Lyonesse was well aware that he really, really needed to start patrolling with partners. Being solitary was getting him nowhere, and now he was at the outskirts of Destiny City, a sitting duck with a Knight aura. Worse, he could feel the approach of a General-Sovereign - and if he were to admit to a fear, his worst would be recorruption. Being hauled back to the Negaverse against his will.
Maybe if he was lucky, it would be Bischofite, who he was pretty sure would just kill him and be done with it.
He sighed, and waited, because he knew exactly how stupid running form someone who could teleport was.

Running from someone who could teleport was far from smart, in fact it might upset some people and earn a drawn out death. Others would make it quick, if you were lucky. The knight was lucky in that the General king who had picked up his signature was one who internally wasn't the most loyal, though he was just as vicious as most were.
He'd picked up on the signature during a normal patrol and had teleported close to the signature before closing in on foot. He didn't run, they weren't, and he didn't move across the roof tops either. Now as he drew closer he could make out a figure, no details yet, but he saw and sensed only one knight and he felt a smirk tugging at his lips. "Well, well...a lone knight. Tell me, what are you doing out here all by your lonesome?" He questioned, a certain purring note having entered his voice.
"It's not safe for knights to be out alone. You should know that." What he didn't know was that they knew this more than most.

Lyonesse exhaled heavily. No, no such luck, that was definitely not Bischofite - the lack of heavy Germanic accent made that obvious enough. But he recognized the voice either way, and the Earth Knight moved closer to the General-King, until they were close enough to get a decent look at each other.
"Making bad decisions, apparently," he said, and there was no glamour to disguise his face or his voice. He might have a new outfit and a new weapon, but he was still well and recognizable as General Natron. "Though not too bad, since you haven't stabbed me yet."
He really did not want to meet the business end of Benitoite's spear, bluster aside.

"Indeed, it would seem like you are indeed making bad decisions...not the first I'm sure. Perhaps the first was becoming a Knight." The words were even more true, as he discovered, when he saw just which Knight he had the pleasure of running into this evening.
It did take a moment to realize just who he was looking at and he shook his head, even though he did look the Earth Knight over. "And you assume I won't by nights end?" he questioned while he brought his slate eyes back to the others face. "Natron...it's been awhile. I'd heard you changed sides but didn't think it true. "We were once friends...tell me, why did you join the other side?" he questioned as he kept himself without weapon and his tone calm. he wanted to know first...then he'd decide what to do.
"I thought we were friends...do tell me we are still close enough that you will enlighten me as to your departure from our side." Even though he asked, even though he smiled gently, there was a tone to his voice which left no room to do anything but answer him. He wasn't asking he was demanding an answer, even though he was genuinely curious.

"I did say yet," Lyonesse said, and there was a light and slightly sarcastic edge to his voice. Benitoite wasn't jumping to attack him - that was good, that was a step in the direction of not getting impaled. "And it's Lyonesse, now." There was a little less humor and a little more sharpness in the correction. Going by his Negaverse alias made his skin crawl, now that he knew the name he was supposed to have. It felt like a betrayal of everything he had become.
A slight breath of annoyance left him as Benitoite probed him for answers. Why did everyone ask why? Wasn't it obvious enough?
"I had plenty of friends in the Negaverse, and I counted you among them - but friends or not, did you miss the evil empire thing? And don't try the benvolent-dictatorship-protecting-the-planet-from-invasion bullshit with me, I'm certainly no invader. My Wonder's off the coast of England. I've been there. It's nice." He exhaled. "And it's not Order lining people up to suck out their energy, murdering whole families, or making people disappear. That's all you."

"Yes, Lyonesse...whatever." Rolling his eyes he let the other continue on speaking. He could still remember hearing the other talk of aliens and space invadors, it had been somewhat annoying but also endearing in a way. it made him like the others presence.
Sighing finally he took quick, short, steps toward the other and grabbed him by the arm. "I could honestly careless what name you use. Just answer me this before I answer everything you've said. Do you consider me the enemy or a friend still. And think hard about your answer and if you want me to answer everything you've just said." He spoke, slate eyes staring up at the others eyes. A certain amount of seriousness in his eyes, in his voice, that was far more than his usual. it wasn't the deadly serious which was normal. It was the same level of seriousness but it lacked the danger and anger that normally came with the look.
"Tell me where I stand with you. Am I still a friend and do you trust me?"

Lyonesse bristled at the dismissal of his correction, but decided that now was not the time to push a General-King on the seriousness of the change in name. Thinking too hard about some of the awful things he'd done when he was still Natron made him want to throw up.
Benitoite's question struck something in him. Did he trust any of his former Negaverse friends? He knew what the answer should be. No - not because he didn't still care about him, but because he was a traitor to a ruthless, murderous organization, full of people determined to see him dead or dragged back to Chaos.
He couldn't afford to trust people still in it.
He had never been good at doing what he should.
"I want to trust you," Lyonesse admitted. "I shouldn't, for a list of reasons longer than that pretty pointy spear of yours, but I really, really want to."

Using the hold he had on the others arm he yanked the taller male to himself. His free arm wrapping about him. "Good, then I'm teleporting us somewhere else." Someplace safe. He didn't need the other fighting him while he did this. He didn't want to think what would happen if the other got free just as he was teleporting. Would it leave him here, somewhere between, or what? He didn't know and didn't want to know either.
"Trust me then for right now, for tonight. Just keep anything I say to you to yourself. If a single word passes your lips it risks my life and I care not to die - I rather like living." Not to mention how he'd be killed. he wouldn't be just a traitor but a General King who was a traitor. He'd have the worst death imaginable...he was sure of it.

Lyonesse tensed up when Benitoite wrapped an arm around him. Close contact with a General-King seemed like an absolutely terrible idea. "Fine, alright, let's go."
"Who am I going to tell?" He asked, somewhat bitterly. But even if he could, there would be no benefit in selling Benitoite out. He didn't want back into the Negaverse, and he didn't think the General-King would accept purification, so telling the Resistance was pointless too. "Nothing that gets said tonight goes beyond the two of us."

"You could sell me out, for your own safety I'm sure." He spoke in a low voice. he wasn't arrogant about this, he simply knew he was high ranked and finding out he was a traitor would gain the other something big. He would likely get some reward for turning in someone of his rank - General King.
Pushing the ideas to the back of his mind he focused on where he wanted to bring the other, and go himself. The focus was one of the taller buildings in the city, high up, above the city. When they did appear there he released the other and stepped back from him, watching him carefully.
"I did not miss the evil empire thing. I have been watching it the whole while. I do not approve, it's not why I joined the Negaverse. I joined to protect my own freedom and soon it did extend to protecting other peoples freedom. This is not freedom...this is 1984 and I'm waiting for the Hunger Games to start." He stated with a twisted smile. he was joking about the Hunger games thing and yet he wouldn't be shocked if it happened, or something similar. "This is not what I killed and bled for." Shaking his head as he turned his back on the other, showing a great amount of trust in the knight.
"I have been passing limited information off to a knight. People we are interested in, people they want to corrupt, kill, or pull in for questioning. I can't tell them of everyone, a leak would be suspected. I can't blow my cover or I can no longer help." There was no way to help when you were dead, or in isolation being tortured. "So you see, you could easily gain much if you turned me over. A traitor with the power I have...they'd love it." He spoke, a bitterness entering his voice, his lips twisting into something of a displeased look. "I have taken great care to keep my true feelings hidden, which is not easy."

Lyonesse shook his head firmly. He had no intention to turn anyone in - because he had no intention of ever bartering for his own safety. If he was captured, he would go down fighting, and hopefully die. There would be no recorruption for him. He would never be a tool for Chaos again.
Teleportation was strangely dizzying - it had been long enough that he was no longer properly accustomed to being whisked across space to a whole 'nother location.
Benitoite's explanation made him frown and cross his arms, at first. He couldn't understand how you could see everything wrong with what the Negaverse was doing and still stay, still serve their twisted goals - goals so far from what he had signed on for.
Except, well, there was one reason, and he stared in open, abject shock. "Jesus," he said softly, wonder in his voice. "You've got to be the best source we have." Yes, the Negaverse would love to root out a traitor on Benitoite's level - but to Lyonesse, it was a revelation, and proof that he could trust the General-King.

"Indeed. Could you imagine what they would do to me if they found out? A General King a traitor and feeding information to the other side? I think a fast death would be far from what I'd receive. I could only hope for it. I figure I'd be in for torture and possible death, whether it would be due to not being able to handle the torture or them finally showing some mercy. I cannot risk suspicion, I already risk it enough and have been questioned on actions I have taken and continue to take. A senshi is under my protection. No one will corrupt nor harm her...unless they wish to cross weapons with me - and I'll show no mercy." He was still ruthless when he wanted to be, that much was clear by his voice.
"I've been called into question a few times about my methods, reasoning, and other such things. But they don't suspect me of being a traitor, although I'm not really the traitor here am I? They are, they have betray the people - I have not."
Turning to look at the other he found himself managing a smile. "Not the best, I could be better, but to give more information would revel a leak and I cannot do that. If they don't know they have a leak it's for the best - for everyone. I'm safest then and if I'm safe I can still pass information." He had a cover to keep, a reputation to maintain, and he would do anything to keep it intact and protected. If someone on his side figured it out, or even started snooping about, he would kill them without care. One life for the many. If he was willing, and had always been willing, to give his life for the many than so should someone else - right?
"I join city hall, giving up college and my normal job, in order to get in close to information but also to help with laws that help the civilians. A little relief from all this evil, a little good within all the darkness. I am fighting a war from within the shadows." He played a part in this war that if it was ever won, by the senshi and knights, would be little to unknown about. Who would live through the war who would know of his role? No, he couldn't have people know even then. Members from his side who survived if they found out, and were loyal, could hunt him down and attempt to kill him. It was best to work as alone as he did a, and he still took risks and had too many people know really. He should be working even more alone, more in the shadows, but he was human and needed contact and he needed to voice his thoughts, opinions, and give voice to his feelings. He had always been a bit too human perhaps...a bit too emotional and caring. But look where he was in rank and his position in this war.
"A source of information that is almost unknown to your side. Even when it's all over I'll keep to the shadows." Once the sort who would want recognition for his achievements he didn't want them now, not when all was said and done. Not just for his safety but he didn't want the attention. He wanted the peace and ability to relax after the game he played finally came to an end.

Lyonesse shook his head slowly in wonderment. It was genuinely amazing to him, all around. When he had realized he couldn't tolerate what was going on in the Negaverse anymore, he'd fled - and now that felt like a stupid, cowardly decision, even though he would rather die than undo it.
"I wish I had your courage," he confessed. "But I never had it in me to do that - I'm not a schemer or a planner, I wasn't clever enough to do that, so instead, here I am." He gestured down at his uniform. "On the upside," and his tone suddenly became thoroughly sarcastic, "I have an island. Near Cornwall."
Because in the end, that was what he had traded everything for. A cleverer man would have done what Benitoite did, undermined from within and been something approaching useful. Instead he had defected, purified, traded everything for a staff and a new uniform and an island off the coast of Cornwall.
"What do you intend to do, if this does go our way? I...am not sure many on my side would be willing to leave a General-King alive and uncorrupted."

He had never been like Bischofite, who was good with plots and plans. he was someone who did things in a big, public, manner. The blond had liked to be calmer, quieter. He wasn't quick to temper and he wasn't loud about things, at least most of the time. He had been loyal to the Negaverse and it's higher ups but that had changed, when everything went all 1984. He continued to smile and be friendly but he was less open, less free with his words and friendship, and knew most would attribute it to his gaining in rank and all the work he had taken onto his shoulders. Really he had put to use his calm and quite manner and set about working in the background as he once had with the tea shop, and other plots, he'd run. He had never done things big and explosive like some did. Thus far it was paying off; he just hoped it continued.
"Courage...perhaps. But it's also a risk and I can understand not doing as I am. If I'm caught...If you had walked this path and been caught." here he shook his head and turned his eyes toward the other. "I wouldn't say you lack courage. Perhaps you're even smarter in a sense. You're not taking the risk I am." He was avoiding the risk of torture and death, maybe death. He could call it being smart, he really could, he wasn't sure he called what he was doing being courageous. He wasn't sure what he would call it aside from setting things right.
"An Island isn't such a bad thing. Land is something that there is only a certain amount of - something in demand and needed. To have a lot to yourself isn't such a bad thing." Shrugging his shoulders he tilted his head just a bit. He had once wondered what planet he had once been a knight to, what he could claim as his own, but the days of such thoughts were long gone. Gone and replaced with thoughts of how to keep alive, how to keep a step or two ahead of others who lived to plot, scheme, and the like. He had tried to put together a plan, and other things, in case he was ever caught in order to keep his partner safe and their dogs. His parents were already safe as were his aunts, uncles and even his cousins. He couldn't permit the dark hand of the Negaverse to touch his family, even if he was caught and never seen nor heard from again. He had to continue to protect them even if he was dead or locked away somewhere deep within the Rift. He certainly had been and was a busy person.
Turning fully to face the other he let himself relax for the moment as his knees gave out from under him. Allowing himself to gracefully fall into a sitting position he stared up at the other calmly. "If this goes the way of your kind I will join the fight - on your side. All I can do is hope that your side realizes this and doesn't try and kill me whilst I try and help. If your side wins and I remain alive I will go into hiding if I must. I will not relinquish the power or title I hold. I earned them and that point I'll say I've earned them more than anyone else. I won't give them up because why should those dictate who and what I am. My actions should speak louder and if people cannot see that than I will keep my identity a secret. No one will put together that Alexandre Evans and General King Benitoite are one in the same." He would hide his secret more than he ever had. He would live with only a select few knowing and deal with whatever mental and emotional issues he'd face with the few people around him and not seek fame, attention, thanks, or anything else for the deeds he'd surely do in such a battle.
"I'm sure by then the sort of vacation will be nice anyway. Perhaps a trip to Europe would do me and my partner some good." Into that battle, if and when it happened, he would have a General at his side. Loyal and devoted he knew the General would be and he hoped they would both make it to see the end of the battle - to relax finally.
"What will you do if and when this battle ends - if it's in your favor?"
