Nights at the camp were, on very rare occasions (often involving reminiscences of the past and a strong sense of optimism), disturbingly peaceful. What lurked beyond the quiet, guarded borders of the refuge was anything but, but for those within its gates the night was calm. A breeze blew past, ruffling a certain Ashur Knight's hair up even more so than it's usual mess, which he attempted to fix but only succeeded in mussing it up some more. He'd long since stamped out the existence of combs -- those were now a luxury that he didn't really want to bother with anymore -- and, after huffing, just decided it'd be best it he just left it alone. With any luck the wind might actually work in his favor and fix it for him.
Ashur was patrolling borders a little further out from the camp. He volunteered the shift and left Jasmyn with Urda and gave the usual spiel about looking out for each other and staying safe and who to go to in case something happens. Urda was a good kid... and despite himself his mind wandered to some five years ago. Reminiscing, as he was wont to do when all was oddly quiet and nothing was really going bump in the night. At least not yet. He was quite a way's off route, the idea of wanting to cover a bit more ground hitting him a little over half an hour earlier, when he felt it.
Chaos.
The knight bristled at the aura, forcing whatever emotions came to the surface back down so he could concentrate. His mind was back on alert as he drew his weapon, his body tensing slightly as he readied himself for a fight. These were never easy, even now that he was a knight, but he would hold his ground.

Talia was walking home, arms very much crossed against her chest, just daring someone to come get her. It had been a late night at the office and she'd driven home, all prepared for a relaxing night of grading papers (gosh she loved working two jobs).
But now she'd decided on a short midnight snack run to the convenience store, and walking back it was dark and creepy. She really hated the fact that now she not only felt unsafe due to human nature, but doubly unsafe due to the increased negaverse threat. Normally she'd take Damon with her, but he'd been sound asleep by the time she'd gotten home, and she assured herself that she was strong enough to take out anyone who threatened her.
"Yeah. I'll be home soon," she muttered to herself, stepping out of the convenience store. Her fingers wrapped a little more tightly around the flimsy plastic bag that held her snack. "Just a short walk and then it's home base."

Ashur had followed the signature almost mindlessly and, before he realized it, had meandered his way to the borders of Destiny City. Chaos auras lit his senses up something fierce, and he lost the one he was following when it melded in with the rest which left a bad taste in his mouth. He wrinkled his nose as he put his weapon away. All these years and he still wasn't used to it, but he carried on, being careful to stick to the shadows and move as quietly as humanly possible. With any luck, no youma or agents would be anywhere nearby.
He couldn't remember the last time he actually visited the city for reasons other than going on some mission or another for the Resistance. Even those were few and far between; not much reason in bringing along a shields guy in recent years. Ash found his uses on occasion, of course, but it was rare now. He heaved a sigh as he turned to go down an alley when he heard a voice. A familiar voice coming from behind him, on the street.
But he definitely knew that voice. Ash dared to get to the edge of the shadows in the alley and take a peek, then grinned. Talia Chu. "Care to take me with you, miss?" he called at a half-whisper, so it sort of sounded like hissing. Thankfully at this hour no one else was on the streets, which begged the question...

Talia jumped and let out a screech at the voice that came out of nowhere. One hand was over her heart (to protect starseed snatching) while the other was fumbling around in her purse for her henshin pen.
After a moment or two of processing, she realized she knew that voice, and it had been entirely silly to jump at all. "Ooooh, don't scare me like that! You're such a d**k!!" It was said in jest though- Talia would rather walk home with Dom than by herself any day.

Laughing was an occasion even rarer than his presence in the field, but Ashur -- who powered down before walking out into the open street -- managed just fine, his eyes narrowed and the smile on his face still wide after he was done poking fun.
Dominic moved toward his friend a couple of steps, pondering in brief how long it'd been since he last saw her. Weeks, quite possibly months, was the answer he'd come to. A shame, really, but he was at least aware of her stand on the situation with the Negaverse and knew she was doing what she could. There were others that also took up a post in the city, helping from the inside sort of deal.
"Aw. I missed you, too!" he said, opening his arms as though welcoming her for a hug that she may or may not want to return after his little joke.
