Hey guys, so if you run into people who don't like the kickstarter, direct them here. Also, if you don't mind bumping that thread when you can, I'd appreciate it! <3 Oh, and you can also direct people to donate to the mule. It's been super active so far and I've been sitting right on top of it to accept trades as they come in.

(If) as we near the 55-trillion-look-we-has-moar-goldzzz mark, should we consider using our raised funds to push us over that edge? I don't know how much individual rooms have raised (mine is only at 3.1 billion and wow six months ago that would have been fantastic) but I do propose that we put together a count of how much we, collectively, have raised so we know at what point we'll have the ability to tip us into making more money off this kickstarter.
I do NOT recommend putting any of our funds in prematurely, which is why I ask for a count to see at what point we do the gold dump.
As it may be considered unfair (as some rooms worked to raise more than others) I would suggest using the count also as a method of returning gold to donators before splitting the rest as needed. I mean I get that this ball is made up of fantastic people who probably really don't care, but when you have three younger siblings, fairness becomes an automatic priority so as to avoid screaming and black looks.

I'm not terribly good with math, but would that benefit us in the long run? I suppose it would? I'd have to get someone much smarter than me. I'm not worried about it reaching the mark, but if we're in the last days, and we have to, I wouldn't be totally opposed. I'm looking to make as much fundraising as possible... with as little benefit to the admins as possible because I'm always angry with the way they handle things but shhhhh I didn't say that.

PS: To anyone that's unhappy with my decision concerning the kickstarter, I am free and open to conversation. Or heck, if you need a punching bag because this stuff gets frustrating. I am concerned about you guys as real people first, the Ball second, and Gaia... last. So if you want to point out concerns and tribulations, feel free to talk to me. I can explain my reasons and we can work together to make this work.
Also, if you are sick of handling damage control, you don't have to. I don't want to force anyone to bust their butts to cover up something that's my cross to bear. It's completely a choice and I promise, I will continue to work at damage control.
AND! Some people, no matter how good the cause, are going to be angry. Because it's a KICKSTARTER. And Gaia's known for doing dumb things with Kickstarters, like add gold gens when they're over. If you get people who are still very angry and aren't understanding, it's not a failure. Some people have their own separate reasons why they hate the Kickstarter (mainly with Gaia's policies and the way they run things and not the Ball itself) and they won't budge. The best thing we can do is try.
Thanks everyone. I love you guys, and thank for working with me. I know I just dumped a lot of crap on your side of the court. I promise it will pay off.

I'm looking to make as much fundraising as possible... with as little benefit to the admins as possible because I'm always angry with the way they handle things but shhhhh I didn't say that. So I just did the math; if we want to profit off the gold dump, we have to dump a number LESS that 13.75 trillion. That means we can dump once we've hit 42 trillion, but I'd suggest waiting until 45 trillion.
Quick question, are we currently making gold off the kickstarter, as people donate? And if so, how much- 25%, 50%? (Just curious.)
It occurs to me now that once we hit 45 trillion, so long as we are actively gaining funds (even it it's only 25% of what's been donated) and are not waiting for the end of the kickstarter to be given those funds, we don't even need to worry about pooling our existing funds because we'll only need 10 trillion and the mule will have 15 trillion.
The only instance in which this DOES NOT WORK is one in which we only begin earning the additional 25% AFTER hitting the 55 trillion mark; where we only get the original percentage of the 55 trillion and the extra 25% only on funds raised afterwards.
So...say we're currently actively getting 50% of what the kickstarter garners. If my last point is the case, then we would get 27.5 trillion of the first 55 trillion and then 75% of any later funds. In this case, we would not want to do a gold dump. If we want to profit off a gold dump, then when we hit 55 trillion we need the 27.5 trillion AS WELL AS the additional 13.75 trillion- for the extra 25% to apply to ALL funds, including those already raised.
I hope that didn't make your brain hurt too much. ^^;And yeah I get it I'm actually leaving Gaia after the ball for recolor.me because of Gaia's s**t. I figure I'll maybe start an annual ball over there.

Currently we are only getting 25% but I have little doubt that we'll reach the 55trillion. If not, we're still making a lot, and we're getting direct donations. So I'm happy with it. 3. I was about to say "What's Recolor.me?" but then I looked it up and OH MY GOSH. THANK GOODNESS. A GAIA LIKE THING THAT HAS IT'S STUFF TOGETHER. I've been looking for one in case Gaia tanks.

So it looks like the only question is whether the extra 25% is retroactive or not. And hey, maybe it won't matter. <3
Yeah, it's actually made by Tekton- the guy who made tektek. As soon as I heard that I was like 'oh it's a person who knows how to make a good site and understands the pain of Gaia refugees' and ran over to ooh and ahh over it.

I'm more frustrated than worried, but whatever, I'm used to being frustrated over Gaia nowadays. Been here long enough to be sure we used to enjoy the site a lot for free; and now it turned into an endless circle of gold boosting cash stuff followed by endless gold sinks. In other words, themselves create the economy unbalance they (pretend to) balance afterwards.

They like to screw things up even more than they already are. All I'm worried about is getting through this ball and getting as much gold as possible for continuing this Ball... if Gaia keeps going. I'm probably going to quit pretty soon aside from maybe cohosting for the AURB once or twice and the RPs I have left. We'll see.

The ten announcements a day about GC, the lack of NPC interaction, the loss of community feeling. I don't care all that much about inflation aside from fundraising for the ball. Not having fancy items is fine. It's everything else.

Not having fancy items is fine. It's everything else. I'm one of the oldest Gaias, being here since the very first year -in fact, could've been even earlier, as someone I knew back then in the Live Journal was one of the very first Gaians (Nozomi Seijutsu). And in all this time I never spent a single penny on the site. First, back then, cuz I couldn't. Nowadays, cuz I don;t feel like to. It doesn't feel like helping the forum/site I learned to love to improve, it now feels like feeding the hungry carnivorous plant from the shop of horrors...
