As Mirai stepped through the portal into the Machinist Headquarters, she would be able to hear Matt while the portal was still open. "Oops!" He yelled in alarm, realizing his portal was way off course. "Wait-!" But it was too late. The link to Herald and Emma's realm would be severed as the portal slammed shut, sealing Mirai inside the depths of The Machinist Order.

As Mirai began to walk around, she would be able to hear two long, slow hisses coming from behind her. A massive mound of trash suddenly shifted as two large mechanical creatures slithered over it. They stood at the top, looking down at Mirai even though they had no discernible eyes. Even if they weren't standing above her, they were much taller than her and were adorned with numerous sharp claws and dangerous looking weapons. One of them was a bright, blood-red and the other a cool, cold blue. "Who'ssssssssssssssssss thisssss?" The red one asked the blue one. The blue one slithered slightly to the side. "A hyyybbriddd," the blue one replied. "Waiiit...isss it THE hybrid...?" The red one asked. "Let'sss assssk...." The red one turned to Mirai, looming over her. "Arrre you herr?" It asked. "Are you....Miraiiiii?"

The two creatures seemed to pause as if confused by her answer. "Weee are asking," the blue one replied simply. They both shifted around her slightly. "Caaan you not seeee us?"

The two machine creatures seem to hiss excitedly to each other after Mirai answered. "She issss the hyyyybridd!" The red one said. "The one Saint Clara wantsss dead!" The blue one replied. "Yessss! If we kill her Sssaint Clara might return us to our true formsss!" "Yesss she may give us our bodies back!" The two creatures slithered around to opposite sides of her. "Sssssorry but you need to diiiie!" The two snake machines told her. The red one's two back pincers raised up, glowing red lights appearing in them. The blue one's front pincers unfolded into two wicked sharp blades and its claws extended into the same. The blue one moved first, rushing forward and slashing in four different directions towards Mirai while the red one fired two red lasers towards the girl, expertly aiming to miss the blue one entirely.

The two creatures stopped as they heard Mirai. "Ssssheee claims not to be her....does she lieee?" "She lieees!" "Howwww do you know?" "Would you lieeee?" "I would lieee..." "She lieees!" "Yes! She liessss!" They ignored the comment about their forms being cool, clearly focused on their successful deduction of Mirai's truthfulness and their renewed efforts to kill her. The red one raised all four of its tendrils, shooting expertly around the blue one as it swirled towards Mirai spinning in a full circle with its scythe-like talons out in an attempt to chop her to pieces like a sideways helicopter blade.

"Whaaat?" The red one asked, pausing again. "But asssss Ssssaint Clara said....yesss...she said killl Mirai...." They both hissed at each other for a moment as if trying to figure out something complicated. "IF sheee is not Miraiiiii....why tell usssss she wassss?" The red one asked the blue one. "No....ssssshe would not do that.....she must be Mirai.....if ssssshe wasssn't Mirai then she would neverrrr say that she wasss..." "Yesssss I would not ssssay that I was if I wasss not." "I would not eiiiiitherrrr...." "That would be sillllly..." "Foooolish even...." the two serpents looked back at her. "No, we have deciiiided. You mussst be Mirai..." "Yesss....that isss the explanation....."

The two machine snakes loomed over Mirai again. "Do not try and fool us...." "We are sssmarter than you..." "Yessss, much smarter..." They began to coil around to opposite sides of her again. Whoever they were they were clearly familiar with working together. "No, no, she's not Mirai at all!" a small voice said from off to the side.








A little ways away was a small white cat sitting on a pile of trash with a small smile on her face. She began licking her paws and using them to clean her face. "Mirai was here earlier. You just missed her!" The mechanical snakes hissed at each other again. "Whaaat? Howww do you knowww that??" "Well I saw her silly." "And howwww do you know it wassss her?" "Because she said she wasn't. That's what the real Mirai would do, right? She would try and lie!" "Yessss...but....what if YOU lieee?" The cat gave a small laugh. "Why would I lie? I don't even know you! Besides, I'm a Machinist trapped down here just like you! Don't you think I would want to catch Mirai so I could go back up to civilization?" "Yesss....civilization...." The little cat nodded. "Right! If you catch her put in a good word for me so I can go back up too, okay? We Machinists are here to help each other out!" "Yess....shee helps us and weee help her...." "Weeee both help each otherrrr....it makes sensssse." They both turned to look down at Mirai. "Ssssstay out of our wayyyy Sssssarah.....Mirai is oursss...do not try and claim the credittt!" "Do notttt!" The small cat smiled lightly as the two mechanical snakes quickly slithered off in the direction she had indicated. The cat then jumped down off the garbage pile and walked slowly up to Mirai. "Just for future reference, don't tell anyone here that you're Mirai." She paused as she rubbed a paw over her face again. "That would be silly. Foolish even," she added with a small smile.

The cat looked up at Mirai, keeping a small smile on her face. "You're welcome," she replied. "And why? Well, because I'm like you actually," she told her. "Not a hybrid I mean. I'm a demon. Well, I'd prefer to be referred to as a demoness." Her tail swayed slightly behind her as she looked up at Mirai. "We gotta stick together, right? Those Machinists sure do!"
