himself.

"I've missed you too, Damian." she barked, wagging her tail playfully. He was okay, she guessed. Or at least he did not seem to show an interest to overthrow their father's alpha status yet. Hearing her brother's stomach, she giggled, got up and pushed her nose against her brother's shoulder. "The day's still young. Let's go for a hunt mister hungry." she teased, walking away from him a bit and sniffed the air.

"There's an abundance of rabbit around this time of the year. Shall we try to catch some?"

Damian

Damian watched his sister frown, and felt like shrinking back. He didn't mean to have upset her, but what he said had been the truth. He hadn't seen any of his kinsfolk, and he really thought that he never would again. How fortunate, however, that his travels with Tenzin had led him to his sister.

That's right... I've got Tenzin to get back to after I've hunted. He reminded himself, glancing up to Hane, from where his gaze had fallen to the ground. I wonder if she'd like to meet him.

When Hane spoke again, she spoke in a lighter tone, and he noticed her tail begin to wag. He sighed in relief, both at seeing that she was happier again, and that she mentioned food.

"That sounds great, but I should warn you, Hane, I'm not much of a hunter." He said, looking a bit ashamed of the fact, "I think I may've left before Brid or Kovak taught us how to hunt." At his mention of his parents, he thought of a more pressing question than the need to fill his empty stomach, "Wait, Hane. What about our parents? Have you heard anything from our mother or father?" He didn't speak what he was really worried about. Were their parents even still alive?

"Oh, I'm not so sure my hunting's my skill either." she giggled, taking his comment lightly. "I think that I am better at just running around and fighting. It was always my best talent - playfighting with our brothers and sisters, after all."

Hearing about her brother's departure again, she shook her head, not wanting to here anymore of the subject for now. She just wanted them to be like how they used to, instead of trying to catch up and act like the to siblings who just met one another, even if the situation was exactly that. It just just an uncomfortable feeling to her.

"Kovak is still here. We're actually on his lands right now. And Brid? Well, she left about a week after you did. Everyone else except for me and father left soon after." The she-wolf shrugged, and then pawed her front paw on the grass beneath her. "Kovak never speaks of Brid or any of his pups, but me now, and he won't accept the fact that she left. He just claims that he found me in an abandoned den one day, and then brought me back to his pack to have a new chance in life. And that's that, but I know he knows the truth about us."

She then smirked at her brother, bumping herself into him again. "First one to catch something is the better wolf!" She then bounded away, trying to find a rabbit.

Damian

"Running around and fighting, hm? Sounds like I may have the upper paw, after all." Replied Damian, before quieting to hear what Hane had to say in regards to their parents.

She seemed reluctant to talk about it, but he had to know what had happened to his parents, so he didn't brush the thought away.

Damian was surprised that he was so close to his father, being on his father's territory. How fortunate it was for him that he met Hane on Kovak's territory, and not Kovak himself, for he knew how aggressive the male could be about... well, everything really.

His eyes widened when Hane went on to telling him about the denial that Kovak was going through, unable to accept that Brid had left his company. He remembered his mother, and he remembered his father in her company. He remembered setting out to travel, and leaving what he assumed was a happy family behind him. Sure, Kovak was aggressive to many, but Brid was no pushover either. Still, they leveled with each other, and they'd had five pups. Surely, Kovak couldn't simply have claimed to have found Hane on her own? Wouldn't it make more sense for him to have mentioned finding all of his pups and bringing them back? No, Kovak wouldn't bring back that many, not even Damian's hypothetical version of him.

His head was trying to cling on any tangible thoughts as he dog-paddled through a stream of confusion, but then he was bumped (literally) out of his thoughts by Hane. She claimed that the first to catch something would be the better wolf, and Damian let out a confused laugh as he watched his sister bound away.

He ran after her for a bit, before veering into a different direction. He was certain that he would come across a rabbit sooner or later. It didn't matter so much if he was the first or last to catch the aforementioned rabbit, so long as he was able to fill his stomach.

xKOVAKtheWOLFx
Hey Wolf (if you don't mind me calling you that), do you happen to remember who Brid belonged to? And who Damian and Hane's siblings were given to?

It seemed to have taken a while for her brother to comprehend everything that she said, but she gave a smug look. At least he was interested in what was going on, right? That gave her a sense of belonging with him in a way, but still. He was a stranger to the pack, and if any wolf were to see her around him, things could get pretty bad, but the she-wolf had a feeling that no one would wander around this part of the territory for a while. Not when it was her shift to guard the borders.

Was it because she was the daughter of the alpha? Or was it just because she was one of the best ranked fighters? She did not know, but being around Damian sort of released that nervousness. Was he going to be willing to fight back, or would he just flee the scene if someone were to show?

Seeing that her brother was finally ready to go hunting, she caught the scent of a trail, and followed it, keeping a good enough distance from her brother. 'He claims to be not so good of a hunter, but maybe he's better than me, considering how long he's been on his own.' she thought, pushing her nose against the dirt, hotter on the trail.

Yes, a rabbit was near, and she could already tell that it was a rather plump one. If it were to run, she would be able to chase it down, but she knew that the rabbit would be running for its life, while the wolf would be chasing it simply just for a meal.

Damian

Hunting had always been instinct and guess work for Damian. Even with the stakes being higher, as he wanted to try to impress his sister, he was still uncertain with how it was going to turn out.

He had started by following his sister, sure it could've been considered cheating, but then he caught the scent of a rabbit and it pulled him away from Hane's tracks. He slowed his run to a steady jog, before coming to a halt in front of a clump of ferns. The scent of rabbit was coming from behind the ferns, and if Damian was lucky, and quick on his paws, he might not have to even give chase!

With a quivering nose, he leaned through the ferns, to get a view of the rabbit. Sure enough, there was the critter, chewing on a stalk of grass. Damian was shifting so that he could leap forward, but his muzzle brushed against the ferns, and the rabbit looked up, startled. The two animals looked at one another for a fraction of a second, and then the rabbit bolted, with Damian chasing after it.

The rabbit was jumping in confident, fast bounds, so Damian suspected it's hole was nearby. It was now or never. He jumped forward, his paws flailing out towards the rabbit, and he landed on top of the rabbit. The prey-creature was stunned for a moment, and then it was dead, as Damian's teeth sank into its fur.

He was so ravenous for meat, that he tore right into it, not bothering to think of how Hane had been with her own luck. It had felt like forever since he'd had blood on his fangs again. She could wait, but his hunger could not.

She ran, sprinting after the small creature. It would not get away from her! Once she was close enough to call a kill, the wolf snapped her muzzle forth, nipping the hind leg of the powerful rabbit. Watching as it reacted to the sting, the rabbit slowed its pace, and Hane grabbed the rabbit by the neck, furiously holding it down. It would not be able to see another day now that it was dead.

Content in her performance, and confident that she won the competition, she gave off a small howl, letting Damian know that she caught something. By the time her call was finished, the she-wolf saw that her brother was already feasting on his own catch. Assuming that she would have almost won, she walked over to her brother, dropping her prize at his feet.

"You must have really been serious when you said you were hungry." she said, staring with amazement of his eating speed.

Damian hadn't heard Hane approach, nor had he heard her earlier howl. It was only when she came up close to him and spoke that he jerked his head forward. His ears flattened and his eyes seemed to glow an odd red, before he realized that the wolf addressing him was not after his meal. Relaxing his stance from where he had stepped over the remains of the rabbit carcass, he gave a sheepish smile.

"Well, yeah. I don't really get to eat meat all that often, since I travel with an herbivore now." He replied, as though this was the most natural thing in the world. "Don't get me wrong, I love Tenzin, but there are some cravings that can't be surpressed, ya know?" He gave a wolfish shrug and looked at her to see her reaction.

Whatever her reaction had been, it had allowed Damian's memory to flitter back to the present, and it dawned on him that he hadn't told Hane about Tenzin yet, or how the two were bonded together. Oh dear... This might take some explaining, especially since Hane was a pack wolf. He sat down and gave a small sigh, nodding towards the rabbit that his sister had caught.

"I'm sure you'll have questions, but here me out first. I'll tell you all about the Soquili I'm the familiar to, and meanwhile you can start eating your own rabbit. I'm sure you're hungry after that hunt, after all." He paused slightly, and then he added, "And if you've still got questions afterwards, then I can answer them afterwards. Alright?" He asked her, wondering if she would be alright with letting him explain why he chose this life, before she asked any questions about it.

Hane backed up a bit, catching her brother's defensive gaze. What was that about? She shook her head in confusion, wanting to get rid of the odd scene just experienced. Something caused that though, and she found it better to not ask about it. She hardly knew her brother after all, and what if it was just something that he was born with? Awkward.

Tenzin? Travelling with an herbivore? "Oh! So you're accompanying a buffa-" she started, to hear that he was travelling with a soquili. Damian, her brother, being a familiar? Something was definitely wrong here.

As if to jump to avoid her questioning, she was suggested to start eating her meal, but the she-wolf could not. How could she eat if her appetite was now spoiled? "You should. . . leave soon. Father might smell your scent on me when I return back to the pack." she whispered, fearing for her brother's safety. What would happen?

"But do tell me more before you do."

Damian

Damian watched Hane closely, waiting for her reaction to his announcement, and when she suddenly told him that he should leave soon, he was flooded with emotion. They'd only just been reunited, and she was asking him to leave? His eyes were sad, but then she informed him that their father might smell Damian on Hane's coat, and he snorted.

"And you think he would chase me out, do you? How unfortunate, I had been hoping to say hello before I left." His father was malicious, but Damian was not the pup he was when he left home. He had knowledge that he could've never acquired if he'd stayed with his rough-tempered father, and he was no longer scared of the older wolf, as he had been as a pup. Perhaps that was foolish of him.

He was about to give a bitter comment, informing his sister of such, when she asked to hear about, well, everything. Letting out a sigh, he nodded, and then raised his eyes to meet hers. Where was the best place to start?

"Our parents were cruel to us as pups, Hane. It was only because we had the nativity of pups that we didn't realize it. It dawned on me when I had started to grow into my full size, so I left. I'm sure you remember." He was, in fact, sure that his sister remembered. He hadn't announced that he was leaving, and he hadn't given any reasoning to why he left either. One evening, while the others were asleep, he just... left. He wasn't sure whether there was any sort of uproar from his family, but he was certain that Hane would remember such a time. The two siblings had played together often, and that was not something one forgot easily. At least, he hoped that she remembered.

"After I left," He continued, "I didn't know what I was doing. I could only just defend myself, and the world outside our family territory was so much scarier than within our borders. I didn't know where to go, so I picked a direction and went with it. I walked alone for so long, Hane... It was so lonely on my own, and... It got to the point where I was about ready to lay down and never get up again."

Damian's eyes had become distant as he spoke, but now they brightened as he began to talk of the one who saved him.
"I thought he was going to crush me, underneath those giant hooves of his. It seemed as though he was as tall as a mountain, and I was ready to accept my fate. Instead... He asked if I was alright, and when I couldn't find the words to reply, he lay down beside me, and stayed with me. His flank was so warm, Hane, it was like he had a small sun inside of him, and I fell asleep at his side. When I woke, he was still there, watching me with kind eyes. I told him that I was travelling, and he goes:'What a coincidence, I'm traveling through here too. Why don't we travel together?' And you know what? I said yes. We've been by each other's sides ever since."

The young wolf now blinked his eyes, returning to the present, and to Hane. It was the happiest memory of his: When Tenzin found him. If only Hane would see that being a familiar to a Soquili wasn't a bad thing. How could he show her that truth... His eyes suddenly shined with an idea, and he looked intently at his sister.

"Hane," He asked his sister, "Would you like to meet Tenzin?"
