Name: Reemus Grroou
Reemus -> From “Remus”, one of the mythological founders of Rome who was raised by a she-wolf
Grroou -> From “Garou”. “Lupus Garou” is a kind of werewolf

Blood colour: Yellow [B58C10]

Gender: Male

Symbol: Claw marks

Personality: Reemus is, for all intents and purposes, a bit of a puppy. He's rambunctious, energetic, and has a tendency to chew on things. He does the latter mostly to give him something to do while he’s thinking, or generally gives him something to do when he’s got nothing better to do. Also, like a puppy, he has two modes: being up-and-at-em and all over the place; otherwise he’s sleeping. Once he hits rock bottom, he is OUT. Nothing can get him out of his nap until he's fully recharged.
When he's up, however, Reemus wants to do as much as he can. Explore every nook and cranny of everywhere! Play-wrestle! Catch squeakbeasts! He'll focus all of his attention on whatever catches his interests- that is until he notices something ELSE to do.
Some of his behaviors might be a little strange, like rolling around in sand and hating baths (dripping wet from water is uncomfortable and soggy. Eugh.) He yelps when he’s shocked or someone pulls on his hair, barks when startled awake, and whimpers when he's moping or whining. He also tends to roll onto his back and expose his stomach if highbloods push him to the floor. More importantly, he growls loudly when he’s annoyed, so this boy is basically incapable of being subtle about his emotions at this point in his life.
Reemus picked most of these behaviors up from his lusus, who was thrilled that a troll could act more like a woofbeast, and so never tried to curb anything the yellowblood mimicked. He continues to do them even while living around other trolls because, well, rolling around in the dirt and digging at the ground is fun! He loves anything he can put all of his energy into in bursts, so, it’s a great fit. But if you tell him to stop, he will…eventually. It depends on how much he’s into the moment. Just yell “bad dog” enough and he’ll get it at some point. Some behaviors, however, are too reflexive to control. Growling and whimpering have been so ingrained since he was little that he can’t help it anymore.
He doesn’t know that these things are weird or different. Woofmum never told him that fact, so he thinks this is normal. If his peers are vocal about how off he actually is compared to the norm, he does in fact feel kind of different. But only if anyone goes out of their way to shame him about it. Milder reactions don’t affect him too much; little comments about how he’s kinda weird are more like small blips on an easily-distracted radar compared to being yelled at. Even when he’s shamed, his lusus goes out of her way to reassure him that he’s perfect as-is. If it’s a highblood giving him a hard time, it can be difficult to get out of the funk of feeling bad about himself, but Woofmum will keep pawing at him with pep talks and affection until that reassurance gets through and he’s comfortable with himself again.

Since he likes new things, Reemus LOVES meeting new trolls. It doesn't matter what blood color they are, he’ll run up and sniff at anyone, really. Actually, he might be a bit more interested in a higherblood than someone around his caste. It’s a curiosity thing. If he's never met a seadweller, he'd love to check one out! But he also knows that higher-bloods need to be respected, so he shows that he's submissive to their higher life stature by avoiding eye contact and keeping his head down, so to speak.
Besides that, Reemus doesn't think too deeply about his blood status or any others. If you asked him about the hemospectrum, he’d shrug and say that it’s what it is. He doesn't question it nor feel cheated about his lower lot in life, but then he doesn't question a whole lot to begin with. He’s a simple child who works best taking direction and following by example. That’s how it is with Woofmum, and that’s how it will be with other trolls in turn. However, he’s more likely to listen to a troll above him than below him. So he’d probably follow a highblooded troll of a cliff than listen to a rustblood who’s actually right, based on that principle.
His lusus taught him that the hemospectrum works like this: higher castes are dominant, and lower castes are submissive. Upper-class trolls have more power as well as strength, and so they’re on top. They’ve earned where they are, or at least that’s how Woofmum understands it. She however sees things through a lens that can’t quite understand troll culture, so modifies it to fit through her lens. That skews things some, and while most of her culture teachings are on the right path, there’s still plenty that she’s not quite right about. But, she did tell Reemus that those high above him should be feared, too, because they can use that power however they like.
If someone attacked Reemus for no good reason, even one of those high and mighty highbloods, he would still make an effort protect himself. That goes for his lusus and friends as well. While the hemospectrum is something to abide by, that doesn't mean he'd let anyone he cares about suffer just because. There are limits to how much he'll let slide when it comes to others’ well-being.
If someone told him about higher castes abusing and taking advantage of the lower castes, he’d be shocked and appalled but would still stay as submissive as always. They have all the power, after all. Even though he doesn’t know what or why, he’ll defer to authority to a fault, unless it directly endangers him or those he cares about.

While exploring the desert areas around his home, and the city itself, Reemus likes to collect random items he finds, like sticks and balls and bones and shinies. Anything he can chew on, he'll probably take back with him. While in town, sometimes he has to remember he has to buy things and not accidentally just take stuff with him (whoops).
When he's back in his hive, sometimes he likes to take things apart just to see what's in them. If it's something complex, he won't be able to put it back together, however, leading him to have to get a new thing or ask someone to fix it for him. Assuming he'll remember to get that done, anyways.
It's pretty hard to get him to sit through an entire movie; the best anyone can do is put on something with lots of ACTION and GRIZZLED PROTAGONISTS like Troll Bruce Willis who blow s**t up while jumping in slow-mo while his love interest kills rebel terrorists or something who cares as long as stuff's moving and loud, that's all he really cares about. Not so much the violence itself as it is the BOOMS and maybe the cheesy one-liners.

Since Reemus likes STUFF, he's not too great with sharing. What's his is HIS, so it means a lot if he's willing to give something up. If a higherblood takes something of his, he'll get kind of upset despite himself. He knows that he can't really do anything about it since they're dominant over him, but dang it, he really liked that thing. Mope mope. This is because Reemus becomes attached quite easily, so he’s a bit of a pack rat. It’s hard for him to get rid of anything unless it’s literally been reduced to nothing. Even then, he might be a little too sentimental for his own good.
Reemus is the same way about his friends; he gets protective over them, as well as annoyed if they pay more attention to others over him. He'll go to ridiculous lengths to keep them in his grasp since they're the closest thing he has to a pack, and so he doesn't want to lose them to someone else. As he makes more friends, he’ll realize that it’s REALLY NICE to have attention. Being alone feels, well, lonely in comparison. To lose that atmosphere would really upset him. And losing friends is terrifying; the idea of not being wanted would bother him beyond belief, since he’s not used to being excluded. As he becomes aware of how different he acts from everyone else, he might begin to worry about scaring others off as that concept becomes a threat to his social sphere.

Reemus has some interest in getting into FLARPing, especially if he has friends to play it with! The only thing is that is 'persona' would very obviously be him. Because he's not creative enough for real character creation, and is really only interested in the adventure involved. Any fantasy elements he'd employ come from the action movies he's seen. Because lots of explosions and daring jumps are fantastical or something, right?

Strengths:
. Enthusiastic- It’s not hard to get Reemus up-and-at-‘em about something. If there’s adventure to be had, he’s right and ready for it ANY time. He acts similarly whenever he sees someone he knows, gets an idea, is told to do something…this boy doesn’t drag his feet. More than anything else, he catches others' excitement like a disease, quickly perking him up to join the party.

. Tenderhearted- Some people have a hard time showing their emotions. Reemus isn’t one of them. He will show you just how much he likes you, and pretty often, from smiles to hugs and even occasionally jumping up at taller trolls he likes. If they’re shorter, he’ll give them sweeping hugs or head paps. He'll be supportive, listening to you troubles, and be happy to lend a helping hand.

. Loyal- Reemus’s friends are few and far between, and he considers himself lucky for every one he has. They pay attention to him, make him laugh, make him feel, well, accepted. So, the best way to repay them is sticking by them no matter what. He won’t split after an argument, fight, or anything. He's troll's best friend...er...steadfastly devoted, to friends and beliefs alike.

Flaws:
. Impulsive- Sometimes he jumps up a little too quickly. Very often, he acts before he thinks, which can get him injured, or worse, in trouble. He’s even more likely to do this if someone else is at risk, forsaking his own safety to help out. This can sour quickly if he goes out on a limb for a rebel, or bites a highblood in self-defense, etc.

. Selfish- His friends are HIS friends, okay. Doesn’t like sharing with others because he wants them to pay attention to HIM. It’s very lonely when he doesn’t get that attention, so he will fight tooth and nail to get it back, even if he’s obnoxious doing it. He has so little in the world already that he’s not giving up what he considers his. EVER.

. Rough- While Reemus can come off as pretty nice, that doesn’t mean he’s delicate or knows how to act properly around fragile stuff most of the time. His main company for a long time was a wolf, okay. He goes into things a little too hard with a little too much force. Used to being rough and tumble, he basically expects others will handle it, too. Of course, he apologizes when others get up in his grill about it. But otherwise, he hugs too hard, pushes can turn into shoves, head bonks are basically head butts, and he doesn't automatically apologize for it.

Weapon: Spiked brass knuckles. They even look like a dog paw. 8D

Appearance: He's pretty scruffy and usually dirty. Reemy's also a little tall for his age. His messy, knotted hair is tied up in a ponytail. His upper lateral incisors stick out, and one of his lower canines sticks out like a tusk. He wears a trash bag as a shirt with his symbol crudely painted onto it, since his shirts keep being lost to chewings and tug-of-war with his lusus. He also wears ratty shorts that could have possibly been full pants at one point. He wraps bandages on his feet whenever he goes out since all of his shoes have been shredded. His horns are kind of short, a little wide, and gently curve inwards, but still end at a point. On the outer side of the shafts have a pair of side thorns sticking out, the top smaller than the bottom.

Home: Chittentown! Reemus lives on the outskirts of the underground city, in a very basic hive that consists of a combined living room / kitchen, and a large respiteblock he shares with his lusus. Unsurprisingly, the furnishings in the living room area have been chewed and shredded, from rugs to the couch. There's also a TV in there that's rarely used. The kitchen fridge is full of meat.
Reemus's respiteblock is full of toys, and the walls are lined with shelves that he's used for his more-fragile finds. His lusus has a large woofbeast bed in there, close to his recuperacoon.

Lusus: A large, shaggy howlbeast whose legs end in proportional troll-like feet (toes and all), not paws. Her fur thins out to hairy feet. She’s Woofmum! But prefers to go by “Gillian”. Gillian is definitely a wolfy-wolf who sees Reemus as her pup. While she taught him the basics of troll society, she was very loose about how trolls actually are. She doesn’t care about the nuances of a completely different species, and there are parts she wouldn’t get even if she tried. Her main interests were to make sure Reemus knows enough to stay safe. Beyond that, he’s on his own culture-wise.
She was the one who taught him the importance of loyalty, though. And, as a wolf, she’s rough and tumble with him a lot, because she believes that physical prowess is better than being a smart weakling. The world is a tough place, so you have to be tough yourself; but having others to fall back on is a great gift that he should seize if he can, and having others to live for is better than having to go solo all the time. Gillian knows that from personal experience in raising her charge.
The Woofmum personally isn’t a fan of being shoved into the cave system of Chittentown, and gets restless often. She finds troll technology strange and likes to try to bite and chew what she can. By now she knows electronics shouldn’t be trifled with, but anything that can’t kill her on the spot is fair game. She finds the idea of clothing to be a sad concept, but only tolerates the practice because trolls themselves do not have fur, the pitiful things.
Gillian is protective of her charge in social settings, as a wolf mother is about her pup, but has to hold back and let him socialize and find whoever will be his packmates, whether temporarily or permanently. Whether she likes it or not, she has to let her boy be independent to a degree. She will however jump in if he seems to be distressed- although she’s not always right about how dire his situation may be (or, really, lack thereof.) She’s responsible enough to know when to get the hell out of dodge, though, and has no problems carrying him back to their hive by the scruff of his shirt if he’s been misbehaving.
Reemus himself respects his lusus to a high degree; she taught him everything he knows, and she’s rarely been wrong up to this point, so he listens to her without question. She’s also very, very fun and kind, although not always gentle. He loves having all of her attention most of the time, and can’t say no to having a permanent wrestling buddy who will also always be there for him to cry on.
That said, she can be a bit embarrassing sometimes, but he wouldn’t trade her for the world.

Power: Woof. (No)

Teen plans

User Image
I'm HOPING Reemus gets adopted by someone who gets him to chub up by giving him a richer diet and possibly sweets, as well as makes him clean up nicely and get a HAIRCUT since his long locks are too much of a mess to fix without him screaming in pain during untangling and once it's brushed he'll leave it for weeks and weeks until it's a nest again; and dress like a normal trollian being. Actually might make him dress NICELY like in khakis and cable-knit sweaters. Just because he's a mustardblood doesn't mean he can't deck out in something purdy.

He'll also quickly become a hairy little bugger. Like seriously. Basically overnight the facial hair hormones will trigger and POOF. RIDICULOUS SIDEBURNS in like a week's time. Dang boy.

Even though he's gonna be a chubber, though, that doesn't mean he'll be incapable of fighting! Not by a long-shot. As a teen, Reemus will build up arm strength sparring and fighting with his spiked knuckles. We'll put him on the road to bara by hook or by crook, dangit!

EDIT: I guess also at this point how he was raised and how he SHOULD act will come into conflict. His lusus will want him to act the way he enjoys, meanwhile society will temper him a bit. Lots of room for whimpering and trying to figure out an equilibrium, I'm sure.

Okay! Q+A time for Reemus!

My number one question here is why Reemus does the things he does. His quirks coincide with his theme, of course, but I’d like to hear more about where they came from in context. Why does he like chewing on things, for instance? Why does he roll around in the dirt? Are his doggy quirks a subconscious thing for him, or is he aware of them? If so, how does he feel about it?

I’d also like to know more about Reemus’s thoughts towards other trolls. He can apparently be “trained” in and out of behaviors by people. What prompts him to listen to others? Is he self-conscious at all? This coupled with his attitude towards highbloods paints Reemus as a pretty submissive person. If this is the case, what’s Reemus’s thought process behind this?

In that same vein (ha), I’d like to hear more details about how Reemus believes the hemospectrum works. Gillian taught Reemus about the hemospectrum, so I’m interested to hear how she explained it to him. Does he believes the highbloods are in charge for a reason/buy into the propaganda of them being better suited to leadership positions, or is his deference more in recognition of how dangerous they can be?

Reemus’s possessiveness gives me cute mental images of dogs playing tug-o-war with their toys. It’s also interesting here with Reemus, since he seems genuinely anxious about the idea of losing things and people. How deep do these fears run? Are his feelings survival-based (not having enough food or support) or more emotional?

Aaand, finally, Woofmom. It’s implied Reemus gets along well with Gillian, but I’d like to hear so straight from the dog-boy’s mouth. She seems pretty lively too, having taught Reemus his canine traits. Does she get along well in the confines of troll society? How does she feel about trolls that aren’t Reemus? Regarding her loose teachings of the hemospectrum, did that turn out that way because Gillian doesn’t understand troll culture, or just doesn’t think it’s important? Is there a particular area of knowledge or life skill that Gillian does stress to Reemus, or does she just let him do what he wants?

reemus seems pretty solid, but one thing about his profile is it's written in a way where it might become outdated very fast, as soon as he starts interacting with people. bits like " Once other trolls point out how wrong he is", you might want to reword into something like 'if other trolls point out', so it's not so context dependant on this having never happened before. (or at least sound like that!)

i'm in a bit of a conundrum over tenderhearted - in such a troll eat troll world that seems more like a weakness that could be exploited. if you can explain to me how that helps /him/ though, i'll have no problem with it. give me a direct quote when you get to this part and we can chat about it!

Edited the app in response to the first paragraph

Here are my thoughts in response to the second part of your post, aA:
While it IS an easily-exploitable trait on Alternia, it does help Reemus as well because it makes him seem like less of a threat. Being genuinely nice makes it easier for others to loosen up around him, and possibly even share information in his presence that they wouldn’t otherwise because they think he’s a simple dope. While they’re not –completely- wrong with that opinion, being tender-hearted is still a way he might be able to worm himself in with other trolls who like positive attention or find it harmless enough to put their guard down.
So, basically, it could help him socially, from getting other trolls to like him for being nice, AND with trolls who could tolerate him for seeming like a harmless mook. Could get him into more social circles that way, perhaps? :0a
