This all started when 11 year old Elsie woke up late in the day, almost missing her train ride to Hogwarts. Thing was, she did not even know she had been accepted into the school. After a few practical jokes and panicked moments caused by her guardian; Elsie was on her way to the train station. Thankfully they lived nearby. She has a broom and a trunk; which was later discovered to be empty. Not much is known about her strange guardian; he met her at the train station and teased how she had nothing to start her new year of school with. Elsie is pretty gullible to the lies and tricks her guardian seems to have the habit of doing, but for a girl of 1925 she is pretty spunky. After locking her out of his train car; and making faces at her in a childish fashion, he insisted she went off to make friends. He would ensure she would get her items eventually. She demanded she would receive an owl for his trickery; then stormed off.
:heads back towards where her trunk was left and spies a car with a girl who has long silver hair who was reading a book.: ._. :knocks: Mind if we share a car? :the girl looked up from the book and shrugged. Taking that as an ok, the trunk was dragged in the room and the seat across from her was taken.: Thanks -_-; sorry. >.> <.< want to help me play a prank on someone I know? >D
-the girl looked up, examined you but then turned to stare out the window-
Pff you are about as fun as a slug
-The girl turns her eyes back to you- At lesat I boarded the train with my wizard robes on. And slugs aren't so bad. -lefts her sleeve up to show crawing on her arm her giant pet slug-
:shrugs: I don't see the big deal we are not even there yet... :blinks as she watches the slug: O: that is a cool slug! The only ones I have seen were the banana slugs ._. does it have a name? er >.> do you have a name? ^^; sorry ._. :introduces self: O:
-she slips the sleeve of her robe back down to cover the slug- You're supposed to arrive at Hogwarts with everything on your list. And its name is Japopo. -she replies and glances about you- Wheres your animal? My name is Kyra. But people call me slug.
Kyra is a cool name O: It is nice to meet you And Papopo is a cool slug Yes I know I was supposed to have everything. There was.... a mishap of sorts.
Ja-popo. -she corrects as she turns her head back towards the window, resting her elbow on her knee and her cheek on her hand, but continuing to talk- Is that why you wanted to prank someone?
Sorry ^^; Yes :shakes fist in his direction: He thinks it is funny that this happened
Japopo accepts your apology. -she replies, then goes quiet for a minute as she stares out at the passing scenery, the chill london air from outside causing her breath to fog upon the window. She brings up her other hand and begins drawing random smiley faces upon the fog and wiping them off- What kinda prank did you have in mind? -she finally asks after the quiet became uncomfortable-
Thank you Japopo :nods towards she suspected the slug was. She cleared her throat and looked around the train car, and mentally hummed a song as she waited for a reply. And waited, and waited. She was unsure if she would ever get an answer when Kyra spoke: Well, I was thinking of hiding his things. See how he likes it having nothing.
Do you know where his things are? -She asked as she started drawing slug antennea onto the tops of her smiley faces
I have a guess. They are either in the luggage car, or in his room. >.> the little git sealed his room
I hardly doubt we'd be able to get into the luggage car. -she replied, finally turning her attention away from the window as a tap came from the window from an lady strolling a snack cart along the isles. Kyra turned in her seat and crawled forward and opened the door to the sound of the lady asking if they'd wish to purchase some snacks.- I'd like ten Jelly slugs. -she replied, fishing out some Galleons and handing them to the plump pleasant lady serving the snacks. Once she had her food she crawled back across the bench like seats to her spot next to the window, the lady at the door asking you if you'd like anything also-
darn... ah well. It was just a thought. Hmm? Um no thanks. I am ok. I had a big breakfast
-The lady nods, closes the door and heads to the next group of children- -Kyra unwraps a jelly slug and slips it up her sleeve, obviously feeding one to Japopo before unwrapping another and offering it- Are you sure you don't want one?
well... maybe I can have one... If you don't mind :stomach grumbles revealing the lie of breakfast: >/////////<
-Kyra glances at your stomach and hands you two as she chews on her own jelly slug, letting another silence envelope as she slowly eats her candy. After a while later she turns her face away from the window again- What house do you suppose you'll be in?
; . ; thank you! :nibbles on one of them as she mentally hums again: <3 Hmmm O.O oh goodness.. I really did not... D: I have no idea! I mean, each house has their own strengths. I suppose I will have to think about that. What house do you want to get in?
You're welcome. -shrugs- My father is Slytherin. My mother Hufflepuff. I suppose the sorting hat will know where to put me. -She pauses as the door opens again, a 7th year perfect glancing in to make sure everything was alright before closing the door off and continuing on, the sound of rain drops begin prattling above their heads as drops begin to form on the window- I have grand parents from Ravenclaw though. So I guess its up in the air.
:ignores the door as she stares outside at the rain. Rain was soothing and perfectly calming for a day like today: Ya I figured the hat will know where to put me. I have no real preference, though I admit the Slytherin colors are a personal favorite. The houses themselves all are wonderful. So you come from a long line, that is really cool. I know little about my family. Though I guess I could always ask. Figured I would be told if they wanted me to know.
-Kyra opens up another jelly slug and plops it in her mouth- If you're not pure blood, then you'll probably want to stay away from Slytherin. -She replied as she once more focused on the scenery through the window, the sleeve of her robe showing a slight lump as Japopo slowly crawls out from under it and onto her hand and getting a slow pet in return-
:still munching on the first jelly slug, she pauses.: I will keep that in mind. Thank you. :she watches Japopo crawl out from under the robe. Curious about the slug, she asked: How long have you had Japopo?
About three years I think.. My mother picked him up when she was vacationing in Transylvania. Apparently he's some sort of magic slug so his life span is longer than normal slugs. -she replied as she lowered her hand to the cushion, letting Japopo slowly inch off her hand to roam around in his slow crawl- He's a bit slimey but he's friendly.
I have never met a pet slug before. He comes from Transylvania eh? May I ask what his name means? biggrin :watches Japopo move slowly to the cushion.: He seems very friendly ^^
Its just the name I choose. -Kyra shrugs and pulls out some old newspaper and sets it on the seat so Japopo can walk on it and chew on it- Do you have a pet?
It is a fitting name. Was wondering if it had any special meaning. I did have a pet. But she is gone. ^^; was going to get something new, but. well...
Oh. I hope you get a new one. -Kyra leaves Japopo to his food as she goes quiet once more, letting the sounds of rain take over as she places her forehead against the chilled window and watches as darkness decends around them, idly bringing a hand up to brush silver strands of hair away from her face-

-gets up and stretches and unseals the magic on his door as he makes his way down the cars, peeking into windows till he spots you and opens the door- Heyo!
Thank you. smile :accidently hums a tiny bit as she finished the first slug as she was enjoying the quiet:
:hears you speak and she glances at the door as she starts nomming the second slug: >.> Don't you heyo me! D: you made a mess of everything ; . ; this is my first day and... D:
Of course its your first day. Your a first year. >.> -Kyra throws a bored glance to the door but then turns back to the window- And I didn't make a mess of anything.. But I see your making friends! That's great. Anyway, still a couple hours to go before the train gets there. Just wanted to make sure you hadn't freaked out and gone crazy yet
you made a mess of everything ; . ; I don't have a thing. I don't have my robes or anything. Though yes, I am making friends. ^-^ no thanks to you :glares at you: @.@ more time? ._. oi! I am not an emotional mess. I am just livid you did not help me get the things I needed.
-scratches his head and shrugs- I'll get your things after the great feast and everyone gets settled in.. >.> Anyway, I need to talk to the conductor. So, enjoy the rest of the ride! -closes the door and vanishes down the hall-
._. :sighs and goes back to munching on the second slug before mumbling to Kyra: sorry for that...
-the mumbles fall on deaf ears as Kyra appears to be asleep with her forehead against the window, her eyes closed and soft slow breathing continuing to fog up the window-
Hmm sleep sounds good @.@ I just wish I had my robes... :sighs and curls up on the seat and starts to fall asleep as well:

-after a while the train lurches and slows down, waking Kyra up with a quiet yawn as she pushes herself away from the window, using the sleeve of her robe to wipe the fog away to stare out at the school grounds coming into view. A weight on her arm told her that Japopo had slipped back up her robe and a glance around the compartment showed her that her company had fallen asleep also. She switched to the other side of the cabin and crawled over, poking you in your cheek to wake you up-
:wakes slowly and blinks: whuuu? Oh, hi Kyra :yawns and stretches, blinking multiple times, not fully awake:
I think we have arrived. -she crawled over you and pried the door open, poking her head out to see her suspicions confirmed as people were leaving their compartments, dragging turnks with them. Kyra slipped off the seat and reached up the the luggage, grabbing her trunk and hoisting it down to the floor-
:yawns again and curls up: uggg five more minutes...... ..... wait we are here! :hops up and looks out the window to see they were at a train station: O.O oh goodness O.O oh man D: :flails and picks up her broom and hefts her trunk, then notices it was a bit heavier than before: ._.
-Her eyes follow you as you flail about, the door open and people streaming by, lugging their trunks and other things along the hall, the horn of the train sounding and door opening to shouts of teachers telling students to line up by year- I think we should get going. -she points out, stepping aside to allow you to go first-
ya good point :does not open the trunk, instead she leaves the train car and looks around for the first year line: @.@ oh gosh D: I am nervous ; . ; :tries to spot you in the crowd:
-Kyra follows behind, but at a slower pace. Obviously the name slug was taken for more than her choice of pet as she walked with the atmosphere of not caring about time, her movements slow, lazy and lacking punctuality. After getting off the train, with some shoving of students behind her, she follows shouts of a teacher calling first years-
-Appears behind you from the crowd of students and hands you an umbrella- AH! You survived the train trip.
:realizes that the rain stopped hitting her as a shadow appeared, she looked up and behind a bit and spotted you: Yes I did ^^ I am so nervouscited @.@ omfg I just wish I had my school robes D: I am going to stand out so bad... ; . ; oh man :looks for Kyra again, her new friend and makes sure to leave room for her once she gets near:
-waits for Kyra to show up and then points off toward the lake- I'm sure nobody will notice you stand out like a white dove surrounded by black crows. -pats you on your head and then points to the lake- All first years are taken to the school by the boats. I've got to lead the 4th years off, so just make your way with all the other first years and I'll make sure you have all your school books and robe by morning. -he slips off into the rain and heads towards his perspective group- -kyra grabs the end of her trunk again and waits for you to head off toward the lake- I think we should get going.
:clings to the umbrella as she glances to where you pointed, though scoffed at the comment of sticking out.: @.@ ok :grips the umbrella so tight her knuckles get white.: D: wait!..... :but you slipped off: -sigh- :picks up her trunk again and glances at Kyra with a smile: Yes... have you ever been on a boat before? O:
-Kyra begins walking with you- A few times. You said you know little about your family. Who is that guy who seems irresponsible?
:does not mind walking at a slower pace to keep with Kyra: I have been on a boat once; but I do not remember much about it. -sighs deeply- He is verrry irresponsible... but he is the closest thing to a family that I have, though others have told me stories. He helps take care of me, while he can be annoying... he is family.
Do you know why he's here? -she askes as they reach the shore of the lake, several different lines had been formed as teachers and castle helpers load the first years into boats that seem to be magically enchanted float out from the fog, up to the shore and loaded with kids. Lanterns of magical flame float high above each boat and as the two of them get close a teacher uses magic to lift their trunks onto the boat, then helping them aboard along with several other students. Once loaded, the boats move by themselves, following a long line of other boats going forward-
:shakes her head as she ponders that question. There was no telling with that guy. Always up to something, always keeping secrets. a tiny frown appeared but she shrugged as she said,: For all I know he is a teacher and never bothered to tell me >.>; O: :peeks into the lake as she drops her trunk, and she watches the people ahead of them head onto the boats and drift into the fog. Her few memories of being on a boat were not good. But she was not going to show her panic to her new friend. So when it was her time she hid her whimper and she sat on the boat clinging to her umbrella, waiting for the boat to cross:

-the boats moved across the dark murky waters, creatures of magic unbeknownst to the students swimming below with the boats, each old rickety wooden boat rocking slowly against the light ripples of the water. As they left the main land, fog moved in and surrounded them, the light above being muted by the heavy thick air. Kyra seemed absolutely unnerved by all of it as she peered off into nothing- My mother did mention they had some changes of staff this year. So maybe that is so. -the air around them was quit, as students ahead and behind talked in muted whispers. Every few minutes, movement could be seen through the fog, just outside view of normal eyes. Japopo peeked his head from beneath robe to taste the air before retreating. The others on the raft were quiet, but kept throwing glances at you, obviously attracting attention with the lack of a wizards robe and dressed in muggle clothes-
:slowly inhaled and exhaled as she listened to the waves; felt the boat gently move. She smelt many things in the air as they moved, faintly she smelt food but she was unsure if it was her imagination or not. She tried to not notice people glancing at her, so she focused on Kyra.: Oh? I wonder. That would be... omfg that would be a nightmare. :hides her face with her hands a moment then she sighed as she forced herself to sit tall. I can do this.: Well we shall see once I spot him again. I should have stolen his robe... :she grumbled.:
I'm pretty sure a First year would have difficulty stealing the robe of an wizard who can use magic outside school. But maybe you can get him back once we get into school... just remember that he can probably emberass you more than you can him. -Kyra's words didn't sound very comforting even to her own ears as she spoke, the boats emerging from the fog as they entered a cave, cold wet walls surrounded them as the boat made its way down a tunnel to several rotted looking docks. The boats moved themselves to the docks where the teachers of earlier were already present, helping kids off and pointing them to an open door that led to a well lit and warm inviting room. "Off the boat and follow the rest of the first years!" shrieked an old croone who was standing off the side. Their boat stopped and man magically lifted all the trunks onto the dock and Kyra stepped off the boat, grabbing her turnk as she waited for you to also depart- If he is a teacher, you'll have someone to help you with your spells and homework. I think.
:sighs and hangs her head knowing there was truth in those words: true true... and I am not sure what else he can do to make this worse... butt.. I am not sure I want to risk it. :sighs again as she realized she was starting to relax while being on a boat. Woo hoo! She thought excited then the boats entered a cave. ._. D: :clutching the umbrella again she looked around. Forgetting her assuming empty trunk she got off the boat and she glanced at Kyra: Heh His form of help is letting me learn on my own. @.@ but maybe. No harm in asking. :she glanced at the other first years and she closed her umbrella.:
-There was still some rain on Kyra's robes so she shook her robe and hair out- Nothing wrong with being independant. -she replied, with a hint of longing in her voice suggesting overbearing parents as she began walking with the crowd, being forced to move slightly quicker as students behind grumbled. They entered a wide carpeted and warm room with floating candles, the heat a welcome friend to shake the chill of the fog. A teacher at the head of the group was moving the kids towards set of stairs that wound up and as kids moved towards and up, you could hear their trunks clunking against each stone step on their way up. Kyra lowered her voice as she spoke again- Are you okay? You looked a bit shaky on the boat ride. -she inquired, having not wanting to say anything while they were still over the water-
True, independence is great for growth. I just wish... never mind. :she stopped as she forced a smile. Wondering about the parents she forgotten. She tried to hide behind others as she followed the students into the wide carpeted room. It felt welcoming and calming. She realized her nervousness was gone. She followed up the stairs and just then realized she left behind her empty trunk. Ah well. Too late now. She thought with a sigh. Blushing she glanced at Kyra as she lowered her voice as well; she admitted: I am better now, but... well I do not have any good memories with being on a boat. I almost drowned before.
Oh. I've always liked water. But I guess I can understand. At least were inside now. -The woman leading the pack of kids was shushing and calling for quiet as she led the kids up the the stairs which ended into the main entranch of Hogwarts. The first years sitll whispered, pointing at various statues, suits of armors and other things in the halls as the group moved towards a large arched wooden door that opened before the group as they neared it. Inside, was a large room lined with tables, and sat at the tables the other students already sat, talking amongst themselves and leaning out from their seats at the benches to glance at the new first years, wondering what house they'd be sorted into. In the air floated hundreds of blue flamed candles, illuminating the room dimly as Kyra entered the room. Upon glancing up, the dark sly magically shown above showed dark clouds and rain, the drops of water stopping short ten feet above the heads of students and vanishing. The first years were led to the front of the room, where on a stool sat an old worn and beaten hat and lined out in front of them were tables for the teachers, dressed in various robes and garb. One seat was left oddly empty and the eyes of the teachers and staff looked over the children. One of the female teachers sitting with the others was garbed in pink and light blues, long messy silvery hair flowed across the front of backs of her overly fluffy robes and she appeared to be waving eagerly in the direction of Kyra, a wide smile on her pink lips. Kyra pointedly glanced at her face, and showed some emberassement instead of indifference for once- The lady who had led this here took a seat and an old man of a teacher got up to stand next to the sorting hat. The rest of the students went quiet as the headmaster rose to give his welcome speech and warning speech about the forbidden forest. Once he was finished, names were being called from the list of first years to be sorted-
I want to like the water. Maybe being here will help. :she said as she smiled then she grew quiet as the teacher called for silence. Looking around, her eyes grew wide at all the fun things to look at. She had the feeling she could explore this whole castle and still not see everything. She had to really refrain from bouncing with excitement. When they entered the large room with the other students, she tried to once again hide behind the others; embarrassed by her missing school robe. Each step she took her nervousness grew. She remembered mention of the enchanted ceiling though so she glanced up and she was filled with wonder. Amazing! She thought, and almost collided with another first year. >.> eyes on the road... eyes on the road... she reminded herself and she glanced ahead at the teachers. Wondering which classes they all taught. One teacher in particular was waving over at them and she raised an eyebrow to try to find the student, when she saw Kura show a twinge of embarrassment. Making a note of it, she would ask later. If she got to chance to see her new friend. Now that she thought of it, she may be in completely different classes and such. D: aww... She thought then the room grew silent. The headmaster gave a grand speech and a serous warning of not entering the forbidden forest. Her curiosity grew, but she hid that from her face. She refrained from flailing as the names started to be called. oh dear....
-Kyra continued to examine nothing interesting on her shoes as students moved from their spot to the seat. The sorting hat screamed Slytherin, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, and Gryffindor, sometimes instantly putting kids in houses, other times taking seconds or one time minutes to make its choice. Kyra continued to wait for her name to be called, wondering what house she'd be placed into and wondering where the girl next to her would end up also until the girls name was called. Kyra prodded her in the shoulder and pointed to the stool as all eyes fell on the girl without the wizard robes, bringing fourth some snickers and hushed comments from the SLytherin table-
:blinking she glanced at Kyra and she nodded, gently pushing her way to the front and she quietly sat at the seat; trying her best to ignore the attention to her lack of robes. She sat at the seat and she waited for the hat to be placed on her head. She inwardly calmed her thoughts, while she was having an inner hysteric attack from all the attention. A million thoughts raced through her head. Wondering where she will be placed. Was she even worthy of being here? What if this was all some big mistake. What if she had no real talent. What if she was a big failure. No no no. Stop it. She thought to herself and she once again cleared her mind and sat tall awaiting for the answer of what house she belonged in.:

-a voice fills your head as the sorting hat speaks to your mind, humming and grumbling as it senses you out, the overly large hat slipping down past your eyes- Such a nervous child this one but very interesting.. very different and very confused. You seem to have strong magical blood in you. Many choices, many different paths possible ahead of you. What do you think child? -the hat asked, mentally-
:She actually appreciated the hat blocking out her vision from all the others there. She was able to clearly think as she listened. She was not surprised by the talking hat, though she was a bit inquisitive of how this hat was enchanted. Different? How different? She wondered and she was surprised by the strong magic comment. She thought of the houses and what she knew of them. They all embraced different qualities in a person. She was unsure she could be around people who liked picking on others just for being different; so Slytherin would be a bad match. She was unsure why but she always admired Gryffindor, many amazing wizards came from that house. Hufflepuff was more for those who were rule followers and about fairness. So her love of practical jokes would probably get her into trouble. Ravenclaw would be a good match, though she had a habit of breaking rules if she thought she could get away with it. She blushed at that and muttered softly,: I think Whatever house I get put in, I will come to understand why during my time there.
-the hat hrmmmm and hummed some more as it read your mind. The rest of the hall had gone quiet as it waited for a reply- -The sorting hat took a moment more before its large mouth opened and it shouted "RAVENCLAW" throughout the hall. Cheers went up and students minus the Slytherin began clapping as the hat was pulled off your head. The old man patted you on the back and pushed you toward the table that sat all the Ravenclaw. Kyra clapped along side the rest, glad to not hear the name Slytherin. Despite her father being a Slytherin, she knew the reputation the house carried and the way the cajoled and and snickered at her lack of a wizard robe. The hall died down again as she hard her own name called and with another glance up to the teachers table she made her way to the stool and sat down, the sorting hat going down over her head. Having already heard much about the process, and that the hat mentally talks to people she didn't wonder much how its voice reached her head as it muttered. "Oh oh yes. Professor Hallow's daugher I see. Your mother was quite the fine Hufflepuff yes! Ah.. but no, you wouldn't fit in there. Nor do I much think you take after your father much. Oh yes, oh yes. I know right where to put you." The hat spoke to her before opeing its mouth again and screaming RAVENCLAW to more clapping and hooting and hollering. The hat was lifted up and she made her way over to the Ravenclaw table, fellow ravenclaw students patting her on her back as she sat next to her fellow first year who was called just before her.-
:relief flooded her as the house Ravenclaw was decided and she hopped off the chair once the hat was removed. She took a seat with the other Ravenclaws and she was pleased to see welcoming faces. When her new friend was called up, she waited hoping she would get the chance to see Kyra again. When Ravenclaw was said; she jumped up in a happy dance before she forced herself to calm down and she inwardly squeed as she clapped. She grinned as Kyra sat: We made it to the same house! That is awesome! I am so happy :and she forced herself to not hug her new friend, knowing Japopo was still in Kyra's sleeve: And I am glad to see Japopo made it too. :she giggled:
-Kyra smiled at her friends happy dance, the teachers voice calling up the next kid- At least I know one person in Ravenclaw already. I don't think my mother will be too pleased... -she remarked with another glance up to the teachers table. The enthusiastic professor was still clapping, but wasn't smiling as brightly as she once was as her daughter was placed in a house different from the own of her youth.- I think Japopo would have been happier in Hufflepuff. Softer carpets. -she joked but went quiet as the last of the kids were called up and sorted. After the clapping and cheers had died away the headmaster called for silence once more and rose to give his opening speech, introducing all the teachers and welcoming the students to their new houses, making mention that there was a new Care of Magical Creatuers teacher but that he couldn't attend the ceremony due to other matters. There was also a new Charms teacher but as the headmaster said, every student would have plenty of time to become aquianted with their teachers throughout the school year. The headmaster waved his hands as banners exploded and meals magically appeared on the tables. Food of every kind appeared and smells of the finest cooking filled the room to much applause and hungry tummies. The headmaster wished everyone a good year and sat down to let the students eat. Kyra wasted no time as she began to fill a plate with mashed taters, gravy, Ham, rolls, steamed vegestables and other goods onto a plate.-
I am pleased I know someone already here too. smile Ahh so she is your mother? :she too glanced at the teachers and she was able to notice the relation.: haha XD Japopo will like Ravenclaw I think. We can maybe make him a little house with soft carpet though. :she too became quiet as she listened to the other names being announced and watched them get sorted. Eventually more silence came and the headmaster gave another speech. She noted all the professor's names and the missing professor(s?) as well. She was excited to learn what classes she would have and her new schedule. The thoughts of school vanished form her mind as the food appeared. Famished for a meal other than sugar, she filled her plate with a little bit of everything and added a tiny meat tart off to the side. She nibbled and munched on every bit of food, trying to remain polite as she ate she kept a napkin close. This was the best tasting food ever. She ate quickly until the hunger pains were gone and she was finally able to calm down and focus on the other faces at the table.:
Yeah.. She'll be disappointed I was sorted into Ravenclaw. She and my father both. I'm sure Japopo will make his home beneath my bed. That's always where he liked to be at home. -With a plate piled with food Kyra began to attack her food... slowly. She cut slow, she chewed slow and all the while her hands would slip smalls craps of stuff into her robes where she had sewn a hidden pocket into her robes so she could carry table scraps upstairs. She took the time while chewing to look over the fellow first years that would join them, and to also note familiar faces from both students and teachers she had met from either being out with her mother, or attending guests at their home. She dreaded peaking at her class schedule, and just hoped she'd be able to maintain grades high enough to keep her mother cheerful.- Do you know when your stuff will arrive? -she asked after swallowing a small bit of food and laying her fork down, dabbing at her lips with a table napkin-
She should be proud of you no matter what. I just met you and I am proud of you. :she then bunched up her fist ready to defend her new friend.: If they give you a hard time, I will tell them how awesome you are. :she then went back to eating, careful to not make a mess, she still moved at a faster pace than Kyra. She was curious to know more about the people at her table. She was determined to make more friends, making sure they were just as awesome as Kyra. She paused from her eating when the remark about her belongings was mentioned. She cleared her throat after she swallowed what she had in her mouth; then she paused remembering what he had said.: Well he mentioned I will have it in the morning. @.@ I honestly do not know when and I am nervous about that. I don't even know where he is. :she added as she looked around:
I'm sure I won't disappoint her much. -she remarked with a slight giggle, putting her hand on your fighting fist and shaking her head- I'm glad your so optimistic, but you'll need to fight with your wand and not fist. Your a wizard now.. remember? -Kyra's attention was grabbed by a boy sitting on the other side of her and she introduced herself before turning back around.- Its a big school and I"m sure everyone is busy at the beginning. I'm sure he'll show up sooner or later. And.. if not then you can always go to the other teachers and see about getting supplies. -Kyra spooned some more food into ther cheeks and began eating again, the sounds of knives forks and spoons clanking of dishes filed the air but as the ceremony dragged on, second years and higher began getting up and leaving. Finally one of the Perfects from Ravenclaw stood and addressed the table, mentioning that it was time to take the new first years up to the commons room, show them the way and get everyone settled in. Kyra's plate with plenty of food on it vanished and she noted that the other first years were being led out also. She smoothed out her robe as she stood up.- Looks like its time to go.
razz arents are supposed to be supportive of their kids. She thought but she kept that to herself while she nodded and grinned.: Oh ya. Going to have to learn how to use my wand. :When her mind panicked about not having a wand she sighed as she went back to her food. Once again she finished a mouthful before replying: It is a HUGE school. I have the feeling one can spend a lifetime here learning about this place. I just hope I can spot him sooner rather than later. Just to set my mind at ease. But you are right. I can speak to one of the teachers. smile :She smiled at anyone who tried to talk to her, but she was starting to get tired so she was not as enthusiastic to make new friends just now. Introducing herself she memorized their names and even struck up a small chatter about potions with the lad across the table. By the time she was mostly full and her plate was almost picked clean, others were leaving. So she grabbed a cupcake for later that night, paused then took a second cupcake, in case her friend would want one later that night then she smiled as she looked around once more. The food all vanished from the table, she heard the Perfect tell the first year Ravenclaws to gather near; so she stood and followed; making sure her friend was close.:

Its probably bigger than anyone realizes. Even my mother says that this school holds secrets that have long been forgotten. Then there are all the areas surrounding the school. -Kyra had risen with the rest of the students as the Perfect led them from the great hall. All that food had made Kyra sleepy, and she found her feet dragging even more than usual as she walked with the rest of the first years back into the hall they had entered from. The Perfect led them up a large wide flight of stairs, above them many more stairs shifted and switched around creating an maze like dizzying sight above them. The perfect told them to take note of the route as he manuevered his way through the large school till they came at last to a large stone Raven statue. After all the kids caught up he told them the password to the door was Wormwoodboogers and not to speak it to anyone of the other houses. Once saying the password the stone statue came to life, shook out its stone like feathers and stepped aside, ushering the children inside. The Ravenclaw commons room was large, circular and comfortable with a large blue rug that wove along the outside of the room, stars and planets dipicted within. The walls were surrounded with different bookshelves and statues of ravens, paintings that moved and arched windows that gave splendid views of the school outside. Couches, chairs and several fire places filled the room, creating a warm proud atmosphere. Two sets of stairs led to the sleeping chambers, one for the boys and the other for the girls and other doors led to bathrooms and various other rooms. -
The perfect didn't waste any time in leading them to the stairs, seperating the boys from the girls and telling them to go upstairs and go to sleep. They had a day to get aquinted with the shcool before classes started so there would be much time for exploring or socializng tomorrow, for now he wanted them to all sleep. Kyra sleepily glanced upstairs and climbed slowly. The stairs led to a hall that had several doors, one for each year, having each year sleep seperate from each other. Kyra was led to the empty first years sleeping quater and entered. The room was large and lavish, lined with beds and at each bed stood a large empty chest. The student trunks had already been brought up so Kyra made her way to hers and plopped face first onto the bed. Japopo promply slid out from her sleeve and onto the bed, glancing around- So comfy... -she muttered into the mattress-
Secrets are fun to explore. :she murmured. Soon she was walking with the rest of the Ravenclaw first years and she noticed most of them were tired from the long day. Eyes wide she looked at the moving stairs and she grinned realizing this place was going to be a blast to live at. She tried to memorize the route the Prefect took but she was pretty sure she would get lost a few times in the first week. Oh dear. She thought until she noticed everyone was crowding a statue and she giggled at the password. That would be easy enough to remember. She followed the group and looked around the commons room. It looked like the prefect place to study, lots of rooms and looks od books. She saw the stares and inwardly groaned. She was getting tired from walking all the stairs. But she followed everyone. She followed the girls and went into the first year room glad to see her trunk had been brought up after all. She set the cupcakes by the bed and she lay on the bed. She would rest a little but all this excitement would not keep her asleep long. She sat up and saw that Kyra's bed was not that far from hers. She was pleased to have a friend so soon. But she made a mental note to not harass her new friend and scare her off with her inner hyper. So she took the cupcake and walked over, placing it on the nightstand as she said: In case either of you want a midnight snack. :she then headed back to her bed and lay back on the fluffy bedding as she rolled around lightly removing her shoes before she made a blanket nest.:
-Kyra sad up after a few moments and crawled to the end of her bed to open up her trunk. On the large wooden chest laid a copy of the Daily Prophet. She moved it to the bed and opened the trunk but after deciding to be lazy decided not to move anything over and let everything sit in untidy fashion the way dhe had packed it. Other kids were moving around and stripping themselves of their robes so Kyra did the same as she slipped out of her robe and began undressing, removing a silver colored night gown from the trunk and slipping into it. Her slug had already slowly crawled to the end of the bed, onto the chest, down its side and under the bed and Kyra got on her knees and glanced below to make sure he felt at home before she crawled back onto the bed, picking up the nespaper and glancing over it. Kyra looked the cupcake over and nodded, convinced it'd be slug food later.- I.. think I ate enough. I feel full enough I might explode but thanks. Do you have any clothes to sleep in?
:She nodded as she glanced at her own cupcake. She would be hungry later. She always was. Midnight snacks were the best. She leaned over her bed and for humor sake she opened her trunk seeing the emptiness. She did remember that it had felt heavier than before but it must have been fatigue. Sheepishly she grinned saying,: I can sleep in what I have I guess. He might not even think of pajamas, so I will adapt. I actually think I want to take a shower. Did you notice which door was pointed out as the bathroom?
Mmkay. I think the shower room was at the end of the hallway. Our door had a "1" on it so just check all teh doors without numbers on em. -Kyra pulled back the sheets of her bed and wiggled beneath as she pulled the news paper up to her and began to fold it open to browse stories and stare at the pictures that moved around the page- Or you can pop into the seventh year room and just ask. I'm sure someone would know.
thanks! :heads off with the information in the back of her head as she looks for the bathroom. She walked down the hallway and saw no number on the door, with a light knock she entered peeking in:
-Kyra found her drowsiness coming on her quickly as she wiggled into bed and put the morning copy of the paper on the nightstand. It didn't take sleep very long to consume her. It never did. Furhter down the hall was a shower room, a long pleasantly colored room with tiled floor and large stalls with shower heads and a bench for setting things on. The room was round, and the stalls lined the outer wall. The center of the room had a large bathtub for anyone who wished to bath in a not quite as private area. Two pillars sat on opposite sides of the room with stools, mirrors and sinks to wash up in. The room next door was similar, but with toilets instead of showering stalls-
:she was grateful the room was the bathroom, she slipped in and stripped once she was near the showers. She turned on the water then closed the curtain at the stall. She was glad to take a breather and stay under the running water for a moment. She was trying to not think of the items she was without, and instead she thought of the fun she would have. Once she washed away the grime of the day she found a towel and dried off. She balled up her undergarments and dressed again, sneaking back into the room with the number 1 on the door. She found most of the younger classmates were asleep and the lights were dim. She sat on her bed and dumped her ball of undergarments in the empty trunk, then closing it once again before she picked up the cupcake and nibbled at it. She left it half eaten on the nightstand as she got drowsy and she lay on top of her blankets, drifting off to sleep:

Kyra woke and pushed herself up into a sitting position, the soft quilts of her bed sliding down around her waist as she lethargically brushes silver strands of hair from her face. Icy blue eyes blinking away drowsiness as she looked about the dim moonlit room. The clouds of yesterday had fallen away, inviting the moon to illuminate much of Hogwarts is pale silver dimness. Kyra assumed it was still sometime in the night, but felt sleepiness quickly receding as she slid out from under her sheets and crawled to the end of the bed, and as quietly as she could digging through her trunk till she produced a pair of slippers. Dropping them on the floor she slipped them on and took another look about the room. Everyone else appeared to be asleep now. A couple times early in the night Kyra had woken to the sniffling of first years whom had grown homesick, and without saying or doing anything she willed herself back to sleep. Now everything was calm, quiet and everyone else seemed to be shrouded in blissful dreams. Kyra smoothed her gown out as she walked the length of the room to the door that led into the dormitory hall and ever so quietly she pulled it open, pausing only a second to consider bringing Japopo out from beneath his slumbering place but deciding against it. Kyra slipped from the room and glanced down both lengths of the hall to check for others, and upon finding none she slowly crept to the stairs that led to the commons. Soft slippered feet made almost no sound as she descended stairs, poking her head around a corner and into the commons room to find it too, empty. A warm and inviting fire still glowed in a couple of the fire places built into the walls and she started moving around the room, slipping a random book from a bookshelf on her way. Kyra, in her lackadaisical strut, went from couch to chair to table and back again, moving to each comfortable looking sitting place in the room and sitting down on each, wiggling about for a minute before standing up and moving onto the next, trying to judge the maximum comfortiscisity of each seat so she could find the perfect spot to attempt to claim as her own for the remainder of her stay at Hogwarts. No doubt some of the older Ravenclaw students had their favorite spots to sit, but it wouldn't stop Kyra from at least trying to weasel her way into another persons preferred sitting. Even some of the rugs looked like good spots as she'd randomly plop down on the floor near a hearth. Kyra settled on a large armchair on the outside rim of the room, far enough from a fire to be a desirable spot, but close enough to still receive its warmth. The large blue chair was more than big enough for her and she had no need of the footrest while she made herself comfortable and pried open the largeish tome. It was a book on the History of Magic which would make for boring reading, but maybe help her get sleepy again.

Tossing and turning in her new bed; wearing her clothes from the day before, Elsie dreamt an assortment of weird things. First was of her being on a tiny boat and the other people with her, started dancing. Music played and they all had fun while she felt alone and unwelcomed; terrified of being out in the open water. She was hugging herself and she heard laughter. Blushing deeply she tried to hide from all the laughter, she then realized she was not wearing any clothes. Sinking into the boat, she found herself in the water and she was gasping for air calling out for her parents. Next thing she knew she was in a classroom and everyone was whispering and pointing at her. She was now wearing a burlap sack. She was sitting in class trying to focus on the lesson; then she was called on to make an apple change into a hat. She saw her wand was made out of paper. The entire night was filled with dreaded nightmares; horrors of not fitting in and looking even more out of place; or of being lost.
Hours passed; Elsie suddenly rolled off her bed, wrapped in her blanket. She woke groggily and looked around. It was still dark but she saw the room was a bit lighter than it should be if it were at a late hour. If she had to guess, she suspected it was at least three hours until dawn, maybe even more. She glanced at the other first years who were sleeping; some beds though were empty. As she thought of the people she had seen last night, she wondered what they were like. Would they like her? From what she knew about Ravenclaw; they were all hard working and very smart. She hugged her legs, while still on the floor and wrapped the blanket around her. What if she was not good enough? She sighed and pushed aside that thought. She had to stop being so nervous. She was there to learn how to control her magic, and learn what she could do. Who she was meant to be. There was no mistake. She was there for a reason. Taking a breath, she stood and padded barefoot over to the window while dragging her blanket behind her. Peeking through the windows she gasped softly seeing a spectacular view of tiny bursts of light trying to rise over the mountains; showing an assortment of colors. Elsie caught herself staring at the view for quite some time; the bitter nightmares that had given her much doubt, now drifting away and she was just enjoying the fact she made it into one of the best schools in the world; and she already made a new friend. Things were alright. She hopped onto her bed and saw her cupcake was gone. AWwwwww. She thought with a pout. Though it was good the crumbs were cleaned, and no trace of the sugary treat was left. She judged by the peek out the window that there was a good deal of time before the sun fully rose above the mountains. Just enough light to not bump into things, but enough to check things out and explore a little. She then crawled over to the edge of her bed and she opens her trunk to see if things magically appeared during the night.

During the middle of the night, Professor Nicolais had sent an house elf up to the Ravenclaw's common room to place required school items into Elsie's trunk. The soft pop of the elf appearing and disappearing throughout the night to drag things to and from went unnoticed, even by the girl who sat alone in the commons room, sprawled lazily on a large sofa with a weighty copy of History of Magic in her hands did not take notice. Several trips it did take for the house elf to get everything, but finished he did and with another pop the house elf was gone again and back to his regular chores that needed attending, grumbling about the break his his usual routine. Teachers always asked for too much he thought, but never voiced.
Books had been brought up. First year copies of Astronomy, Herbology, History of Magic, Potions, transfiguration, Charms and Defence Against the Dark Arts text books lay at the bottom of the trunk, each book with a different name and author attached. Each book wrapped in brown paper and tied with equal color twine. Laid out on top of the books were several school outfits in the Hogwarts colors with the Ravenclaw embroidered onto several sets of long dark flowing wizard robes. Outfits for both warm and cold seasons were folded. Several white buttoned up shirts, ties, sweaters, vests, skirts, black panty hose and two pairs of shiny black shoes. Other items included a plain pointed hat, one pair of dragon hide gloves and a long blue and black scarf that had a unnatural warmth to it. Hopefully all of which were fitted correctly.. Above the clothes sat other required items for her classses. Potion bottles, a small cauldron and other various glassware for potions, everything that wouldn't be supplied during class. Quails and ink bottles a plenty and wrapped in a tightly sealed box sat a wand made of Blackthorn with a core made up of Veela Hair. The wand was on the shorter spectrum of 10" and had a whippy feel to using it. A telescope at wrapped next to those objects, for Astronomy and dropped on top of it all was a set of brass scales for measuring. Sitting on top of everything was her class schedule and missing from the area of her trunk was her broomstick since first years weren't allowed them. One side of the trunk had less neatly folded every day clothes brought from home and a set of night wear.
Kyra had no idea as to how long she had sat down in the commons room, her face buried in an old mundane copy of magical history. This volume seemed more focused on magical law and the ministry so near 99% of it made no sense to her, but it did a fabulous job of making her sleepy again. Several times throughout the night she thought she wasn't alone, hearing a small pop every now and then but she just assumed it was wood cracking and popping in the fire place. With a quiet little yawn she slid her small frame the chair and replaced the book where she had found it. It seemed yet still early in the morning as she slogged her way up the stairs and quietly slipped back into the dormitory for the first years. Kyra moved almost as quietly as a slug on top of as slow as one and upon taking several whispered slippered steps into the room noticed that Elsie was awake and peering into her trunk from the edge of her bed and rummaging through the things. Her stuff must have shown up. She figured as she walked her way along the line of beds. Elsie seemed too preoccupied to notice her approach and when Kyra stopped right next to Elsie's bed she reached out and tapped her on the shoulder. "Morning."

Elsie, seeing items in the trunk was overexcited. With shaky hands; from all the joy, she took the paper on top and carefully read her class schedule. She half expected to see him as one of her teachers, but seeing no sign of him, she shrugged and placed the paper on her bed. She did not hear any noise when Kyra tapped her on the shoulder which caused her to jump slightly, though she recovered quickly. "Morning to you as well." Elsie said with a wide grin as she glanced back at her full trunk of goodies. "Look! He remembered. He really remembered. I don't have to wear burlap after all!" She said and quickly she lowered her voice, trying to let the others sleep still. She pointed at her new items having no idea what was in the trunk, not fully. "Um, I am still unpacking." She said as she scratched the side of her face.
Elsie scrambled off the bed; almost falling as she remembered she was tangled in her blanket. She chuckled with mild embarrassment as she glanced at Kyra, and she said; "Blankets seem to love me..." She was still curious about what items she had been given, so she went back to the trunk. Digging through her new belongings; she started to lay out the items carefully while unwrapped the wrapped items. Untying the string, and gently unfolding the paper. Inwardly she kept all her excitement but there was no hiding the joy on her face. She tried to keep her area neat and tidy; she would organize things later. Carefully she unwrapped the telescope unable to hide her glee. Hugging the telescope to her chest, she vowed to write him a letter saying how happy he made her. "What classes are you the most excited about?" She asked as she set the wand box aside, and started carefully placing the glassware aside to her left.
While she listened to Kyra answer; however long or short the answer was; Elsie decided she was going to organize all of this now. Before her other roommates woke up. She picked up the ink, quills and parchment and placed them on the side table as a reminder to herself to draft a thank you letter; while she said, "I am excited about astrology, and defense against the dark arts." She refrained from humming as she started to unpack the items in the cauldron. The soft clinking of the tiny glass bottles tinkled in the air. She was looking forward to potions class too, now that she thought about it. "I think potions class will be a lot of fun... although I am rather worried about not being that great in it. My cooking is... well...it needs improvement." She softly admitted. Finally she reached her clothes. Oh joy of joys! Clothes! She thought and she stood holding a pair of wizard robes up to her. She then realized that the clothes had the colors to her house; Ravenclaw. Some even had the house emblem embroidered on them as well. How did he know what house I got into? She wondered. Well he knew where I was staying... obviously... She thought with a giggle and she smiled at Kyra. "Do you wake early like this all the time? Oh! You MUST look at the view. Just before the sun comes up over the mountains. Picture flying over those hills." She added as she pointed to the window. She then placed all her clothes on the bed, neatly while she smoothed out any wrinkles. She was unsure what the gloves and hat was for, but she kept those on the bed. She would store them in her tiny wardrobe. She had seen the mini wardrobe when there was better light; so she would hang what clothes she could in that. The rest would fit in the bottom drawer of her side table. She wanted the trunk to be school supplies only; so she removed every bit of clothes and then found wrapped books. Grinning, she started unwrapping those carefully. "What do you know about our teachers?" She asked, reading the cover of each book as she unwrapped it. She glanced up now and then showing she was listening.
Finally she was done unpacking. She looked at all the items and put away the potions supplies; the cauldron, the scale; all the glass bottles and various supplies. The trunk seemed almost empty now. Though she had the feeling it would change as the year passed. Gently picking up the telescope, she carefully stored it under her bed while she stacked her books on top of the trunk closing everything inside. She missed her broom; and hoped she would be able to fly again when she went on vacation. Although, under-aged wizards were not allowed to use magic; the broom itself was magical. It only required practice to control it. There would be a flying class; she had seen it on her list so, at least she would be able to fly again. Maybe she could ask to use her old broom. Last to unpack was her wand. She carefully unwrapped the box and peeked inside. "Oh! How beautiful!" She gushed as she lightly moved it through the air; it sparked lightly and a jolt of magic burst from the tip. She squeaked and dropped the wand; stepping away quickly.

"If you dressed in a burlap sack you may be able to make friends with the house elves." Kyra pointed out jokingly as she placed a hand on the corner of Elsies bed and leaned forward peering down into the trunk and taking a quick glance at the contents inside. It looked much like the things packed inside her own trunk, minus some trinkets and personal items... and far more organized than the mess her mother would normally scold her for. "He appears more responsible than my first impression of him..." Kyra remembered the man and his unkempt appearance. He had the aura of someone who was forgetful and disheveled. That may make for a easier school year if he was the type of teacher to forget about homework assignments or decided to be too lazy to assign homework so he wouldn't have to grade them. Kyra wasn't even sure what class he'd be teaching, as she had never met the man before today.
Kyra watched in amusement as Elsie tried to scramble off the bed, still wrapped in a blanket and almost taking a spill. She choose not to make mention of it and further any embarrassment. Her eyes watched as items were carefully taken out from the trunk and lain out onto the bed gently in an organized manner. Kyra decided that maybe she could take some organization tips from her. She silently watched until Elsie asked her what classes she was most excited about. "Herbology.. Maybe Transfiguration and Potions." She replied after some thought. Kyra was never one for dreams of dueling and had no aspiration to join the Aurors and fight evil wizards but she would confess to looking forward to charms and defense just for the chance to fire spells around. She wasn't so much looking forward to flying, or History of Magic but then again... there probably never was a student who looked forward to the forever boring History of Magic classes.
"I'm a little slow. So I try to wake up early to give myself enough time to get dressed and wherever I need to go." She answered with a toothy grin and a slow shrug. At appearance Kyra didn't appear so sluggish with lanky log legs for her age. Her mother often said she was an walking oxymoron. Born all legs only to walk about so slowly. Kyra didn't walk slow because lazy though, she just didn't bother to hurry and felt there were too many things she'd miss if she walked too fast. Kyra turned and stepped away from the bed as she made her way to the window to peer out into the moon lit night to the mountains that were mentioned. The toothy grin still lingered on her face as she placed her hands on the window seal and pressed her forehead against the window to get a better view. She didn't make mention of her fear of flying.. so there would be no trips over those mountains on a broom but the sight was still pretty. Elsies voice brought her away from the scenery and with another languid shrug and strut back to the bed.
"My mother the Herbology teacher.." She answered, leaving it at that.. not wanting to say anything ill of her mother. If she taught class anywhere near as cheerily strict as she was a parent. Having her mother as a teacher was going to be an awkward experience but Kyra was certain it was one of the classes she'd excel at so she didn't feel that nervous having her mother teach the class. "Professor Binns is our History of Magic teacher... My mother's had him over for dinner a couple times and BOOoooriiiinnnggg is the only word that could possibly describe him. I almost turned a plate of yorkshire pudding into a pillow one evening.. I think his voice continually casts some kind of sleep charm.. My father has spoken of the Defense Against Dark Arts teacher Professor Shimpett. He graduated here as a Slytherin.. and from the one time I met him I didn't think he was a very pleasant man... Short, but with a bad temper from what I've heard.. I don't know anything about our charms professor. Professor Quarenhall.. I think was her name. And a Professor.. Dumblydore? Dumbdor? Something like that is the new Transfiguration teacher. My parents speak of him but I've never met him." She concluded, forgetting the Divinations/Astronomy teachers. Those were two subjects Kyra wasn't interested in at all even though they were right on her schedule. By the time she had finished talking about the teachers, Elsie had most if not all her things sorted on her bed and had started replacing them into the trunk. Kyra didn't jump as the wand shot out sparks but did giggle slightly as Elsie dropped it. "Wands do that the first time you hold it.. That's a good sign, the sparking. But I wouldn't leave it on the floor... it might get upset."

Elsie giggled at that, though she cannot picture actually wearing burlap. The material was so itchy! Glancing back at Kyra, Elsie grinned as she said; "He might not seem like it, but he can be very responsible. He took care of me all these years after all." She clenched her fist, as she added, "Though this does not make up for being up in front of the whole school without my robes. Oh no. It does not." She was going to strike back when he least expected it. She had great patience for things like that; she may have picked up a few traits from him. Seven years was a long time.
Elsie did not even know she was acting in an organized way; she was used to making things neat and tidy, organizing things around the house and more. Hearing Kyra talk about the classes, Elsie started to ponder about the list she had memorized. Herbology seemed difficult, she wrinkled her nose at that. Though she looked up as she said, "I think transfiguration and charms may be fun. But I heard the first year has hardly any strong spells." She would like to learn a mix of everything. See what really works well with her before she even thinks about a career. She tried so carefully to make as little noise as possible as she moved the glass around.
Smiling, Elsie said, "Slow is good. Helps you not miss anything. I am fast; sometimes too fast so I tend to leap then realize halfway through that I left something at home. I must have picked that up from him." She giggled and shrugged. She was impulsive at times, but she did think things through. When excited though, there were times when she was thinking as she was running around. She could be slow at times. But she was sure her easily excitable nature would cause some issues while she was in class. She frowned, having more doubts of the talent the hat mentioned. She had no idea where she even came from, so she had no idea what options are out there for her. Were her parents able to use magic too? Was that where it came from? So many questions swam in her head. She was starting to worry about friends asking those questions. Now at the school she realized that most of these students had a good idea of what magic they came from. She quickly tossed those thoughts aside as she saw Kyra was coming back from glancing out the window.
"Oh? Cool! Maybe I will have fun after all. I was worried that I would have a hard time with that. All plants look alike... goodness. So many plants..." She said with a worried look. As she listened to the information of the teachers, she was starting to grow at ease again. It seemed most of the teachers; aside from defense against the dark arts, seemed nice enough. She was curious to the teachers not mentioned. She will hopefully meet them soon enough. The classes were split up during the week and they had a busy schedule at that. "We will have to find some way to repel that sleep spell then." She said with a giggle as she thought of the boring history of magic teacher. Oh dear. I am not looking forward to a boring class.
Elsie was still hesitant when she walked over to the wand again, glancing once more at Kyra who had the look of confidence when she said wands tended to do that when they were first held. Well... ok... She thought and she picked the wand up and she felt it was warm to the touch. Interesting... she thought. Wait... "What do you mean the wand may get upset?" She asked.

"Except the start of every class... " She remarked, pointing out that being late to class probably wasn't an upside to walking slow. Kyra already knew she'd be tardy from time to time.. She'd have to start routing the fastest available paths to get from class to class otherwise the detentions would start piling up. Kyra wondered how awkward a pair they'd look walking along halls. Elsie trying to walk fast and zip to and from and Slug walking slow, lagging behind. She hoped she wouldn't slow her new friend down.
After returning from the window she made a sour face when Elsie remarked that Herbology may be fun after all. If she thought all plants looked alike.. then that was definitely going to be a trouble subject. "My mother can be pretty strict... She expects high marks from all her students.. And children.. It might be fun but I bet she'll give out a lot of essays." Kyra had plopped down on Elsies bed, and giggled quietly but shook her head negatively. "I doubt there are any repel spells that'll work on Professor Binns. He could subdue a Hungarian Horntail Dragon with just his voice, I'm sure." Kyra wasn't even sure she wanted a sleep repel spell. She had thoughts of turning his class room into nap period...
"Wizards and Witches say that wands have a soul of their own. That each wand has its own personality. At least that's what magical theorist say. Don't really know much about wand making or wandlore.. but my father says if you treat your wand well, it'll treat its user the same." Kyra explained, half making things up as she went. She had only heard snippets about Wands. Mostly from her parents or stuff she had seen in news papers about wands.
Out of the corner of her eye she spotted Japopo slowly crawling the floor towards the two of them, leaving a thin film of slime upon the ground as he inched forward. She hoped the other students wouldn't make much a fuss about his little slime trails as she slipped off the bed and bent over to pick him up. He began to crawl up her arm, up toward her shoulder and the slime didn't seem to bother Kyra at all as she stroked his head with her forefinger. The creature made a faint squealing noise and seemed to nuzzle up against her touch. Kyra let out a small yawn as her hand lowered and she turned her head to eye her bed. There was still a small bit of time before daylight broke and it seemed too early yet to explore the halls of Hogwarts or go down to breakfast.
"I think I'm gonna take Japopo back to the bed and steal a little more sleep." She announced and left Elsie with a smile and a slight slow wave of her hand. Kyra reached up and wrapped her hand around Japopo as she reached her bed and put him back onto the floor as she crawled up into her bed and like a slug, wiggled beneath her blankets.

Elsie waved that aside while she replied, "We will just have to test all the ways to get to class, and find the best way to get there together." She had plans to explore as much of the castle as she could, helping her new friend make it to class will be fun. And she may even learn how to slow down a little.
Seeing the sour face Kyra made, Elsie was starting to dread herbology again. Strict? Aww man... She thought as she frowned and she bit her bottom lip as she said, "Ah... well I will just have to study hard then. And ... fail miserably..." she muttered as she hung her head. Elsie glanced at Kyra as she plopped on her bed, giggling. "That boring huh? Well... I am going to have to think of something to liven things up." She said with a slow growing grin.
Cocking her head to the side, she was curious to learn more about the wands having personalities. Markelm had them live like muggles, though she knew some things about the world of magic; it still felt foreign. She had much to learn it seemed. "I wonder how that works. I guess I will have to do some research." She stated as she glanced at her wand. She wondered what personality this wand had. And if they would get along. She felt it grow warm again and she smiled. I hope you and I become friends then. She thought and giggled mildly. And that you can put up with me. She added with a tiny smirk.
She glanced to where Kyra was watching, and she spotted Jappo. Giggling as the two interacted, Elsie wished again to have a pet of her own. She missed her last pet. He better remember, Elsie thought with a mental glare towards Markelm; wherever he was. When Kyra announced she was going back to bed; Elsie waved and said, "Sleep well then." She smiled as she was reminded again how slug like Kyra acted. She was unsure she could call the girl Slug though. Kyra was a beautiful name.
Glancing at her new clothes, Elsie started to strip from yesterday's clothes and she slipped into a blouse, and skirt; pulling on some socks and shoes as she tried to tie the tie. It was easier to tie a tie on someone else than it is to tie it on yourself. She realized with a sigh and she left it messy as she picked out the herbology book on top of her trunk. She then made sure no one else was awake as she slipped out of the room. She wanted to see that enchanted ceiling in the main room once more. While the sky was filled with stars. She crept carefully downstairs and into the Ravenclaw commons room; once again looking for any sign others were awake. Carefully she opened the door that lead into the castle, Elsie looked around and left the wing.
She stared with wonder as the stairs shifted and moved; she was excited; though her nervousness was creeping up again as she realized she may get lost. Well.. I have hours to try to find my way back... She thought and she stepped onto the staircase and started traveling down, looking for something that looked familiar. She wanted to read the book while watching the stars.
It took almost twenty minutes, but she found her way there and she stayed quiet as she looked around wondering for the first time since leaving if she would get in trouble for being there. Shrugging mildly, she looked up and pinpointed the perfect spot in the room then lay on the bench as she took out her wand. Ok, let's see if this works... She thought; remembering a spell she heard said before. "Lumos..." She said nervously; the wand sparked a bit then faintly glowed. The glow was barely enough to say the spell was successful but enough to help her read if she held the wand centimeters from the book's pages. With the moonlight from above and the wand; Elsie was able to start reading her book; using the wand to keep track of the lines of words in the darkness. She was NOT going to fail herbology. She refused to fail any class.
