Karayan had done all that he could to protect the pair of youngsters that he'd picked up from the Mara. He'd fought the Mara only when he had to, otherwise avoiding them and keeping to the roof tops or even cutting through buildings if it appeared as though it were the safest way to go about things. The Mara had bothered them quite a bit to begin with, seemingly everywhere they wanted to be, slowly but surely though their numbers had started to thin out. Less and less of them appeared as the group of them cut across the city, making their way toward where Kara's family had set up their base of operations, ready to aid their people in anyway possible. It was something that Karayan had wanted for, getting Yrre and Minerva somewhere safe where the Mara wouldn't be able to get at them. They were both brave but the Mara were so numerous.
Night time had brought about new dangers, that being how much harder it was to see the Mara let alone fight or avoid them, it was why he'd brought them up onto the highest building that they could find in a short amount of time. Once up there he'd put the two of them down on their own feet and plopped down to give himself a bit of time to rest. From their high perch they could see what was going on, the battles all around them, and the way that the Dovaa at the port seemed to be finally driving the Mara back. It was a good sign, that was for certain, it meant that they were starting to win their homeland back from the strange invaders. He'd heard rumors about where they came from, what they were, and what everyone thought of them... but such things were a bit too big for Karayan. Everyone was up in arms about the politics but all that he cared about was keeping his friends, old and new, safe from all of this. After this was all over he'd need to go and check on Sueno and Madryn Col, to see how the pair were doing after all of this. According to the rumors it was Aevah that made these creatures but he couldn't find it in his heart to be mad at his Orderite friends for what their leader had done.
"Mmmm, we are going to wait here, rest up, and move again when it gets light out. With everything going on I don't think the Mara will notice us up here." He told his two charges when he was finally rested up enough that he was no longer breathing hard. He'd expended a bit too much magical energy in getting them up here but he didn't care. This was the safest place to be at the moment and once the sun rose they would be on their way again.
