There were very few things that would get the illustrious and promiscuous TART ditch a hot date. Both hell and some very, very high waters, and, of course, her best of besties. So a sweet request for a lunch date was all TART needed to cancel on her stallion of the week and primp instead to meet Dainty Delta at the most precious little soup and salad place. She, of course, had to look fab regardless that she wouldn't be on prowl for her latest fling. DD deserved the very best- which TART was, of course.
"I'm heeeere darling~" trailed after the tinkling of the restaurant door opening, head tossing to move her curls from her face, "So sorry I'm late, DD." Only by five minutes or so, which was pretty much the normal as far as she went. It wasn't really an attempt to be fashionably late- because well, whenever TART did anything it was fashionable- but rather she just gets caught up tweaking her look before heading out.

Dainty Delta sat inside The Daffodil at her favorite table, smoothing and resmoothing a napkin that sat on the table. She smiled nervously at the waiter as he came over to set down menus, always worried that she'd arrived too early or was sitting alone without ordering for too long. In actuality, only some five minutes had passed between her arrival and TART's, but the delicate mare, always mindful of others' feelings, didn't want to inconvenience anyone. But she wasn't waiting for just anyone. She was waiting for the most beautiful, the funniest, the best-at-storytelling -- wait, ah, wasn't there a better word for that? -- mare in all of Phonyland.
When TART entered, a smile bloomed over Dainty's face. She lifted a hoof just barely to wave, a flush settling over her features.
"Oh, ah, this is my friend coming now," she informed the not-at-all-inconvenienced waiter, who set down TART's menu with a nod. "TART! Oh, don't worry at all. Did you have a date? You look lovely today."
Dainty, herself, dressed in a fine lace scarf, her long mane combed prettily to one side. She smiled with real pleasure at seeing her friend.

Aw poor little daisy, TART actually felt bad for being late seeing her nervous about the very possibility for having possible inconvenienced absolutely no one. She just had to reach over and squish her friend's adorable cheeks- Dainty Delta was just too much. How she ever got such a nice friend TART would never know. While being a completely fabulous bombshell as she was, it made it rather hard to make friends with such genuine phonies. An DD was, without a doubt, the absolutely most genuine of them all. If not completely silly in her worrying- but alas, that was part of her charm.
"You are adorable. Of course I'm on a hot date hon, I'm here with you, aren't I?" Well- it wasn't all teasing, TART could admit that to herself with confidence. She liked her stallions, big studly phonies and all, absolutely everyone in the town knew that. Buuuut if she needed to pick a girl, that matter was already completely settled. DD would be her girl without a doubt. TART was a complete sucker for those big pretty greens of hers- and no one in town needed to know that little fact. It was... much more personal. Which was a strange feeling for TART, wanting to keep anything personal at all. She was pretty good about not caring for that sort of thing. But well- Dainty Delta was a much more private girl, and TART would hate for her to feel any more nervous about possibly upsetting anyone.

Dainty colored as TART spoke, although her smile shone without wavering, as it always did for TART. She couldn't quite explain the little flurry of butterfly motion in her chest as her friend spoke, or when she touched her cheek. She put it down to TART's natural beauty and charisma. Of course her friend was nearly always in the company of some stallion or another. She deserved all the attention in the world, and deserved also to always get what she wanted.
"Oh, TART, you're too kind," said Delta gently, although her flush did not dissipate, showing her affection and pleasure at the compliment. "I think anyone in this whole place would be only too happy to take my place, but, uhm -- well, I can't say that I would let them today, even if they asked very nicely! I'm so happy you had some time to meet. How is... oh... I forgot his name, I'm so sorry. The tall stallion, with the dark hair."
Delta was faintly aware TART had probably gone through several others at that point, but deep down inside, it was sort of nice to hear about her friend's escapades.

"Wow, you must be feeling particularly feisty today. Gonna tell some mad jealous peeps no? Good on you." TART winked as she slouched back into her chair, one hoof extending across to poke at Delta's shoulder.
"You gotta do what's good for you, yanno? Take what you can, given nothing back! Hm, though I suppose that wouldn't suit you too well. Perhaps 'take what you can, send nice cards in the mail to prevent hurt feelings'? Yeah, that sounds better." The mare snorted at her own joke, though not a joke at the expensive of Dainty Delta. More that TART could actually imagine the well-mannered mare sitting down to write out a stack of 'apologies on not letting you have any time of day with TART today, but today is my day with her' cards.
"Eh? Dark hair, uh... Well DD, that could be quite a few stallions. So I'm gonna give a solid shrug in response, since I don't exactly know. And enough about boys- how are you doing on this fine day?"

Delta laughed her sweet, chiming laugh at TART's jab. It was true -- she could never push herself to be so bold or so mean, and how on earth could she begrudge anyone else for wanting time with such a beautiful, wonderful filly? The cards in the mail were much more her speed.
"Oh, I hope they wouldn't be too disappointed, but I -- uhm -- well, I would have to put my hoof, you know, down..." She smiled, shy and charming. "I like having my own time with you."
Delta then shook her head, waving off TART's comments about the stallion. "O-- oh, well, I will assume he was adequate and we can forget him now. Or, uhm, I guess we already did! Me, I am well, thank you! I just finished a big order of sweater capes for a few mares that seemed happy with them, and, well, now I'm here, so really good!"
