It had been perhaps a week since he had met the flower loving mare Xiao and she had shared with him her art of flower arranging. Mahlar had enjoyed her company greatly and had also walked away with a beginners knowledge of how to make flower arrangements as well as an arrangement that she had made. That arrangement was special to him and he kept it in a safe place at his home. The flowers were still doing well, but they were starting to show the first signs of wilting, something he knew would happen sooner or later. Even so it reminded him of Xiao ever time he looked at it. He had not planned to spend this much time away from her, heck he didn't want to leave the day they had met, wanting nothing more than to stay up all night discussing flowers and her life before she met him, but he had been stupid and left. But his departure had a purpose to it. The day after returning back to his home Mahlar had begun scouring the forest and meadows for all the materials that he would need. He didn't have a clear picture in mind of what he would make, but if he got enough different things together surely he could figure it out. After several days of picking flowers, finding small rocks, and other items that he could use Mahlar was ready for the next step. He had payed close attention to when Xiao had made her arrangement, but she had plenty of practice doing them and so it was not as simple for Mahlar to make one. He used a chunk of curved bark for the container and slowly began adding to it, starting with the dirt. He spent the better part of a few hours placing flowers, taking a step back, changing his mind and pulling them out to either put them in a different order or replace some with different kinds of flowers. It had taken him a long time but finally it was done. The mix of flowers was good, but he could probably do better with a bit more practice. He had used daisies, a few small red roses - which had been a pain (literally) to pick, a couple of fern leaves and some smaller white flowers that he didn't know the name of. While it wasn't overly colorful he thought it was pretty darn good for his first arrangement. It had been too long in the day to bring it to Xiao that day and so Mahlar had had to wait until the next morning. He rose before the sun and with a final inspection of his piece Mahlar picked it up and began the journey to Xiao's. He couldn't move very fast, for he worried about damaging the flowers, but eventually he came across the area where he home was. Oh he hoped she was home...but mostly he hoped she would like his present. Actually, mostly he was looking forward to spending more time with her. He came towards her small hut and then stopped a short distance away, not wanting to intrude on her privacy. Setting the arrangement down he used his nose to put a flower back which had tipped over in the journey and then turned his attention to the hut. "Xiao!" He called out. "Are you here?" Please be here.

For the last few nights Xiao had been feeling extremely lonely. In fact she'd been feeling this way ever since Mahlar left her home by the waterfall. Her nights were restless. Her days seemed dreary. The only thing keeping her from wandering off to find new flowers to use in arrangements was the slim hope that she might see Mahlar again, but now almost a full week later she was loosing the hope that she would. She'd halfheartedly taken care of her flowers, watching the little green sprouts work their way above the soft moistened soil. Now she was off behind her little hut gathering a few small clovers for use in a small piece that she was mildly working on to get her mind off the mini stallion who'd stolen her heart. That was when the call came from the front of her house, it was his voice. 'Mahlar? Could it really be or am I hearing things again?' She asked herself. Hesitantly she came around the house to see him moving a flower with his nose, which she at first took to be a small flower from her garden but it turned out there was an arrangement sitting by his feet in a small piece of curved bark. Her heart almost stopped at the sight. It was really him! "Hello again Mahlar! Its wonderful to see you." Her smile was shy, her cheeks flaming red at the thought he'd come to see her.
She-Ra of Etheria Whee! I am so happy these two get along so well!

When he say Xiao's white hide appear from behind her hut he broke out into a large goofy smile. He had missed her greatly since they had departed a week ago, but it wasn't until now when he got to see her again that it truly sunk in. He now realized that she had been on his mind all day every day since he had left after being given a lesson in arranging flowers. And now to see her again after all this time, why it made him happier than he could even describe. Seeing the blush rise on her checks Mahlar knew that she had missed him too and was happy to see him. "I wanted to come sooner, but..." But I'm an idiot, he mentally added. "Well, I wanted to make it perfect...for you." He said and lowered his head, pushing the flower arrangement he had made for her out a bit. That flower that he had just straightened fell over again and he let out a small laugh as he looked up at Xiao. "It's almost perfect." He hoped that she wouldn't mind the small flaw in his gift. Why the fact that it had made it here in such a good condition was a miracle. Wasteland Wyvern I know! They are so cute together!

Xiao looked down at the arrangement and giggled slightly when the flower tipped over. Walking lightly over to it she righted the flower and said, "Its beautiful Mahlar. Thank you so much." What she did next surprised even her, walking closer she nuzzled his neck taking in the sweet scent of the roses that were laced into his amazing hair. Her smile became shy again when she looked up at him. The two were so close, physically, that she couldn't help her once again flaming cheeks. She'd never been so close to a stallion before, especially not one that made her heart skip a few beats and then speed up like a scared rabbits. Bending she sniffed the flowers in the arrangement. His choices were lovely, and the roses really set off the whole scheme. She'd cherish this one as long as it lasted and still remember it vividly after it was gone.

Her reaction was everything he had hoped for. She didn't mind that that one flower was being stubborn. Actually now that he thought about it, that flower added a little bit of personality to it. Why it's not every arrangement that you get something like that. "You're welcome." He would have said more but he was surprised into silence when she stepped forward and gave him a nuzzle on his neck. Mahlar was so surprised that he remained motionless for a moment, enjoying the lingering warm feeling on the side of his neck. When he finally snapped out of his stupor he watched her sniff the flowers he had chosen for the arrangements. Lowering his head he gave her a nuzzle on the check. "I missed you so much." Some would call it crazy, to miss someone who they had only met once before, but Mahlar felt that he was whole once more now that he was with Xiao. He was a fool for having stayed away for so long, but he had been on a quest to bring her the perfect gift and he was sure that he had delivered on that. Wasteland Wyvern Can you feel the love toniiiight! Teehee.

She felt him lock up when she first nuzzled him and worried that she'd done something wrong until he did the same with her cheek. Yup now they were really on fire. Her blush heavily darkening her milk white face she smiled, "I missed you as well. The world just seemed to empty without you..." She hadn't meant to say it quite like that but it was the truth. Her world had been horribly empty when he was gone. Maybe some might call their love at first sight meeting a falsehood but that was not how Xiao's heart felt. It was pleased as punch that he'd come back, and more so with an amazing present. Stepping backward she picked up the end of the bark in her mouth and lifted her present high, walking to her house she sat it next to where she slept so she could see it when she woke up, and when she went to bed. Sniffing the flowers one more time she turned to him and said, "So what would you like to do today? We have quite a few hours together before dusk." She almost wanted to show him the wonder of the redwood forest behind her home. Deeper in there was a small cave where she'd found flowers that actually glowed!
She-Ra of Etheria -Snorts- I was thinking the same song!

"I know." He told her softly, seeing the deep flush in her cheeks. "I felt the same way." Yup, he had fallen for her. He hadn't expected to fall in love, not so quickly, and yet it had happened, but he couldn't be happier with how things had turned out. If he was honest, he had never believed in love at first sight, thinking anyone who fell in love in a single meeting was crazy, or making things up. But now he understood what they meant, for it had happened to him. "You were never far from my thoughts." He watched her put his gift away. Her question made him pause. What would he like to do? "Anything...as long as you are by my side I will be happy." He smiled at her, a wide beaming smile and then he thought of something. "Show me your world Xiao. I want to see everything, I want to learn everything I can about you. I just want to be with you." And of course he would share things about him, about his family and what he had done so far in his life, he would tell her where he lived and how he wanted to share his life from this moment on with her.

Xiao smiled playfully as she looked up at Mahlar. "Would you be interested in glowing flowers? I found a really interesting cave and about halfway in there is a lovely lotus like bloom that lights up the cave." That was one of many things she desperately wanted to show him. This area she had settled in had so many wonders. She was lucky to have such a home, but luckier still that she had met Mahlar.

His ears perked forward at her suggestion. Of all the different things he had imagined Xiao showing him when it came to where she lived he had not expected her to throw something as amazing sounding as that at him right from the start. Why, if that was what they were going to start with he could only imagine what wonderful surprises he would be shown later. "I would love to see them." He told her with a broad smile. If only he hadn't taken so long in returning to her, then he would have been able to see these things and get to known her sooner. But it was better to be late than never show up again and so Mahlar was looking forward to finally taking the time to get to know Xiao better.

Xiao looked at Mahlar and grinned before taking off running, daring him to chase her. It had been a long time since she'd just enjoyed herself and with Mahlar she could just be herself for once. Her little hooves kicked up bits of dirt as she wound through the redwood trees, some so big it would take her almost twenty minutes to traverse the circumference. The cave was not too far in but for now she just wanted to have some fun! "Run with me Mahlar!"

He couldn't help but laugh a bit as she took off at a run. He hadn't run for the sheer fun of it in way too long. Mahlar let out a whoop of joy before taking off after Xiao. He let her stay ahead of him for the first moments and then finally he put a burst of speed on until he was running at her ride. He had a wide smile on her lips as he looked over at her, the large redwood trees were still massive but going at a run they seemed a little less intimidating. His long mane flowed out behind him like a black flag, though the roses managed to stay tucked within the hair. "Ah I feel like a foal again!" He said with a laugh. Yes, it had likely been that long since he had run like this, fast and carefree with a friend at his side. Honestly though, being with Xiao made him feel more alive than he ever had and he never wanted this feeling to go away.

She grinned as they both ran, watching Mahlar's long hair stream out behind him. Her own hair kept tightly bound and she wondered what it would be like to have free flowing hair. The cave was coming up and she looked over to Mahlar and said, "Looks like this is our stop!" She put her hooves to the dirt and skidded to a stop. This was what it truly meant to live! Her mother had always scolded her when she got dirty and she had developed an aversion to being dirty but with Mahlar she was throwing caution to the wind and just being herself for once. The person beneath the lady her mother cultivated. 'I feel so free with him...'
She-Ra of Etheria Sorry for the wait. Its taking more time than I thought to get back into the swing of things!

Mahlar kept pace with Xiao as she led the way to the cave. He was so excited to see more of her world, learn more about her and most importantly of all spending time with her. Hearing her call out Mahlar skidded to a stop as well, ending up a few feet in front of Xiao. He slowly turned around to face her a huge grin on his lips. His heart was racing but it wasn't all from the run they had just made. It seemed that his heart beat a bit faster every time he laid eyes on the mare before him. "I can't wait to see what's inside." He told her as he looked towards the entrance of the cave. He had only been in a cave once or twice in his life so far, but he was certain that this cave would be so much better than the others he had been to. He stepped closer and gave her a nuzzle. "Lead the way."

Xiao couldn't help the little giggle that escaped her lips when he nuzzled her. She remembered being nuzzled by her siblings when they were all little foals but this nuzzle felt different, felt right. She smiled at him shyly and nickered almost nervously. The cave was light at the beginning but steadily grew darker as they moved inward. She was never really a fan of dark caves but this one was worth the slightly scary atmosphere to find the secret hidden at the back. The glowing flowers had been an amazing find and she kept their secret well for fear that someone would take them all and leave her with none. "Careful now. The floor is very wet around here..." She hate to see him slip and hurt himself on their outing. Date? Was it a date? She wasn't sure as her mother had always told her 'proper ladies do not date'. She rolled her eyes in the dark at the remembered words. Her mother was such a... Such a... Stick in the mud! Yes that was indeed what she was. Suddenly she felt a weight lift off her shoulders. She'd never once thought ill of her mother but for some reason it felt good to call her a silly name. She sighed and looked back at Mahlar, her eyes gleaming with emotion that went unsaid for now. "We're here!" She moved aside and let him take in the hidden lake deep within the cave. The flowers floating atop the water glowed in shades of blue and purple and white. They were like lilies and orchids mixed together and she wasn't sure how they came to be but a treasure they most certainly were.

Mahlar followed Xiao into the cave. He couldn't help but take a good look around as they moved deeper. He had been in a few caves in his life, and while this one looked similar to those at first, he realized the deeper they got the more unique this cave became. When she warned him of the wet ground he had to pull his eyes away from the features of the cave and concentrate on paying attention to his footing. The last thing he wanted to do was slip and end up hurting himself. Hearing that they had arrived Mahlar brought his gaze up. He felt his jaw drop a bit at the sight. He had seen some pretty amazing things in his life but this certainly topped them all. His eyes roamed over the lake and it's glowing flowers floating on it's surface. "Wow." Was all he could manage to say at first. This was such an incredible place and he was rendered practically speechless by it's beauty. He stepped closer to the lake, lowering his head to peer down at the water and the flowers more closely. "Xiao, this place is amazing." He said as he lifted his gaze once more to look at her. "How did you ever find it?" The obvious answer was that she wandered into the cave and found it, but he wanted to hear about it none the less.
