Name: Shoyo Hinata
Age: 16
Birthday: June 21

Height: 5'3"
Weight: 114lbs

Appearance: It would be no exaggeration to describe Shoyo as tiny, but his bright and loud disposition gives him a significantly larger presence than his small frame warrants. His short, curly hair is a sunny shade of orange, his brown eyes sharp and expressive. Though his complexion isn't particularly tan, it's clear from a glance that he spends a healthy amount of time outdoors, and his toned limbs are indicative of diligent exercise. Shoyo prefers to dress in clothes that are comfortable and easy to move around in. His favorite shirt is a dark graphic tee with the word FLY printed on the front side and a pair of folded wings printed on the back. He's usually seen carrying a rotund black and yellow bag that he uses to house a volleyball and an odd assortment of other items.

Family: Mother, Father, Sister (Natsu, Age 6)

History: Shoyo was born in the Kanto region and lived there until he was five years old, immersed in pokemon culture and enamored with the League and the thought of becoming the champion. Just before he started school, his father's job forced the family to relocate back to his parents' rural hometown on the northeastern side of Japan. Pokemon training had no prominence in the area, but he still held onto his admiration for the League and for a trainer's spirit, swearing that one day he would wear the mantle of an ace trainer. Eventually he gained the companionship of a black Hawlucha, dubbed Giant for the small bird's overwhelming presence.

Becoming a pokemon's trainer, however, didn't set Shoyo on the path to becoming an ace trainer as easily as he would have expected. Battles were few and far between, and healing items were sparse and expensive. With conventional training struck from his list of feasible options, Shoyo took up volleyball, inspired by a televised match. Though the sport was initially intended to be a means of bonding with his Hawlucha, building trust between them, and honing their physical strength and reflexes, Shoyo gradually became more and more smitten with the sport.

Before the spring of his first year of high school, Shoyo's family relocated once more, this time to the city of Camphoreon in the small Kodo region.

Likes: Volleyball, pokemon, physical activity, challenges, acknowledgment
Dislikes: Scary things, being held back, rudeness, disregard

Skills: Athletics (particularly jumping), sharp reflexes, volleyball, bilingual (English, Japanese)
Weaknesses: Math, critical thinking, scary things, confrontation, moderation, tactful communication

Personality: Shoyo's small body is host to boundless energy and enthusiasm. He is loud, talkative, and highly animated, traits that can make him come off as extremely annoying to certain kinds of people. He doesn't mean any harm, though; Shoyo wears his heart on his sleeve, and any lies or ulterior motives will immediately reveal themselves in his frank and expressive features. His curious, friendly nature enables him to strike up a conversation with just about anyone who looks approachable. He dislikes being ignored, and because of this, it's very difficult to ignore him for long - he is relentless when seeking acknowledgment.

Shoyo has a scrappy side that he demonstrates when confronted by someone that he finds intimidating. He's quick to volley insults and challenges, but if he actually manages to provoke someone, he's even quicker to hide behind the nearest human shield. He possesses a fairly substantial cowardice, a large part of which stems from his tendency to do everything all or nothing. Experiences that are meant to be thrilling, such as horror movies or roller coasters, are downright terrifying for Shoyo. He has a similar intolerance for pressure and is unable to function normally when heavy expectations have been placed upon him. He works himself up easily and is susceptible to stomach cramps when nervous.

As easily as he is unnerved, Shoyo is similarly as easily impressed and excited. It takes very little for him to find something impressive about a thing, and he makes no secret of when he feels something is awesome. However, he often has a hard time articulating those feelings and tends to use sound effects as descriptors, emoting with his entire body. Fortunately, he has more than enough stamina to sustain his restlessness and explosiveness.

Shoyo's desire to win is unrivaled, bordering on obsession. He faces insurmountable obstacles as opportunities to learn and improve; even when his every effort is rendered futile, his still pours forth his all in a frantic endeavor to seize a foothold and turn the situation back to his favor. He absolutely refuses to give up until he's been defeated, no matter how hopeless his prospects of victory.
