Ahoy There Guildmates!

Comments are perfectly fine

Gosh, I'm not used to typing in a journal sweatdrop
So I figured, why not make this helpful? 3nodding

*Clears throat*
I was born with a genetic disease called
Spinal Muscular Atrophy.

It's kinda rare and varies in its severity.
razz I happen to be Type 3.
Which means I can still walk and get around relatively easy.

Though I do have a wheelchair heart

confused My brother had type 2/3,
and his life span ran out at 18 last year.

I say 2/3 because he walked till the age of 10.
Then he couldn't anymore, so he went from Type 3 to 2.
See, as you get closer to Type 1, life...gets a bit closer to death.

sweatdrop Okay, basically it's a disease where all your "voluntary"
muscles die off. What I'm saying is,
If you can move it, that's considered voluntary.

razz The brain is a muscle but I cannot move it, so it wont die.
The heart is a muscle, but i cant move it, so that's fine too.

Those are the only ones that will be perfect.
Lungs or tongue aren't so lucky.

As of now, I cannot move my left eyebrow
and portions of my right foot.

emotion_yatta I am just like everyone else and
all i want is to make everyone happy User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

sweatdrop
I'm still exhausted from going out once.
It's ridiculous!! scream I have the stamina
of a 90 year old jogger with crooked hips.

Oddly neutral I know for sure,
going out more often would build up my endurance.
BUT! emotion_facepalm the catch is,
I'm not allowed out when I'm low on energy....

So, I have to either sleep for the entire day
or try and fool my mom into thinking everythings fine.

sweatdrop Sleeping isn't impossible at least.

Ah, I'm so glad you posted this. Helps us understand a lot better. I'm really sorry to hear about it. I mean I knew something was wrong.. but now I know what. So there must not be a cure. Is there any hope of any breakthroughs with it or anything? Possible cures? You are definitely like everyone else.. but unique in your own way too. We all are or it would just be boring.

Na, I think they're working but
as far a breakthrough I haven't heard anything sweatdrop

Treatment is usually symptomatic 3nodding
Which is like,

Bad lungs: take this
Sore leg: take that
Bad Back: use this device

There isn't a one pill fix for anything razz

Ah. Well you never know what may come.. I sure hope they find a cure. I hate to see so many people suffer. I've had a lot of friends and family with different medical conditions. I think we all do.. so many things can go wrong with us humans. I like to think now that there's a cure for everything in the Amazon. Or maybe in our DNA. If I had a lot of money I would donate a lot to medical research.

I know it might seem odd to say but
sometimes I feel extremely lucky sweatdrop
In my heart, i hope they find a cure.

neutral Not for me. For the babies born with type 1.
They rarely survive past infancy.
They need it, i sure don't.

Aw, that's so sweet of you. And yes you are lucky. I am extremely lucky and I am starting to tell myself that more and more. I get sick a lot and feel tired or weak a lot but it could be so much worse.

Like when you said the reason you couldn't leave the house. I felt like a jerk because I take my freedom so lightly. Like I don't think enough about how much opportunity I have compared to others.. yet I waste it. Steven Hawking can't walk or talk and he's a bagillion times smarter than me and done so much for humanity. I have two working legs and can speak clearly with no help.. I've done nothing in my life. I don't need to beat myself up over it but I feel like I need to do something active to change.. something! Not even the world. Maybe just some people. But I want to make a big impact, not just advice and someone who cares. Like some real change! Esh, sorry. This is your journal and I'm going on and on. xD

Hey hey!
You gotta get your strength up!
The journey you will take sounds exhausting!!! emotion_drool

There's no need to beat yourself up at all,
I won't hear of it >: 3
My mom and I often discuss people who
are whole and it makes us upset cuz we both know
how very valuable energy and life can be.

Honestly, just hearing the fact that
you acknowledge the importance is enough for me emotion_hug
You don't need to live everyday as if it were your last.

All you have to do,
is live everyday as if it belongs to you emotion_kirakira
If you want to sit online and nom cookies,
Do it emotion_yatta

Happiness in a day
is a great goal.

Well yes, you are right. I like your encouragement for me to do nothing, haha. Happiness is the most important thing. When I'm done focusing on all this moving though, I dunno. I need to think about what I want to contribute to the world. Been thinking about being someone important lately. Maybe an anthropologist.

Got a sleep study on the 29th xp

Not much to be scared of.
One of those rare appointments that
doesn't involve needles emotion_yatta

Mostly just interesting emotion_kirakira
I'll go sleep in a lab after leaving home at around 7 or 8 pm.

When I get there, they'll hook me up,
turn on the camera and watch me sleep 3nodding

If it turns out, that
I stop breathing in my sleep sweatdrop

They will prescribe me a machine to help with that.
*Fingers crossed*
Hope I don't actually have that problem.

Finished my sleep study whee

Was a bit more work than
I thought it would be.
The lady spent at least half an hour
hooking me up to devices gonk

One was a giant, rectangular
battery pack that hung from my neck.
There were patches on my legs,
heart, and all around the shape of my face.

My scalp was hooked up as well
and I was expected to sleep without
ripping off anything scream

To top it all off,
once I was 100% hooked up....
I had to pee eek

emotion_facepalm Needed to carry everything
super carefully or the gel that was holding
every wire to my skin and hair would rip off.

crying
I'm so freakin tired.
Went to a random hair salon
and the lady washed my hair.

There is NO resistance in my neck scream
To imagine this, picture a cooked spaghetti noodle,
try to stand it up with a meatball on top.

Then take your hands,
cover em in shampoo
and try to wash that meatball,
while im trying to keep my noodle neck from movin scream

stressed I know I know,
the lady doesn't realize i'm in pain,
and i'm too shy to say something emotion_facepalm

Maybe I need a T shirt that
says "Fragile" 3nodding

Aws. I'm the same way though... when they pull and jerk at my hair I can't say it hurts. xD

How did the sleep study turn out? Did they say if you stop breathing in your sleep? That's scary stuff.. my "fake" dad does that. His heart stops beating too. Pretty sure that's how he'll die. gonk But I guess of all the things to kill you dying in your sleep wouldn't be so bad. He has to sleep with a mask on.. but it still happens anyway. I hope you don't have this problem. crying
