 Pyper waddled along, her large stomach making it a bit harder for her to walk, but she didn't mind, as she was ecstatic that she and Raja were expecting little ones. It was her first time so she was very nervous.
She was making her way to the stream nearby to get a drink, and maybe even lie down to cool herself for a bit. The hot summer sun beating down on her kept her hot and sweaty. Some cool water would bring a nice relief.
Gizmo walked along beside her, not paying a lot of attention to where they were going. She sniffed the air, catching scent of another Soquili nearby, and perhaps another feline. She kept alert, watching around them for signs of the intruders. "We have company," she said quietly, looking around.
Pyper looked down at the bobcat and smiled. "Oh? Let's hope they're of the friendly sort." She too looked around to see who might be joining them on their way to the stream.

 Chayse and Preston had been to visit her son Austin recently, and were just on their way home. Preston had talked her into a detour, so that he could visit a stream he knew of that ran nearby. His stomach was growling, and he wanted some fish. After a few moments of persuading, she relented and they made their way to the stream.
As they neared, Preston's ears perked and the fur on the back of his neck stood up. "There's another feline nearby," he muttered, more to himself than to Chayse, but she managed to hear him. Her thoughts were focused mainly on the trip and the time she had gotten to spend with her son and family. His voice broke her from her thoughts. "A feline? You mean another lion?" she asked. Preston sniffed the air and shook his head. "Not sure. Will know soon enough though if they get any closer."
Chayse wasn't too worried about it, as they had come across others in the forest before. Up ahead she could hear the trinkling sounds of water. "We're almost there aren't we?" she asked. She assumed there might be other Soquili or creatures drawn to the water as well, so it wasn't much of a surprise that they might meet someone else there. Preston sprinted ahead towards the water. "Yep. We're here!" he called back, his previous worry about another feline temporarily forgotten.
Chayse made her way a little slower, but soon found the stream. Now that she was here, she noticed how thirsty she had become and lowered her head to drink. She closed her eyes and relished in the cool, clear water as it refreshed her dry throat.

Pyper's ears were alert, listening for any threat that might come with the strangers nearby. Gizmo ducked into the bushes, sneaking towards the water's edge. As she neared, she caught sight of something pink, two somethings actually. She watched the pink mare drink from the stream and the pink lion who was watching a fish swimming out in the water. Gizmo licked her lips at the thought of a tasty fish, but shook her head, knowing she should go back and tell Pyper. As she turned to go, she stepped on a twig and heard a loud snap. Uh oh...

Preston had been watching a fish swim downstream as Chayse drank her fill of the cool water. He was about to swipe at it when he heard the twigs snapping behind him on the bank. He turned quickly to see who was there to catch a glimpse of something pink tarting away through the bushes. He quickly gave chase, knowing instinctly that it was the feline he'd smelled earlier by the way it moved and the scent he picked up.
Chayse hadn't heard the twig snap over the sound of the water, but her attention was snared when Preston quickly darted off into the underbrush. "Preston?" she called after him. She knew he could take care of himself, but she always worried when he left her side.

Gizmo quickly darted away, running back towards Pyper, but she knew she'd been found. She saw Pyper ahead, and ran around her and up into a tree. "We've got company." she cried down to her.

Preston's nose caught the scent of the intruder he'd heard, and gave chase. He darted through the bushes, dodging this way and that. He burst through the bushes, narrowly missing a heavily pregnant mare standing there. He halted, backing himself against the bushes and eyes darted around looking for the bobcat. He caught sight of her up in a tree above the mare. He let out a low growl, narrowing his eyes at her.
Chayse was still at the stream but heard the low growling nearby. It seemed to be coming from beyond some bushes where Preston had taken off. She was curious as to what was going on, so she followed suit. As she stepped through the bushes, she too saw the heavily pregnant mare, Preston growling up into a tree, and a bobcat staring down at the lot of them.
"Well," she said, "What do we have here?" She chuckled at the situation, not phased at all by the growling lion or bewildered expression on the other mare's face.

As the lion darted into the open area after Gizmo, Pyper became quite alarmed at their company. She wasn't really scared of the lion as she was a lot bigger than him, but she was a bit concerned about Gizmo. She'd opened her mouth to try and soothe the animal when another mare stepped out following behind the lion. A look confusion came over her, but at the mare's light hearted retort, she felt the tension in the air lessen just a little.
"It seems our feline friends don't like each other," Pyper replied. "I'm sorry if we've stumbled upon your territory. We were just seeking some refreshing water on our way home.

Chayse laughed, amused at the mare's words. "No dear," she said, "This isn't our territory. We're on our way home as well. Preston's just a bit protective is all." She looked down at him, still on guard, but no longer growling. His tail twitched in annoyance as he glared up at the bobcat still in the tree.
"Sorry if he scared you. He means no harm to you though, do you Preston?" she shot him a glare that read 'don't you even dare' and looked back to the mare. "So, is this your first time?" she asked, nodding her head towards the mare's swollen belly.

Pyper smiled back at the mare, amused at her banter with the lion. "Oh, he's fine. Just startled me a bit is all."
"Well, I'm glad we're not intruding at least. And yes, this is my first time. I'm so excited. So is my mate, Raja. Are you a mother as well?" she asked.
Up in the tree, Gizmo ignored most of the Soquili's conversation and kept her focus on the lion. She didn't want to come down from the tree, but what if he tried to hurt Pyper? Gizmo had grown to care a lot for the mare, and felt it her responsibility to keep her safe when Raja wasn't around. She felt she had a good vantage point in case anything should happen, so she decided to stay there in the tree for now.
