"The following contest is scheduled for one fall, and is for the OECW SEASONS CHAMPIONSHIP! Introducing first..."

Weather: Humid, clear skies.
Wind: 3 mph.
Temperature: 95 degrees Fahrenheit.
PostPosted: Wed Aug 06, 2014 10:37 am

The lights dim around the arena, until it is in pitch-blackness. A muffled sound - unclear as to what it truly is - begins to play, with blurred flashes appearing on the titantron. People. Wrestlers? It was unclear, but they cut fast, many different blurred faces showing. It then cut to black, becoming silent, before gold writing appears on the titantron...

The Edge of Paradise suddenly bursts out into the arena, announcing the arrival of the next superstar more boldly than golden writing ever could. Lights began to shine all over the arena, golden in colour, with a single spotlight lingering over the stage. It would not be waiting long, however, as Legacy made his way out on to the stage. Staff in hand, with the Saint's Dojo coat of arms draped over his shoulder, he stood proudly, head held high atop his impressive stature, looking across the audience.

"Introducing first, weighing in at 300lbs... LEGACY!"

As the announcer finished his introduction, Legacy raised his staff into the air. As he did, lightning struck behind him, followed by an eruption of white fireworks. He held his staff high, his head slowly turning towards the ring, his eyes transfixed into a sinister glare. With intent to hurt, Legacy began his march to the ring, his stare unmoving, his will unflinching. An indomitable, yet violent spirit emanating from him.

Once he reached the ring, he forcefully pulled himself up on to the apron, using the middle rope as a pulley to help him there. He stood for a moment, eyes transfixed on the far audience. As he stood there, he began to raise his staff to his side, holding it adjacent to his body. He didn't hold it there long; after a brief moment, he released it from his grasp, letting it drop to the ground outside the ring. As soon as it hit the floor, he swiftly and aggressively entered the ring through the middle rope, stepping forward to the centre of the ring, ready to fight!

While he was surprised that the weather was so calm for the match, it didn't phase him. If anything, it made the battle the same as any other; his for the taking!

As Kamelot faded out of the arena in anticipation of Legacy's opponent for the night, scant seconds passed before the opening riff of Judas Priest's "One Shot At Glory" took its place. After a moment of confusion from the fans, Brody Robinson charged onto the stage to uproarous applause. , entering to one of his old themes from way back when for seemingly no reason. He also seemed to be missing the jacket he'd taken to wearing, but that was no surprise considering it was 95 degrees out there; A bit hot for a guy born and raised in the mid-west to be wearing a jacket, yeah? But nevertheless, here he was stopping himself at the end of the stage, before lifting his arms into the national signal for air guitar and pantomiming along with the opening solo, making very little effort to even look like he knew how to play guitar.

"And His Opponent!
From Zanesville Ohio, weighing in at 275lbs, Brody Robinson!"

As the solo ended and the actual lyrics kicked in, Brody tossed his 'guitar' over his shoulder and started down the ramp, keeping a slow pace while zig-zagging back and forth between the crowd at the either side of the crowd, high-fiving as many fans as he could get while moving along.

"Let me hear the battle cry;
Calling on the wind.
Let me see the banners fly;
Before the storm begiiiiiins.

Breaking off from the ramp, Brody turned right as soon as he hit ringside, sticking with his escapade of goodwill towards the crowd, stopping once or twice to take a quick picture with a few fans.

"Let me feel the spirits sooooar!
Destroy the enemy!
Striking at the e-vil core;
For all the world to see!"

Finally breaking off from the crowd, Brody crossed to the ring stairs and climbed up to the apron and walked to the middle of the ropes in front of the announcer's table. Turning to face the crowd, Brody leaned back against the ropes and waved towards himself, asking for the crowd approval once again, something a great majority of them were willing to give him. With a smile and a few quick nods, he spun back around and climbed in through the ropes.

"This day will last forever, deep in the hearts of men.
Courage and victory; Remember, remember!

Finally in the ring, Brody charged past Legacy and into an opposing corner, stepping up onto the second rope and pointing out at the crowd, before making a bowing motion towards them that he repeated a few times. Giving a quick thumbs up as he finished, Brody hopped down from the turnbuckle, ran across the ring and repeated his motions in the other corner.

"One Shot At Glory, in the crossfire overhead.
Fate stands before me
Words have all been said

One Shot At Glory; Driving hard and seeing red!
De-stiny calls me.
One night of fire!
One Shot At Gloryyyyy."

With all of his antics done, to the possible relief of Legacy and many of his detractors, Brody began tugging at the ends of his gloves while he made his way over to his opponent's corner. It was at this point that he noticed that Legacy was actually bigger than he was, a strange sight even in their sport of giants. But it was going to take a bigger man than that to scare the brawler off, and Brody innocently offered a hand to the man, a sign of respect he offered anyone he was facing for the first time, given the chance.

"Legacy, Huh? Keeping one going or trying to start a new one?"

In a bizarrely out-of-character move for Legacy, he would actually accept the handshake. No cheap shot, no fake-out. Just a tight, fierce handshake. Whether it was a cerebral poke to lull his opponent into an honourable game was anybody's guess, but for now, he was playing by the rules of tradition.

"A bit of both, I feel... a bit of both," he replied to Brody's question, his face donning a mask of seriousness, avoiding eye contact at all costs.

What's this? Someone actually accepted the handshake without taking a cheap shot? It had been so long since that happened that Brody briefly flicked his eyes up to see if renegade pigs had taken flight. With a quick nod and a smirk to Legacy, Brody pulled his arm back and took a few quick steps backwards to get himself into the center of the ring.

*DING DING*

Already standing where he wanted, Brody simply waved Legacy over and offered him the classic tie up to get the match underway.

Legacy did not inch back after the handshake; he stood firmly, feet planted in the ring centre, his tall presence emanating for all to witness. When the tie-up was offered, Legacy did not hesitate to refuse on his own terms, instead attempting a kick to the gut. A cheap shot! Perhaps not as cheap as if it had been during the handshake, but it was still unsporting of him, as he hoped to try and catch Brody off-guard.

And catch him off guard he did! Brody, fully intent on pulling his arms down and punching Legacy in the gut the first chance he had, didn't have a chance to block Legacy's foot in time, and took the full force of his kick. Stumbling backwards, Brody tried to get himself some space while covering his stomach against a second hit.

Clearly he wasn't dealing with a dumb brute this time, or at least not one who ignored a quick shot...

His plan having worked flawlessly for now, Legacy would approach his reeling opponent to capitalise on his offensive position. Rather than attempting another kick, he would try to circle Brody as he tried to defend his stomach. Before getting fully behind him, however, Legacy would turn in slightly, adding force as he tried to aim a clubbing blow - using his arm - at his opponent's back.

The loud thwack of Legacy's arm crashing into Brody's open back failed to echo in such an open environment, but Brody's loud groan of pain was evidence enough that it connected. His legs buckled and his knees hit the mat, but he was just able to keep himself from face-planting altogether. After a few futile attempts to reach the point of impact on his back, Brody cut his losses and covered his head, knowing something else was coming and deciding he'd rather take another shot to the torso instead taking one to the cranium.

After a second successful blow, Legacy noticed the assault beginning to take its toll on Brody. Not scoffing, nor underestimating his opponent, Legacy would try to lift him up, grabbing his arm so as to Irish whip him to the ropes on the opposite side of the ring. However, the lack of an imminent strike did not mean he was easing up, merely delaying momentarily; on the rebound, he would aim a big boot to Brody's head!

Brody made no effort to get himself away from Legacy's attempt to drag him to his feet and send him across the ring. Sure he was wrong about Legacy taking another shot at his chest, but it was still way too early to think Brody wouldn't be able to turn an opportunity like this around.

Rebounding back towards Legacy, Brody went low and barely ducked under the boot speeding towards his head before shooting back up and grabbing at his opponent's leg, trying to use his momentum to throw Legacy off his remaining foot and down to the mat.

Legacy's boot missed the mark, and he paid the price as he was thrown to the ground by the smaller man's tactical maneuver. He landed hard on his back, tensing and twisting into a protective position instinctively as the impact shook him.

Brody kept hold of Legacy's leg as the big man went down, shifting his his grip so he could stay standing straight. After a brief moment of what looked to be genuine surprise on his part, Brody tried his hardest to get Legacy flipped onto his stomach and into a barely-competent half Boston Crab. He wasn't usually a big proponent of submissions, but hey, why not take down this tree at the roots?

Legacy was caught by surprise, not expecting a submission game to be played during this match. The half-crab locked in, Legacy immediately scrambled to try and grab the bottom rope. He could not afford to lose his legs, let alone so early in the contest, and was far too alert to sit while Brody perfected his technique.

Acting as a credit to his perennial 'do-gooder' outlook, Brody broke his hold on Legacy's leg as soon as the official called the ropebreak. Unfortunately, Legacy's surprise kick to gut was very much still in his mind and as soon as he was able, he quickly stepped to Legacy's side and hopped in the air, swinging his legs out to try and hit his opponent in the lower back with a leg drop.
