They are making a petition to ban anime from America and Canada! Here's what it says..

Quote:
Here in America, we live in a climate of moral decay. What is the cause of this? It is called "anime". Anime is a perverse, evil, insiduous form of animation from the dark land of Japan, and is corrupting America's youth at unprecedented rates. Here are a few examples of anime which are circulating on the Internet and may very well be in your home:

1) Ah My Goddess: A sick and disgusting show which causes children under the age of 18 to think they are capable of love. The main female character is clearly under 18, and is forced into a romantic relationship by an older man who "wishes" for her to be his girlfriend forever. He even KISSES her, and she appears NAKED. That poor girl must be so confused.

2) Love Hina: I'm not even going to mention the unspeakable, disgusting, *****, pornograhpic events which transpire during this show, but suffice it to say, groups of young men on Love Hina-fueled rampages are raping children at a level unheard of since the 60s.

If you are a parent or a decent human being, I urge you to sign this petition to ban all forms of anime in the United States. Anyone who is found in possesion of anime should be arrested and jailed for an exhorbant period of time. Anime is a dark scourge upon our beautiful nation, and we don't need this Japanese filth corrupting the hearts of the children.

As a resonsible Christian, I demand to see this garbage removed from our nation. Please sign this petition and send it to George Bush, your Congressman, and the makers/distributors of anime filth and depravity.

NEVER!! Luckily, a beautiful soul has created a opposing petition, saying to SAVE ANIME! Please sign it! For the sake of our beloved miko-san, Inuyasha and anime!

Gomen-na saii! I'm sorry if this is considered spam. Truely I am. I haven't seen it on public news, but they've made a petition aganist all anime fans and japanese people. They just got me really mad, calling Japan a "Dark country" and setting a bad example for christians.

Again, gomen-nasai! crying

My advice to you would be just to ignore it. It sounds highly idiotic - anyone who was actually serious about it would probably make more of an effort to not sound like a biased moron, would have research based off of more than two anime, and wouldn't refer to manga-ka as "the makers of anime filth". A bean could see that they haven't an effing clue in relation to the topic of their pathetic little petition.

Anyway, it's not like their petition is going to do anything - I'm pretty sure that Congress has better things to do than make anti-anime laws, and that there is no way to get a majority vote using such stupid evidence. The very fact that the petition says "Anyone who is found in possesion of anime should be arrested and jailed for an exhorbant period of time," proves that the person who wrote this petition has no understanding of a reasonable Republican government and/or how not to make people think you're stupid. This petition will never go through, at least not until Congress is filled with freakishly conservative, Christian, Republican radicals, which luckily coincides with the time that I will assassinate them all for having their heads stuck up their --ahem-- rears.

Yes, whoever wrote it is annoying and should be blasted with a flamethrower for disrespecting others' tastes, but it's better to not give them the attention they so obviously crave.

I would also like to know where you found that.

I'm actually going to lock this. There is no information regarding the validity of this, and I don't see how it will incite any replies that aren't negative. In short.... it's pretty much spam.

As a side note, to anyone actually worried about that petition, believe me it's not going to go anywhere. "Petitiononline" isn't really something that I've ever seen taken seriously, and believe me, congressmen have a lot more to do than "ban anime".... NO congressman would EVER waste time proposing that, and say (s)he was literally forced to, it wouldn't even make it past initial commitee review.
