With quite a bit of time to kill before her shift in the Infirmary, as well as a decided need to bother someone into having lunch with her, Abbi had set off in the dorm halls to see who she could wrangle into her plans. There were a number of people she could have normally quite easily convinced to join her, but she was feeling her social circle needing some expanding, or at least some strengthening, so the girl had opted out of wandering the upper halls in favor of the basement.
In particular she was looking for a specific, shy red head but couldn't quite remember what room Noemi lived in. This created a need for the teen to wander up and down various hallways, peeking at doors in the hope that her friend would have decorated it at least in part, until she stopped in one hall to think.

"If I were a cute red head... What room would I live in?" Abbi wondered out loud, tapping her chin a moment before she looked down the hallway and realized she was very lost. Both eyebrows lowered for a moment, there was really no telling where her friend would have roomed beyond the general idea of the basement, before she began to search for someone who could just point her in the direction of the stairs.

"Love Shack, Baby" Jacob mouthed as he penciled in the words beneath his room number. Hell yeah, B52! He couldn't believe it hadn't been claimed yet. Well, there was a lot he was having trouble believing. His new weapon/partner/pal, Wrong Way. That he'd somehow impressed someone after that hell-on-earth test trial. That he was here to fight honest to goodness monsters!

The sound of approaching footsteps caught his attention, and Jacob caught sight of a girl headed his way. A fellow-trainee, maybe? She was talking to herself, and when he heard what she was saying, he grinned.

"Sorry, lady. Your Princess is in another castle."

Initially startled by the voice that addressed her, Abbi squeaked and whirled around to face the speaker, on the opposite side of the hallway she had been viewing. But the words sank in once she'd faced the person and it took a few moments more for the girl to stop sparkling over them. It had been so long since she'd heard such sweet words, it was too wonderful!
Finally, she managed to compose herself, only to drop her previously kira'ing stance into something forlorn and exhausted.
"Another castle!? But I've been to like five and I'm so tired of fighting Bowser's kids!" She wailed in mock distraught, going so far as to putting a hand against her forehead. The ruse could not be kept up for long as the teen instead burst into a fit of giggles at her theatrics before she finally walked forward.

"Hiya! You don't look familiar so hi! I'm Abbi Killian, Moon, recent Intermediate." Was she preening a little as she offered him her hand for a shake?
Most definitely.
But it was replaced with a bright grin and a general curious look. Was he new? Or was she just bad at knowing people?

Hold up! This girl actually got the reference! That was hot! Jacob laughed at her act, and accepted the hand-shake heartily.

"Jacob Knight! I'm in Moon, too! I just got my room, and weapon. Very much a Noob." he admitted. "So, does that make you my commanding officer? I'm not sure how the hierarchy works around here."

Given how she was joking around with him, it didn't look like this Hunting business was as strict as the military. At least he hadn't seen anyone that looked like a Boot Camp instructor anywhere.

"Knight? Like Knight in Shining Armor? Or as in the Blackest of Nights?" Abbi asked with a laugh as she pumped the man's hand, all too glad to finally find someone who got it. It had been nearly a yearly since she'd gotten to sit down with only herself and a video game, even her headmate could not compete with the excitement of exploring a new world, however interesting Deus was. Though she had acted as though most of her interactions on the Island were similar to that of virtual reality, it wasn't quite the same. Here, she could get hurt. In her games, she could always save and start again. There didn't seem that same grace.

A laugh punctuated his pronouncement as a noob and his question, but Abbi took the moment in stride.
By that, it meant she stared up at the man with wide blue eyes that sparkled all the brighter.
"You may call me Commander Abbi." She told him in her most serious voice, drawing herself up to her full height of barely over five foot as she dropped his hand. "You can just call me Commander. Commander Shepard, Abbi, whatever suits you, really." There wasn't a hierarchy but if she could convince someone she was higher and in charge than she was totally prepared for that.
Entirely.
{ Ach, Little Bit. Do'nah trick the... The... Whazzit? The newb? }
It was so hard not to audibly hush her headmate, so Abbi only winked, the only physical explanation that she was trying to be sneaky and failing terribly.

"Wow! So you're a Moon too! That's really cool! What's your weapon like?" Maybe if she distracted him with questions, he wouldn't bother to call her out on her behavior. Which was definitely, totally, absolutely normal no she wasn't trying to be cooler than she was maybe she should stop fidgeting and dancing from foot to foot but ahhh it was so hard. She just didn't normally met gamer dudes, especially on the Island and especially ones who could possibly call her Commander and live out all her Paragon ideals wow she really needed to stop now.

"Hah! The first one!" Jacob replied. Damn, but he was feeling lucky! Here he was, brand spankin' new to the scene and not only had he found a fellow gamer, said fellow gamer was a cute girl!

And then she pulled rank.

Or was she pulling rank?

Jacob was having a hard time telling. There was a distinct twinkle in her eyes that suggested shenanigans, but the tone of her voice...

"Uh, yes, Commander Shepard!" he decided to play it safe, standing a little taller, which was decidedly taller than Abbi. It was a little awkward, having to look down at a commanding officer.

"Are we allowed to summon them in the dorms?" he replied, grinning slyly. If he could summon Wrong Way, he was totally going to one-up her Mass Effect reference!

<Time for a** kicking?>

<More like time for showing you off, Peanut. Don't worry, bud, we'll get to the a** kicking eventually.>

Wow! A real Knight! And a tall one too!
For a while longer Abbi beamed up at him, all too caught up in her little charade for a moment. This was such fun! And he was a Moon too, so they would definitely be friends and could go to meetings together and make references and--
"Oh! Yeah, you're new that's right!" Both her hands clapped together. "If you've got questions or anything, let me know! I mean, you could ask anybody really most everyone is pretty nice... But after you finish moving in I can like... Give you a tour! Or something!" She grinned before she realized offering a tour and help was not a very Commander thing to do. But he hadn't questioned her over her being called Commander, so maybe he didn't get the joke? Or maybe Abbi was just that good at lying? That probably wasn't the case at all but it was entirely possible he hadn't ever played the game, it wasn't nearly as popular as she always assumed it to be. Finding good t-shirts online with good references had been a real chore! But he had still called her Commander and that was cool, even if he didn't know the reference, though now that she thought on it, she had lied and that wasn't very fair to a newbie like him...

About to totally cave and confess that she wasn't at all a Commander and that no one in their right mind she could refer to her as such, Abbi stopped when questioned.
"Huh... I've not heard we can't! At least... I've never done it and no one I know has gotten into trouble because of it." A finger hooked around her chin to think, trying to recall all the various rules of Hunterhood. In the end she eventually shrugged.
"I'll show you mine if you show me yours!" The teen chirped with a bright grin, getting a little wiggly in her excitement.

"I will totally take you up on that offer!" Jacob warned her, jabbing a thumb towards his room. "Like what's with the medieval decor in here? The rest of the place looks like it's from the future!"

He grinned maniacally at the offer to show off his weapon. He really was freaking psyched with his. Not at all what he would expect, but much like the BFG, whenever he'd found it in a video game, it became a part of his arsenal.

Striking a 'I'm totally about to do something badass' pose, he summoned Wrong Way, and the rune-covered crowbar appeared in his hand.

"If you're Commander Shepard, then I'm Dr. Freeman!" he announced, winking at her.

"Yeeeaaaahhh, the basement isn't the... Choicest of locations." She laughed and wrung her hands together before she pushed them down in front of her. "I think most of the rooms upstairs were taken so they fixed up the basement rooms... Sorta. This whole place has been here for... A really, really long time I-D-K how long exactly but like... At least you've got a cool decoration scheme already!" It was the best attempt at looking on the positive side of things she would be able to make.
"I live upstairs! 174! When we go on the tour I'll show you my room too!" Not medieval like his, it wasn't very futuristic either but at least it was clean!

The girl went wide eyed with awe at his pose, quickly stepping back to give him some room. There was a wide variety of weapons on Island, as varied as their users, but she could never guess what the size would be. She was a small girl and her weapon was taller than her, so it was entirely possible that Jacob's would be too!
When a crowbar appeared she oooh'd and aww'd, clapping excitedly for the show. Wow! She had never seen a practical weapon like that before, she had only ever seen flashy things. But a crowbar! That could really come in handy on missions, more than just for whacking enemies with.
His announcement made her face go a bit serious, though edged with a blush because look he'd winked at her ok, and Abbi nodded solemnly.
"I think I can handle that. Definitely. Totally." There was no holding back any longer and she laughed.

Abbi had put some distance between them and only increased it with a few more steps.
"Unfortunately, my weapon isn't very Shepard-worthy. I mean, she's cool as heck but not... Anyways! Here's Viveca!" Both hands moved to the space before her so that when her scythe was summoned she could immediately give it a spin. And then another twirl, just because she had practiced a lot and maybe she wanted to impress the cool gamer dude.

You know that fanboy face? The one where a guy looks beyond amazed and amazingly stupid at the same time?

User Image

Yeah, that's the one!

That was Jacob when Abbi summoned a freaking scythe and twirled it in the hall like it was some sort of cheering baton.

"That. Is. So. COOL!" he gasped. He seemed to recover a bit from his shiny weapon induced stupor enough to consider what she'd said. "Definitely more of a Final Fantasy weapon than Mass Effect, but DAYUM it is cool! Wait, you said it's name is Viveca? Is it a she? Wrong Way here is an it. I kinda assumed they all were. No offence intended!"

The teen's eyes followed her weapon's trajectory with careful concern, mildly worried that she might hit a wall or, heaven forbid, a ceiling and hurt something. Thankfully the trick went without a hitch and Abbi gave the thing one last good spin before she clunked the pole down to rest on the floor. With that accomplished she looked at Jacob for his reaction and promptly burst into a fit of giggles.
There was a great deal of pride that had welled up within her, but well, his face had been really hilarious.

Glad to have something to hold onto, she leaned on the weapon as she attempted to stop laughing, but it was kind of hard given his enthusiasm. But finally she managed to regain a moderate amount of composure before she grinned first at her weapon, then the man.
"Now if only she could turn into a bow, I'd get a whole Serah thing going."
{ Sorreh, I canna hear you over the sound of how awesome Ah am }
That made the girl chuckle, since it certainly was something her weapon had picked up from her human. But his question draws her attention and she blinks at him.
"Oh! Wrong Way, wow what a name! But uh yeah! Vivi is a lady, a ghost lady. Will'O'The Wisp and all." She held out the weapon to look at it before she bounced her gaze to the crowbar.
"I guess they come in all sorts... Like people! Yanno?" How interesting, she hadn't ever heard of a weapon that didn't chose a specific gender.
"No worries! Viveca likes to be hasty to anger, but I am much more easy going." The girl wrinkled her nose affectionately at her weapon. "Do you know what Wrong Way used to be? Before it uh... Became a crowbar?"

Jacob was a bit embarrassed when Abbi totally lost her composure over his expression, but laughter is contagious. He was soon laughing right along with her. Once their case of the giggle fits settled down, he wiped a tear from the corner of his eye.

"A Will' O the Wisp?" he repeated. His closest encounters with folk lore had been in fantasy mmorpgs, and he was fairly certain that they weren't a good model for what actually existed out there.

And there was a good question!

"Wrong Way was terrifying whatever it was." he said, shivering. He hadn't known that Wrong Way could share pictures with him via this telepathic link, and the image of its former self... Well, you needed a bit of a warning. "Some kind of demon/ghost possessing a statue."

He wasn't going to mention that the image had spawned the nick name Peanut for Wrong Way. (After Jacob had recovered from a severe case of the heebie jeebies.) The weapon tolerated the name from him, but Jacob got the distinct feeling it wouldn't tolerate anyone else knowing it.

"Yeah! Like... OK! Did you ever see that Disney movie with the Scottish princess? Brave? There were will'o'the'wisps in that! The little blue floaty lights!" At the mention of such folly Viveca balked, for Abbi had been quite eager to share the likeness with her ghost only to find that the ghoul did not appreciate it one bit. Half because they portrayed the creatures as cute little fairies and half because, well, they just weren't spooky enough in her opinion. But the teen only continued to plow on in her description. "They're sometimes called ghost lights! But they're basically like... Little glowing orbs that appear in spooky places like moors and big fields and lure travelers off the path. Viveca's was more specialized she was a fau... faubo... A something that deals with ghost lights that haunt blades stuck in the ground." Oh, maybe she should explain that too.
Abbi passed a hand absently over her forehead, screwed her eyes up for a second and shook her head as she continued, trying to remember not everyone knew what she was thinking like Vivi did.
"Sometimes people would... Stick knives in the ground, they thought the ghosts would impale themselves on it. Superstitions are usually... Kinda dumb. But anyways, Viveca's kind of ghost would haunt those perceived protected areas and spook the crap out of people!" Though she was supposed to think Halloween dreadful, Abbi could not keep a deal of pride from her ghost for her cleverness. Even if she didn't like the idea of what she did, she could at least appreciate being smart about it.

A lopsided smile was given after her very loopy explanation, but it disappeared when she noticed Jacob shiver.
"Yeah the uh... The mind thing! They can talk to us and share pictures and stuff and its... Man, it takes some getting used to." Abbi leaned forward onto the pole before her eyes went wide.
"Gosh, so it's like... A weeping angel? Yeesh!" Now it was her turn to shiver, glad her weapon was only some ghost.
Of which she didn't appreciate and thus gave a mental kick to her host.

With a shake of her head to clear the residual anger, Abbi brightened back up.
"So you want some help moving in or anything?"
