It was a day of the week that ended in 'y' so Bo Hanley was out drinking.

On this particular evening, he had been attending the bonfire party at the beach of a girl he met at a grocery store. Mindy? Mandy? M... something. The abnormally tall young man had socialized with everyone, put countless numbers of new friends into his phone, then dropped his phone in the fire on accident, fell asleep in the sand dunes, woke up and couldn't find his ride home, and so now he was walking along the boardwalk, drunk and alone.

His phone was incinerated, and he had no money and no ride.

Good thing he was senshi! For now, he was just enjoying the breezy summer air, but when he was ready to head home, Bo could simply become Neso and jog back. He had done it countless times before. His vision blurred in and out of focus, the effect of too much beer and a few shots of mystery alcohol. Up ahead, beneath a street lamp, he noticed a black and gauzy blur. Had to be a Dark Mirror senshi, which his brain immediately labeled Chariklo -- his one and only DMC acquaintance who was sort of a friend. She was nice, at least, and didn't hit him.

A grin crossed his lips as Bo transformed quickly into Super Sailor Neso, Senshi of Summer. He glowed extra bright since this was the season of his sphere. It was a glorious time to be a senshi for him. With a running start, Neso sprinted over to where he had seen the DMC senshi disappear, dashed around the corner of a closed hot dog stand, and scooped her up into his arms immediately, lifting her high into the air and cradling her against his bare, muscled chest like a baby.

"Surprise!" he shouted to what his drunk brain assumed was Chariklo.

Had Canopus known of the events that occurred before their encounter, she may have been much more understanding to the misunderstanding that was destined to occur. She might not have approved of what her would-be assailant considered a good time, but she was quick to admit that the flaw lied in her, having been raised in the dormitories all her life and becoming a prude. But still, had she known, she would have reacted differently.

Be as it was, however, Canopus simply didn't know, and she had no way of knowing. One second, her radar was clear and the next she felt the Order aura. Even after obtaining her super rank, she was still trying to get a feel for aura sensing and pinpointing where it was coming from, and when she didn't know what to expect, it was all too easy to succumb to her fears. It was Order, a natural enemy, and perhaps a step up as opposed to it belonging to a Negaverse officer, but still, she could not forget that there were White Mooners involved that night. Some could be trusted... but others could not, and Canopus simply did not know what to expect! She hated not knowing. She hated not being prepared! Perhaps she could hide behind the hot dog stand, she told herself, making a quick dash towards it and praying that whoever it was had not seen her...

What she hadn't realized was that he had already spotted her, and just how long his stride was, as by the time she heard someone approaching her, it was already too late. Large, strong arms had suddenly wrapped around her and they squeezed tight, pressing her against what she assumed was a solid wall of muscle. She did what any normal human being would have done in such a situation.

She screamed!

Then, she began kicking and thrashing her arms about, trying to look at her assailant and understand what manner of attack this was. Was she to be crushed in a bear hug?! Was this how she died? Would he take her away to be tortured and interrogated by his fellow Senshi? She didn't know, and that made her all the more feisty in her struggle. "LET GO OF ME! LET GO! AHHHHHHHHH!"

When Canopus began to struggle, Neso began to struggle to hold her upright. He took a punch to the jaw and then simply let her fall to the ground... and hard. "HEY," he said, voice a great deal more tense than it normally was. The senshi still didn't realize this was not Chariklo because now his head hurt from the punching. Staggering forward, he tried to gain his balance, but ending up kicking Canopus in the side instead.

There was hope in Canopus' heart that her struggles wouldn't be in vain, as she felt her fist slam against her assailant's jaw, and while the drop was rather painful on her bottom, she was relieved to be free from his clutches. Who knew what he was going to do to her if he had his way?

His shout fell on deaf ears, but the foot to her side could not be ignored, and fearing that he was going to beat her into submission, she let out a pained gasp and cast her arms to the front, closing her eyes as she shouted loudly. "Canopus Stasis!"

If the attack landed, she'd be giving him some hefty armor but it would at least slow him down and give her a chance to escape. She couldn't fight him! She'd be disappointing Chariklo, but she knew she couldn't fight him! She had to run! It was the only way!

Quote:
Super Sailor Scout Attack: Canopus Stasis.
Sailor Canopus has taken the time to improve her attack. The motions are the same, but the sphere now moves at a faster speed at the opponent, and Canopus has found a way to use this attack on her allies as well. The effects are the updated and are the same for both enemy and ally alike: the wearer’s defense is now tripled, but their speed is greatly hindered due to the cumbersome weight around them. Once again, the effects will wear off in twenty seconds.
• Can be used on enemy and ally
• Can be used twice in combat, but only one opponent OR ally at a time
• Can be dodged
• Effects: Triples wearer’s defense, cuts their movement speed to a third of their original speed
• Duration: 20 seconds

Oh no, this was going nowhere good, and it was all an accident!

"Please, please, this is all a misunderstanding--" A bright sphere flew at him, direct hit, just as he was reaching out to the girl. The sudden weight on him sent Neso tumbling forward, directly into and on top of her. They tumbled to the ground, and he landed on top of her, face inches apart.

The world was spinning. "I thought you were my friend, I'm sorry!" he said. "Chariklo, Chariklo -- oh, what did you do to me? I feel even drunker." His head was heavy so he tried to lay it down... and ending up head butting her.

Oh, Neso, no... just... stop moving.

I had him fall on her, hope that is okay!

The attack connected and immediately worked its magic, engulfing her assailant in a bright orange light and the sight of his movements slowing was a relief to poor Canopus' mind. This would have given her enough time to scramble away and she was set on doing so, grasping the side he kicked with one hand and pulling herself away as fast as she could. Right now, the only thing she wanted to do was get away from this senshi and in her panic, she didn't once consider the ill effects of her actions. It seemed that she was to be the victim of her own hubris, as he came tumbling down, pinning her with his weight and there was no way she could dream of pushing him off.

But that didn't stop her from squirming. If anything, her screams became louder, higher pitched, more frantic in their attempts to draw attention to herself. It was only because of just how uncomfortably close he was that she even heard him at all over her own screams, and it was the name he shouted that finally caused her screams to go silent. Chariklo? Did he confuse her with-

BAM!

The headbutt was effective in stopping her thrashing, and though she was being crushed under his weight, there was little room for fear in her heart. Once the world stopped spinning, she'd get a better look at him, but she managed to sputter out a few words, as she slammed her eyes shut in hopes to fighting off the dizzy spell. "But... I'm not... Chariklo. I'm Canopus... Canopus forever."

Neso did like to be on top of pretty women, but not like this. She was screaming in a bad way. No, no, this was all wrong -- oh god, he didn't want to scare anybody. "I know, I realize -- please, I am not a scary guy. So if you aren't a scary girl, and I'm not a scary guy, then we don't need to be scared of each other, right?" he said, voice strong but shaky. If it were up to Neso, this whole Chaos-Order issue would be solved with a hug and a beer. His duty was to his princess and to goodness, sure, but he was never looking for a fight with anyone.

"Hi, Canopus, I'm Neso, and I'm sorry -- I'm... I'm sort of drunk and I get clumsy when I'm drunk -- also, what did you do to me? I can't... I am finding it difficult to move off of you." One squinted eye cracked open. "Though there are worse things than being trapped on top of a beautiful woman who hopefully has as little desire to hurt me as I have to hurt her." It was a plea, and the Senshi of Summer only hoped that she would accept it.

Otherwise, he was in for an a**-kicking and potential murder. Not his idea of a good time.

He was rambling and her head was still a bit fuzzy from his headbutt, but Canopus understood his tone of voice more than the words themselves. Was it all a misunderstanding? Was he not trying to capture her and bring her to the rest of his senshi for questioning? That was a huge relief, and only then did she finally stop her struggles. Now, she just laid beneath him, trying to curl her hands and feet close to her body and unable to stop herself from envisioning the way the Wicked Witch of the East's legs rolled beneath the house and imagining how similar it might have appeared. With the weight on top of her, she might as well have been crushed by the house...

She let out a meek whimper, before bobbing her head up and down, and only then did she get a good look at him. A real, good, long look at him... and she wondered, how she could have possibly been so terrified before!

He was rambling again, something about being clumsy or drink, and yet, all Canopus could focus on was his bulging muscles, his wonderfully toned skin, even from beneath that orange glow that lingered from her attack. Any moment now, it'd wear off and she could see his form in full, and she had no way of knowing just how red her face was, as she forced herself to look away, resisting the urge to want to snuggle against that chest of his. When she cast her violet eyes away, she managed to understand what he was saying, and she spoke with a quiver, though there was little fear in her voice now. "H-hello, Neso... I'm sorry, that's... my magic. It gives you increased defense, but it slows you down. I'm sorry I attacked you- I was just... you'll be alright, it'll wear off in a few seconds..."

But then nothing would stand between her and him, and their bodies would touch, and... he called her beautiful? She managed to get her hands over her face and she squealed. "Oh, no, no, don't say that! You're drunk- you have to me!"

Neso was immensely relieved to learn that Canopus did not want to hurt him either. That didn't make moving any easier. Each time he tried, he felt like he was only squishing her, or shifting them into more uncomfortable positions. Her voice quivered, which made him want to hug her. So he sort of did, slowly straining to reach his arms out to her waist.

The orange glow faded. His hands suddenly picked up to normal speed. An attempt at a gentle, reassuring hug became a fierce bear hug. His arms clamp over her, crushing her against his chest -- her hand-covered face inches from his own. "You're beautiful, it's no big deal, lots of people are, nothing to cover your face about," he said, easing his hands off of the tight grip and sitting up.

Canopus was still cradled in his arms, sort of seated in his lap now. "Neat trick," he said. "I just... punch people and cause bad sunburn." He pointed a free hand at the air around them. "Extra burnination this time of year, since this is my, like, power sphere." He pointed again. "Summer." Neso wasn't making any move to get Canopus out of his lap.

In truth, Canopus was an easy person to make blush. Whether it was with a simple compliment, or a brush of skin would redden those cheeks of her. She was a very modest and humble girl, she liked to think, and she had so few social interactions with the opposite sex, especially one of Neso's caliber, so what was a girl to do when he hugged her waist?

As promised, the attack faded away and now there was NOTHING between them. Canopus swore all of her blood was rushing to her face now, and she was squeezed so tightly against his chest in that wonderful bear hug that she couldn't shake her head. "I... don't know what to say... t-thank you..."

She wasn't sure how she ended up seated on his lap, but she at least managed to lower her fingers enough so that she could look at him again. He was like a dream... why did the White Moon have to be blessed with such nice and kind senshi? Though he was drunk, he sounded so wonderful, and now that they were talking, she brought her hands to her knees, finally revealing her face again once she was certain that the maddening blushes were gone. "But sunburn is horrible to have... so it can be extremely useful. Especially now. I'm sorry I panicked, Neso... just you startled me."

If all battles resolved this pleasantly, then maybe Neso wouldn't actually mind fighting. The fact that he remained alive now was more about dumb luck and survival instinct than anything else. Maybe he had a Zodiac guardian angel? That would be perfectly lovely.

Canopus lowered her hands, giving Neso a clear look at her face. He smiled, brushing a piece of hair out of her eyes. "I sometimes have that effect on people, what with the running up and hugging you without warning. Excitable type, you know -- what are you doing out here, anyway?"

How could she have possibly been afraid of this man, she asked herself, now that they were sitting down, the atmosphere around them more peaceful and calm as opposed to before. He brushed her hair from her eyes which only caused her blush to flare all the more, but she forced herself not to look away, worried that doing so would offend him or worse that she would have accidentally hit him with her hair ornament or her hair and she didn't want to do such a thing. Why would anyone want to hurt such a kind, sweet person, she'd never know!

She almost missed his question, and she asked, almost meekly, as if she had forgotten what she was doing out here to begin with. Maybe she had? She did just have a pretty harrowing experience! "Just patrolling, I guess. It hasn't been too safe for my kind as of late... and my energy input is a little low, so I was looking for donations. Otherwise, not much... how about you? Are you okay to get home in your... um... condition?"

Neso asked himself that same question every day: Why would anyone want to hurt a cool, nice guy like myself? Unfortunately, many people did. Right now, his favorite of the bad factions was definitely the Dark Mirrors. He had two lovely run-ins so far with two members of their ranks: Chariklo and Canopus. Maybe it was something to do with C-names? Who could say. Neso was just thankful Canopus was being so cool about this whole thing.

The Senshi of Summer completely ignored that bit about energy donations. He preferred not to talk business; it forced him to face the fact that they were on different sides. "Oh, I was at a party. Beach party. I'm all about the beach. Also, parties," he grinned, shifting his weight so that Canopus moved to another angle in his lap. This was sort of an incriminating pose to be caught in by either side -- Order or Chaos.

"I'm good to go," he said at last. "I suited up because I am actually going to jog back. Sort of far, but... no cab fare, buses aren't running, that kind of thing."

A smart senshi would not admit they were on their way home, but Neso was not smart. "It was most excellent running into you though, even if it was literal. Can you tell Chariklo "Neso says hi" if you see her? That would be awesome."

Little by little, Canopus was growing quite comfortable with the situation and she was thoroughly enjoying Neso's company. Her blushes had long since faded and thus made it easier for her to look at him without feeling so embarrassed all the time, and the more he talked, the more she was warming up to the idea of talking to a friend, like Mintaka or Astarte, than a member of the opposing court. Was it strange then that she found her friends among the White Moon Court growing, when her relationship with fellow Chaos in the Negaverse completely dwindling?

"I've been to one beach party recently, but... I'm sure it wasn't as fun and exciting as yours. At least not from where I was sunbathing." Canopus didn't remember anyone drinking so heavily at the one she attended, anyways, but that wasn't a fair assessment considering she wasn't even looking for that kind of behavior at all. To each his own- if that was what some people considered fun, then who was she to judge? Neso apparently had a really good time, minus being kicked and punched by a very skittish Mirror senshi... she'd be fighting that guilt for weeks now. "Maybe one day you can invite me to one of your beach parties?"

Not that she'd go. Oh, the idea of there being so many like Neso there... she felt a nosebleed coming on just thinking about it! She scooted herself off of the Summer senshi and straightened out her dress when it appeared that it was time for them to part ways. She was still concerned for his safety, but if he insisted he was well enough to go on his own, then she wouldn't pressure him. He held his own against a sober Mirror senshi, so it couldn't have been that bad. "Okay, just... promise me you'll be careful. And no more hugs from behind, unless you're absolutely certain it's Chariklo or someone you know, okay? I'll let her know the next time I see her. I won't tell her about our scuffle, though, if that's alright with you. She might die laughing at it and I wouldn't want to risk that."

She backed away without turning around, giving him a shy wave as whatever plans she had for the rest of the evening were gone from her mind. But at least the distraction was worth it, right?

"Until next time, Neso..."

"You are officially invited to all of my beach parties," Neso said, grinning. "Until next time!" With a salute, the Senshi of Summer turned on his heel and jogged off into the darkness.
