The worst part about everyone thinking you were dead is the loneliness. It was his own decision of course. He’d done it willingly after Michael died. Seeing how his family reacted to his father’s and then his brother’s deaths sealed his choice. He was going to help with the Resistance no matter what, but it wasn’t worth stressing his mother to death with worry for him. He would always be gone, doing intentionally dangerous things, risking his life… They were better off thinking he was dead.

There was now only one person who knew he was alive, one person who knew he used to be called Peter or Sailor Oberon. She was a long time friend, a Watcher, and she was his only real link to what was going on with his family, as he did his best to avoid Valhalla and Ganymede when they visited the camp, and refrained from expressing curiosity about them.

Even now, he avoided contact with as many people as possible, taking up residence in an unused cryp, forgotten over the years. Most people kept away from it, whether it was out of respect or because it was creepy. He was hardly superstitious, so it worked out just fine for him. He was even prepared for any unexpected visitors. Various traps had been rigged throughout the cemetery — nets triggered when walked into, empty graves covered with sticks and pine needles, logs rigged to fall from trees. It was crude and not as effective as an alarm system, but Ronin did what he had to in order to survive.

Unsurprisingly for the son and brother of engineers and mathematicians, Ronin had rigged small bells within his crypt residence, the tingling of a couple bells meant something bigger or more clumsy than an animal had wandered through the gravestones. He pushed his work aside, along with his stale piece of bread for dinner and grabbed his hoodie to pull it on and see who it could be.

He was ready to collapse the whole plot of land if he needed to… But it didn’t seem as though that would be necessary tonight.

“What the hell do you think you’re doing?” he sputtered in exasperation he found the trap that had gone off, spotting what looked like a teenager caught inside a net that had been pulled up into the tree branches.

He was free!

Free to roam the camp as much as he liked! ...so long as he didn't get caught, which was why Urda went ahead and wandered to an area that no one every really went to: the cemetery. And sure, he kind of knew why. At least he knew why he'd avoided it this whole time. It was plain, flat out creepy. He'd rationalized it in his head, too. What sane person would spend such gloomy, depressing and dangerous times surrounded by reminders of all the suffering and all the death that had happened over the years?

His answer: none.

He spent a good deal of time exploring the borders first, skirting the edges and peering beyond what would be considered the "fence" to the place and checking to see if it really was empty. When he found it was safe enough he went right on in and continued exploring for a time, and the longer he was there the darker his mood became.

It really didn't take all that long for the images to come. Simply being in the graveyard reminded him of the night he'd lost his parents. The images of their limp and lifeless bodies was burned into the back of his eyelids, which was explanation enough for his growing eye bags, and being there reliving that night again made him regret his decision to seek solace there. The young senshi came to the decision to turn right around and go home soon enough, foregoing exploration in exchange for some peace of mind (no matter how temporary that might be; nightmares always threatened him, like so many others).

That was when he'd heard it. A tell-tale click and what sounded like some kind of rope and pulley system being let loose, and before he knew it he was inside a net, hanging some tens of feet in the air. He would have called for help except he was under the belief that there was no one else around to hear him -- sound didn't carry in graveyards, or was that the wrong movie he was thinking about? -- so he'd opted instead to pull out his phone. Urda scrolled through a couple of names before he heard someone, and he snapped his phone shut and looked down.

The question was...reasonable, far as he could tell. "Uh..." he started, then offered his best "cut a kid some slack" look and followed up with, "Hanging out?" He couldn't help it.

“Hanging around…” Ronin repeated, still sounding exasperated as he stood there. “No s**t… What the hell would you have done if I was in the Negaverse??” he stressed, moving over to a nearby tree to release the net, grumbling to himself as he lowered it to the ground. “Isn’t it past your bedtime?”

As if Ronin was one to talk. He was still a teenager himself, albeit one who has been on his own since he was sixteen. This kid didn’t look much older than he had been when he left the city… but Ronin hoped he hadn’t been as careless as this boy seemed to be.

“What are you doing out here, anyway? Are you alone?” Ronin asked as he made his way over to the net to help the boy get untangled. He sounded annoyed, but only because of how dangerous it was for anyone to be out. He had already thrown everything away, so if he died, everyone would have already gotten over him — it was more complex than just that, but for the sake of argument.
