There was something just so liberating about feeling the wind whip one's mane around that brought out the simpler pleasures in life. However Raevynn could not be distracted by these. She had a mission that she needed to fulfill. Her mind went back to the meeting that she had been called to weeks ago and her journey since then. She had been tasked with locating a certain individual and she would not rest until she succeeded in her mission. She would pinpoint this individual and then observe before reporting her findings.
There was a small part of her that wanted to rebel against the Soquili that had given her her mission. There was no love lost between her and them but she felt compelled to see this through. There was a sort of irony in her mission as her findings would cause her freedom but cause another to lose hers.

That had been days ago. Now Raevynn was just plain annoyed. The weather had changed and countless storms had forced her out of the skies. She looked at the maelstrom that raged above her with a scowl. There was no way that she would fly through weather like that. The mare gave another even dirtier look towards the sky before ducking into a small cave that she had scouted out for safety. Another delay like this would hamper her search. She could not fail in her task. How was it that her luck had been going so well now seemed to take such a turn for the worse?

At last the storms had cleared off. Raevynn had been going a little stir crazy with being grounded for so long. The mare tested the air before randomly picking a direction in which she wished to travel in. More than not her quarry would not be too easy to locate on her own. She would need to enlist the help of others to gain word of Illyria's whereabouts.
That brought another round of thoughts to her mind. How could Illyria have just taken off like that? The mare shook her head. It was not her duty to think about the why. Red eyes scanned the sky before she moved back into the shelter of the cave she'd been residing in. Soon she would depart the area. There was nothing here that would give her a reason to stay.

For the most part, flying came easily to Raevynn. Being born with wings that could carry her far distances was an advantage. However they paled in comparison of those born of the royal line that she was in service to. Huge wingspans were a family trait it seemed. There was also the matter of seeking out the royal mark as well. That too would set Illyria apart from anyone else. Raevynn sighed in annoyance before taking off into the skies. The weather was perfect for flight today. There was nary a hint of a storm anywhere and that bolstered the mare's spirit.
There was nothing going on below that caught her interest long enough to investigate. The air was crisp with the onset of a seasonal change and Raevynn knew that eventually there would be a need to hunker down over the winter. If the weather here was just as bad at home she wouldn't be flying for a while during the height of the cold season.

There was something about her appearance that was unsettling to the locals. Raevynn sighed once more as she shook her head in disbelief. Others were on their guard when she was around and it was beginning to annoy her. She could not help being partially Kalona. Her appetite leaned more towards being herbivorous than carnivorous but there were times that she did crave red meat. She would never stoop to attacking another Soquili though to appease her hunger.
Hurt flashed through her eyes as yet another individual became instantly defensive. No one was giving her a chance to explain her presence in these lands. Perhaps if she were to start acting like the monster others perceived her to be she would get the answers that she was looking for. It sickened Raevynn to even think like that but perhaps it was what needed to be done.

It had taken a bit of persuasive action but Raevynn finally had a firm direction to travel in. The Soquili that she had cornered and essentially threatened had given her good information it seemed about a large-winged mare that she had seen that had the coloration of winter. It seemed a little too easy for her to snarl and act fierce and that bothered the mare.
How was it that she could tap into her Kalona instincts so readily and then be appalled by her actions later? Perhaps those where questions to ask herself another time. For now Raevynn had another little piece of her puzzle that she needed to solve in order to track down her quarry.

Perhaps it was fated to be that she would never find Illyria. Raevynn had continued in fruitless searching even as spring broke over the lands. The lead that she had had during the winter cold had petered out to nothing. If indeed that individual had actually seen Illyria was another story. She was feeling more and more like a failure. How much longer would she have before perhaps someone else was sent? The mare scoffed at the sight of two love struck Soquili prancing around as she flew over them. Her mind was on trying to puzzle out which direction she should fly next. She was getting tired of this mission. It had hit her more than once that maybe Illyria was already dead. It was treasonous for her to think such thoughts but Raevynn couldn’t help herself. There had been no more information and that was unsettling; unbearable even.

A few days passed and Raevynn had overheard a conversation held between a group of Soquili about witnessing a strange sight of what seemed to be large-winged Soquili arguing. Raevynn perked up and unobtrusively began to eavesdrop. It would be easier to stay hidden at this point as her appearance would more than likely scatter the group. When she caught the fact that the group was composed of all males she sighed. Would it just be another false lead?
There was the chance though that maybe Illyria would seek out these large-winged strangers though. It was a chance Raevynn would take in the next step of her journey. Taking off the part-kalona mare angled her wings and set off in search of this mysterious new group. Perhaps it was folly to go off on another wild goose chase, Raevynn was beyond caring at this point.
