No one ever said that Super Sailor Neso was smart. Happy? Definitely. Charming? He had his moments. But the senshi of summer had a tendency to not think things through and was merely fortunate that he had powerful friends who kept him from dying on a regular basis. If any of them had known about his latest hobby, they probably would have already intervened. But they didn't, not yet. And so that was why Neso was at the beach at one in the morning, surfing the waves in his fully powered fuku. The chop was pretty decent that night, a big storm was rolling in, and so the senshi of summer coasted in and out of the waves. No one was on the beach, as far as he could tell. He had jogged to a pretty remote stretch. He had been doing this for weeks now. His photo ended up in the paper, some onlookers had begun trying to camp him out, so now Neso was moving his surf spot nightly. The smart thing to do would be... stop. bluefire dragonz Roll 1d6 for funsies. 1 - You hit misses! 2 - You perform some super cool trick in the water. 3 - A massive wave comes crashing over you! 4 - You get assistance from a dolphin. Somehow. 5 - Wait, is that a shark? That is a shark. It is maybe nibbling you. 6 - Extremely powerful strike!

Cinnabar had heard there was a surfer out on the beach at night, causing a stir, and the picture she'd seen had clued her in to this not being just any person. The fact that he was just... out there, ignoring all good sense of staying out of sight when powered, had made her think maybe this might be a really good chance to score a senshi starseed and hopefully impress her superiors.
Finding the right, beach, however, had proven problematic... there had been some nights she'd waiting out in the dark for far too long with nothing to show for it and Cin had very nearly given up hope on it, which irritated her to no end. One starseed is really not worth this much effort... and I haven't even gotten to fight with the sucker yet.
Tonight luck seemed to be on her side though, because just when she had started to nod off, a powered signature had pinged on her inner radar. The lieutenant grinned as she rolled onto her feet, powering up as she moved out of cover towards the water. It wasn't ideal to fight a guy on the water, but there was a convenient rock right here... and if she got close enough she could probably bean him pretty good.
Darting out towards the water, Cin pushed herself through the surf as she should cranked her arm back to aim for the senshi on his surf board... but didn't count on the giant wave that suddenly surged up before her and bowled her over. She had time for a yelp before she was dragged under, flailing to get back up onto her feet.

That big wave brought a senshi with it, riding on its peak. He thought he spotted the glimpse of a girl go flying into the water. An aura pinged on his radar, some Chaotic, but some people, like Chariklo, had auras like that and were still cool with him. Besides, Neso was not the kind of person to ignore helping a person who needed it. As the wave crested high, Neso leapt off of it, executing a perfect 360 mid-air and then disappearing beneath the waves. His hand found the girl's wrist and he held on, pulling her to to the surface. "Grab the board," he said. "We need to move away from these rocks!" It hadn't occurred to him to figure out if she wanted to hurt him first.

In between flailing about to get her head above water, Cinnabar felt a hand close around her wrist and haul her upwards. She had never considered herself a poor swimmer, but this was just ridiculous... why had it seemed like a good idea to go wading out into the water at him? Arm wrapped around the board for support, the lieutenant shoved hair out of her face as she glared at her savior.
Blonde senshi, kind of hot if you liked sun-kissed surfer dudes (which she didn't, kthnx). Red eyes narrowed as Cin pondering punching him really hard for the embarrassment of being saved by a senshi, but a brush against her leg was ample distraction.
Glancing down, Cin sucked in a breath at the dark shape that circled them, feeling panic set in as she scrabbled at the board they clung to in a desperate attempt to get up onto it and out of the shark infested waters. "******** HELL!" She gasped out, kicking against the water and hopefully anything attempting to take a bite out of her.

Well, so far, so good -- the woman wasn't trying to kill him. Bad news -- she was freaking out. In the darkness, Neso couldn't make out much, but the moon was full and bright. After a moment, he noticed the shape. "Oh, they're like dogs, really," he said. "But... thrashing can make them--" Suddenly, both Cinnabar and Neso were pulled underwater. The senshi of summer started to thrash, accidentally punching the lieutenant in the face. Like a ray of perfect light, the knocking of the shark was interrupted by another shadowy figure. A majestic dolphin. It beat back the shark, clearing the safety of the two powered figures. Neso surfaced, panting. "The shore," he said, and then began paddling hard, dragging his board behind him because, hey, they were expensive. When he finally reached the sand, the senshi of summer collapsed on his back, chest rising and falling, heart racing. bluefire dragonz Change of dice! Still roll 1d6, but if it is odd, it means you had a successful hit on the target and can write it out. If you get an even number, you missed.

Like dogs? "Are you ******** KIDDING ME?" Cinnabar managed before they were suddenly dragged under water and a flying fist smacked her right in the face. Her head snapped back as she thrashed, shoving herself away from the senshi in an effort to get at least a safe distance from him and whatever was swimming around with them. The stars in her eyes from the blow to the head got in the way of seeing the dolphin beat off the shark and the lieutenant broke the surface of the water with a sharp inhale of air.
This was getting to be ridiculous... she had to get out of the water, or this fight was going to be over before she got a single hit on the senshi. In between sweeps of her arms to pull her towards shore, Cinnabar caught a glimpse of the senshi making it and flopping to the sand. As soon as her boots hit the sand, she was stumbling towards him with a thunderous expression, hauling back her arm to drive it down into his stupid surfer face... before the wet sand gave way under her and she slipped, ungracefully falling to land hard on her hands and knees.
"I am going... to ********... kill you." She panted as she took a moment to catch her breath, and her balance. Never in her life had a battle gone quite this badly before and it was absolutely infuriating.

Neso heard the splash and squish of the lieutenant coming on to the shore. She didn't sound happy, but he really, really wasn't looking to fight -- and his eyes had been closed when she was planning to hit him. "Maybe let's not fight," Neso said, trying to sit up. Unfortunately, when he was tried to switch his weight, his leg jutted out toward Cinnabar's feet. It didn't hit her, but it most definitely looked intentional. "That... was an accident," he said, still sitting at her feet.

He hadn't managed to get up from where he had flopped down by the time Cinnabar had gathered herself enough to raise her head and shove herself up to her feet, so the advantage was hers for the moment.
"I'm sorry, pretty boy, but that's exactly why I came tonight." The dark haired woman said as she drew back a fist and returned the punch he'd given her to the face. Despite the instinct to follow him down and keep punching, she didn't, following her training to stay on her feet and mobile. "If you'll be a good boy and lay still for a little bit, I'll have your starseed out in a flash and be on my merry way."

Neso was not exactly expecting the punch. In fact, he was hoping for more of a cuddle. Okay, so maybe the only sort of nice Negaverse agent he had ever met was Chariklo, but Neso was an extreme optimist at heart. He reeled from the punch, grabbing his nose and rolling... and then he just kept rolling until he was back on his feet. There was too much pain to think to attack. "I'd rather not," he said, glancing for any exit strategy he could see.

The quick roll away saved the senshi from another punch, Cinnabar's lips pulled back from her teeth in a snarl of annoyance.
"Too bad, Blondie. You're mine tonight." She said as she rocked back onto her heels and then surged forward again, rushing the super senshi with full intent to take him to the ground and beat the crap out of him... before finally shoving her hand into his chest for his starseed. She could already feel it pulsing in her hand... anticipating the satisfaction of finally getting what she wanted.Akina Tokuwa feel free to hit her hard and then make a run for it!

As Cinnabar continued her assault, Neso began to get that sticky feeling in his stomach. He hated to feel it; it meant bad things. When she reached into his chest, the Senshi of Summer let out a yelp of pain, eyes burning. He flashed into self-preservation mode and landed a fierce punch to the side of the girl's head, completely uncharacteristic from his abilities in the fight so far. His legs pulled up, kicking her backwards. Wordlessly, Neso scrambled to his feet and began to sprint down the beach, aiming to put as much distance between them as possible.

The hit took the lieutenant entirely by surprised, she was so focused on what she was doing. Stars exploded as she felt pain rocket through her head before a strong set of legs drove into her stomach and threw her backwards.
Landing hard on her back, Cinnabar gasped for air as she rolled and clutched her stomach, stumbling instinctively to get out of range for her recovery. By the time she got her eyes off the sand and they'd cleared enough for sight, the senshi was already beating a retreat down the beach and she was left snarling after him, helpless to follow until she'd gotten her breath back and the world stopped ******** senshi... better hope we don't meet again.

Neso ran for a long time. He ran so far that he wasn't even sure where he was, and the cab ride home cost $60 he didn't have. Luckily, one of his roommates was cool enough to pay the fare, even though Bo sensed he was one step closer to being kicked out of the apartment they shared for good. The greatest tragedy of all? He lost his surfboard. sad
