God people of the GCA it is with a slightly heavy heart and a stomach that is now down near my feet that I'm addressing you here today. If you've been following the GCD thread you'll know I had asked reaper if our current plot updates are going to lead into Halloween. Today I got a response from her. You can see what she said exactly on my profile's comments section. What it boils down to is this. There are only ten pages of the current chapter of the manga left and that's it. Once those five updates are finished with we'll get the mini comic and then we're done with the airship plot. Reaper can not work on the airship plot past what we got from the kickstarter.
Reaper said things have changed at the office regarding the plot. Her original plan was to have this current plot lead into the Halloween event but something happened with the kickstarter that is preventing us from having Gino vs Nyx be our Halloween plot. She can't have the airship saga be for Halloween. That changes our focus for Halloween. It doesn't mean we won't have a Halloween thread it just means we won't be able to take a lead role for Halloween like I had hoped. We are still going to plan and raise funds for Halloween. We're still going to have fun during the next holiday event.
So what does this mean for the future of the GCA? Just because the plot is going to stop doesn't mean we should stop. We've done so much since the plot returned this past spring. I know interest in here and the GCD thread are going to be lacking once the plot goes on hiatus again but as easy as it's going to be to pick up and walk away from this I want us to find a way to keep going. We can still do something with this guild and the GCD thread.
That said, I'm considering making the guild more public again in order to attract a wider number of people to the GCA. I really don't see the need for the guild to be in hiding anymore simply because the plot won't be updated on a regular basis and we're not going to be going up against the Nyx cult. I'm also thinking of maybe starting up the role-play aspect of the guild again to give us something to do in here. On top of that, we can always survive as little bit of a hangout guild for people. We don't have to let this situation mean the end of the GCA. We can use this to move the GCA into a new phase of life.
So if you have any ideas on what we can do once the plot has been exhausted I'd love to hear them.

THIS SUCKS!
Can we make a GCD discussion thread about how much this sucks? I want everyone to know about it.
As for us, I think we should contact the Nyx people and see if we can set up our own vs. event for halloween! Maybe do a combo thread with contests hosted by both side, and do some kind of tally thing. We could do it outside of the event forum, and instead do it in community projects. It would show Gaia that there are alot of people who care about this aspect of the plot, and give us something fun to do together!

It would show Gaia that there are alot of people who care about this aspect of the plot, and give us something fun to do together! Slick has said on a few occasions that if the Halloween plot doesn't end up being Gaia vs Nyx that doesn't mean we can't do some light RPing of some kind of battle between our two groups for Halloween. He really wants to see our two groups go at it for Halloween.
As for making a separate thread about the fact that the plot is going to fizzle out in October I don't know if that would be right because I'm not sure if we can say that reaper told us that. I know a profile comment is more public than a PM but she's very touchy about just how much she tells people in confidence is made public and attributed to her. I don't want her to get into trouble with her boss if she wasn't supposed to be able to let us know about that yet.
I know this sucks and we want more people to know about this but I don't want the guild to get in trouble for divulging things that the staff might not be able to let us know before a certain time. That said, we should plan for the future of the guild and look forward to a fun Halloween.

I guess so. Besides, you have Diedrich and I don't think the President is going anywhere soon. I know this is a blow for us but I don't want it to be the beginning of a mass exodus from the guild and the group. I want us to remain together for as long as we can and find a way to continue with the GCA. I want this place to be a home for us on Gaia. That's why I want us to think about the future of the GCA and how we can keep her going.

Okay so I've thought about things here and there is a way we can discuss the situation with the GCD without risking reaper's position at HQ. Instead of focusing on no more current plot line we can focus on what not getting that last tier in the manga kickstarter means for the future of the plot. It's a way to address this without saying we have ten more pages and the mini comic and that's it. It's a way to address this without saying "Reaper told me so".
It's a good thing I'm in my it's time to be serious "business" avatar mode.

Meushi I can safely say...I AM FURIOUS. You know what. I'm not mad at all. Am I bummed about this? To a degree I am. Am I going to sit here and let things run their course and not do anything for the future of this guild, the GCD thread, and the GCA in general? Not in the least at all. I'll find a way to make this work without being dependent on the main plot of the site. If people want to walk away I won't stop them. I'll find a way to breathe life in here for as long as I can. Because I seriously want to drag all of you down with me next summer when I turn *LE GASP* FORTY.
That said, Slick always knew there was a possibility that we wouldn't get Nyx and Gaia for any of the events and he talked about doing something fun between our two guilds way back when the summer event was a mere thought. I think he still wants to do something like that. We shouldn't let this bring us down. I'm not saying you shouldn't be mad if you're mad. I'm not going to stop you or anyone else from taking a break from the guild and the site if you need it. I just want people to know that as long as I'm still here I'll fight to keep this guild and the GCA as active as possible because I love this little non canon floating town and all the people who reside in it. 3nodding

We've waited almost five years for the end of the airship saga, we can wait a few more. I never thought we would get an update this spring, and I always expected a long wait for the next one. This is just another minor setback. wink
That being said, we need a huge halloween event.
