After her dealings with the strange bug mage, the fires that were being set in the town they had been frequenting, her arm bloody hurt. It seemed that all her trials had lead the young woman to just end up more sullen than ever. Tired, in pain and feeling quite...useless at the whole ordeal she cradled her wounded arm her pride feeling rather shot at the moment.
Sighing as her brother was rather shocked to find her in such a state, her hair a mess of twigs and debri, face smeared with ash, and her arm bandaged up. He was actually quite a pest and she had to snap at him several times to get off her back from all his annoying questions. The one she was looking for was Eira's brother. As he knew how to use magic she felt that he was the one she should ask to fix her arm.
The dull throb was starting to work on her patience, as her brother could attest to. Still she found herself milling about, chewing on her bottom lip as she wasn't exactly sure how to approach Makani. She wished she hadn't realized she had feelings for the blind hybrid, she'd rather just stay oblivious like her brother. And for once...she was jealous of her brother. It was perhaps the first time she ever had remote feelings for any person beyond her family and she was unsure on how to deal with it.
Sighing she wanted to slap her face to wake herself up. She was being stupid, Makani was just a person a blind person at that. But....perhaps it was his dry humor and the fact he couldn't see that made her fall for him int he first place. He didn't judge people by their looks or assets. Still...
Taking a deep breath she approached Makani at last, discovering the more she looked at the man her face was getting red. Thank goodness he was blind. "Makani...I was wondering if you could help me out..." Sin'qua started trying to sound aloof as if her wounded arm was no big deal. "You see I kinda broke my arm...and it really is a pain so if you could heal it I would really appreciate it." Trying to sound like her normally grouchy self was easy enough since she was in pain but her trailing off was not like her. If Eira saw her this way she would murder her...

Makani was on a break, having been helping out where he could, mostly with those who needed help from his magic either as a healer or as a mage. He was able to do a little of everything, though didn't really specialize in anything as of yet. A 'jack of all trades magically' or so one villager had told him. It was something that made him smile, glad that he had been able to be of help. When he was younger he had always worried that he would end up being a bit of a burden upon his family and friends, having developed magical aptitude was something that had been a blessing from Bergchi for certain. With the power he was given he was able to do a lot, as well as help out a lot, and given the state of things any and all help seemed to be welcome these days.
"Come on, Rae, I think that we should see about checking on sister and her group." It had been a little while since he'd been able to sit down with them and after the fires that had plagued the village he couldn't help but to walk to check in on them. The big, fluffy Raptrix gave a little bark before coming to walk alongside him, there in case she was needed. Reaching out Makani scratched her behind the ear, "You're such a good girl, Rae! Yes you are!" He said, giving her a hug before he suddenly gave pause, sensing someone getting closer to him, something that made him curious, wondering if it was another village in need of his aid. Standing up right he turned toward the approaching person, finding their energy to be one that was quite familiar to him, and when Sin'qua spoke up he gave a smile.
"Hello Sin'qua." He greeted her, head cocking to one side, "Mmm, you smell a bit toasty, are you alright?" Maybe she'd been helping out with putting out the fires and that was why she smelled a bit like ash? As she asked if he could help her out he nodded, "Of course, I am here to help where I can." He told her, though his smile seemed to fall and his normally fox like eyes opened wide when he told him that her arm was broken, making it sound as though it were an every day occurrence and nothing really to worry about. Eesh, talk about tough he thought to himself, Sin could put Gyuri to shame, "Yeah, I should probably look at that for you." He said, giving her a grin before he held his hands out to her, motioning for her to come closer.

Sin'qua felt taken aback, did she smell that much like smoke? The ice girl felt really stupid, of course she smelt like smoke...she had gone straight from the village to here and had gotten use to the smell she didn't even notice. Feeling stupid she ended up snapping at Makani despite herself.
"Well there are FIRES going on in Neued so i can't help but smell like smoke." The ice girl stated sharply and instantly regretted it. Why was she being so on edge? Or right...because it was him. Licking her lower lip she looked at Makani's face and felt herself advert her gaze. Why? It wasn't like he could tell she was staring at him...he was blind after all. "Sorry.." She grumbled as she moved closer to him, "My arm just really hurts.." It was a lame excuse for her biting his head off but she couldn't really ...well think beyond the fact she was interacting with him and feeling very self conscious.
Moving as close as she dared she looked to Rae his faithful pet and felt a bit jealous. Now that was sad...being jealous of an animal? Pouting she offered him her arm and swore as she did so. Why was she being so ...stupid?? "Sorry...its been in this make shift sling so long I forgot I can't move it..."

Makani couldn't help but to give a bit of a laugh as Sin said that they were were fires going on so she couldn't help smelling like smoke, "So you were helping put them out? That's kind of you, Sin'qua." He said, giving her a smile before giving a little chuckle when she was suddenly saying that she was sorry, that her arm just hurt. It wasn't often that Sin'qua apologized so she must really be in pain he thought to himself before he waited for her to come closer, "I will see about doing what I can to make your arm feel better then, I don't want you to be in pain any longer then you have to be." He told her, his voice reassuring.
As he came in closer he reached a hand out to her, letting it hover for a moment over her arm, before he nodded, "I think that it would be best if we sat down so that I can tend to your arm easier. We will need to take it out of the sling so that I can get to the wound with my magic." He explained to Sin'qua, then said, "How did you hurt your arm? While you were dealing with the fires?" He asked of the Ice Tribeswoman as he moved to shrugged out of the cloak that he was wearing, spreading it out on the ground, before he sat down on it, "Come, sit with me Sin'qua, and we can see to that arm of yours." He said, patting the area before him before he set to gathering power to him. He would need a good amount of magical energy to heal a broken arm.

Being given a compliment by Makani didn't help matters, she felt the head rise to her cheeks and a lump form in her throat.
"Hardly. All I did was show a couple people where some others were trapped. Its not like I have magic to help me like you do...or strength like Gyuri does..." She muttered sounding quite put out and annoyed with herself. She went to follow his advice, and went to sit down so he could take a better look at her arm. Removing it from the sling was enough to make her curse and swear under her breath, the muscle had already become black in area's showing how bad the trauma really was.
"I..I don't know how bad it is...I can still move my fingers with a bit of pain and clench my hand...but straightening it...it really hurts." She trailed off feeling that sitting so close to him was dangerous. The young woman could feel his body heat it it only made her heart pound in her head. When he asked about how she broke it she ran through the events in her head before finally replying.
"No...actually....I was running away from something in the forest....I tripped and landed awkwardly." She wasn't sure how much detail she should go into, for she still wasn't quite sure what it was that had gone after her.

Makani gave a thoughtful sound as Sin'qua seemed to balk at the idea that she had helped anyone, instead seeming as though she were trying to make it seem as though she hadn't done anything at all. It really made him wonder why she seemed to want to deny helping instead of taking credit but decided against asking. She probably had her reasons for feeling that she hadn't done enough and a moment later she told him. Did she not feel like she was good enough because she lacked what he and Gyuri could do? Giving her a smile he said, "I am sure that you will figure out what it is that you excel at with time, Sin'qua." He hoped to reassure her that she would figure it out, he believed in her that she would after all, before he then added, "It took me some time before I was able to figure it out myself. There is no reason to rush it."
He turned his attention then to her wound when she spoke of how she could move her fingers and clench her hand but it seemed to pain her, straightening her arm hurt it as well, more so then just moving her fingers and hand, "It will be alright, don't do anything that will hurt you any more then you already are." He didn't want her to strain herself after all, not when she was already in enough pain as it was. Reaching his hands out he let them hover on either side of her arm, allowing his magic to swirl around her arm, getting a feel for what it was that he was dealing with, then gave a thoughtful sound, "Mmmm, let's see... it is broken, thought not a bad break, it's one that I can help you with easily enough. First off I will need some water."
Turning his head he called out, "Rae! My water skin, please." The big Raptrix got to her feet, moving to put her head into his pack, rooting around in it for a moment, then carried the water skin to her boy, placing it on his outstretched hand, not releasing it until he'd closed his fingers around it, "Good girl, thank you Rae. I don't know what I would do without you." He said, opening the end of it up, then used his magic to draw the water out and into the air, "This helps, it cools the wound and helps to sooth it." He explained before he wrapped the water around his hands, then laid his hands lightly on her wound. The water started to flow around her arm in a soothing manner, keeping it cool, while a secondary magic, that being his healing magic, worked on stitching together the damage in a slow and steady manner, "This will feel a bit weird, try to bare with me though."

Sin'qua watched as Makani worked, her face still faintly red from her earlier embarrassment she was thankful that he could see her face. Still her head was tipped down so that if others happened upon them they wouldn't be able to see it either. Chewing on her lower lip as he worked his magic water around her arm, feeling jealous of a raptrix and he declared he didn't know what he would do without her.
"You know ..if you need help with anything I ..could help you." She began slowly unsure of what exactly she was trying to say, " I mean...you can't rely on your raptrix forever eventually she will get too old to help you." She continued sounding rather too practical.
Well that was harsh. Way to go Sin'qua, a great way to get a guy to like you. Mention that their pet will die eventually. Sure do know how to turn on the charm.
Sin'qua fell into an awkward silence after she spoke this, using the excuse of the magic mending her arm to keep her lips together. Why would a guy like her anyway? She was cruel, mean spirited and lazy.
"...how did you learn how to use magic?" The girl finally managed to ask, rather than apologize for her earlier comments, she seemed to think pushing forward in the conversation was a better tactic.

Makani gave momentary pause in what he was doing, then said, "You don't have to worry about helping me, Sin'qua, you're the injured one here, remember?" He didn't want her to think that he was going to have her fetching and carrying for him just because he was helping her out, "As my patient it's your job to rest and get better." He was sure that she didn't really mean what she said, talking about Rae getting old and dying on him, she was just in pain and probably wasn't thinking straight. It was something that had him reaching out with one hand to pat Rae on the head, to reassure himself that the Raptrix was still there beside him. He wasn't sure what he'd do if something happened to her.
Shaking his head he turned his attention back to the healing process, wanting to concentrate on her wound instead of on her words, "How are you feeling? Not too much pain I hope?" The healing process would likely feel weird but he hoped that it wasn't something that would hurt too much. He couldn't really compare this to what he'd dealt with so far while healing war victims since their injuries had been more extensive, not to mention more numerous. They were already in pain, a lot of it, and his healing had aided them in easing that pain. When it came to a healthy person with one injury he wasn't as certain about things.
"Hm? How? It was partly luck really. It was a power I started to develop when I was younger, something that helped me to see though in a different way then I assume everyone else does." He explained, giving a smile when he could feel the bones in her arm as they knitted together under his hands, "From there I met with an older mage, one who had a lot of power and a lot of books, that latter of which he shared with me. Eira and my father read them to me, well the start of them at least, and helped me with getting a better grasp on using magic for more then just getting around. A shame this war had to creep up and get in the way of that, I'd really like to see what is in some of the later chapters... ah, so to speak."

The young woman noticed how he ignored her comment about his pet dying on him, she was thankful for that for she felt terrible mentioning it but it was her nature to be ...perhaps a bit too practical. Still she kept her mouth clamped shut, due to the pain even if it was being healed and her inability to say something nice.
Sin'qua was happy to have Makani speak about his magic, it was interesting to hear him talk about it in such a way. So..he could see but not like normal people. Did that mean he could sense her unease? About to ask, she felt a sharp pain in her arm and she hissed from the pain. But soon the bone was mended and the pain receded.
Once it was better she pulled her arm away, perhaps a bit too roughly but she couldn't stand having him touch her anymore. She felt as if her face would melt off with how red it was.
"So...it was just an innate ability?" She managed wondering if perhaps she just didn't have that sort of skill..."Do you think you could...teach me how to use it?"

Feeling Sin yank her arm away he took that as a sign that she was feeling better and was done with being healed. He let the water float off to the side, to let it fall to the ground, before he turned his attention back to her, "I take it that you are feeling better? Now, I want you to rest up and commit to not helping anyone for a while, that way you won't get hurt again." He said jokingly. It was kind of cute that she had gone out of her way to help people out, something she didn't do a lot that he'd seen, only for her to get hurt. He only hoped that it wouldn't cause her to avoid helping again in the future.
"An innate ability? Yes, perhaps it was a blessing from Bergchi, to aid me given the trial of being blind? At least that is what I feel, it's not as though magic is something that runs strong in my family, at least not on my father's side. He is a hunter and Eira is a dancer, neither of them have a drop of magical talent. Perhaps I got it from my mother's side." It had been some time since he'd met with his mother's family, they would be some he'd like to sit down with to chat with someday he thought to himself.
Tilting his head to the side at her question he seemed to think about it, then nodded, "I could try, it would be best for me to get my books. They are with the rest of my things back in the room where the rest of the troupe left their things for safe keeping." He explained, pushing to his feet, offering her a hand to help her up.

The woman's mood was quick to sour, as was the nature of Sin'qua, glowering at the blind man as he joked about her not helping people so she wouldn't get hurt. Part of her wanted to slap him up side the head, the other laugh with him. Boy this was a confusing mix of emotions.
"I'll make sure to remember that..." She managed to say between her teeth as she went about flexing her arm and mildly marveling and how it now longer hurt. Listening as he went on making it sound like you had to be blessed by the goddess if you wanted to use magic. Sighing she figured, since neither her mother, brother or father used magic...there was little likeliness she could do it.
But as he continued to speak, mentioning the books he had, her hopes lifted a bit. Perhaps she could learn, she could read and this would give her some more time with the man. Blushing slightly as he got up and offered her a hand she stared at it for a long moment before pushing it aside.
"I can get up myself." She grumbled, wondering just WHY she did something so ...stupid. Didn't she want him to hold her hand? Cursing herself after she got up she felt that she was in a worse mode than ever. "So lets go get those books then.."

Makani gave a little nod, drawing his hand back, "If you are certain then I will leave you to it." Sin'qua was quite the strong sort, wasn't she? Best that he didn't try to force his help upon her anymore then he already had lest she get as annoyed with him as she did with Eira at least. Unlike his sister though he both knew when to back off and not to call her 'Sinny'. Best to tread carefully, to keep her mood at least somewhat amiable he decided.
"Sure, it's not too far from where our things are being safely kept, we can go and get the books and you can look them over." He offered, then asked in a curious manner, "Are you thinking more offensive magic? Or might you want to learn to heal as well?" He wondered if she would have the patience for healing... or would she rather just use elemental magic to blow her enemies aside? He'd guess the latter but he didn't want to assume anything, as such it was best that he ask her out right so that he knew which books to get out of his pack for her.
With a smile on his lips he set to leading the way, seeming as though he weren't too terribly hindered by his lack of eye sight. It was something that he had grown up with and something that his magic helped to compensate with, as such he look comfortable enough as he led the way toward the house where there things awaited them.

Sin'qua marveled at how Makani could move about, this magic 'sight' of his must be very useful, she wondered if she would be able to do something similar if she trained hard enough. Not that it would be particularly useful ..perhaps in the dark? Maybe? "Where did you get these books from?" She managed after an awkward pause, "How do you read them anyway? I mean you are blind." The woman was tactless and she felt herself want to strangle herself after she said the words. What was she trying to embarrass herself? Lingering a bit at his side she swallowed and then picked up her pacing so she was slightly ahead of him...as if she was the one who knew where the books were. Her face was beat red and she wanted to die right about now. " Ah..I mean...you know...does someone read them to you?" She continued as tried to fix the rather awkward situation.

"It was some time ago, when we were still in Zena. There was a caravan that came by, one that had a mage with them, and I went to chat with him." He explained, "There is nobody in my family who has any magical talent, nor my friends to that point, so I needed to seek an outside source for help when it came to such things." It had been a bit of an ordeal getting to the man, not to mention convincing him, but it had been worth it. Especially given the books that he'd been given, they helped him out a lot and prepared him for... well, everything he'd faced up to this point. At Sin'qua's next comment Makani's mouth fell open and a little he went for a moment silent, then started to laugh, "Why yes, yes I am. Good eyes you have there, Sin'qua." He said in a teasing manner, finding it kind of funny the way that she seemed to just blurt out whatever came to mind first, "You'd actually be surprised how many people seem to miss it. Especially now that I am able to use my magic to help me get around." He couldn't really complain or be upset with her, not when she wasn't so much being rude as stating the glaringly obvious though. What was that title he'd used before, 'Captain Obvious' if he recalled right, a title for Sin'qua for certain he decided Captain Sin'qua Obvious, at his service. Moving to follow along after her as she seemed to quicken her pace he spoke up once more so that he could explain, "I got Eira to read the books to me. The stuff within them didn't really mean all that much to her, she isn't magically inclined, but it helped me a lot with learning the basics. After that it was just a lot of hard work and practice."

Oh goodness he was going to hate her, she was utterly convinced of this fact as she continued to walk. Glowering at anyone who gave them a second glance. Though she found it interesting how he got the books she was perhaps a bit startled to find him laughing after her rather rude comment. Her face going a deeper shade of sun making her skin almost look purple on her cheeks.
"Ah...yeah I guess your right...." She managed after a moment not sure how to read Makani at this moment. Though she almost tripped over her two feet when he mentioned that it was his sister who read the books to him. WHAT? She stopped suddenly turning around looking at Makani though her look of outrage would be missed on him.
"Eira? You...you got her to read to you??" Shaking her head vigorously she leaned forward and took ahold of Makani's hand without thinking and yanked him forward. "NO no no! I will read them to you again, I am sure with two people who are actually interested in magic you can expand on what you know and I can learn how to do it." She insisted almost in an angry tone. Eira? REALLY? How much did she skim? She couldn't imagine the woman reading a book on magic and actually being thorough about it. She had to correct this grievous mistake.
