General Merlinite felt like the big boy on campus, though he knew his power and rank was still not where it needed to be for him to be really renowned. At least now he had a rank and a duty to call his own, and he was the head of his own little organization inside the Negaverse. He took pride in his work as a police enforcer both inside and outside the Negaverse, and he had no problems turning in his own compatriots if he found them doing something detrimental to the Negaverse itself, like fraternizing with enemies or supplying the White Moon or Dark Mirror senshi with help of any kind.

Anyone not doing their work the way they were meant to, he would find them.

So he walked around feeling tough and strong, and he held himself up high with his pride. He always had his weapon with him, a heavy sword now, and he made sure everyone knew he was not afraid to use it if he saw anyone, Negaverse, Senshi or Civilian, not following the rules.

He was in a good mood, patrolling around the city, looking for any Senshi energy sources and aiming to keep the riff raff out of his goddamn city.

Mintaka on the other side, was not feeling too well. The new curfew severely dampened her ability to smuggle people out of the town and to a safe neutral zone she funded. She kept her ear close to the ground, finding chinks in the negaverses strict regulations without causing too much of a stir for them to notice.

At least that's what she thought. Curfew and roll calls. They would know soon that people were being smuggled out. Whether they were Dark mirror court, Moon white court or negaverse.

A familiar ping of chaos energy hit the the eternal senshi's radar, and she carefully hid herself until she identified it. When she did, a small smile played on her features and she dropped in front of the negaverser with a light step.

"Merlinite." She stood a good distance away, should the negaverser find their odd friendship at it's end. "Patrolling for curfew tonight?"

Merlinite was eager when he felt the energy signature of a White Moon something or other nearby. He grinned ear to ear and let it get closer, realizing it was coming his way rather than moving away from it. He laughed to himself and clapped his hands together, then moved one hand to the sword at his side.

When the senshi appeared in front of him, though, dropping down from above, he paused in what should have been an immediate attack.

"Mintaka," he said, blinking for a moment. He was very surprised about how long it had been since he saw her, though he knew he should not be. They had driven the senshi into hiding, after all. He should have been more surprised about seeing her now, here in the city, in the center of all the danger.

"You shouldn't be out here, you can get yourself killed. What are you thinking?" he grumped, shaking his head. It wasn't protocol: he should have attacked her, subdued her. Taken her back for interrogation or corruption. He should not be talking to her, let alone warning her to go away.

She very much knew the dangers of moving inside the city, especially since her aura was much larger as a Eternal and easier to announce to others where she was.

And always, she relied heavily on the bonds of friendship with Merlinite to keep her safe. Even as she grew older, she still had that mentality that words could solve all problems.

She adjusted her gloves, eyes widening before a polite smile dance on her lips.

"I was escorting someone out of the city." She hesitated, "Someone who doesn't want to fight anyone and wants a peaceful life even in their powered form." She relaxed as the heavy sword dropped, inching a bit closer. "How have you been Merlinite? I hope your work isn't giving you too much trouble?" Genuine concern laced the question.

"Work doesn't give me any trouble. I'm the one giving trouble, and I'm supposed to give you some, just for being here! I'm a cop, you know. And that means a lot now. You shouldn't have told me what you're doing. I shouldn't have asked. I don't want to know anything, alright?"

If he did not know, he would not be in trouble for it, right? And he wouldn't be able to sell her out, if questioned about it.

Why he was thinking that way, though, was beyond him. He was not supposed to be the guy with friends on the other side, he was the guy that stopped that. If anyone found out about the apparent double standard, he would have it worse than most of the Senshi and Knights they got a hold of did.

"You... been doing alright?" He heard himself ask, and he sighed as he did so, shaking his head. Despite being a General now, and the city being theirs, the Negaverse soldier had somehow gotten softer. Go figure.

She actually laughed a little at his seriousness. Even laughing a little more at his brushing her activites aside. Thank goodness. THANK GOODNESS. This is why she continued her struggle to keep her neutrality, to keep people from fighting when there was no need.

"I'm sorry, forgive me Merlinite." She wiped an imaginary tear away, folding her hands together. "I'm sorry officer, I know its past curfew, but I was hoping you wouldn't mind pretending you just never saw me. Right you never saw me?" She teased.

His worry wasn't loss on her though. Like Aurostibite, just talking to her would get Merlinite a punishment far worse then she would receive. At least that's how she viewed it. Unlike Aurostibite, Mintaka could walk away and keep him from that pain. Keep him safe.

But he was one of the few she considered a friend. And she was forever selfish to hold that ideal that if he could befriend her, perhaps one day, one day he would tire of his job and he'd settle down. She could forever hope.

"I'm alright." She nodded, "A little tough to move around now in the shadows with the upped bounties and curfew, but I make do." She hesitated, "I'll be graduating college after next semester. Nothing special though, just my bachelors in history! That should allow me a small teaching job." She didn't mind talking civilian life instead of powered. The less he knew about what she did at night, the less he could be questioned on if he ever was.

Merlinite frowned at her. Here he was, putting himself on the line, trying to warn her and be nice, which was very counter to his usual personality, and she was laughing at him! That was the way she paid him back for his concern, but he realized he was not actually mad at her for it. It made it easier, some how, to worry, because he supposed he knew she was tough enough to keep herself from getting caught.

One had to be confident to go about, doing what she was doing, the way they were running the place right now.

"I never saw anything tonight. It was boring. Sucks when all the senshi play by the rules." He shrugged his shoulders and watched her, then a smirk escaped and he shook his head.

He listened to her and nodded his head, fingers tapping on his sword nervously.

"Well, I mean. I hope it works out for you. Though I've heard History degrees are useless. But hey, not everyone can be a cop." He winked theatrically, relaxing a bit now. "I do hope that you stay safe alright. Don't, I mean... don't worry too much about other folks nowadays. That's just my advice."

Mostly tough enough, or perhaps cautious enough to keep herself from being caught. She tried to stop the smile from widening but it was hard, and just showed the fondness for Merlinite in her own way.

"I agree, Thank goodness for the curfews and police officers. Senshi are very unfortunate that such a well placed justice system is around!" She meant it sincerely at Merlinite, but not sincerely for the senshi. One more obstacle for her to face besides the senshi hunters (Civilians who seeked them out for rewards).

"I would be a terrible police officer, no abidding by the laws, too nice for my own good, I would be terrible trying to get someone into a car. Please put the handcuffs on sir, no okay, you don't have to but please get in the car, oh don't run away." She mimicked out her actions for him to see, "Please, I want this to go as peacefully as possible crime doer!"

She let her hand fall and looked over at him sadly. "I will die helping others before I think of selfishly myself." She had accepted it long ago. One day, she would die. And it would be because of someone else she was saving and not herself.

Merlinite rolled his eyes, but he grinned at her and held up his hands in a fake gesture of modesty. Whatever the case, he was damn good at his job, except for right now maybe. He did what he could to make sure things were running smoothly and people were following the rules. And he took a great amount of joy out of the whole process.

She might not see it as a fair system, but for him, justice really was being done, and right. It was just what he had always wanted, as if the world was molding around him, the way he saw it in his dreams. He was getting the chance to be everything he used to dream about, and on top of all that, he was part of a team that ruled the goddamn place.

That was awesome.

"Well that's something we can agree on. You are too nice for your own good. You chat up any other Nega like this and you'll lose your head, or worse. You'll need a partner to keep you safe. That's how cops work, anyway. And maybe your calling is more... undercover work. So if you want to keep on this 'noble' streak of helping others before you help yourself... then I guess I'll have to be your much more intelligent partner on the inside."

He kept his face expressionless, just in case he betrayed something on it that he was not willing to admit to. He was offering to help a goddamn senshi, and without any prompting at that. He had never thought about it before that moment, and the words just sort of fell out. What the hell was he thinking?
PostPosted: Wed Aug 06, 2014 6:51 pm

"I've been doing a fair amount of avoiding most of the Negaverse for fear that I might be shot on sight, if you catch my drift." She sighed, "I use to have some allies in there, but times have changed and so has the shifts in power. Sometimes that power goes to people's minds."

She blinked though because his..his idea sounded very much like he wanted to help her. Merlinite always had a soft spot in her heart as one of the few Nega's she liked to talk to, but there was always a wary distance with him. Like her friends before, she had continuous hope that he would not turn on her.

"Noble." She chuckled and inched closer to him. "Well, that would be really helpful. I just...probably need to know negaversers to avoid and locations they usually lay traps?" She hesitated, "But Merlinite, I don't want to drag you into something with me. You could be punished." She had heard of some the negaversers that got far worse punishment for helping anyone not of chaos.

It was the same fear that kept Aurostibite and herself from being openly in love with each other. why they had secret meetings once every few weeks. Why she never included him on her 'noble' missions of smuggling out people.

"I..I can't ask something like that from you, even if I want too. I don't want you to get hurt." She inched back slowly. "You have a good setup don't you? Don't let me ruin it for you." She sighed, "Don't let me as a senshi ruin this for you and cause you to hate me. It'll haunt us both in the afterlives."

Merlinite was not sure what he was doing, but he could not really help himself. Despite the time that passed between the last time he saw her and now, he still wanted to keep her around. He thought she was a good friend, and she humored him before, whenever he bragged about his accomplishments.

"I'm not looking to get dragged into anything, either. I'm not going to betray my team to you or anything. But if you're not one of the senshi we end up catching or killing, then that's fine, right? I just want to, you know. Make sure you stay... mostly alright."

And herself. He didn't say it, but he did not really want to see her get corrupted, either. He knew what it did to them, and he was not sure it was what he wanted for someone who was mostly his friend. He was bad with friends, but he would at least do what he could to keep her alive, if he was given the chance.

That seemed fair.

"I'm not saying I'm going to go out of my way to rush out here and fight your battles for you. But, you know. If I know something is going down, I'll give you a heads up. I'll keep my eyes open, and you just do what you do. Nothing complicated. No one'll ever know, since no on will know you're here, right?"

She laughed a little again, though it was a bit sadder. "You're as stubborn as I am." She ran a hand through the long white curls and closed her eyes. Like Aurostibite, Merlinite would be an assest in allowing her moving a bit more freer. A bit more quieter in the night. She didn't always henshin up, so him being able to help her would rely more on her civilian duty.

For a brief moment, she had a small nightmare play in her mind. She gave her civilian information, found out she was dating Magiore, Aurostibites civilian name, both of them caught and that was...

She hated having to question everything, but she also knew that Merlinite was sincere. He had always been sincere in their meetings. so many options played out and so many things....

"It's a good thing I'm not interested in your team? I don't want to hurt anyone, kill anyone. All I want to do is take people away." She rubbed her face, "Take them away where they don't have to be unhappy. I'm trying..." There was a small break in her voice, before the lady in her toughened up.

"I'm going to trust you, because I have very few to trust." She came closer, before powering down into her civilian form. That way, if anyone looked at them now, it was a girl talking to a negaverser. he was doing his duty.

He just knew her identity now. "My name is Failyn Namgung. This is my contact information." She pulled out a slip of paper, wrote her name and phone number and held out to Merlinite. "Please....Please don't..." She gnawed on her lip, wondering out to phrase it. "Please don't tell anyone else...."

Merlinite watched her and was surprised when she powered down, looking very nervous all of a sudden. He looked around to make sure there was no one watching, no chance of them being seen or recorded, then looked at her and nodded his head at her introduction. He cleared his throat and then powered down as well.

"Dennis Terry."

It was only fair, right? Sure, he was risking a lot because they were the ones in power now, and he would get absolutely wrecked by anyone on his team if they found out he was being so friendly towards their enemies. But he was not being friendly toward all the senshi, right? Just one, who was helping people that did not matter, in the scheme of things. Energy fodder and maybe a few White Mooners here and there, but since they were already in control and just getting stronger, did it really matter if he turned a blind eye to one senshi?

Yes, it mattered. But he did not care.

"I won't tell anyone. I promise, alright? Just be careful."

Fai blinked in surprise as he powered down as well, and with all the glamour and power away, it was just to civilian friends talking to each other. It had taken too long. Her smile was real as she reached over and hugged him.

"It's nice to meet you Dennis. Thank you for being so kind to me all these years, and hopefully years to come." She pulled back, smoothing her clothes. "Please yes...Anything that helps me avoid causing or getting trouble with the Nega's would be wonderful." She pressed the paper gently in his hand and looked around.

"Okay, I guess I should get going now." She chuckled, "That phone number isn't just for letting me know things, if you need someone to talk to, or want something normal, you can always call me." She let go of his hand, hiking her scarf up little. "You be careful too Dennis." and with that, she was out into the allies and slipping her way to civilian settings.
