Work had become more of an inevitability than usual, lately. Robert had a lot to make up for, and he was doing his best to take extra shifts, especially the late night ones, in order to save up more money. This left him with little, if no time to sleep - and a lot of time to himself. Not many people came in with injuries, this late at night. He was browsing Twitter while lying on a gurney - hard at work.

There was a metallic clink and clank as one of the errant rolling tables was jostled, and the sound of medical supplies being disturbed somewhere a few beds closer to the infirmary entrance. A bit cavalier to be stealing supplies out in the open, but then again it was probably just the weekly cartload of completely ordinary if oddly specialized first aid kits from around the island waiting to be replenished after the latest disaster.
"Robert," the responsible party called out casually with a somewhat thick accent, "Did they take the kit out of my lab again and not tell me?"
More rummaging. "I need a roll of bandages."

Robert looked up from his phone after typing out a few tweets, and sleepily blinked at the man standing there, searching through the supplies for an item that would inevitably never be where he was looking. He groaned, meekly throwing a latex glove in Lucky's general direction to get him to stop looking through medical supplies that should stay untouched. "Quit it. Whatever you're looking for ain't in there, Lucky." His brother in law was standing there, moving things and breathing and being alive - and this did not disturb him. At all. "You're gonna get me in trouble being in here," He mumbled, his eyes falling back down to twitter to refresh it - still nothing. "Go back to bed, Mimsy's gonna ********' flip her s**t if she sees you got up on your own and - " Oh. There it was. "LUCKY!" Robert's phone clattered to the floor as he all but flung it while jumping off the gurney, and stared with a gaped mouth at him. But even slower, certain other oddities began to get recognized. Lucky was out of his coma, as far as Robert could be concerned - and the first thing he'd done was... "Did you change your hair back to green?" Lucky had odd priorities.

"She doesn't have to know," he chided back, closing the empty first aid kit with a small groan.
Robert's shift from half-awake to half-crazed sent the intermediate's arms upward in the beginning of a defensive pose simply out of habit. Lucky's eyes followed the projectile clatter of the phone from behind his glasses, then darted back to Robert quizzically. And continued to stand there frozen and blinking until Robert started talking about his hair.
Lucky wound a couple of finger nervously through a chunk of his bangs, bringing it into his field of vision. Black, with green tips that were no longer green so much as a sickly shade of bleach now. Just like always. "Yes...? I mean, I vill need more dye. It is... not so easy to come by."
He was stuck on-island for as long as the death division hunters were - which was to say, basically forever.
"Is your shift over soon?" he continued in a concerned tone, taking a small step in Robert's direction with fingers nervously twined through one another. His head tilted slightly to one side, but craned a bit upward to account for the foot of height Robert had over him. "Maybe you should get some rest."

What in the hell was happening. Robert couldn't resolve the small, but glaring features that should have been throwing up warning signs left and right - but he could resolve the fact that Lucky was awake, and up. Which meant only one thing; "It's.." He took a step forward, hesitantly. "A.." His breath shuddered, and he reached out, slowly wrapping his giant meaty hands around Lucky's shoulders. "MIRACLE!!!!!" Lucky was concerned over Robert's mental health, and that concern was only about to get worse as time went on. He picked Lucky up off of the ground and hugged him viciously, bouncing up and down in delight. "You're okay! You're OKAY! We tried to take care of you and we never gave up, we never did, but everything's okay now because you WOKE UP!" And of course, the inevitable cheer of excitement escaped him as he bounced with Lucky in his arms. "CONGRATULATIONS!!!"

"Robert-!" Before Lucky could take any evasive maneuvers, he was swept up in Robert's crushing hug. Any objections he would have made to the idea he might have been unconscious for longer than a few days were drowned or choked out of him by the sheer physical force of Robert's enthusiasm. Also there were more important issues to address in the immediate moment, such as how his arms were pinned, his feet couldn't reach the floor, and, well -
"Can't breathe," he wheezed.

Not being able to breathe was one of the biggest complaints Robert was used to hearing when he hugged somebody. He immediately let go, and set Robert back down on his feet. "LUCKY!" He screamed out, still holding him by the arms. "How did you - how are you feelin'? Should - do you need a check up? You hungry? Are you dizzy or anything? When did you wake up? GOD I'M SO HAPPY-" Though he'd let go of Lucky to give him the chance to breathe, he already forgot that he'd done so, and immediately picked Lucky up in another breath-stealing hug. This time he swiveled his body back and forth. "LUCKY LUCKY LUCKY YOU'RE AWAKE YOU'RE ALIVE SHE'S GONNA BE SO HAPPY-"

Lucky took a few gasping breaths, watching Robert with a look of bemusement. "I'm - I'm fine." He actually looked relieved, cracking a small smile. Robert's excitement was a little contagious, even if it seemed to be over nothing. But he felt wanted, which was pretty rare. "I don't know, maybe a few-" The initial shock of being hugged violently had worn off after the first time and Lucky was more resigned to the second round. But his face fell as soon as Robert implied that Mimsy would be anywhere close to as thrilled. His eyes darted briefly to the hourglass etched somewhat permanently into his arm, the reason he'd come looking for bandages in the first place. "Yeah," he chimed in breathlessly, his voice falling deliberately flat. "Sure."

Setting Lucky down a second time, Robert backed up enough to hop on a gurney - which all but broke at his weight, barely holding on by the fact it was severely bendy. He sunk down and sat there, ignoring the fact that he was probably going to break it within seconds. He looked like an attentive pup, wiggling with interest. "So, come on! Tell me what happened! Like, okay, did you hear anything while you were in the coma? Do you remember why you got knocked into it? The last time we saw you was inside Wonderland, is that where you were? And you didn't tell me if you were hungry or whatever - " He saw the tattoo. Hopping off of the gurney that bounced up at release, Robert grabbed his arm and stared at it. "The hell is this?"
