Eternal Senshi

She appeared near the grounds of Destiny City University—a slight figure dressed in white and a full red train, her fair hair a mass of curls draped over her right shoulder. Even under the deepening darkness of the night sky, she lit up the immediate area with a soft golden glow, like a nightlight set out to guard against the shadows and the nightmares. Upon her forehead shined the symbol of her people—long dead though they all might be—and from her palms glowed a flowing energy.

Ganymede dismissed her Senshi phone to subspace as soon as her booted feet struck solid Earth, heaving a sigh into the humid night air as she rolled her shoulders free of tension and glanced around to get her bearings. It was late and home was calling for her; she longed for sleep and hoped tonight to find a peaceful oblivion, rather than the dark dreams that had taken to visiting her as of late.

With her senses on high alert these day, it was only moments after her arrival that she caught the aura of a General nearby. Ganymede summoned her phone again almost as soon as it vanished, peering into the night to seek out any incoming figures. She did not immediately hear anything that might alert her to a battle or other such danger nearby, but after her encounter with Laurelite—not two months past—she could never be too careful.

“What do you want?” she called into the darkness, her thumb poised over her phone, ready to call for backup at a moment's notice.

He hadn't been planning to run into any senshi tonight, he didn't care for fighting this evening, but he was out gathering energy on campus grounds from those who lived here or were here late night for whatever other reason(s) they might have. He hadn't done this, drained from university students, in awhile so figured it was safe. It wouldn't seem like something he did often, as it wasn't, and people wouldn't hunt here when looking for him. laying down the fourth person of the night, tucking them behind some bushes, he paused for a moment. Startled at the signature he felt. "Eternal..." And something more, something else.

He didn't know what else he was picking up on but standing from where he was crouched he made his way toward it. Tilting his head as he heard a voice call out into the darkness, it was really a nice cool night. "Me? Nothing at all - I assure you." His voice was low, not wanting to break the evening calm, with a note of something else to his voice. He wasn't out for nothing but he didn't want anything, especially from a senshi, so he wasn't lying when he answered the senshi who called out into the darkness.

"And you senshi? What is it you want?" He countered a moment later. Might as well ask the senshi what they wanted, since they'd asked him.

The voice sounded vaguely familiar, though perhaps a bit lower than usual. Definitely male. Was he disguising it on purpose? She doubted any General who knew her would bother. Then again, she didn't think of herself as much of a threat to anyone. Perhaps they felt differently.

Ganymede snorted derisively, crossing her arms over her chest as the General approached. She squinted slightly as if to see through the darkness more clearly, but it was of little help. So she stepped closer. Not nearly close enough to be within reach—she knew better than to put herself in range of a weapon—but it should be obvious that she had no intention of backing away. Not yet, at least. She'd had enough of playing the coward. If she could face a General Queen with defiance, she could show some courage in the face of a General.

“I don't want any trouble, that's for sure,” she said. “And trust me, you don't either.”

It was a promise as much as it was a threat. She didn't sense an immediate danger from this General, but if it came down to it she was prepared to defend herself against him.

Another step and she could just make out a few details of the General's uniform. Dark blue jacket. Tall boots. Silver detailing.

“Benitoite,” she observed. “I should have known. It's been a while. How's the Negaverse treating you these days, hmm? Still playing the part of the blind sheep? That was a pretty good show you guys put on during the blackout. Didn't end too well for you, though, did it? Too bad you can't even trust one another any more than you seem to trust the Dark Mirror Court.”

As he came into view for the senshi said senshi came into view for him. This was one he'd crossed before, almost killed their loved ones, and knew it. Slowly an all too comfortable smile drew itself across his fair features, something like a cat which had gotten the bird and the creme. "Now, now it's rather rude to assume what someone wants and doesn't want. Although you are correct. I am here merely gathering energy." He was confident in himself and willing to admit to what he'd done. The senshi didn't want trouble either so he felt safe enough in what he was here doing tonight, and admitting to it. Would they suddenly change from not wanting trouble to wanting to start it? Well, only one way to find out really.

Though here did seem some underlying threat to the senshi's words...a promise of sorts. How interesting, this senshi seemed to have changed a bit since there last encounter.

"I'm glad to see you remember my name. Did you know that Benitoite is a lovely blue stone, only found in one mine - here in this country actually. It's rather lovely." He stated in an off handed manner. he'd gone and looked up the stone for which he was named, a while back, and found it to be a lovely stone and somewhat rare.

"It's treating me just fine - why would it not be? Just because of one member who betrays our own in front of the enemy?" Shaking his head he gave a snort of laughter. "No, I'm well. The one who betray Bischofite has been...handled. Though they are certainly still alive, I wouldn't sink to their level, I do hope they've learned a lesson or two. They'll likely carry a visual reminder for life." Like Tsui had scars from his weapon. He was hoping Avalon would be scared for life after the encounter they'd had, he would take pride in that. He knew he'd likely be scared for life, or at least a very long time, from the wound he'd suffered at her hand. "I've never been a blind sheep. I joined this war of my own free will and I continue to follow of my own free will. Do not think I have not had my up's and downs and wavered if only slightly. I had steeled myself and fight for my own reasons. I do not fight because I am told to like some well trained dog, or sheep as you put it." Stepping closer as he spoke he raised one hand, fingers combing through his loose hair. The ashen locks fell about his face in a messy sort of haphazard manner.

"I fight for my own reasons, with purpose, and based on the story of the ancient past I have heard. I question, doubt, distrust, and feel other things that a sheep surely would not." He was not some robot or sheep, or anything else which did as commanded in a blind manner. He knew he was speaking more than he should, saying things which he shouldn't, speaking of how he had been weak in his loyalty at times, but he cared little for that at the moment. He wished to defend himself and his humanity.

"The fight ended well enough for me...." He'd come out of the fight alive and though injured they'd healed. Did they mean you as in him personally or did the senshi mean you as in the Negaverse. If they meant you as in himself did they mean physically or had they seen his break down and mean that? He hoped it was not that. He hadn't had the topic brought up with a senshi, or knight, and didn't care for it to be brought up by the enemy.

"Unlike some I trust the dark mirror court. I give my trust to individuals rather than a whole. The members I know I trust." Stopping not that far from the senshi he took the time to observe them and look them over. How interesting the changes he could see. "Tell me...what happened to you?"

A drawn out scoff dragged its way up Ganymede's throat and out of a mouth set to advertise how utterly unimpressed she was by Benitoite's response. “It's always the same with you,” she said. “You say one thing but your actions don't ever seem to back it up. The more you insist that you're not a sheep without showing me some concrete proof, the less I believe you.”

She knew the one he was speaking about in relation to Bischofite must be Avalon. Though that was a situation she could not admit to understanding in its entirety, and though she held no fond feelings for Avalon herself, she also didn't think Avalon had been wrong to turn on Bischofite. Nor had she been the only one, from what Ganymede could remember.

In any case, Ganymede wasn't in the mood for a debate over Bischofite or Avalon or the Negaverse's actions or inactions in that event. She shrugged the topic off as if it no longer mattered and turned instead to Benitoite's question regarding her current appearance.

“You mean Laurelite didn't tell you?” she feigned surprise. Truthfully she was a bit relieved that news hadn't made its rounds yet. “Wow, you'd think a General Queen'd want to keep her troops updated, or maybe you're not high up enough on the totem pole to be in the know. You poor Generals. You do all the hard work and your General Queens don't tell you anything. You see what I mean about you being blind?”

She might have felt bad for him if he hadn't been so self-righteous. As it was, Ganymede showed him a mocking smile, standing with her arms cross under her breasts, feet slightly parted, and hip jutting to one side.

“Laurelite tried to corrupt me,” she explained quite matter-of-factly. “Needless to say, she failed.”

Tilting his head he gave the blond haired senshi a smile, amusement shining in his slate hued eyes. "And you would know everything I say and every action I make? As well as every inaction?" He questioned while tapping a booted foot on the ground. "Without knowing such things how can you properly proclaim me a sheep? We've only seen each other a few times and you've passed judgement - how...quint." The last word said with more of an upturn to his lips even though his nose also went up into the air. "I may do the same but I do not call you all sheep and assume you all follow orders. Though I do believe your side to be lacking so much in organization that such wouldn't be an issue anyway." And he felt their lack of organization didn't help, but perhaps hurt, the other side in this war.

"I suppose though we can't help but judge people based on so little - we all do it." Giving a dismissive gesture with his right hand, which he'd just raised to perform the rather flippant gesture.

Shifting his weight from one side to the other the blond let the back of his right hand pillow his right cheek as he observed, and listened, to the senshi of lust speak of what had happened to her. "If your looking to insult me I suggest you give up, or try harder. I'm a busy person and our General Queen is aware of that. I've other, more important, things on my plate and thus being called in to hear about you, or any senshi, really isn't that important to me." Shrugging his shoulders gently. Would the senshi before him think, realize, that he was speaking of some sort of plans he had and was running? Doubtful. He did wonder if the information had been written down somewhere, he figured it had been as they kept fairly good records.

He didn't mention how much work the Generals did, or didn't do, and how little or how much work the General Queen's did. He couldn't comment on that, unsure of all the duties of their General Queen's and General King's. It wasn't as though he went rout with them for tea/coffee and sit and chat with them, he wouldn't want to unless it was Laurelite in all honesty.

"I can see that if failed...not something I'm displeased with. While you have attacks that would be useful I'd rather not work side by side with you...I doubt you'd be all that useful; than again I could of course be wrong - though I doubt it." If it was a corruption by force he was sure he was right and if it was by the others wish...well he doubted that would ever happen.

Ganymede responded to much of Benitoite's response with a dramatic role of her eyes. To her it sounded like little more than bravado. She didn't even consider that Benitoite might be planning anything, because to her he'd never come across as much of a planner. No, that was Bischofite's role to fill in her mind. The rest, though often as dangerous, hardly seemed as capable; they scurried around like ants doing their superiors' bidding.

She was quickly growing tired of the conversation and it had only just begun. They were both spouting the same rehearsed and overused lines. There was nothing new or fresh or unpredictable about it. It felt so routine. Approach one another, greet one another, insult one another, question one another's capabilities. It was exhausting and hardly entertained her anymore, if it ever had in the first place.

“You know what? You bore me, General Ben,” she said, frustrated with the encounter. She heaved a sigh and propped her hands onto her hips. “It's always the same with you. Hell, this entire war is hardly any different. I can't remember the last time I was surprised about anything.”

Perhaps she was becoming jaded. Earlier events in her life as a Senshi stood out starkly in her memory, but the last few tended to blend together unimpressively. The doppelgangers and Eclipse Queen were just another Ice Queen. Wolframite's bid to rid the world of the Dark Mirror Court was just another ambush—and an unsurprising failure at that. The blackout and subsequent battles had hardly been any different. Another warehouse, another fire, another mad attempt at destruction.

Often Ganymede wondered if the predictability should be preferable, but it left her weary.

“Okay, okay, I'm not worth anything to you guys, great, fantastic, tell me something I don't know,” she continued. “We've had this same conversation how many times now? Why don't we try something different? Drop the big bad General act and talk to me like a human being. Or do you not know how to do that anymore?”

"It's always the same with you as well, with everyone from your side in fact." he stated, unknowingly agreeing with the blond senshi compleatly. it was a well done dnace but the same dance time and time again. The battles he could get ost in, find differences in them, but the run in's were al lthe asme. The one on one fights were the same aside from powers used. He honestly couldn't say if it was a good thing or a bad thing. but it was why at times he didn't care to fight whilst other times he sought them out and wished for them. No steps were taken forward nor backward in this war. it was at a stand still as far as he was concerned; and it was boring.

Someone needed to make a move, a big one, and do something! Some ground needed to be gained by one side and lost by the other, and he hoped his side was the one to gain the ground.

"Talk to you like a human...alright. What would you like to talk about then? Pick a topic...ask a question. I may not answer it but I may as well. I don't lie however, I find I'm rather terrible at it." Shrugging, or perhaps rolling, his shoulders as he spoke. "If I trusted you I'd offer to teleport off for a few minutes in order to get us drinks; to make this more comfortable. but I doubt you trust me and I don't completely trust you." Even if they had run into each other how many times now?

Tilting his head he glanced about and tapped his foot a few times. "We could, if you like, find a better place for this. I'm unsure if you'd trust me enough to teleport us both but I offer it anyway. A neutral change of scenery, if it pleases you." He could be the big bad General but apparently there was more to him, something nicer.

Ganymede wanted to counter that she was not like her allies, that she didn't believe in the same things they believed in, or fight for the same things they fought for, that she was still an individual, but it seemed a moot point and only liable to continue the bickering she was already tired of, so she held her tongue.

“You're right about that,” she said instead. “I don't trust you. I sure as hell won't let you teleport me anywhere. There's no telling where you'd take me.”

Certainly her confrontational tone was far from a step in the right direction, but she could not help her distrust. If she had trust issues with Senshi and Knights on her own side it was only natural that her lack of faith in the enemy be ten times as strong. Benitoite had never given her much reason to place her trust in him, after all. She remembered all too well his hand grasping Maia's starseed, sinking into Valhalla's chest.

Ganymede shifted on her feet, never taking her eyes off of him lest he suddenly decide talking was beneath him and make a go for his weapon. She wore an expression of mild distaste even as she made attempts to remain moderately civil.

“I think right about here is just fine,” she concluded. “But if you want to walk somewhere else, I won't be opposed to that. As for what I want to talk about, I don't know. Nothing, really. What's there to say? You've hurt my friends, killed innocent civilians, and you work for people who seem hellbent on destroying the city which, despite what many of you might believe, is our home as much as it is yours. We were born here just like you were. We have parents and families. The only reason we have to come out at night is you and your monsters.”

he wasn't surprised the senshi didn't trust him, wouldn't take up the teleporting offer, but he had made the offer anyway. It was a pointless offer but it had been polite to offer it anyway, and he did have some manners even in a war. Making a motion with his hand he tilted his head a bit in a motion for her to lead the way. "Then we shall walk, after you." He would, of course, follow at her side. but let her lead the direction, it didn't bother him where they went so long as he wasn't led into some sort of trap. he didn't feel like being jumped by several people tonight, even if he were to have some advantage which would permit him a win in such a situation.

"I don't expect you to trust me. You're the same as me, you don't trust me and I don't trust you. However I will, as I said, answer anything you might like to ask me...well nearly anything. Some things I cannot answer as I may not posses the answer or I may be unable to do so. Either way you can ask and you may learn something. Maybe I'll come up with questions for you as well." As he moved he was careful in unclasping his cape and draping it over a shoulder and his coat came next. With the removal of those two garments he didn't look as short as he normally did. The two long garments seemed to do him no good when it came to looking intimidating as they made him seem shorter than he already was, and he did lack in height really.

"I wasn't around for the beginning of this nonsense. but I wonder who did come first, which side, and why. I wonder what made the first senshi, kngihts, Negaverse officers fight in this war. I wonder what convinced them to start a war - to join a war. When everything was peaceful. I joined after things had started to go to...hell." The last word was said after a pause, as if trying to find some nicer word to use. Having not found a nicer word he'd had to use it and his distaste for it was obvious in the tone of his voice and the facial expression he made as well. "But to be the first ones, to take the peace and shatter it so..I wonder what made them do it, what motivation and what words convinced them that something was going on...when nothing seemed anything but peaceful. What would convince normal teenagers of all of this." There was no proof to anything said surely. By the time he'd joined there had been.

"By the time I joined it looked like a bad attempt at Harry Potter meets something else." And toss in people in skimpy uniforms/skirts and there it was. it wasn't normal and the city already was suffering as were the civilian populace.

“Ladies first, hmm?” Ganymede said with a roll of her eyes.

Nonetheless, she began walking, taking a few small, slow steps at first to make sure Benitoite intended to follow at her side rather than her back, before her steps came more easily to her. She had no destination in mind and picked a random direction without a thought for what they might find along the path. If anything she simply craved movement. She felt full of energy, as she often did these days, and her nerves tended to fray when she spent too long without adequate activity.

Her hands left her hips and dropped to her sides as she went, the skin still conspicuously alight, her palms no longer concealed beneath her black gloves as they'd been before her battle with Laurelite. A careful observer might have noticed a portion of scar along the areas of her upper back her draped collar exposed, sinking from her right shoulder down beneath the stiff white bustier that before had been a simple corset lacking in proper support for her growing bust.

“According to the Moon Queen's granddaughter it started because the Prince of Earth and the Moon Princess feel in love, and someone or something on your side wasn't too happy about that,” Ganymede said. Her voice sounded somewhat mocking, but it was unclear as if she were mocking the story or Benitoite himself.

“Beyond that, I couldn't tell you much about the war now,” she admitted. “By the time I awakened it'd already been going on for a while. Years and years, if some of the stuff I've heard is true. Started decades ago in Japan and ended up here for one reason or another. I awakened right before Elysion.”

Ganymede paused and wondered if that might be too much information, but inevitably shrugged it off. There wasn't much Benitoite would be able to glean about her identity with that little tidbit.

“What do you drain energy for?” she suddenly asked, figuring she may as well take him up on his offer. “What makes it necessary? I don't see how its been doing you much good against us. If anything it just gives us more of a reason to fight you. Starseeds too. What's the point of taking them if you can just as easily slit our throats?”

As tonight seemed to be a night of trusting each other, and talking over information, he kept to the arrangement and walked at the senshi's side. "Yes, indeed - ladies first." he stated as he glanced over to the other at his side. The uniform was certainly interesting and while skimpy it had some flare to it, unlike some other uniforms he'd encountered. Some uniforms, even knight uniforms, he had to wonder about and even, at times, feel bad for them due to weather and temperatures.

The pieces of his uniform which had been removed now easily draped over one forearm and were pressed to his chest. He looked as formal as ever but at least he looked more relaxed and perhaps a bit taller. He didn't look as stuffy and he wasn't going to overheat as he feared he might in his uniform. Nodding his head as the senshi of lust began to speak he felt his lips tugging upwards into a smile. "I had heard that as well. The love story part although it was a little different. or perhaps with more to it. But at least we both have heard the love story part and who the love was between." Which meant both sides were on the same page with that, at least those who knew the story, and that was good he supposed. It hopefully meant that it was more likely to be the truth and have actually been the case back then; so long ago.

"I see, and when I joined it was obvious something was wrong in this city." So this senshi didn't know what had started things in this time or which side had started it - how disappointing. he would like to know this, he felt it was important, in order to better grasp and understand this whole war. Even now, three years into the war, and he sought answers to some things. He sought information, to learn, and understand better. This was just one of many things and this was a very important thing.

"Tell me about Elysion? I've not heard about it. I'd like to know, I want to understand whatever I can about this war, to know it all better." he spoke as he looked at the other, sincere slate eyes watching the other. he wasn't just a violent, energy draining, General with a spear. There was more to him; always had been.

Turning away he tilted his head upward for a moment. "Energy draining goes to many things, some I'm unaware of. I do however know that in a battle it can help us. We can use energy gathered to help us regain abit of lost energy in a fight and even heal up the very minor things though starseeds are used for that more and do a better job of it. Aside from those uses, which is why some of us carry energy or starseeds on our person, the youma need energy and starseeds to continue on. I suppose you and yours would ask why don't we just kill them, or let them die, but why kill or let your allies die? They also were once human..." The one hand at his side, the other was at his chest keeping his clothing in place, clenched in memory of Bazzite and even what had happened to Bischofite. "From what I was told many of them fought in the original war, were made into youma during it. For me it's like respecting a war vet and showing them proper respect; even though I don't think most understand it. I've seen some though, who can talk as we can, who can think and plot, who can play music and serve drinks and while no longer human seem to display some qualities even if only in the form or plotting and thinking as well as proper communication." Those were the ones he felt closer to, felt more toward, they were closer to humans and what they once had been. They were like Bazzite.

"There is however a downside, at least for us, to ingesting both energy and starseeds. Too many starseeds can form an addiction to them and lead into what can happen if too much energy is consumed in a short period of time. Both can lead to a person becoming a youma...to too much energy overwhelming the person." So it wasn't done lightly, at least not by some, as it was a risk and there was a dangerous side to what they did. It wasn't something they could just do all the time for the sake of it.

"Why kill you in the way you mention when a starseed can help us as well as eliminate an enemy? I'm sure some senshi and or knights would do it if if it were something they could do. After all I'm sure you're side as members as dark as you think we are." Shrugging his shoulders as he turned his upturned head to the other. "Does that answer your question sufficiently?" There was nothing negative to his tone, in fact his words were light and softly spoken. Right now was not the time to be his usual self; this was a simple conversation.

“Touché,” Ganymede mumbled in response to one of Benitoite's last comments. There were indeed members of the White Moon who didn't quite live up to the purity their classification as 'White' might lead one to believe they carried.

Then again, what was purity? Who in life was pure?

The rest of the information she filed away to be considered when she had more time to adequately process it. That youma had once been human did not sit well with her, as they were the only creatures of Chaos (other than the Dark Mirror Court's energy draining dementors) that she could bring herself to dispose of. To her, they were little more than mindless monsters. They prowled the streets bringing harm to innocent people and leaving a path of destruction in their wake. Surely they among all the agents of Chaos were beyond saving. She'd not yet heard of a youma regaining what humanity it may have once had.

“I suppose that answers it, yeah,” she said, though she thought there must be some information missing. There were individual benefits to energy draining and starseed ripping, but as there also seemed to be a downfall to extensive consumption it seemed apparent to her that more energy was drained and more starseeds were ripped than an individual could safely use.

So then what happened with the rest of it?

It was on the tip of her tongue to ask, to push for more; despite what Benitoite had said about being unaware of those other uses, being so high up within the ranks, he must at least have some vague idea. And if not... she stood by her 'blind sheep' observation.

But he'd asked a question of her, and as he'd answered her own questions she thought it was only polite for her to respond.

“Elysion... it's a dream world, I guess,” Ganymede said. Her shoulders lifted in a quick shrug, like she was trying to brush it off as unimportant. “I never bothered to find out much about it aside from what I was able to see when I was there. I don't know if any of your people have talked about it, but they were definitely there, too. Some nights I'd go to sleep and I'd end up there already powered up. There was a field, and a volcano, and this place that was all ice. Obviously we fought one another. Any injuries we got in the dream world carried over in the real world when we woke up, so... I'm sure the people who died there never woke up. I don't know why we were all brought there or what the point of it was. Kinda like no one really knows how all those civilians ended up at the Surrounding. Probably some big, cosmic joke to have us all hating one another even more.”
