Ugh, she was so tired... Every night the nightmare came and every night she woke too soon, after too little sleep. After more than two months of this, Ida was physically exhausted, and after everything that had happened along with that, she was mentally exhausted as well. The glow that danced down her arm was something of a comfort, but that didn't replace the lost sleep... if anything, the new flow of energy put more stress on a body already struggling, even if Ida would have fervently denied the connection having any negative side effects.

Patrolling always needing doing though, which was why she was out now, trying to finish her rounds so she could go home and give sleep another try. It wasn't going to work, of course, but the hope was there. Only visits to Ida gave any relief. Finding the lip of a building over looking the park, a favored perch, the senshi sighed as she sank down on it, letting one striped leg dangle down the rough brick as she hooked the heel of the other on the ledge and let her arm wrap around it, chin coming to rest on top of it all.

Just a moment to rest, I think. The youma have been out in force tonight, twice as many as normal... I think I deserve a moment to recuperate. Just a couple of minutes, and then I'll finish my patrol.

The low hum of traffic was soothing, the night air cool against her face. The marks of burns were almost completely gone now, thanks to senshi healing, but glow covered well what was left. Brown eyes drifted shut and the senshi sighed softly, starting to drift... and as she drifted, she leaned ever so slightly, the loss of focus on balance meaning her own weight pulled her forward... and then, suddenly, Ida jerked as she felt herself tip too far, yelping in surprise as she passed the point where friction kept her in place against the pull of gravity. Fully awake now, the young woman twisted like a cat to reach for the ledge as her heels scraped brick and she just felt it skin her fingertips... and then open air all around her, the sickening feeling of free fall pulling her stomach tight.

Heights had never scared her, but this building was tall... too tall. Even with her eternal strength, it was too far to the ground to come out completely unharmed... Ugh, this was really going to hurt, and she was going to need to find another excuse for another injury so soon after the others, unable to stop flailing in an entirely embarrassing way as she fell.

He had felt the Eternal clearly from some distance, and debated a long time with himself whether it was the sort of situation he wanted to get himself into that night. He didn't feel particularly in favor of a handful of bad injuries, or worse. The encounter with the Bull of Mars had done some deed for the fire teaching its own lessons. A captain should have at the very least their Youma with them to really approach a high rank than themselves.

Just the same, it seemed as much foolishness not to at least try to get sight confirmation on the bearer of that Eternal signature. If it was a senshi unknown to the database, it would be worth letting the InFos branch that they had some hunting to do. He made it to a cross walk, knowing that the signature was close. It hadn't been moving, and was practically overlapped over his own.

But it felt like it was getting closer? And Closer?
Only at the last moment it occurred to Titan- he was standing street level and many encounters with other order and chaos uniforms occurred on rooftop. He looked up with enough time to white and purple flailing, put out his arms and lead the catch- turning and giving with the impact to a crouch to try to lessen either of them being mangled.
"Ida??"

It is a funny kind of ambush.

The fall came to abrupt end, not with a hard slam into unyielding concrete, but the moderately more yielding feel of a set of arms and as they spun, Ida threw her own around a thick neck in instinctive need to not to fall out of the secure grip. When they finally came to a stop, the senshi heard her name in a baritone, far too familiar voice and her eyes flew open to stare at just who had caught her. Crap.

Blonde hair, familiar face, HUGE broad shoulders that she was clinging embarrassingly to... the eternal jerked her arms back, tucking her fists against her chest and her knees together as she stared wide-eyed and felt the disgusting wash of Captain aura assaulting her inner senses. Promoted. Crap crap crap...

"Titan!" Ida gasped out as she struggled to resist the urge to freak out completely. He was close... to close... and he had his hands on her... so close to her starseed... Stiff as a board, the senshi managed words in a strangled voice, fearful of making a move that might provoke him into violence while she was in this vulnerable position. "Would you mind terribly much putting me down, please? I would... really appreciate it."

This is what happened when you patrolled alone, she decided. Stupid Thraen and Faust, being right... If she was going to keep doing this while exhausted, she was going to have to start doing it with a partner, even an equally exhausted one... a partner would have kept her awake or sensed a Captain's aura before she dropped into his arms. Big, beefy arms that could probably snap her like a twig, even with just captain strength... Crap.

This was why she fought from a distance.

Her sudden recoil of arms earned a quizzical look from the captain, let alone her use of his name like it was some sort or expletive. Or maybe like she was scolding? Scolding for startling her even though she was the one who had literally dropped in on him. "If I was going to hurt you, I shouldn't have caught you, Lady Ida."

Titan carefully stood from the crouch, not letting her down just yet as he looked her over for wounds. There were no other auras in the area, and she wasn't bloodied. No sudden youma or generals bearing down on them both and jealous he was in way of the kill. "Did you miss a jump? That is a long way to fall. "

How many reasons were there really for falling from a skyscraper.

"I don't think you would have been ok." The last words came suspect and disapproving as another option dawned, " you weren't being rash...?"

The eternal senshi squirmed as she felt herself lifted through the air and, again, she resisted the urge to flail about desperately, though her eyes got very large in her dusky face. It helped that he seemed to sense the unspoken and reassured her he had no designs on hurting her... but that didn't mean he couldn't change his mind. Despite what he said and how he had acted in the past... he was still Negaverse, and in the end, they were on different sides. She had been around long enough, been hurt enough, to remain wary.

"I didn't miss my jump..." Ida said stiffly, trying to calm her racing heart. It was a logical question, of course... but his sudden disapproving tone pulled her attention back to him and it took a moment for her to process what he meant by 'rash', her eyebrows drawn together in confusion. Rash... done without thinking... And her eyes flew wide as she squirmed again, forgetting entirely what she'd been so concerned about in her hurry to prove herself.

"NO! Oh my gosh, no... I wouldn't kill myself." Ida said earnestly, turning her marked face fully towards Titan as she lifted her hands and spread her fingers, one palm marked with her symbol. "I'm not like that! And if I was, don't you think I would have done it powered down? A fall like that would have killed a civilian, but a senshi... I probably would have broken some things, but I would have lived... No, no, I just..."

A flush heated her cheeks as she tucked her hands into her lap, tugging her skirts down in embarrassment. "I... lost my balance. I was on the ledge and I leaned too far, I guess. I fell before I could catch myself." He... didn't need to know she had fallen asleep sitting on the ledge. That little embarrassment could stay to herself.

"I am not so good at thinking. But most who go about killing themselves don't spend so much time worrying what clothes they are wearing. " One she'd settled to tucking her skirts, strange markings aside, he carefully dipped the arm under her legs to let her feet down to the ground on tip-toe while holding her shoulders still and steady. Once her feet seemed secure and supporting her, he carefully moved the second arm away. "A fall might not kill you, but the wounds from it could after a few hours. You still bleed, Lady. "

It was no sort of good way to go for an enemy and supposed warrioress. They should all have the 'glory' of battle to attach to their epitaphs. Even if that glory was dubious in practice compared to song. His eyes were naturally drawn more to her marks than the flush, considering it with the same slow cadence that he did the information about balance. "Did you get some sort of space sickness? That isn't very usual. "

Or space tattoo? Space...something? He motioned with the question to the abnormality.

"You'd be surprised, I think." Was the only comment she offered on that as he lowered her to her feet. She'd heard stories of girls who planned out their suicide to the last detail, carefully applying makeup and settling themselves on their bed before overdosing on pills, all so that when the body was found it would look good. She wasn't sure how much of those stories was true, but she could understand it, to some extent.

The care with which he put her down, settling her boots gently on the sidewalk and making sure she was steady before he removed his supporting arm, all with out any sort of threatening move, was both relieving and confusing. It was hard to keep her guard up against someone who treated her so thoughtfully, despite the uniform he wore, and Ida felt herself relaxing against her better judgement. Fingers straightened the cloth around her neck as she rolled her shoulders in a shrug, not flippant so much as resigned.

"I've had worse injuries before, Titan, and survived. It wouldn't have been pleasant, but a broken leg is not as serious as getting stabbed, I think." Ida said , blinking slowly when he asked if she had some sort of sickness. Glancing down, she stretched her arm out and spread her fingers, considering the way her skin glowed. She pondered the idea of illness, but discarded it immediately. No, this was linked into her planet and it didn't feel like a sickness.

"I don't know for sure what it is, but it's not anything like that." She said, rather glad to be moving onto a better subject. "It's sort of a long story, how I got these. The short of it is that I went to Ida and planted a tree in an old tradition, then swore myself to my asteroid, to protecting it and the people of Earth, and it... Responded." That word was tame for the sheer, overwhelming rush of power that had run through her like electricity through a live wire, shattering some barrier she hadn't known she had.

"After that, I found myself marked as you see." Ida turned and extended her arm for him to see better, turning her palm upwards to show the symbol of Ida that echoed the one on her forehead. "I can feel the energy of my planet a lot stronger now."

He wasn't sure how to parse the vast differences in so hurriedly pushing down skirts compared against too-bold attestations that she'd 'had worse' injuries. It came across too frivolous, desperate and hollow in act for what it lacked in presence in her tone of voice. It tasted of an attempt to prove strength with word against the reality of having plummeted off a building from just...
leaning over too far.

And she just kept fussing at her uniform, straightening it like it was really, really important that it be just so RIGHT THEN. Well, if she is nervous anyway, of course she is going to try to save face. We are enemies, and it isn't good for an enemy to find the c***k in armor. And she is a woman. Women have strange priorities. I don't know how she defines strength. Maybe where her ruffles are or how her collar looks is really important to her in how she thinks people will look at her as strong or weak. There's nothing to profit in gainsaying a noble who is uncertain. It would just make her even more defensive and probably offended.

Nobles will be as they will be, in most cases.

He listened to her explanation of exploits on her world, uncertain even further how planting a tree was going to convince the amorphous will or awareness of some planet that she needed...whatever it was the thing had done to her to make her glow or feel her home's energy more keenly. He wasn't sure what some place far away would care about oaths to protect Earth, either. Nor what he should make of it. Only the Throne of Earth can recgonize whether or not your oath to it matters, and you don't bear Queen Metallia's mark.

But it was reminiscent of the effects on Babylon, so it seemed like he may as well offer it, "You should talk to Babylon of Mercury. He glows, too, but he's not a scout. I don't think he planted any trees though. "

With something to talk about that wasn't distressing and a safe distance between herself and Titan, the fidgeting Ida had been doing to stave off her own uncertainty stopped. Once she had shown her arm to him, her hands had fallen to rest on her compact and stayed there, quiet.

"Babylon? That's a knight name, but not one I've met before. He also glows?" That was news of a welcome sort, another name to add to the pitifully few who might know what was going on. "That would make three of us, with Ganymede... The last time I saw her, she had her symbol on her forehead as well. Two senshi and a knight..."

Ida's face fell into thoughtful lines. "Do you know what happened, by chance? I would agree with you that he probably didn't plant a tree to do it... those trees don't grow anywhere but on Ida. I think its probably safe to say whatever happened to either of them to produce this glow, it wasn't the same for any of us."

How odd... were there more of them out there, changed like this? In her year and a half as a senshi, she had never seen this before on any senshi or knight she had ever met. Obviously Titan had never seen it either, or he would not have asked if it was a sickness.

"Do you know of anyone else who glows?" The irony of asking a negaverse officer for information about a happening in her own faction was not lost on her, but if he could offer insight on this, she would not look twice at the source.

"I don't know very clearly what exactly happen, but he had two starseeds in him because he was carrying ...Mena....menn....his ...ancestor? Around. He was trying to get to some 'Cauldron'. He got there, I guess, but he still glows plenty. I met him with Mistral of Mercury...a bit back. He looked better more recently. The first time I saw him he didn't look well or very with it, though. "

The memory of the man's hand on him, the flush of energy chasing away the nausea and wracking fatigue of teleportation too far for his rank, was as vivid as the first moments of panic as the doors closed behind all of the invitees at the end of the City's Hunger Games Marathon. A handful of moments in the year and months since crystallized and stark in the otherwise haze of stupidity he'd been laden with for his lot in life. He tried to focus enough on this very conversation as well- it was information that seemed like something he should keep. Tell someone? He didn't know.

It was getting less and less clear how he felt about telling information either way- one betrayed his oath and the other that fulfilled it seed to betray good people. He wished all over again for the clearer guidance a present lord could have offered. "I...don't. Not that I can think of...just you and Babylon. Well, glowing like that."

He motioned slowly with an open palm at her arm. "Most senshi seem to have a little glow to them when light catches them right, but not actually make light themselves. I don't even know how many other officers have met Babylon or....Ganiy-whatsit...or yourself to have noticed that there's strangely glowing people now. Or whatever that means. Magic is strange. Have you talked to the Ganimusits person already about their glowing? You are sure it isn't some illness and you are all three going to start being unwell again? "

He wished again, not for the first or final time, that he had some way of double checking on Babylon to make sure the man was really-really alright.

Two starseeds? Ida's eyes widened as she absorbed that information, wondering at it. I didn't know it was possible for someone to carry more than one, but it is. I don't think Titan would lie to me about that.

Carrying the starseed of his ancestor to the 'cauldron'? That sounded like an extraordinary feat, a great act of devotion... much like her own, though hers had been bit less impressive, she was sure. It made her wonder if Ganymede had a story like that, something she had done... was that the common element?

"You're the first officer I've met since I came back... only the second person to see me like this, actually. The other was a squire that was there with me." She said as she pondered the questions this all raised. If she'd been planning to talk to Ganymede before, now she was certain she needed to. "Her senshi name is Ganymede, and no, I haven't yet. I've been planning to... and I'm pretty sure its not an illness."

Glancing down at her hand, Ida flexed it gently, watching the markings move with her skin. "I'm tired, but that's because I can't sleep because of the nightmares I've been having. I was having those before I went to Ida. Beyond that, I feel normal. I don't... feel sick." She said as she considered it, assessing the feel of her own body. She was nearly positive at this point that it wasn't a sickness. "If anything, I feel more like I have more energy than normal... and I know that sounds strange, saying I'm tired but I have energy. Its like..."

How to describe the crawl of energy under her skin, energy she couldn't use?

"Its like... static electricity. Maybe. I don't know. I don't have much to compare it to." Even as she said it, the eternal wondered why she was going into this with him... beyond his willingness to discuss it. It was hard to remember what he was like this, or remember that anything she told him was possible information to feed the Negaverse with. It wasn't a pleasant thought. Still... he had seen it on someone else. Perhaps this wasn't really new information. "I'm sure I'm not going to start being unwell."

If lies were ever hoped, by the leads of the Negaverse, to be part of Titan's arsenal then they'd have to rely on those by omission only. He was a terrible straight-up liar. He'd never been good at it as a child, hadn't liked it or found use for it or the gains from it, and had certainly not cultivated it. As it was, he didn't suspect that she might be weighing his words beyond what any noble might be expected to do when talking to one of his station.

Accordingly, when she explained more of her situation, and corrected him on the other senshi's name, he mostly kept his mouth shut. It will take a lot more than this one conversation to get that name through. How many letters is it even? Why can't it be simple, like 'Ida'? Why is she out patrolling if this is so new and she doesn't know so much about it either? No use advising her that she shouldn't be talking to any second persons not Babylon or Ganymusits. But she wouldn't have heard of Babylon, maybe?

Suggesting the sensation of a starseed's consumed energy, just sustained and less soul-consumey felt in bad taste again. Titan shifted to support one elbow in hand while the other hand pulled thoughtfully at his goatee. "I cannot gainsay say you; it is no station of mine to advise you. .. or really anyone. "

"But, ' He qualified, lifting hand from chin to look directly to her face, "As someone who has known you on the battlefield, it is no good to find you this worn. "

You would be less of a challenge this way to a General, and would bring little honor, health or hope to your planet if you died so simply.

"I'll keep an eye out for any others. If they know something. If we meet again, and it is not for blows, I'll try to remember to mention anything. If this is harmful to the Earth, it is better to find out early and see what can be done. " He nodded to her respectfully, genial excepting his mouth was a pressed line of uncertainty with the whole ordeal from start to finish. It was better than how the last words had gone, a boon of some unknown source and seeing her at that flame-riddled mission.

Now more than ever, his odd mode of speaking was confusing. Gainsay... his station? She supposed someone else would have said it wasn't their 'place' to 'argue' with her, after she thought about it a moment. The oddity of it would have been endearing, if the situation had been different.... if they'd been different people.

Ida tucked her chin a little as he looked at her, embarrassed but also sort of... pleased that seeing her less than at her best would worry him. Though maybe worry was too strong of a word. Why would he worry about an opponent being weak? Wasn't that supposed to be a good thing? The senshi was pretty sure that Bischofite would have let her fall, so he could find amusement in her broken body. Painite would have run her through sooner than handle her gently. Again and again, Titan proved himself odd among his fellows.

"There is not much to be done about it, for now." She said as she spread her hands placatingly. "I'm being careful, as much as I can be, but I can't stop completely." Nothing stopped because senshi got tired... the war didn't have that much consideration. And the glow? Sitting at home staring at it was not going to find her the answers she needed.

At least the promise of information was something, and kind of him to offer. Sharing information was not something their sides usually did, but if he wanted to, then she could reciprocate. Within reason.

"Thank you." She said softly, stepping forward to offer a slender hand to him. "For the offer, and for the catch, earlier. You didn't have to and no one would have expected you to. I've always managed to take care of myself well enough, because I have to, but I'm still grateful... If you ever have any questions I can answer in return, I will do my best. If you need help that I can give... just ask."

Ida wasn't sure how much it would mean to him, but it felt right to make the offer. She very much preferred fighting beside him rather than against him... but they couldn't always have things how they wanted them. Hopefully the times they had to face each other were few and far apart.

"No, none of us can." It wasn't a direct answer to her explanation of stopping, so much as a soft, self-conversant ruing. He could still feel that battle had glory, that the fight was honorable and the cause just. The problem was the tarnish and closing dark he saw around his very lord and those few he'd honestly met of his own side. Ladon was dear, but he was not well. Bischofite was...whatever he was from beginning to bleak and tar-blacked end on the other General's sword. Which was it's own disturbance. Or Buddy's laugh, which grew less and less genuine and more unhinged at the edges.
To stop completely was not in our powers. Only act.

His gaze shifted to her offered hand, and he took it carefully in his much larger paw. "Take care, Ida. If we meet to talk again, I will look forward to it. If in battle, I expect you'll be busy with Generals. But if with me, I will expect your best."

He let her hand go with no moves aggressive, nor any seeming inclination to such. Titan turned smartly on his heel and continued on his patrol, a little more wary of looking up.
