Tierehl was having a pretty darn good week. In fact this may very well be the best week in his life, even better than the week he left the horrid life of being in a male hating herd behind him and struck out on his own.Just a few days ago he had hired an assassin - though the term mercenary was preferred apparently - to kill his 'beloved' sister and end the reign of terror that the herd held on him. In fact, the deed may already be done. Why it made for a nice nights sleep knowing that his sister was or would be dead in the near future. It certainly lifted his spirits in a number of ways.
Then to top things off he had met a most beautiful mare yesterday and easily charmed her in taking a nice long walk with him. She was the type he liked, beautiful, quiet ad willing to do just about anything to get and keep the attention of a stallion. Clearly she hadn't heard about him before, which was good. Every now and then he ran into a mare that had heard of him through a friend and knew he was no good to be around. But this mare was oblivious to his past and his ways. Tierehl was very good at making the love at first sight thing feel like it was real. He loved manipulating the mares into thinking he cared, thinking he loved them right from the moment he saw them. It made them all too easy to slip away from their herd or family. He would have some fun with them and then before the morning light came up he would be gone. Long gone.
Such was the case now. He had learned to wake early and carefully he pulled away from the sleeping mare. He would need to move quickly soon, they tended to wake shortly after the warmth that had been pressed against their side all night went away. Once he was a safe distance away he could take to the air and put plenty of distance between him and the mare. And since she didn't possess wings he had the advantage.
As he flew away he noticed the mountain in the distance and the bare earth that spread around it. What an odd place. Perhaps if he had paid more attention to where he was traveling to, and the instructions that Achilles had given him, Tierehl would realize that he was coming into the area of the Spider Queen, the one who would help him get the herb that Achilles wanted as payment, the one that Tierehl had vowed to avoid to get out of his end of the deal. But Tierehl wasn't aware of this as he landed on the practically barren land get to a closer look.
