After finally making it out of the cave — though Lithian couldn’t say he regretted a single moment spent in there — he and Casseth packed their things and moved out together. They took advantage of the warmest part of the day (warm being a very relative term, on Aisko) and hunted, though in the end, that amounted mostly to Lithian ‘fishing’ since animal life seemed scarce and frozen lakes were aplenty. Once the meat was spelled for preservation, they stored it, cooking what they needed for luncheon, and moved on once more.

Lithian thumbed over the map as they walked, squinting at the two options available as bykaldrta howled in the distance, their cries carried by the gathering wind. Obviously, despite not having spotted any in person yet, there was a fair share of wakeful predators out there, somewhere.

“Which direction do you want to head in?” Lithian asked after a pause. “I think we’re at a fork point between the two marked starters…a red skull, and a black snake. Do either of those, er…‘spark your adventurous side’?”

He glanced Cas’ way as he asked, curbing the urge to shiver. One couldn’t have asked for a more abrupt shift in climate than the burning deserts of Eowyn that Lith had begun to grow used to. Even bitterly cold, however, Lithian found he didn’t mind the climate half so much as he had in the days preceding. With the shift in the way things had gone between the two of them, he felt willing to endure just about anything. Sun or snow, desert or frozen tundra, at Casseth’s side was where he belonged, and if that meant blizzards and glacial peaks, beasts, dragons, or rockslides, so be it.

>> 22-75:: Safe! As you wander the cold snowy wastes, you see in the distance a large shadow swooping away into the snowy mists. Continue reading prompt.
>> 76-80:: Blizzard! Go to Blizzard.
>> 81-100:: Encounter! As you are staggering through the light snowstorm, you hear the snarl of a Dragon as it swoops down towards you. Go to Encounter 3.

As you wander towards your destination, you spot the tall cliffs shown by the red skull mark on your map. Hurrying towards it through the snow, you can hear the far off cry of a Bykaldrta.
Once you reach the base of the cliffs, you look up and see the shadowy form of a large ship frozen in time. The sails are unfurled and flared as if the ice frozen them with the wind in their sails. The bowsprit of the ship sticks out of the ice, beneath it lies a small tunnel.

Casseth’s gaze flit over their surroundings, taking in the never ending banks of snow and ice. It had been many years since he’d last stepped foot on this continent and not much had changed since. Though his knowledge of getting around was very fuzzy. His looked at Lith when he spoke, eyebrows raising at the names of both markers. He pushed through the snow and glanced at the map in Lith’s hands. Cas bumped shoulders and brushed his fingers over Lith’s, on purpose, as he glanced at the different directions the map could take them. He smiled as he tapped at the red skull mark. “This way.”

With the direction decided on, Casseth moved away from Lith and set off towards the towering cliff sides indicated by the map. Cas whistled as his gaze traveled up the cliff side and spotted a shadowy, large shape. “Is that...a boat?” Casseth asked as he stepped back slightly and took in the billowed out sails. Just how had a boat gotten on top of those cliffs and on Aisko for that matter? Casseth frowned as he glanced around, looking for a way up to the boat. “Do we...climb up?”

To reach the tunnel you may fly or climb up. The glacier wall is ruff and ragged, though still made of ice so not the easiest thing to climb. The first person up can lower a rope to give a +10 bonus to others roll. Climber's kits will be of use. Flying gets you an automatic success.

Roll 1d100
>>1-70: The icy wall gets the best of you and you just can't climb it! You may keep trying till you reach the top.
>>71-100: Success! You manage to reach the frozen tunnel and begin clambering down it.

Lithian blinked, staring up in awe at the trapped ship, frozen as the world around it like a massive model frozen in time. Eerie, he thought, and a chill rippled beneath his skin due to something other than the cold as he thought of how such an anomaly might have occurred. What it must have meant for those aboard. Shutting his eyes, he sent a quick, silent prayer to Abronaxus for the souls of those likely long-lost, and then tugged his cloak in tighter to himself, nodding.

“It would appear so…and as for climbing…” He squinted up the face of the glacier. “There looks to be a tunnel, just beneath it.” Shifting his packs, Lithian dropped one to the snow at their feet and fingered through it, working until he found what he wanted and drawing it out. “Here,” he said, handing a hefty gathering of rope over to Casseth. “Your wings are larger, and stronger — I bet you could fly to the tunnel’s edge. When you get there, lower the rope to help me up? Mine are still all but useless, and…” Lithian hesitated, wincing as he eyed the icy slope, “…I’ve never been much of a climber…”

Casseth eyed him, and after a long moment, offered: “We can take the other route, if you like…”

Flushing, Lith swallowed and shook his head. “No, I…I can at least try, mm? If I can take on dragons…” His brow furrowed, voice softening as he scoured the sheer, ragged slope, “…what’s a little ice…?”

Casseth looked for a moment as though he might speak up again, but eventually, his desire to press on seemed to get the better of him. So, shrugging, he said, “Don’t worry…I’ll be right there, yeah?” and stooped, gathering the rope to him before spreading his wings and darting up with only a short number of quick, powerful bursts. Once settled, he lowered the rope, and Lithian buried and marked their excess supplies in the snow — not wanting to have to carry them and himself up the cliff face — before fastening a few essentials to the end of the rope and having Cas pull them up first.

When it was his turn, Lithian shivered. A familiar, childish voice inside him began an all-too-well-known mantra in his head: ‘I’m going to die. I’m going to die, this is going to be the last time I breathe, I’m going to fall, I’m going to stumble and I’m going to crack my head on ice, I’m so clumsy—

But, drawing a full, stubborn breath, he shoved the fear down, drawing up the mantra Araceli — wittingly or no — had taught him. ‘You are not going to die, but if you let panic take over, you will. Don’t.

He thumbed open the corked flasks at his hips and grounded himself as he drew out a stream of liquid, forcibly kept in liquid form thanks to spell runes on their containers and — once he began working with them himself — his own magic. As Casseth began lowering rope, Lithian whipped and flicked his wrists, cutting small, concentrated segments out of the ice and using the water to melt out notches one by one, up the face of the glacier. Foot and hand holds, carved by water, all the way to the top. Once satisfied, Lithian moved in and fastened the base of the rope around himself securely before looking up, and giving Cas a quick tug to let him know he was ready.

Slowly, carefully, Lithian began to climb. His pulse blocked his throat, his heart in his lungs and limbs threatening at every turn to shake, but he persisted, only freezing up once entirely, petrified with fear of falling, until Casseth managed to talk him up. Finally, his hand reached the top ledge, and Lithian breathed out, almost smiling — until the ice beneath his fingers fractured. In the span of a half second, he felt raw terror, his essentially useless wings beating the air as he slipped. Then, Casseth’s wings were out, billowing wide as he yanked at the rope, dug his boots in and gripped Lithian’s hand.

“Lithian—Lithian, come on, I got you—”

Lithian’s mind was awhirl, an empty blur of swirling panic and disbelief, his body rooted in a frozen cling to the tunnel’s lip. He heard Casseth continuing to speak to him, vaguely, though not all the words registered, and it felt like an eternity before Casseth was physically dragging him up — with Lithian’s stumbled aid — fully into the tunnel. Immediately after gaining solid bearings, Lithian scrambled back from the ledge, squeezing his eyes shut and dropping his head back to the icy wall as he schooled his breathing, all of him aquiver. He felt Cas’ hands on him, brushing over him.

You’re alive.

You’re alive.

You’re alive.

When he could manage it, Lithian breathed out, and gave a brittle laugh, eyes still shut. “I really want to go swimming…”

Quote:
The tunnel is cold and slippery. Your hands feel like blocks of ice as you crawl along it as it traces the keel of the ship. The tunnel gets darker and darker the further in you go, the light is getting more and ore fractured by all the ice it must pass through. You eventually find the end of the tunnel; right where it enters a large hole in the bottom of the ship. As you crawl through the inside of the ship is pitch black and you cannot see a thing.

To be able to see the group will need a spell that creates light , a torch, or an item that gives off light as well. Adept Orderite Mages will know a spell that can do this, as will Kiandri and Firani Drakein and Dovaa. They can create a torch real fast. Fire feathers will also allow you to see. Feel free to rp some ingenious way to get light if you wish, this is allowed.

If you end up with a light go to Go to Light
If you end up without a light go to Go to Dark

Casseth chuckled at Lithian’s comment as he moved over to him. “Swimming. Right. We can go to the beach when we’re back on Eowyn. Promise.” He ran his hands over Lith’s shoulders and down his arms, making sure his friend was alright. He knew Lithian could heal and would have, most likely, instantly realized he was injured. Casseth couldn’t help it, though. His instincts told him to check, despite knowing Lith could care for himself. “Maybe you can finally teach me to swim.” When he was finished checking over Lith, and with his friend’s assurance that he was fine, Casseth glanced around the tunnel.

The farther back the tunnel went, the darker and smaller the space got. “Looks like we’ll have to crawl if we want to go deeper in.” Cas coiled the rope, they’d used, back up and shoved it into his pack. “It gets narrower the farther back it goes but it looks like we can both fit.” He turned back to Lith, raising an eyebrow and smiling. “Want to go in first or would you rather I did?”

Lithian’s shoulders sank, pulse hop-skipping back up his throat at the words. Crawl. They would have to—

Throat stoppering up, Lithian groaned and worked to quell the need to shake. “I—will we really…have to—?” Lith shut his eyes, but as soon as he did, the thought of small spaces invaded him. Tunnel walls crushing in. Smaller and smaller. Trapped. They’d be crushed. Suffocated. He couldn’t move—

He shook his head rapidly, forcing his eyes open again as his heart catapulted itself against his chest. Forcing himself to focus, Lithian murmured a spell word, tracing his fingers in a quick, intricate pattern in the air with the word to summon a small, hovering orb of light. After repeating the process three times, he gave a push of will and magic, sending them dancing down the tunnel to light the way ahead. Still, his tongue failed him.

“I-I-I—I’d…rather you…go first.”
PostPosted: Sun Aug 10, 2014 4:17 pm

Casseth watched as the balls of light flew past him and traveled down the tunnel, lighting up the once dark passage. He glanced back to Lithian, pausing at his stammered words. He tilted his head, frowning as he moved back of to Lithian. It was obvious he was scared. Of what, though, Casseth was not sure. He smiled and reached up to place a light kiss on Lith’s cheek and squeezed his hand. “C’mon, I’ll be right there with you.” With another reassuring squeeze to Lith’s hand Cas broke away and moved back to where the tunnel started shrinking.

Cas kneeled, shivering slightly as the cold from the icy ground seeped through his pants. He pulled his gloves on before going down on all fours and crawling into the small tunnel. He tucked his wings in close to him as the cave walls moved in closer. Every now and then he glanced back to make sure Lith was still behind him and he talked about random things as they crawled through the cave. About what they’d do when they got back to Eowyn, his next pit matches, anything to help keep Lithian distracted.

Soon, the tunnel edged off and ended in a hole above them. At a quick glance, Cas could see the inside of the giant ship they’d saw from down below. He reached up and easily hoisted himself up and out of the tunnel. He spread his wings out as he bent and held his hand out for Lithian. “C’mon, up and out, yeah?”

Lithian shook, his breath petering out of him like a ghost slipping from a body. When he managed to force himself to move, his limbs felt stiff, unreal, and he constantly saw the walls closing in on them. Closer. Closer. His heart felt trapped, as though it were growing in his chest and finding itself stuck with less and less room to beat. He opened his mouth, but nothing came out, and he focussed on the lull of Cas’ voice. Over the pulse of his heart and surge of his panic, Lithian barely registered Casseth’s individual words, only that Cas was there and that that was what mattered. He watched Casseth move, and kept his eyes locked to his body, trying — as best as he could manage — to ignore the sinking, creeping, closing walls even as his throat stopped up, making every breath a battle.

When Casseth first darted away, Lithian cried out on instinct, his mind wailing, ‘Don’t leave me!’ But then Casseth was reaching for him and Lithian scrambled up, still quivering, until he made it safely into the room above. Schooling his breath and struggling to calm his trembling limbs, he plucked at the magic he’d left in the tunnel, guiding the three orbs of light up and through to follow them and light the current room.

Bones.

Lithian breathed out, pulling his cloak closer to himself again as he crouched, wincing at the wreckage. Pain, death, and decay. Clearly, something awful had transpired here, many decades ago, and the scent reminded him of a tomb. Cold. Battered. And long forgotten. Sending up another silent prayer to Abronaxus, Lithian picked his way through the room and performed a truncated version of ceremonial funeral rites over the bones and blood stains, mentally skipping to the words meant for their gods, ‘May their eternal essence rest in peace among those of their kin lost before them, and their descendants one day find them happy in the realms beyond…

When he reached the end of the room, Lithian glanced back to Cas, touching his fingers lightly to the ladder and glancing up it. “Do you think it will hold our weight?”

After you climb up the creaking ladder and force open the swelled shut trap door, you end up in what looks to have once been the sleeping cabin of the crew. Some skeletons still lie in old hammocks, some have fallen to the floor. Others still show signs of violence and fighting. Through the only door you see, a faint glow shines through its cracks. If you wish to search the rooms, you will find nothing important, though you will find a medallion that was clutched in a skeletal hand of one of the skeletons in a hammock. The medallion opens up to show a tiny portrait of a pretty Orderite girl.

Casseth’s gaze roamed over the many bodies as he walked through the cabin. So many dead, so many lost lives. What had happened to the crew of this ship? Cas looked up at Lithian and eyed the ladder as Lith brushed over the old wood. “Mmm, only one way to find out,” he said as he moved up beside Lith and placed his hand on one of the rungs. He smiled at Lith as he pulled himself up onto the ladder, slowly. With that one step up, Cas was dead even with Lithian’s height. He raised an eyebrow as he leaned, testing the strength of the ladder, and captured Lith’s lips in a quick kiss. He nipped at them before breaking away from Lith and pulling himself up the ladder, tail swishing after him.

The dark engulfed this room as well, but with his sight, Cas could see throughout the room just as well as if there were a light source. More dead. Cas frowned as he stepped deeper into the room. It looked as if it had once been where the crew slept. His wings twitched as he caught sight of a slight glimmer through the cracks of the only door in the room. He waited, though, not wanting to move on without Lithian. Instead, he walked past the beds, trying to figure out just what might have happened on this ship.

Cas came upon the skeleton closest to the door and he narrowed his eyes at the long dead man’s hands. Reaching out, Cas brushed his fingers over the old, dusty metal. A locket? He frowned as he tugged it from the skeleton’s grip and flicked it open. Staring back at him was a tiny portrait of an orderite girl. He frowned as he thumbed over the portrait.

As you open the rotted door a dim light illuminates you. Inside you see what looks to be a kitchen, and hovering in the bony hand of a skeleton with its head crushed in is a glowing ball of light. The light can be picked up and carried with you: this skeleton apparently had a mage create a portable light for him a long time ago. Any mage, Dovaa, or Drakein can sense that the magic is fading and won't last more than a day or two. (Basically will last until you finish the adventure.) Looking about the kitchen, you see that this skeleton didn't die alone. Several skeletons lay near the doorway and one right next to it. You can spot an iced over cleaver, stained with ancient blood, lying next to the skeleton with the light; the other skeletons all have larger swords that have rusted and weakened over time. On a small table near the doorway you spot a journal lying open, the last pages have dried ink and blood upon them. To read what it says Go to Journal. You may keep the journal or leave it here.

The doorway beyond shows a short hallway with one locked door and the end covered with solid ice. Along the hallway are many skeletons, the floor is practically covered in them and fallen weapons. Dark stains mark the walls, bones, and floor.
The only way to continue on is through the door. If you do not have a light already, pick up the medallion in the skeletons hand and the light orb will follow you.

Lithian blinked, flushing warmly at the unexpected kiss, and then watching Casseth climb the ladder as a smile curved onto his lips, some of his tension seeping out in spite of himself. It warmed him to be reminded that yes, there was something between himself and Casseth now, far beyond friendship, and it helped to distract him from the pain, loss, and cold of their surroundings. He followed in Casseth’s wake.

After calling his light to trail after him, Lithian eyed the room, wincing at the added collection of bones. How had these sailors managed to die so quickly that they were still in their beds…? Shaking his head, he moved around the room, murmuring a repeat of the funeral rites before making it to Casseth and glancing over his shoulder. He tilted his head, frowning.

“I wonder who she was…” Child of a sailor? One of the crew? A young wife? A lost sister? Lithian sighed, and let the thought go, his attention focussing on the dim light glimmering from beneath the only obvious door in the room. After touching a hand lightly to Cas’ shoulder, Lithian moved for it, testing the knob and finding it unlocked. The rotted door gave with a creek and a low groan as Lith pulled it open. Inside, it looked to be a kitchen.

Lithian’s eyes roamed the room as he stepped in, ever careful, one hand on his flasks, despite the fact that everything thus far had been long dead. The source of light — a dimly glowing orb still clutched in the hands of one of the dead — looked to be fading fast, the spell weak, and old. Lithian brought his light with him, the small glowing baubels casting long shadows as they danced around the various parts of the room.

More violence.

More death…

Lithian’s attention settled on a book, and he approached it, grazing his fingers as gently as he could over the cold, dust and ice-coated surface of the ancient pages. After determining that it looked — amazingly — as though it could withstand movement, Lith flipped to the opening entry, and winced. Three hundred and six years prior. The Great Engagement would have been in full tilt, then, Lith thought, squinting as his mind tried to place what exact point in history this would have fallen under. As he skimmed the entries, he flushed, biting his lip, and eventually closing the journal gently. Three centuries Draco had been fighting, and killing. Lithian’s shoulders sagged a fraction, well aware that the thought wasn’t precisely fair. All the races had done monstrous things in their own time, but…

Shutting his eyes, he let his hand slip from the weather beaten journal, and returned his focus to the rest of the room. His eyes settled on another door onward. “Casseth,” he called, voice quiet, as if for fear of waking the dead, “there’s another door here…”

You walk down the ice cold hallway, crunching bones underneath your feet, and arrive at the open door and peer through. Before you lies a room half filled with ice. A single skeleton lies against the wall of ice, many broken arrows, rusted swords and a mace lie about it. Quite a few lie inside the skeleton as well. It's clothing was once flashy and a torn up captain's hat still lies upon the skull. Behind him stands a tall female Orderite, brandishing a staff that glows blue. A pretty woman, she bears many wounds upon her. It seems her last spell was once that encased this room in ice. All around her lies chest and treasure. Perhaps she saw that they were about to die and didn't wish the enemy to get any of their treasure. She succeeded, except for a single chest that lies to hidden in the corner. No matter how hard you hack at the ice wall, nor what spells you throw at it, it remains un-marred and frozen still. It will take a much stronger mage than you to retrieve the iced in treasure. But now that you know it is here, perhaps one day you can come back and retrieve it. This will only be open by a special event where you will be allowed a spell that will briefly unlock the ice and allow you to grab some loot.

The chest itself is locked and you will need to roll 1d100 to see if you can pick it. (Using a lock pick will make this easier!) Each person gets to roll once. While you wait, warm your hands up, it's excessively cold in this room!

>>1-80: The lock refuses to open. Perhaps it is iced shut? Each person can only try to open it once. If no one can open it, then move on!
>> 81-100: Lucky person! You manage to open it and now the loot inside is all yours!

Casseth placed the locket back in the skeleton’s hand and stared at the long gone man for a few seconds before moving on, following close behind Lithian. More blood and violence filled what seemed to the be the ship’s kitchen. Cas watched as Lithian moved over to a book and began reading. He turned away, gaze wandering over to the skeleton holding the orb. Cas moved over to it, leaning in close and examining the magic keeping the light alive. If he was right, there wasn’t much energy left in the light. Not needing it, Cas left the medallion in place and moved over to where Lithian was standing, as he called for him.

“Mmm, guess we should continue on, then.” Cas stepped through to the hallway and shivered as bones crunched under his feet and the temperature of the ship lowered noticeably. He pulled his cloak closed and made his way down the hall. One room’s door was open, half hanging off of its hinges. As Cas peered in, the sight of a single skeleton slumped against a wall of ice caught his attention. Cas winced at the arrows and swords inside and around the skeleton. It was obvious, that whoever this had been, they had come to a very brutal death. His gaze flit to the hat as Cas stepped into the room. “The captain,” Cas murmured as his gaze flit up to the ice behind the captain’s skeleton and the faint, blue glow inside the ice.

An orderite female, pretty and very obviously had been involved in the battle that took place on this ship. Cas frowned as he stepped close and ran his hand along the ice wall. He glanced around the room at the many, frozen, chests and loose treasure. Had she been trying to protect their treasure and in doing so, froze herself within the ice? Cas’ eyebrows rose when he spotted a chest off by itself, in a corner. It seemed as if her magic had reached all but this lone chest. He moved over to it and crouched down, tugging at the pad lock keeping the chest tightly closed. Frozen solid, it would take some force to open it up. He stood, kicking at the lock before pulling his axe out of it’s holster. He stepped back, raising his axe and bringing it down hard against the frozen lock.

The sound of ice crunching and metal snapping filled Cas’s ears as the lock was forced open and fell to the ground. Cas’ lips curved up into a grin as he bent and opened the chest. Gold nuggets, a tear, a couple of dragon orbs and what looked to be a carved wooden fox sat inside the now open chest. “Lithian! Look!” he said as he raised up and moved to the side so that Lithian could peer into the chest.

When Casseth kicked at, and then raised his axe towards the only available chest, Lithian quickly stepped forward, opening his mouth to say that he had a lock pick amongst their travelling supplies. He moved too late, though. Before he could get a word in edgewise, Casseth’s axe came cracking down against the chest, ice fracturing and mental snapping under the force of the blow. Lithian flushed, and sighed, the corner of his lip edging up in spite of himself as he tossed Casseth a meaningful Look.

“I did bring a lock pick,” he said, but stepped up anyway as he eyed the fruits of their travels. “Centuries…” He stooped, drawing his hand gently over the golden nuggets, and then lifting out one of the pristine, glimmering blue peisio dragon’s tears. “Nearly three centuries, this has been here…frozen…it seems almost wrong to rob them, though…” He shrugged, “…I don’t suppose any of them have any use for it all now. Do you figure we can carry it all down safely? Perhaps better to bag and drop it - not as though anything but the carving could be hurt by a fall to the snow.”

After thumbing over the wooden animal carving and lifting it out, he hummed, tilting it to get a look at all the angles. It was spelled, clearly — he could feel the warm hum of live magic still in it, after all this time — but how, and for what purpose, he couldn’t discern. Deciding he would have to inspect the magic in it more thoroughly later, Lithian tucked the carved creature away and looked to Casseth as he started gathering the gold and other items into one of their carrying sacks.

“Do you want to explore the other path?” he asked. “Or head back for Eowyn? I doubt the next boat will be in port for another week at the earliest, so we have time, though…we might want to rest for the night first, and continue in the morning if that was your inclination…”

Whatever Casseth’s verdict, Lithian was eager to leave this ship as quickly as possible. The death and violence left him uneasy, and the quiet, lingering absence of anything but ice and old blood and bones felt eerie. Unfinished. Frozen in time with so many untold stories amidst every pile of bones. Lithian looked forward to Eowyn’s burning shore and crashing surf more than he could ever remember missing a place.

Casseth helped to pack up the rest of the spoils and placed the pack of his shoulder as he stood up. He glanced around once more, making sure no more treasure was within their reach. When he was satisfied he moved back over to the only door in the room. Nothing to do but retrace their steps and head back out. At Lith’s question, he turned back to face his friend. “Would you mind if we took the other path? It’s very hard to resist the prospect of more treasure, don’t you agree?” With them both agreeing to rest for the night, Casseth finally headed out of the room, Lith close behind him.

With everything explored and looked at, Casseth didn’t linger very long in the rooms. In and out each of them quicker than they had gone through them the first time. He paused when he reached the hole to the tunnel and glanced back to Lithian. He frowned at his friend’s slight hesitation before he hopped back down into the tunnel. Why did the tunnel seem to bother Lithian so much. His brows pinched together even more as he dropped down to his hands and knees and crawled back through tunnel,

When they emerged from the tunnel, the daylight had already faded from the sky and night had started to take over. Cas frowned as he lowered the rope and motioned for Lithian to go down first. “You first, then the pack.” He hesitated before crouching. “And be careful, yeah?”

Cas secured the rope and Lithian took hold, carefully lowering himself down without incident. Cas only let a relieved breath out when Lithian’s feet touched the snow below. Quickly, he hefted the rope back up and tied the pack to the end and lowered it into Lithian’s hands. With that done, Cas let the rope drop down to Lithian. He moved aside his cloak and stretched both of his wings out wide and grinned. He hadn’t flown much, lately, not getting the chance on Eowyn with so many people around. So when he jumped and dived off the cliff, Cas laughed, the sound echoing through the frozen wasteland.

Cas glided around in circles a few times before finally landing in the snow next to Lith. “That was fun,” he said as he reached out and tugged Lith into a tight hug. “I saw a small cave over that way.” Cas pointed, indicating a spot in the side of the cliff face not to far from there. “We can set up camp for the night there.” He took hold of Lith’s hand, squeezing it as he led the way.

Lithian flushed, a warm smile edging onto his face at Casseth’s antics, and he squeezed back gently when Casseth caught his hand. Resisting the urge to tuck his chin against Cas’ shoulder, he compromised by kissing his cheek instead before moving to retrieve the heavier, excess supplies he’d hidden at the glacier’s base before following after Cas. After prepping food and eating, they tucked in for the night, an event which, before long, wound up being a mirror of sorts to the previous night — not that Lithian was complaining — where Casseth ‘reassured’ Lithian in a very physical manner and rewarded him for his efforts in the days trails.

They rose early. Or, rather, Lithian rose early, and Casseth followed groggily, allowing them to get a head start on the second portion of the map. Unfortunately, not long after starting towards the marked location, they found themselves ambushed by a pack of uninvited guests.
