She'd only been back in Destiny City for a few hours, rummaging amongst her packed belongings in her new apartment when the realization had smacked her over the head. Damn, was she lonely. Trips to Europe meant being far away from everyone, and even worse was that she decided to contact only Nic during that time she was away. Cuz, well, you know.. Even though she was running away from everyone and everything, she still loved him like no one's business. Of course, even that little thing fell through, but that's another story for another time and perhaps for a solo or something. And so a much older and perhaps a bit wiser Esme stood in the middle of her new apartment, fingers idly stroking the touch screen until they rested on a name in particular: Jett. She hadn't told anyone where she was going, save for that wayward ex-boyfriend of hers. Should she.. Would Jett be pissed if she tried to call now? Maaaaaybe she should just put down that phone and walk away. Yeah, just walk away, and they will spare your life. Just walk away. Then again, there was a reason why she returned to Destiny City. Esme sighed and hovered her index finger over the call button. Just one push was all it needed. Hell, maybe he wasn't even home. .. hopefully. Maybe. Augh. AUGH. Oh ******** it. Press. She held the phone up to her ear and waited.

Jett was out fooling around as Remarque tonight, so Raven was using her time as wisely as she could, and was packing her things up. She still hadn’t told Jett that she was skipping town, but she figured it would come into play eventually. Especially since she was packing now.
Raven heard a faint ringing sound coming from under a pillow on the bed and stuck her hand under it, pulling out Jett’s cell phone. Well. That was great. If something happened to him, now there was no way she could get in contact with him, even if she wanted to. What a stupid, guy like thing to do.
Her teal eyes flashed down to the screen, and she frowned. Some girl named Esme was calling. What kind of a name was that? And why…whatever.
She drew in a breath and pressed the answer button, holding the phone up to her ear. “Jett Draven’s phone. This is his fiancé Raven speaking, how can I help you?”
There was ice in her voice, that much she was sure of. And honestly, rather proud of. Whoever this Esme was, maybe she would get the idea and just hang up. Damn. Why did Jett have to be such an a**?

Uhhhhh....
Raven. Raven equals Lesath, right? That, er, that would make sense. Right? Those two were still together quite possibly oh dear God let it be true.
Esme cleared her throat. Time to get all spy-tactical. "...This is a sorta old friend of yours and Jett, Miss.. Moth. N-not me. You're the moth, right? Wait, let me start over."
Dammit, she was slipping back into her old, goofy self again. Gotta stay focused. Gotta be mature. "This is someone who hasn't been around for a long time. It's me, ...Aurora."

Raven paused, some of her initial anger and annoyance draining away when the girl on the other end of the phone mentioned that she was ‘the moth’. Aurora, huh? She had to think about it for a long moment, but finally she remembered the girl, the pretty one with the pink hair and the very pretty fuku…
“Aurora…Esme, hm? I haven’t heard anything from you or about you in a long time…how have you been? Sorry for being so rude, I guess. Didn’t mean to snap at you. I just…I get jealous with Jett. All of the time. No big deal, right?”
There. She apologized, so now there was nothing left to do. “What did you need? Jett’s out…you know. Doing fun puppet things with everyone in the city, I suppose. If you need anything though, I’m sure I could help you.”

"Ahahahahaha." There. Phew. Now that Raven knew she wasn't trying to steal her finace for herself (though he was pretty handsome, she had to admit), there was peace. Peace was good. Peace was very good and awesome.
"Uhm, yeah. A long time. Super long time." Just how long had it been? Maybe a year? That seemed about right. Time just sort of flew by, days blending together in one gooey adventure of escapism and learning about one's self. "Er, I was wondering, since it's been a long time and I really, uh, haven't talked to anyone-- if I could get a rundown of what's going on? Maybe.. in person?
"I mean," she added quickly, "when maybe you and Jett are up to it. No hurry."
Deflect deflect deflect maybe they were too busy and she wouldn't have to be a dark mirror senshi for another day or two.

Raven thought for a moment. “Why don’t you come on over to our new place? I would like to see you. It would be great to have a friend to talk to right about now. Besides, I don’t know. I guess I could use some help in packing, so that would be pretty good. You have a pen, Esme? I’ll give your our new address, if you’d like it.”
She waited for a moment, then gave the address to the other girl, not even waiting for affirmation that she wanted to come over. The choice was completely up to her now. “I’ll make us some cookies or something. I have some things in the fridge and pantry, so…so come on over, Esme. It’ll be fun.”
The blonde flopped down on the bed, stretching out and holding the phone close. “So…I’ll see you soon, right?”

Ulp. Welp. Looks like she couldn't dodge that bullet. "Sure! I'll see you in a bit, then! Uh, I'm sort of in the middle of moving in myself, so I can't really bring anything but myself. You didn't really ask But I figure that would be the right thing to do but ANYWAY be right there." Once she confirmed that she would indeed be arriving at the place shortly and would indeed be there and that the other lady hung up, she had but a moment to let all of this sink in. Holy s**t, she was back in the game. Hair? Brushed. Nice shirt and shorts on? Indeed. Face in order? No make-up and still lookin' pretty decent. OKAY. HOLY s**t SHE WAS BACK IN THE GAME. .. whatever that meant. She wasn't exactly sure herself. Half an hour to forty-five minutes later, she was standing before the door and knocking.

The apartment smelled like something delicious was baking. Raven had paused in her packing and made the box of brownies that had been sitting in the cabinet for…for well, goodness knew how long. When there was finally the knock on the door, she walked over and opened it, seeing who she supposed was Esme, looking quite pretty. “Hey there. I’m Raven, and you’re…Esme, I hope. I made brownies, come on in.” She gave a little smile, gesturing for the girl to enter the apartment.
It was nice, well furnished and was completely a home. Their dog was curled up on a chair, sleeping like she normally did, and that was about everything. “So…yeah. This is my home. Uh. Welcome.”
She didn’t quite know what to say. She had only met the other girl once, and she didn’t really know how to…do any of this. Not that she didn’t want to. The idea of a friend. A female friend was quite appealing, but then again…she had called for Jett, so clearly it was Jett who she wanted to see. “Make yourself at home, Esme…Jett’s not here yet, still…but hey. I still made brownies…” She really wanted the brownies to be a big thing. That and she wanted to shove her face full of them..

Brrrrooooownies. The smell hadn't hit her at first, so preoccupied with the whosis and the whatsis of what the hell was going to happen to her once she got there. But then, LO. Lo did the heavenly smell of heaven did waft upon her face like the sweet fart of an angel. It was quite beautiful. Esme gave Raven the most beauteous of smiles when she opened the door and allowed her entrance. Brownies were beautiful. The house was beautiful. The dog was beautiful. Raven herself was beautiful. "This is a really nice place," she chimed in, almost skipping a few steps before catching herself. Adult adult adult. She was an adult now. "And those are some really nice smelling brownies, y'know. Jett... doesn't have to have any, does he?" Apparently Esme had the same idea in mind. Shoving food into face was a logical step. "Oh, and yes, I'm Esme! Nice to meet you! Uh, again. Brownies?" Yes, Esme. Brownies.

Raven grinned, her eyes lighting up rather mischievously. “Of course he doesn’t have to have any. Half for you and half for me, hm?” She went over to the pan, cutting the brownie into two very large pieces and putting them into bowls. Pausing for only a moment, she went into the freezer, grabbing the icecream, putting two large scoops in each of the bowls, and finally walked back over to Esme. “Ta-da. One delicious, boy free, brownie sundae, dig in, Es. It’ll be good, I promise. I must have eaten half of the batter before I cooked these things, so I know they’re good.
She flopped herself down on the couch and took a large bite of the still very warm brownie, laughing a little as the ice cream got on her nose.
Boy this was fun. It would kind of stink if Jett came back and wanted some, because seriously, she did not want to share.

Thankfully, Jett was not interested in brownies. He had more pressing things to worry about—like dripping blood on the carpet. He couldn't even smell the heavenly aroma when he got there.
His arrival wasn't anything spectacular for anyone that mirrorwalked; the largest mirror in the room rippled for only a second before he hurried out, and he was a split second away from powering down when he realized that he was not alone.
Not only was Raven there, but they had company.
Immediately he opened his mouth to say something but clamped it shut, seeming almost like a child who had gotten caught doing something wrong before his brows furrowed. That girl was not just some ordinary guest, and he had to double take when he saw her face.
Because, of all the nights Esme could have been sitting in their living room, it had to be tonight.
"Esme," he greeted, though the taste of blood in his mouth made him grimace. To Raven, more sympathetically, he said her name, but all he could think about—aside from the sensation of pain, was messing up their carpet. He didn't want a permanent reminder of tonight, and gave her an almost apologetic look before he hastened to the bathroom for some paper towels. He moved, quickly, perhaps hoping to buy a few seconds so he could power down without the awkwardness of transforming in front of the two women.

Esme giggled as she took the sundae and plopped onto the couch beside Raven. "Well! I'll be more than happy to eat your delish boy free brownie sundae surprise! It'll be the bestest brownie sundae I have ever tasted, Miss Icecream Nose!"
Annnnd she was about to take a taste of that heavenly dish, when the boy just decided to port right in through that mirror. It was Jett. A very bloodied nose, possibly broken nosed Jett. She could only stare at the spectacle, nearly dropping her spoon in the process as he greeted them before running off.
This.. was what she missed the past year.

Raven had just snuggled up next to Esme, when, lo and behold, it was like her thoughts were shaping into reality. There was Jett. Bloody…Jett. Like, literally bloody. She stared at him for a long moment, before clearing her throat and putting the ice cream down on the couch.
“Uh. I’ll be right back, Esme. Seriously. Just, eat your sundae, and eat mine if it starts to melt too badly.” She flashed a grin and paused, pressing her nose to Esme's cheek, to show just how much she wanted to share the ice cream, before darting into her bedroom, making a beeline for the bathroom. Honestly, whoever did this to Jett’s nose was going to get their a** whooped. Though, on that note, she really hoped that he wouldn’t notice the mostly packed boxes that she had left on the bed. Because, well. That might take quite a bit of explaining.
So much for being packed and getting the hell out of the city that night…
The blonde poked her head into the bathroom. “What the hell happened to you, Jett? You okay?” And she even sounded worried. Well, that was a major surprise.

If Jett had noticed the boxes, he didn't say anything. He was carefully trying to wipe the blood from his face before she came in and, while he had succeeded in powering down, he wasn't quite the pretty sight. "I'm fine," he said, though his pride was hurting just about as badly as his face was. "…It was a Squire." A bitter laugh fell from his lips as he gestured vaguely in the direction of their living room. "Ironically, her boyfriend. Or at least, he was the last time I spoke to them. Where did she come from, is she all right? He was the only thing holding her together," or thereabouts; the memory was vague, but he remembered being very angry.
"…I don't know, he purified. I wasn't expecting it. I mean—I expected the worst and all, but I knew him. And he just—he was a total blank. I talked with him—like this," he gestured between them, as if by doing so she would understand he meant while powered down. "He saw my face and just—" Jett sounded almost astounded as he looked back to the mirror. "—And I think he broke my nose. Broke it," he scoffed, moving one hand up to gingerly touching it.
It still hurt.
And yet, he still seemed surprised about that.
"I don't…"
Understand.

Raven shrugged, reaching up and rubbing at Jett’s shoulders for a moment, before getting a washcloth and running some cold water over it. “Here. A fresh towel for your face…do you want to go to the hospital, Jett? I don’t want you to end up with a crooked nose because of this…” Heaven forbid she dated someone with a crooked nose.
She listened to what he said, seeming only slightly confused. “So her boyfriend…purified? He was what, a Negaverse agent before? And now he’s a Squire…?” Clearly that was what Jett had said, but still. It was a lot to think about, and quite a bit to take in. “I mean. I was…in our room, and I heard your phone, and it said Esme on it, so I answered and it turned out that it was…well. Esme. So. I invited her over and made brownies and then we were about to eat when you walked in…”
She looked at herself in the mirror and wiped at her nose, trying to clean the ice cream off of it.
“You uh…you sure you don’t’ want to go to the hospital? Or to get some ice…? Jett, I think you have to tell Esme what happened…that’s a s**t ton to take in though…”And it sucked. Majorly. Was that the reason the girl had been gone for so long? Because her boyfriend became a Squire? Raven shook her head. "If I ever see this guy. I'm kicking him in the balls. Fifty times."
