I'm hearing story after story of police killing unarmed citizens when they posed no threat to anyone. Stories of unarmed citizens being murdered and the murderer going away "innocent" of ending someone's life. Theft is not a reason for death; it's a reason for arrest and trial. Being black is not a reason for death; it's a way of identification. I don't know what to do because I feel like someone is intentionally commanding these things to start a civil war, and I don't want to be goated into that if that's the cause, because it's working, and I prefer peace.

Ah...Yeah, The "Martin" case
happened around my area neutral

The guy got found innocent
and things flared up but they calmed down.

...Until recently.

Another unarmed kid has been
killed. I can't remember his name confused
but things got bad fast.

A lot of riots.
I saw a man running with a flaming television gonk

Are you talking about Mike Brown in Ferguson?

I'm disgusted with how the situation has been going on in Ferguson. Especially because the protestors have been doing NOTHING wrong (and those involved in the looting aren't even a majority of the protestors), so the police just think they can go after innocent civilians. I didn't realize this was the 1960s' all over again.

I hide from the world these days. I don't have television besides Netflix, haven't for years. And I don't get on Facebook anymore. So I am kind of dead to the world.

I have lost all faith in the law. For reasons different than this. I have seen so much injustice.

First thing that made me start to loose hope was my mom's car. She sold it to a tow truck driver. Now she is partly to blame here, because she never made him sign any kind of document, and being trusting as she is she gave him the title and everything. (But didn't sign it) Dumb. xD But here's where the law did wrong. She eventually called the police when he still didn't pay. Things had gotten heated by this point, so she asked to meet him in the police station. He agreed. He payed her a small amount of what he owed. He admitted to the police how much he owed her. On record, in front of multiple police admitted he went months without giving her a dime, and that he had sold the car to someone else for thousands of dollars. She never got another cent off him. The man he had sold it to got in contact with her, and told her the tow truck driver had sold it to him saying it was a towed car and the owner was dead. She asked him to tell the cops. He did. My mom never got her money. The cops did nothing.

The next thing was my assault charge. I was being harassed by my roommate and his gf. I was so afraid of her I didn't leave my bedroom. It all started because I told him if she was going to live there, we should be splitting the bills and rent 3 ways. She was not a part of the lease or anything. But the day we moved in there she was. Doing laundry all the time, running up our bills, eating my food. She had a job but did not contribute one bit. I told the landlord and she told her to leave, but she refused. One day it got heated, and my landlord told me to call the cops. I showed them threatening texts. They said it was hearsay! They left. When my roommate got home he started screaming at me. I stepped forward to yell in his face and I accidentally stepped on his toe. He was wearing steel toe boots and I was wearing flip flops. There is no way I hurt him. He called the cops and said I assaulted him. I started packing. The cops arrived and I told them I was leaving, moving out of my own house. I explained the whole thing. My landlord was even there, on my side. I ended up in jail anyway, and they granted him a restraining order. He was even drunk.

The last thing happened this week. I will never again call the law as they just don't give a s**t. My old neighbor kidnapped a child and held her hostage. The mom called the police and removed the child. They told the woman, "Don't let your kid up there again, the woman who kidnapped your daughter is on meth." AND THEY LEFT. She didn't even get a ticket, NOTHING! So my mom tells me how the kidnapper leaves her kids home alone every night. Small kids. So I got fed up and called DFS. They went out. THEY DID NOTHING. This woman is obviously on meth, even the cops know it. And nobody is doing anything! She keeps threatening my mom, and throwing buckets of water on her head every time she leaves her apt. My mom told the cops when they came out yet again, and still, nothing is being done.

The law is crooked. All I can say is we all need weapons. And we can't trust even those who have sworn to protect us. I'm afraid to even step out of my house almost anymore. Evil people are everywhere, and some of them are in positions of power, with no checks on their behavior. It seems to be happening to all races. In some areas blacks are being targeted even more. But it's safe to say at this point, no matter the color of your skin, you may end up a victim of the system which is in place to protect us.

Now that I think about it, I have seen actual police brutality as well. Both against whites. I had a neighbor who got arrested for possession of marijuana. As they took him out to the cop car, I saw them hit him over the head with a baton. He yelled at them, and that's when they told him to stop resisting, which he was not. Next thing I knew they had him on the ground and 2 cops were beating him. Over marijuana.

The next was my dad. Now I can't say he didn't deserve it, haha. But it was uncalled for in the situation. My dad was driving recklessly and drunk. He did keep driving about 5-10 minutes after they turned on their lights. But when he pulled over, the cop opened his car door, pulled him out and forced him onto the ground. I was in the passenger seat and saw the whole thing. My dad layed there curled up in a ball, and did nothing. The cop beat him, and then another cop joined in, again with the same defense, "Stop resisting!" I screamed, "He's not resisting!" at one point. They finally cuffed him and took him away. I agree with him being arrested. He obviously should have been arrested. But beating him like that was uncalled for. He was well in his late 40's and had severe arthritis as well.

Wow Spen, your situations sound terrible, especially the one where you ended up in jail. sad I never trust cops, especially after living where I did in high school. I overheard so many students I went to school with say they got off for speeding because the cops knew their parents. Such bullshit. No one is above the law!

What can we do about it? Purchasing weapons doesn't improve the situation with these police officers.

redface
I recently had an incident but,
it didnt involve the police.

And im feeling like maybe...
maybe im making too much out of it.

Tell me what you guys think.

I was with mom last week,
going to the pharmacy.
(Walgreens if you know it)

Okay, mom went to the back of the
store to stand in line for meds.
That's quite boring to me so, im in my wheelchair,
and I decide to wheel away to go
look at the candy aisle.

3nodding Its pretty big and
I planned to beg for something.
A tall pale guy spotted me touching some candy.

He didnt approach at first and
I didn't acknowledge him either.

After a few minutes of pretending
to look at something, he came up to me.

I'll admit, I was scared as hell.
Everybody is taller then the girl in the chair.
He asked directly if I was planning to
buy the lollipops in my hand.

I put them back fast and told him I
was just waiting for my mom.

He practically jogged away after saying
a hasty okay, have a nice day.

neutral Guys, was that racial profiling?
Did he think I was gonna steal??
Do you think he was conflicted because even
though i'm disabled, i'm still brown?

Maybe I was just looking at
the situation with fear.

I definitely believe that your situation was due to racial profiling. I've seen stories of this happen before and I think it's sickening, really. It's not right. You shouldn't be able to work somewhere if you're going to harass customers by thinking they're stealing because they're a different race from yourself.

If I saw something like this happen in person, I would report the employee so fast it's not even funny.

Putting it away like that might have looked suspicious lol. It might not be racial, but it might be, it might also be age and things. It's unfortunate we all get lumped in with our bad look-alikes.

right on the spot xp

I was probably
reading too much into
the situation 3nodding

Yeah, I always have bad luck it seems. sweatdrop

That is ridiculous. Reminds me of a story I have where the cop was actually the victim.

I have this really good friend named Scott. He is awesome. We worked together at two different jobs. Well, he used to be a cop. One night he pulled a young girl over for speeding. He wrote her a ticket and sent her on her way. His boss asked him to get rid of the ticket and not follow through. He didn't agree. Next thing he knew, they accused him of telling the girl if she flashed him he wouldn't give her a ticket. They said if he resigned they wouldn't follow through. Turns out the girl was the mayors daughter. He resigned, and never could get a job in any surrounding town. They ruined his career just so the mayors daughter wouldn't get a ticket. scream

Yeah... it does sound like profiling to me. That's a shame. But I think we all get profiled in some ways. I'm lucky for being white, I do know that. But I have been looked down on for being female. Being 5'4, 125 lbs, female, and in charge of a group of men. I'd tell them to do something, and they'd be like, "You aren't my boss." I'd stand there awkwardly and be like, "Uhm, yes I am." xD My boss challenged me because I think he saw that people didn't take me seriously. He put me on the hardest line at work. I finally came to him and tried to get off the line. He said something about how he knew I had something to prove, and that he knew I would try harder than anyone else, so that's why I was there. I understood his point, it sucked though. xD

It's so ridiculous we have stereotyping still. We have female bodybuilders, females in politics. Blacks in charge of companies, black professors. There are so many people out there who are nothing like their stereotype, yet people still get profiled.

I didn't even realize you weren't white Cinderful. xD And I've known you a while now. So how silly are these stereotypes.
