Austin was ecstatic that the wish he and Alura had made had blessed them with a basket. When that basket had opened and revealed a son, he was over the moon. He loved his daughters Calliopi and Roisin, but had always hoped that he and his mate Alura would one day have a son. Now that he did, there were all sorts of things he wanted to teach him and show him about the world.
Today he wasn't teaching, he just wanted to enjoy the company of Darius and Alura, and see what sort of fun or trouble they might get into. It was the perfect day to do so. Clouds dotted the sky and the bright sun overhead warmed the air. A light breeze blew, keeping the hillside cool and airy. Austin and his little family had made their way here to stretch their legs and run free for a while.

Darius trotted along side his father. Bright and curious of the new world around him. He bounced in place when they stopped moving, just to listen to the sound of his hooves hitting the grassy ground below them. He grinned and looked up to his father then his mother. "Are we there? Can I play now?" he asked happily.
He stepped out past the pair and turned around to face them, mostly directing his gaze on his father. He couldn't wait for the response, running forward to bump his head against the blue stallion's chest then running off with a laugh begging for a chase.

She watched her son, and couldn't help but laugh. Oh, how he reminded her of his father when he was a colt! The same energy, the same look of mischief in his eyes. Then again... Alura thought, smirking a bit, Austin still has a bit of that child like enthusiasm and wonder about him. It was just one of the many things she loved about her mate.
"We're here, and of course you can play."

When the excited foal bumped into his chest, it knocked the breath from him. "Ooof" he exaggerated, "you got me!" he called after the playful colt. He looked over at Alura and winked. "Can I play too?" he asked coyly with a chuckle and smile before taking chase after him. He trotted awkwardly, trying to keep his pace slower so as not to overtake the boy. He bucked and jumped, mimicking the actions that Darius was making. He hadn't felt so goofy in a long time, but it was a wonderful feeling. He called back to Alura, "Won't you join us dear?"

The colt laughed loudly after bolting away. The wind whipping his short mane about. Occassionally he glanced back to see where his father was before dashing with a new burst of speed over the grassy hill. Past the highest point on the other side, the colt slid to a stop and waited. When the heavier hoof sounds approached close enough he would pop up with a bounce, "Boo!" A big grin spread his lips, glancing to his mother to see if she too would have been spooked.

Of course, she trotted along beside Austin, glad to see Darius having so much fun. And, of course, she played along when her son, feigning start when he enthusiastically tried to scare them. "Oh! My goodness, Darius! You're so fast, I didn't see where you had hidden yourself."

He watched her as she joined him and then turned his attention to Darius. The foal was trying to hide from them, so he let him have his fun and played along. As he neared, and the colt jumped out at him, he really was startled by the sudden appearance and gasped in surprise. "Oh! Good job son, I wasn't expecting that." He chuckled lightly, looked over at Alura and winked. He looked back to Darius. "Now, let's play a game where you have to catch mom!" He glanced to Alura, "You better run Alura! Little Darius is going to catch you!"
After he issued the challenge, he started running off from them and called back over his shoulder. "If you catch her, then you both have to try and catch me!" He laughed and took off, his long braid and tail flowing behind him as he ran. It was wonderful to have a foal to play with again. He dearly missed that special time he'd had with his girls Roisin and Calliopi. They had grown up way too quick, and so he wanted to enjoy and cherish the time he had with Darius now; to enjoy the wonders of foalhood with his boy.

Darius watched the reaction from his parents and laughed merrily. He listened to his father suggest the colt chase his mother and tease her in the process. He bounced into a quick jog, heading towards her. "I'm going to caaattch yooouuu!" he chimed loudly in a little melody. While he was chasing her, he was also herding her in the direction that Austin ran to keep everyone together and make it easier to then catch up to his father as well.
Though he had only left his basket a few days prior, he was thrilled to have such great parents. He had no reason to complain. The grass had a faint smell of sweetness as he ran over it, catching up close to his mother he could still make out the blue coat of his father not far off ahead of them.

He kept checking back over his shoulder to see where they were, and heard Darius's little sing-song. He laughed, throwing his head back and turned back to watch where he was going, keeping his distance from the pair. He looked for somewhere to hide before the two of them would reach him, spotting a large tree ahead. He might be able to successfully hide his large body behind the tree, if he positioned himself right. Sorry! Tagging again really quick to get Austin stats for August. >.<;

She continued her slow trot, knowing her little colt's plan. She smiled at Austin, as they drew closer. "Oh, goodness! Our son is just much, much too fast for me! I do believe he takes after his father!"
(OOC: I am so, SO sorry! Since October I've been facing one family tragedy after another. I'm back, though!)

The colt laughed and could easily gallop up to his mother and surpass her. Actually he could run a circle around her and he did. "I liiike to be fast!" He chimed and bounced around in pace to his mother's trot. He noticed his father had ducked out of view while the colt's attention was more on his mother. He gave a glance up at her briefly with a big smile then dashed off towards the trees where he had last seen his dad. When he reached the tree line he bounced like a cat next to one tree and peered around. "Daaad" he called out, a few trees from his dad's hiding spot. He trotted around the tree then glanced in one direction then to the opposite direction where he thought he spotted some blue. With another giggle he trotted over to the flash of blue and again he called out "Daaaad!". He bounced around another tree to try and catch his father.Nemesis Valkyrie I understand, hope things are improving for you and family ^.^
