<I very much enjoy this weather, Vanavia.>

"Mmhm, I'm sure you do." If she spoke out loud that meant that if Horteth answered then he would have to be near enough to hear her. She'd find the sneak yet. By all rights the dragon should not be able to hide given his growth, but the snow certainly helped. Having something to burrow under certainly helped and considering that the snow was constantly being disturbed by people, dragons and all manner of other creatures she couldn't just follow his footprints.

<It's a clever plan, but you think what you say. So I can hear it anyway.>

Oh, that smug tone of his! She thought she had gotten him too. The dragon was too smart for his own good. If only he could apply that brain power to something more practical than hiding in the snow. Then maybe he wouldn't get so distracted all the time. Vanavia stopped walking, pulling her coat tighter around herself. Scanning the snow she tried to see any lumps or bumps. The light drifting snow however seemed intent however to aid her dragon in his hiding attempt. Horteth might enjoy the snow, but for her it just meant a slightly more troublesome dragon than usual.

Vanavia had about a moments warning, the sound of movement behind her cause her to slowly turn. Just in time for Horteth to dump the snow he had scooped over himself with his wings over her head. Earning a shriek from the young woman as snow worked into places that frozen water had no right to go. Horteth rumbled with dragon-esk laughter as his rider tensed, hopped and shuffled to try and move the freezing stuff out faster.

"Ah! Cold, cold, cold! Far too cold!"

The young brown was attaining mammoth proportions - easily the size of a small bronze, and far more bulky and muscular then any creature that spent most of his waking life sleeping had any right to be - which probably didn’t help when he slewed to a stop, sending a drift of snow over both Vanavia and Horteth.

“Sorry!” his young rider peered over, looking more then a little concerned. “Uh. Do you need a hand?”

"Ah!" Vanavia yelped again as the snow covered her again. This was just unnecessary. Her arms came up in a good impression of a T-rex, while Horteth was content just to shake all of the snow off. He didn't really have to worry about being too wet or anything.

Glancing up Vanavia managed a slight smile. "No, no. It's alright. Just not quite used to the snow being quite so... everywhere." Playing in snow was not ladylike so this was a rather new experience. Then again she was also wearing trousers and boots which had taken some getting used to. Wow, that brown was a big one.

This meant nothing to Horteth who had pressed his stomach to the ground and wiggled his wings about to force them under the snow. It was all part of the blue's plan as he stood up and flicked his wings. Snow attack!

Kyoth blinked as snow slid off of his nose, then snorted and made a lunge for Horteth, apparently in a bid to see if the weyrling would fit in his mouth. Despite his size and relative placidity, he could move surprisingly quickly when necessary.

“Hey! Hey, Kyoth, quit -“ his rider fell at this point - not being strapped in properly (a sloppy thing for which the weyrlingmaster would no doubt later have her head) “- doing thaaaaaat!” She disappeared into a bank of snow, and regained her feet a moment later, floundering in the cold wetness.

A slightly panicked yelp came from Horteth as he twisted around. The dragon kicked out with his back feet, throwing yet more snow at the brown before darting off. Although his dart was more and awkward, stumbling, lope. He had not been expected that so maybe running was a good plan.

"Are you alright?" Vanavia questioned, glancing at Kyoth and her fleeing blue. "He isn't going to actually hurt him, is he?" She hadn't really known of dragons to actually attack each other, but there was always a first time.

Rensoua - oh, how she wanted to be able to actually elide her name - shook her head, though whether this was a ‘no’ or ‘I have snow on my head and in my ears’ was unclear for a moment. Kyoth harrumphed and bounded off after Horteth, his huge feet making mammoth impressions in the snow. Rensoua ducked as his chest came over her head.

“No” she came out with a second later, turning to watch him go. “He’s just playing, honest” She seemed to hear what she was saying a moment later, and followed up with "Not like, wherhandlers with dangerous whers say, oh he's only playing, but legitimately, we're still weyrlings, he's playing"

Letting out an audible sigh of relief Vanavia smiled. "Alright then. In that case he deserves everything he gets." As long as the large brown wasn't genuinely going to hurt Horteth then really he deserved a bit of a scare. Maybe teach him not do those kinds of things to people. "You must be in the senior class?"

Horteth never stood much chance. He still wasn't great on his feet all the time, especially not when in a hurry. Plus Kyoth definitely had the advantage of being bigger and having a longer stride than the young blue too. Horteth floundered on through the snow for several feet until his own feet decided enough was enough. The young dragon tripped and went plowing face first into the snow, head and neck disappearing into the while his rumps stuck out; legs and wings akimbo.

Kyoth slid to a halt, then leaned down to peer at the little blue with a snort. He pointed out - saying the obvious, really. He seized Horteth’s tail very gently in his mouth and tugged, trying to pull him out of the snowbank.

“Rensoua” She said brightly, brushing snow off of her shoulders. “That cart with wings there’s Kyoth. It’s… Vanavia?” It would be odd not to know the names of the junior weyrlings - there weren’t enough of them to make it a challenge for the young rider, and most of their dragons had something… off, besides. She was the stands Impression?

Horteth remarked as he wiggled about, really only succeeding in burrowing deeper into the drift. Perhaps tunnelling through to the other side was possible. Maybe he planned to dig him out? Kyoth's idea however proved better than Horteth's as he was tugged and slid out of his little ditch, which in turn collapsed once his spotted self was removed. Leaving Horteth to lie in the snow, letting out a large and exaggerated huff. That was how.

"Yes, that's me and over there stuck in the snow is Horteth." Vanavia had gotten a bit used to people recognising her for various reasons. Whether it be that she was from a small clutch, she was the stands impression or that she was bonded to the dragon with all the extra digits it seemed like a few people seemed to either know her name or face. Then there was Horteth who had no chance of hiding who he was.

Kyoth commented, nudging the smaller weyrling very gently with his large snout to see if he was going to get up. He further implied, with an image and a sensation, the delights of sliding on ice.

“Right” Rensoua said cheerfully. “‘sorry about nearly landing on you. Kyoth’s feet are about three sizes larger then they should be -“ Kyoth interjected into his rider’s head, “- and he slides if we come in too fast. We’re working on it"
