As Nisha emerged from her room, Piper's eyes were all adoration. She fell to silence as her lover twirled for her, following the folds and intricate details until it all blurred together in a hypnotic whirl of color.
"You're a goddess," she said with all the awe and sincerity of someone that truly believed it. Next to Nisha she could have felt small and normal, but Nisha was a flower as surely as the one the blunette had pinned to her hair and Piper was the sun, beaming bright and warm on something she loved. The daffodil she'd chosen was echoed down in the overlapped layers of her wispy sundress, the soft yellows and oranges in the pattern complimenting the gold details of Nisha's sari and her own dark skin.
Time had been kind to the forgotten child of Barren Pines. Even with the city nearly unrecognizable she was finally at peace, safe and comforted in Nisha's strong presence.
With grace in her slippered step, Piper tip-toed forward and pressed one lingering kiss on Nisha's cheek. Though not always the most observant, she was careful in that moment not to ruin any of her girlfriend's hard work. As she stepped away, the light folds of her own dress swirled around her knees and she paused to watch until they settled back to stillness. Piper still found wonder in the simplest of things and it was probably the only reason she kept such an upbeat attitude in what was otherwise a cruel world.
"Let's go before we miss the sunset," she chimed all at once, remembering herself. She glanced at Nisha over her shoulder on the way to their front door, smiling in that impish way that only dreamers ever managed.
